11r to 215 shootout and took it down!!!

-
Nice one fella
Good luck in Dublin!
Steve
-
Good luck, and don"t forget to post a report on here to let us all know how you got on.
-
Very well done Sir, I hope you have a great time in Dublin. If you qualified though the sponsor"s make sure you get to Dublin in plenty of time for the launch party, its well worth an extra night in my opinion. Would you be interested in writing a trip report for the new APAT site or completing a short interview about your experience?

Congrats and good luck
See my WSOP report to see how a great piece of journalism is done, ho ho!

Ty Mr Champ- hopefully I"ll be able to change my name to Irish Champ eh??? ;D
I would absoloutely love to do an interview and a report for the site- my recall is pretty good although u"ll probably see most of the final table hands on TV anyway :o
-
Nice work George.
I actually watched your final table for a bit. Saw your name and had a feeling you posted on the APAT site.
I was on the final table of a Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball tournement at the time. Won it for $120 as it happens. Not as nice as an EPT seat though!
Good luck over there.
In my opinion there is no better place to play poker than Ireland.
-
good luck pal now take it down

Well its actually a change to the front end that is in the planning stage and not a new site, I should have qualified it better or not mentioned it.

You"ve nearly got the hang of Des's patented "teasing technique", but not quite.
About a month before it launches be sure to tell us that it"ll be "next week" some time. That"s the kind of thing Des prefers ;D

Well played G2L! Enjoy yourself over in Ireland.
-
Have fun ;D

Why skip walsall for a tin-pot event like an EPT?
Priorities..... :P
-
Top effort George, enjoy!!!
-
Did we ever get an update/report George?
-
Not been asked to do an official report mate tho there is sadly not much to report.
I ran a crazy bluff early.
Starting stack at 15k blinds 25/50- cut off raises to 125- I look down at :as: 6c and feeling the need to establish an image so I defend my blind I flat call (I honestly don"t know why- this would usually be an instant much). The flop comes
:2d: 5s 5h
I think perfect- I can represent this garbage so check. He continue bets 125 which I flat call ready to flot on the turn which comes
8c
I lead for 450 which my opponent dwells about and flat calls.
At this point I put my opponent on a Pair- I consider the fact that he may have hit a boat on the flop or turn but decide it"s unlikely he would have lead on the flop and he is holding 88 I"m unlucky.
The river comes a harmell :3h: so I lead again for 1200- another dwell and he calls and tables:
7s 5d !!!!
ooops- this however has left me strangely confident. The size of the buy in wasn"t effecting my game (or so I thought)
A few hands later a short stack (got into a confrontation with the same player who raised my blind) flat calls for 100 utg- I look down in the sb with 6c 6d and make up the blind. BB checks
Flop qh 9d 4s
Everyone checks (theres 5 in the pot if I remember correctly)
turn
6s
Perfect- I check again. UTG now leads for 400- confident I have the best hand I raise to 1200 which he flat calls.
River is a harmless 8d
For some strange reason I decide to check- my oppenent with a stack of about 6k leads for 1200.
Now I froze for some reason- maybe the occasion, usually this is an easy raise but for some reason I flat call- starting to play scared poker "Has he got a higher set- does he have 88 or 99.
He tables AQ and I beat myself up for being such a nit.... something which will cost me dearly in the hand I bust in.
I get reseated- lovely table. Pascal Perrault to my immediate left, Brandon Schafer 2 to my right and eventual winner Reuben Peters sat opposite.
I go card DEAD. Nothing to worry about. Blinds go up to 100/200 my stack dwindles to about 12.5k when I look down at :as: qd in middle position. I raise to 600 and get one flat caller- a fairly tight player on the button.
The flop comes a beautiful if a little scary
ah qh 6c
I decide to lead at the pot because of the texture but want to get paid at the same time if my opponent has an ace so bet out 800 into the pot of 1400.
My opponent dwells up and raises 2.5k
Now usually the alarm bells would ring- what is my opponent calling with? He"s fairly tight- is he raising with a flush draw- does he have sometime like jh th??? Or has he got 6d 6s????
At this point I tell myself off- 66??? Your letting the occasion get to you- he either has a weaker ace or a big draw so I re raise up to 8k.
My opponent without hesitation goes all in. It"s another 5k for me to win a pot of around 17.5k. At this point I know I"m beat- I should have folded I still have 5k at blinds 100/200 but again think a big draw is in his range and maybe he"ll table AQ too.
I make the crying call and am left crying when he obviously turns over 66.
Sick cooler or avoidable? I have my own views and have spoken to many other players about it
What do you think?
-
Shame nobody asked you to write something before. Interesting read. A fine mix of the avoidable and the cooler it looks like. Ah well, im sure there will be another time!
-
Well done you"ll have a great time.........TOP TIP.....Do NOT book a hotel in Temple Bar, if you want some sleep
