Title: Clickfest - 25/2?
Post by: AVFC.WILSON on February 24, 2010, 21:13:09 PM
Will this just be a case of clicking "register for this tournie" as soon as it appears in the betfair lobby?

I"m confused how it"s going to work..

Explain anyone?

I"m going to sit back and let Betfair Poker take the strain.   ;D

The idea is that the tournament becomes available at 9pm with a limited seat availability.  Once it"s filled, that"s it, done.

Should be entertaining to watch.   ;D

Will the "holding tank" open or another "tourney"?

The former I"m guessing.

I take it APAT then takes down the 100 or so names - however many have entered into the holding tank?

Whilst on a later date i.e 20th of March Betfair will go on to delete this "online" tournament?

But are there different holding tanks for the professional and amateur tournamnents?

I wouldn"t be surprised if this happened, but I think most of last year"s tournaments sold out at a slightly slower rate and if it"s more like that then it should probably be able to cope.

And I think it"s more accurate to describe it as a clickfest now then it was before - before it was more of a typefest

True but let"s not forget that there are a lot less seats available this year...at least 50 per comp due to the Pro series.

Now that we have a watered-down game in Swansea (i.e. only 100 seats), I feel this will be madness tonight. Hope I am wrong though.
Title: Re: Clickfest - 25/2?
Post by: showdown on February 25, 2010, 13:21:30 PM
The holding tanks themselves say registration begins in 7.xx hours so I"d have to put my money on a magic little Register button appearing out of the blue within the tank.

Gotta love it though, gambling on whether I can guess the correct format for registration ;D

Very conscious of the smaller field size in Swansea and just to let you know, we have not promoted the Swansea dates to the member base as the process has yet to be proved.  Hopefully that will ensure it is not a mad scramble for seats this evening.

Sorry if mentioned elsewhere.

What is the capacity? How many seats are left?

Also can you confirm if the pay structure for the £250 will be the same as the £75.

Very disappointed to hear that.  Where"s the fun in a direct buy-in night if we don"t meltdown a few servers, crash a few websites, decline numerorous debit cards and cause general chaos amongst the membership as to whether they can type their own name in quicker than anyone else.

On a plus note, the APAT website should be fine tonight.   ;)

Professional Series will have a structured payout in line with other live open events. (So laddering each position)

Phil Tompkinson (fantasy staker) and Rob Swindells (APAT Awards) have taken up their seat prizes.

Plus, Betfair have 10 seats to allocate to their players to integrate APAT across their promotional strategy.  It"s going to be tight for the first one, so good luck everyone.

At 9pm, both the holding tank tournaments become open for registration (Status changes from announced to registering).  You will then be able to register.  Once the capacity is filled, no one else will be able to register.

The start time of these tournaments is not relevant, as all buyins will be held and then paid out in Swansea as cash.

Suzanne and I were on the phone to each other and both watching/waiting for the 9pm registration at the top of the lobby list, but nothing appeared. "WTF? I was yelling." Suddenly Suz said, "it must be further down" and  ... bingo ... she got in at #87. By the time I found it and clicked like a banchee, "no more room in tourney" appeared. BOOOOO! I tried again and again, and was cursing over the blower when Suz yelled "it was 90 and now down to 89. Quick! Click!" So I did and woop woop woop, I got the 90th spot that someone took then withdrew. Oh happy day! Thank you "mystery unregisterer"!  :-*

I think you can still accidentally unregister . Surely they should now fix it so that you can"t !!

I was lucky enough to get a seat. Can someone tell me what happens now? Do I just turn up at Aspers with my shades  8) and give my Betfair alias? Do I need some sort of ID to take my seat? I"m already a member at Aspers, so no problem getting in.

Cheers all!

Betfair will have your full name from your registration with them. They can match this up with your username and pass this on to APAT. A player list and briefing will be published before the event.

APAT will pass the player list to Aspers and check you off on the day.

The prize pool will be passed on to Aspers to payout in cash.

OK?

It will get posted here and, IIRC, emailed as well.

When, I"m not sure but a week to 10 days before is about standard. Player lists will go up (here) once they have been compiled and, in the case of the Pro Series, registration has closed.

When will the Swansea Pro Event be closed for registration?
Will this date be when more amateur seats would become available?

I understand that betfair have retained 10 amateur seats. How can we win these seats?

Des has indicated that IF the Pro Series does not sell out, the non-sold seats will be opened up to be added to the Amateur Event. So, if only 40 Pro seats are taken, another 10 Amateur seats become available for sale.

Not sure how that will be managed yet.

I believe there is an email being sent (I haven"t got one yet) that you get a draw entry for every HOT tourney you enter.

I"d suggest you contact the Betfair rep on here. Take a look HERE (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=5333.0)

This is part of the email I received from Betfair today:

Betfair is pleased to announce our sponsorship of the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) and we want you there!

APAT is a grass-roots poker body that is Europe"s largest organiser of multi-table, deep-stack poker tournaments at affordable buy-ins. Thousands have competed in the previous three seasons, and Season Four is set to be the best yet. Betfair will be giving you some great opportunities to take part. To kick things off, there are ten $120 packages up for grabs for the first event, the Welsh Amateur Championship.

For your chance to win one of these packages, simply play in any HOT! Tournament on Betfair Poker from now until midnight on Tuesday 2nd March. For every HOT! Tournament you play, you'll get one entry into our prize draw. Winners will be randomly picked on Wednesday 3rd March to represent Betfair at the Welsh Amateur Championships. Good luck!
