Title: Sky Poker
Post by: AVFC.WILSON on February 23, 2010, 01:56:39 AM
Anyone else a member on this site?

Yes Mike.......its a place where bingo players meet and you find the occasional poker player on there, although they find life very hard as nobody can fold an ace and two picture cards look pretty !
Mind you, the satellites are the easiest to get through on any site IMO.

Got to agree. The sats are relatively easy to qualify from( I qualified for the SPT Glasgow at the first attempt !! Bonamassa), 6 max and 1 in 5 qualify. The entry fees are reasonable and the starting chips normally 2000 - 3000.
I have not been at the cash tables, but if the scheduled tables are the standard, then soft is the word.
But hey, you already know that Boing, having TD the Bounty Hunter, lol.

Have they already filled the SPT Luton? Seems strange they are qualifying 2 ahead otherwise.

yes Luton is sold out

Is there any way to direct buy into a Sky Poker event (specifically Glasgow) without satelliting in? Would love to play a good live game on home soil but know if I try sat in i"ll end up wasting about £50 and no getting a seat or something :D

Have to agree, the satellites are easy. Have been playing the 15k gurantee every Sunday and have have cashed 2 weeks in row. And most tourneys are 6 max so it"s good if your an agressive player.

Online satellites or one 5 seat live satellite only

The Luton one is this Saturday at 5.30pm

The Glasgow one will be roughly a fortnight before the event

In case you didn"t know I have a foot in that camp too as the Sky Poker Tour manager, just to declare my intererst.

You could just sell me one direct then *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* ;)

lol, I"m assuming the 5 seat live satellite will be at the Alea a fortnight before the event?
If so, how much will the buy in be for this satellite?

I might give the online satellites a go but just know i"m gna fail miserably.

So far the live sats have been £10 or £20 rebuys

Up to the venue what they want to do to sell the five seats

Try the online sats would be my advice. Winnable within a few attempts for almost everyone. Even you!

hi

Yeah each night until the 120 seats are taken m8.

43 seats already gone but plenty left.

I won my seat last Monday, i just went right for the £24 buy in semi final game at half 9 where 1 in 5 won there seat.

The sats were not up last week tho but i can see tonight there are £5.20 sats at hof 4, 5, 6 & 7 the nite where 1 in 5 will go into the £24 semi final at hof 9.  In my opinion it"s prob best going right for the semi final game and paying the 24 quid man.

Hope this helps & gl :)

p.s I joined the Glasgow Poker Club last night tae play in the league games starting in March  :)

Plenty of time to win a seat man.  A good few weeks tae a month at least i"d reckon before it"s sold out.

Won my seat at first attempt tonight ;D

Just bought in direct for £22, 3 seats awarded and 4-handed I went from comfortable to one of shorties after the QQ was cracked by a shorties push with K2. I thought for a minute I was going to bubble but luckily got through. Looking forward to playing on home soil. What"s the procedure now Des or Tighty? Do I just turn up on the day or do I need to do anything more?

Cheers mate. You should jump up the Merchant City casino or something for a few practice live games before this. The players are bingo merchants but it gets you used to the live play, I remember my first couple of live games I was really nervous and making stupid mistakes so i"d recommend giving it a bash sometime before this! I can"t wait to play a meaningful game and being able to go home to my own bed for once at the end of the night, or sneak out the backdoor when I get knocked out early as is normally the case :D

nps pal

haha, funny u saying that m8 - i seen the gala casino in the merchant city dae a "beginner night" oan Wednesday"s for a £10 buy-in freezeout, so was actually thinking of geein that a few goes prior to this spt live one.  Tad nervous about my 1st live game lol but av been playing oanline for over 2 years now and im on like 8+ poker sites now and play oanline all the time so be great tae get a few live cheap games in prior to the spt game to get some live experience.

what"s the turnout like m8 at the gala if you know?

p.s - are you from dalmuir/clydebank coz i recognise your name and yer pic lol
Title: Re: Sky Poker
Post by: CrizzyConnor on February 24, 2010, 01:44:49 AM
Aye i"m from Dalmuir, thought I recognized your name but wasn"t sure.
There"s a few people who play the APAT games from Clydebank, one or two of us on the forum too.

I"ve no been to the Merchant in ages, don"t really play much poker live in Glasgow anymore but last I knew it was getting around 50-60 runners for the Wed game and finish about 12-12:30 if you get to the money. It"s a good game to pass the time and get used to the live atmosphere. You can regularly cash if you play solid ABC but do be prepared to crash out against Jx, Qx or Kx suited - they just can"t muck those suited cards up there, ever!

Title: Re: Sky Poker
Post by: Denham on February 24, 2010, 02:12:55 AM
lol anno - least u understawn wit am saying man haha.

aye might go for one of the low buy-ins fur the SCOOP but May is a v.busy month fur me man - spt hing at start then 3 year anniversary wae ma burd so away somewhere hot fur a week then her auntie"s wedding doon in London at end a May.

played my 1st game oan betfair the night man and called an all in pre flop with a short stack guy with my pocket 10"s and he showed A 10 and hit flush on river then i was down tae like 800 chips with blinds up at like 125/250 so a wiz humped and looking fur another decent hawn.

I was under the impression it was a deepstack and decent clock structure like APAT events.

Where"d you find this info?
10 minute clock is INSANE, that"s worse than the shovfests at local casinos which are usually 20 min blinds.

LOL!

The structure in the online lobby is not the structure used in the live events!!

It"s 5k chips, 30 minute blinds.

Thank the Poker Gods for that.
But the information is contained in the Tournament Lobby for the SPT Glasgow, 8th May. Its got the prize fund correct, maybe they just forgot to adjust the clock !.

LOL

Hope you did OK Jim.....I went out 14th after an enjoyable day. Folded J-J after getting re-raised pre-flop with about 20 left and the guy who had shoved on me showed K-K but then on the bubble I was UTG with 4-4 and passed because the short-stack on the other table was gonna be all-in......I would have rivered a house 3-handed and been on about 60k but still the right decision IMO.
One of those days when I don"t think I played a single hand badly so I am more than happy with that.

if you have money there , sit & wait and enjoy the rewards.v frustrating as they wont fold.if you hit trips enjoy the double up.gl
