Title: Swansea Clickfest
Post by: warwickman on February 25, 2010, 17:48:57 PM
Question: For registration tonight will the holding tanks open for registration, or will there be a new tournament that will appear at 9pm?

Also, If there were 27 seats won for Swansea from the qualifiers, how are there are 29 people in the holding tank?

Do we just open the $120 holding tank and a link will appear at 2100, just like buying into a tourney????

Lol..that makes two of us Dave!  It should operate like a standard tournament registration, without the tournament taking place.  We"ll soon see.

The point being that there was no information and this thread just duplicated that one.

Do we have a "merge thread" function?

It"s capped at 90 - not 100. Not sure why?

The last 10 are reserved for Betfair to give away as a promotion.

Why were there so few seats available? When i saw the new schedule for this year it looked fantastic but i figured the point of the new professional league was that it would run alongside the regular tournaments and therefore more people would be able to play, not less.

As it is it"s a massive letdown and the appearance of a professional league in an amateur poker association seems to have cut down on the number of amateur players who get the chance to play. Very dissapointing.

Okay do I assume it is sold out, as it is no longer in the Tournament lobby. I was in the air from 8.20pm to 10.30pm!!

They are definitely still in the lobby.

The amateur event ($120) is currently sold out.

The professional event ($400) still has seats available.

We will review nearer the time as to whether we switch some of the professional seats over to the amateur event, as the limits are set due to venue capacity.

Rich & Des have both said that Swansea was a tough one to deal with and that numbers were also going to be a problem but they were let down on their alternatives.

Aspers can only fit 150 (at a squeeze) and, as you mentioned, the Pro Series will take up to 50 of those.

I"m not going to go into the issue of the Pro Series and it"s impact on the size of the Amateur fields, it"s already been covered elsewhere (have a root around you"ll find it) and it"s something we are going to have to live with.

It should be mentioned that if there are less than 50 runners in the Pro Series, those empty chairs will be moved to the Amateur field. It remains to be seen how that operates.

I would hope that the concerns raised regarding the impact of the Pro Series on the Amateur field will be addressed in Season 5 (perhaps held on another weekend from the amateur comp). In fact, I"m sure that they will be.

I think it is important to recognise that APAT has given us an excellent "tour" this year and we shouldn"t let the niggles regarding Swansea detract from that.

Basically, let"s suck it and see. We can always moan more later. :)

Can"t access Betfair from work, but looked last night and could only see the pro event, out of my bankroll I"m afraid. But would like  a ME seat if they become available.

Cheers for the info Paulie. No problems with the APAT tour, just dissapointed to not be able to play the first one. Let"s hope the future dates are at decent size casinos. Either that or I come into a large sum of money and can join the pro series!
