Hi Nathan, really good to hear from you.  Unfortunately very few sites are taking US players due to the changes that the industry is going through in the States.  APAT was unable to put on a major proposed tournament in the US due to being sponsored by PokerStars, who do continue to take US customers.  As soon as the situation sorts itself out in the US, as it surely will do, APAT will be working very hard to encourage our sponsors to accept our entire member base.  Apologies for the inconvenience that this is causing you in the interim.

Does that mean that EVERYONE on BlueSQ can play? This tourny could get bombed by randomers? :(

I didn"t get in either and am suitably unimpressed with BlueSquare.

I was able to log in but could not find the tournament.

Looking under both APAT and All Scheduled Tournaments resulted in a "No Results Found" message.

I then tried their (inappropriately named) Quick Search.  At about 7.55, I entered in the search criteria to find any $10 No-Limit Tourney starting in the next hour. At just after 8.10 it came back with the "No Results Found" message.

Got held up and just got home 40 minutes late, lucky I pre-registered earlier! Had only lost a few chips thanks to the deepstack and decent 15min levels. So back up just over starting now...

Well I"ve learnt the error of slow playing a flopped full house - but at least I saw the danger on the river and minimised my losses.

I"m aiming to get those chips back at some point Foggy :)

Gotta say the stars events in series one pissed all over Blue square. They are too limited in deposit methods and all the guy on help can say is "company policy"

I"m going to have to set up a new account as they wont let me change my deposit method.

Missed out 2nite but good luck everyone.

well, I think that there are some great players in this game, unfortunately there are players who care to call 4x raises with like K 5 off...  and then seeing 2 pair or trips on the flop.. unreal..  I am now changing to play like them also...

Well still in a second break with a massive 875 chips.
Been short stacked since I flopped trip 7"s but couldnt get Gimac to lay down his flopped trip 10"s.

Then lost with JJ against A9, oh well there"s always next time.

Well I"ve learnt the error of slow playing a flopped full house...

No it seems I haven"t learnt any lesson at all.

In a different tournament, on a different site, I flopped the nut straight.

Slow, slow - hmm! Board pairing on the turn and 3 of a kind on the board after the river - suddenly my straight doesn"t look so good to an all in bet.  :"(

Okay - now I"ve learnt my lesson. No more slow playing, anywhere, anytime with any hand. Probably.

Out in 12th.  My AK didn"t improve against a pair of 7"s

Damage was done a couple of hands before when I lost over 70k when my Kings were busted by Queens when one of the remaining queens floated in on the river.

No medal, no points, 5 hours play, but I"m $12 up.  I think I"ll sleep on this before postings comments tomorrow.

Good luck to the final table.  How has Neil made it on there ?   ;D

Neil has made it on there with a mix of folding ALL kinds of hands to avoid the bubble initially (2nd shortest stack on cash bubble), with some luck with 66 that hit the flop for the third time tonight (first two didn"t get me paid), then with some horrendous luck with A6s committed to calling against AA on a K97 board then hitting 8 on turn and 10 on river. I did apologise ...  :-\

I made it to final table with short stack (66k). With A6 again I made top pair on 456 all diamond board, I pushed, was called by the Ad and the turn was a Diamond. Out in 10th.

Great experience, great event (I"m not sure I"ll be too popular crawling into bed at 1:30 every Friday morning though so let"s make it 3k or 4k chips). I"m gutted my name"s still not gonna make the Leaderboard but, in all honesty, I happy just to have made an APAT final table.

Congrats Dunc on the win, those early wins against some strange hands stood you in good stead.

Unlucky but well played Slogs, down to the felt at one point but great comeback.

Commisserations Ash (Bowlestown) so close to a medal. That"ll teach you to listen to Mike though and calling an all in reraise with AK  ;)

A very enjoyable tournament! Finished in 26th place after a few cruel hands.

AK vs my pocket sevens and the board pairs twice leaving my sevens in the dust. The very next hand I receive pocket aces... I push to be called by pocket jacks. The flop comes with 2 jacks! The turn comes an A!!! The river a blank  >:(

Still nice game and got my money back!

Looking back he made a great call, but i don"t think he knew it was good, we were both about 40% to win the hand but even so, surely he had one of us 2 all in on an AK/AQ,  :-\ i don"t know, all i know is that i"ve got a party to go to tomorrow so good luck to everyone playing in the swiss open.

Thanks guys for your kind comments.

The heads up was a real battle.  Sloggs was tough to play against.

Ash was really unlucky,  he had built up 70 per cent of the chips at one stage, doing a real Jamie Gold and knocking everyone out at the final table!!.

Was unlucky that his AK ran into my aces just after I had doubled up,  mind you he nearly got the straight!!!

As I cant actually put a face to either of you guys come and look me up at Walsall and i will get you guys a drink

I would also personally like to thank my neighbour for starting to drill and hammer and 7.30 am this morning

Bah...17th...so near to the final table yet so far...would have loved to have got some points on the board, especially after missing the regionals (and the qualis and the clickfest :-(, season 2 starting with a handicap for me).
Well done to everyone who got in the points last night, hopefully be joining you soon.

I was AllanD23 in season 1 but have turned into the Duke of Hazard for season 2 (joined one night just to look at gukpt qualifiers early this year, guess what was on the telly...), tried to change the name but bluesquare just point you at ipoker who burst out laughing at you (that"s if they acknowledge you exist).

Oh, and congratulations to Stevie Hill for winning the scottish regional event though i suspect I"m going to be seeing quite a bit of his gold medal :-( Tell you whit stevie, i"ll put my losers silver medal in the drawer for my next home game if you agree not to bring your gold ... (anyone else think a season 1 silver will have better long term bumming value than a season 2 gold?...no, didn"t think so...). Where did you finish last night stevie? two hundred and what"th? (I know, it"s all i have though)
Starting to lose count of the medallists that come to my home game now, reckon we must have one of the hardest home games to win...

Des, any chance of a list of who"s who this year? would be handy to know who the lucky ones are :-) And of course nice to know when we"re playing folk from last season (or should that be this season as technically s1 not finished?)

Catch you all tomorrow night...
Allan Deuchars.

oh, my losing hand, had about 27k, bb6k, i"m on bb, sb has 34k (kdh, glad to see you used my chips wisely :-)), all fold to sb, he/she flat calls, i push with tjc, hoping for a fold or at least 2 live cards and a 60/40...kdh calls with a5o, both miss so the ace holds up...surprised at the call as it"s quite likely if i had an ace it would be stronger but there you go, a good call never the less cos i didn"t have an ace lol.

Not everyone who wants to play can make Saturdays (like me) , or for some make Thursdays. Having both tourneys gives members a chance to play.

The tourneys should be shortened by way of shorter blinds or smaller starting stack.

So make it a worse tournament - more of a crapshoot - more like every other tournament, in which case, what would be the point?

agree with this.

As much as I"d like the online tourneys to finish earlier myself, I also understand that APAT is about deepstacked tourneys allowing for more creative play. Its too bad for me and for others, but I"ll just deal with it.

If the turnouts had been small then maybe it could be an issue for consideration. 200 isn"t a bad turn out IMO.

If 200 is a poor turnout (IOPO) and less chips/smaller blinds results in 1000 runners, how much quicker would the tourney really play out?

i appreciate and understand what you are saying, and i can deal with a 3 a.m. finish even an 8 a.m. finish, but how many can. It is an amature association so most players will have work to go to a few hours later.

As the snowball known as APAT continues to grow 230 players could well be regarded as a low turn out in months to come. A max of 800 players are allowed. What time finish for 400 players or 600 players under the current structure - or will the structure itself control the number of players because members will not enter because of the length of the tourney.

If so, can this be right? The structure controlling the members, and not the members contolling the structure.

You can only control the length of a tourney by way of buy-in, number of players, length of blinds and starting chips.

Increasing the cost of buy-in is unfair to those that want to but can"t afford to ($20 seems to be fair to me)

Drastically reducing the max number of players ends up with another "clickfest" which we all hate.

Would 3,000 chips really be that painful? Cream will always float to the top whether it be 3,000 or 5,000 chips.

Would 12 min blinds instead of 15 mins really lead to a "crapsoot". I don"t think so.

The more hurdles that you put in the way of a member taking part, the less interested a member will become, and you will end up with a small elite group of people left - a private members club rather than an association.

Deepstacks and long blinds work well for live events because of the constraints laid down by lack of table space at casinos.

What would happen if everyone who took part in the clickfest a couple of weeks ago could get a seat - the tourney would take 3 or 4 days, and how many would then be able to take part? The constraints of the casinos will not last for ever - what will we do then.

The structure is not the most important thing in the APAT (IMHO), the member is, and their active participation should be encouraged and made as easy as possible.

This will lead to a happy and active community, which I am sure we all want.

Here"s a radical idea - why do we have to conclude a tournament in one sitting? Live tournaments are played over multiple sittings, why not online? It might mean major changes to software or it could be as simple as increasing the duration of the last break of the night to 20 hours. Could be something for future seasons?

This is a brilliant suggestion! Cant believe it would mean too many drastic changes to the software (If they can change between blind level lengths and starting stack sizes they can surely change break lengths)

The only real problem would be people who would not be available on other days

At the end of the day, you"ll never please everyone, which is why i think they should keep it as it is for now.

A poll/survey/questionaire on the structure for the online series would surely settle any arguements.

Lets make them flipaments- that way the tourney will be over in a minute.

20,000 strating chips. Only rule is you have to go all in every hand.  There u go- all done!

Might sound a bit sarky but I agree with Jon MW- there is plenty of tourney selection out there online with low starting chips and quick blinds.  The unique thing about APAT is that it offers a deeper structure at a fraction of the cost.

I personally would feel aggrieved if you took chips off players. It would take my edge away being the great player I am  ;D

I have"nt competed in season 2 online yet(Holidays), but i have read these posts with interest as they bring up a couple of valid points which members feel strongly about ie,

1) some wanting a quality tourney with a bigger than normal starting stack enabling creative play, so we amateurs can develop a better game.

2) but concerns from some others regarding growth in numbers which will effect some members ability to play due to the length of the tourneys?

I have a couple of solutions which need forum discussion;

1) Why can"t APAT/Blue Square look at running 2 tourneys alongside each other on the THURSDAY ONLY both starting at the same time. One keeping the current format and the other with less chips/faster blinds(whatever is agreed). Players would be able to CHOOSE which format suited them that night and play in ONE only-not both? Obviously player numbers would have to rise upto 300+ for this to be feasible and perhaps a consensus taken on members choices to give a guide as to the number of players wanting which option?
This would obviously double the APAT points available on this night which needs to be carefully thought thru and of course a check to ensure members do not enter both?
I think that Saturday could be left as we are, but that can also be open to debate?

2) Another option is for APAT to split the membership in 2, via email addresses or surnames etc and allocate one half into a "BLACK TEAM" the other the "WHITE TEAM", or "A TEAM" & a "B TEAM" or "DES"S DRUNKS" & "TIKAY"S ANORAK"S"!?
On THURSDAY ONLY Blue Square has both tourneys open for Apat members to join their allocated tourney and all new members are allocated a team which keeps them equal in size etc.
Option 2 has the tourneys running at the current status and can be split further as online participation grows. Perhaps into the regional groups we currently have for live events which throws up the possibility of online regional points-just an idea?

Okay a lot to take in and i am sure it can be improved upon-what do you think? ???  ;D

If you try a bit harder Kevin, I"m sure you could find an even more complicated solution ;)

I did think that DES"S DRUNKS & TIKAY"S ANORAKS was funny though!? Imagine Des getting someone drunk?  ;D

But if Des's one was ironic then shouldn"t Tikays be so as well?
