APAT Academy Partners With Dusk Till Dawn To Provide Live Poker Training.
London, April 14th, 2008 - The APAT Poker Association & Tour have announced a strategic partnership with Dusk Till Dawn; Europe"s premier cardroom, to provide live poker training for APAT members.
Under the tutorship of professional player Paul Jackson, each APAT Academy live day will address the theory of multi table tournaments in early, middle and late stages, player position, assessing player holdings and bankroll management, while Late Night Poker legend Simon Trumper will lecture on player psychology and tells. Live training days will also touch on sit "n" go strategy, cash game selection and limits.
A feature of APAT Academy live training days will be the addition of a guest professional who will offer an insight into the way they play the game. Attendees of the first three APAT Academy live days will have the opportunity to sit with the William Hill sponsored, European Poker Tour and multi Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Champion, Julian Thew.
APAT Academy live days will be held at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham. Each event will start at 1.30pm and last for 6 hours, enabling attendees to enter the evening tournament at Dusk Till Dawn. The cost of a training day is £99 per player, which does not include entry to the evening tournament.
The first three live days are scheduled as follows, with the first event going on sale from www.apat.com on Thursday May 8th at 9pm sharp.
May 31st.
July 26th.
September 30th.

I can say that it is certainly worth attending this, had a grand day of tuition and inspiration that cleared away some cobwebs.
Thanks to APAt for getting these organised and to DTD for supplying the talented tuition.
-
A fantastic day out. Learned a lot. Will blog this, I think. Thanks to Des, APAT and the Pros.
-
Well done Des on a wonderful day. Many thanks to Julian, Paul and Simon for their great advice and tips. Keep up the good work

Thanks everyone. We value the feedback.

Well worth the time and expense, it turned a donkey like me into someone who nearly cashed! I bubbled the £50 tournament (despite being top three in chips with 15 left, 14 paid). Kicking myself as the player pushed all-in, then got up, left the table and started walking around. Like the idiot I am i still called!
-
I had a great day on Saturday, picked up some really useful info.
However, I got knocked out of the tournament in the 2nd hand! :( I was holding 88 for the middle card in a straight, thought there was no way the other guy could have an 8 as well, turns out he had 8J for a straight one higher than mine!
Argh...
-
Yes, a terrific day organised by APAT. To simply see Paul Jackson, Julian Thew and Simon Trumper and the enthusiasm that they still have for the game acted as inspiration alone.
The content was extremely good. The setting was pleasant in the VIP area, food also very nice and well presented, and considering that this was the first Live day academy, anyone who is considering attending in the future definately WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. :)
I didn"t get to play, however what a splendid venue, I will return to play soon.
Seriously great day and excellent Value, Listening to these guys or reading books???
---------------------------No Contest !!!!!!-----------------------------------
Give it a go, you won"t be sorry,
Paul Mac
-
Sh1t, you"ve been too Paul? I don"t wanna be at your table in Dublin now 8)
-
Any plans to have one of these in Scotland???
-

i second that.......please put me at neils table instead ;)
-
Yes I went and had a great day, even the duck learnt some new tricks.......the highlight for me was definately the lasagne I had at dinnertime.......it was sooooooo delicious and I even managed to eat ALL my chips.
Anyway all the instructors were fantastic and the Dusk Till Dawn venue was amazing........it was my 1st time there and i"ll definately be going again.
I played the £50 tourney that night and even managed to cash finishing 13th
GO DUCK!!!!!!!
-
Hey Neil "n" Billy, you"ll have to face me at some point...If You want final table action???? ;) ;D
Nah just kidding, to quote Paul jackson, "I"m confused now, my heads full of too much s#@t !!!" Keep it simple, yes simple like me b4 you start posting Hehe. ::)
Shame for you two, Santino and the others up north who would like to attend.
I wonder if there were enough participants, whether they would be able to hold a day up north???
Well done Darthclubs, Your cash out in the £50 freezeout was the icing on the cake.Very nice.
Sorry Donkbox, very well done on the bubble also, gotta laugh at the call, guy walking off though, but Trumper did it twice, so i think were allowed a bad one now and again.
Catch you"s later......
-
Hey Neil "n" Billy, you"ll have to face me at some point...If You want final table action?Huh? Wink Grin
I"ll settle for that!

I don"t think that should be an issue. It"s like going to Vegas - you put in extra effort to go do things like this! I"d happily make my way to DTD for it, and not just because I haven"t been yet. I"m sure Santino and Billy would too.
When we do get around to getting our much talked about weekend trip to DTD arranged, it would be great if we could manage to do it when such a day is being run. I"ll be keeping an eye on the schedules.
Catch you"s later......
That you will. At a bar in Dublin no doubt!

Yeah, bars, Dublin, Drinks, all sounds very very good to me. I felt i must post, seeing as Billy is now silver member, and he only joined last week. Your fingers must be killing you. ;D
Well done m8, can"t wait for the guinness, hope you break tradition Neil and have a pint or two, but no pressure honestly!!!
I"m getting excited now.
c y"all in dubbers. Woohoo!!! how many sleeps from now Santino?

Would love to as well, but having 2 jobs and working 5 out of 8 weekends makes it tricky
-
Registrations will start as soon as the first day completes this coming weekend.
Apologies if I am just thick, but how do I register? I cannot seem to see anything on the APAT site other than information like dates.
Thanks
-
The second Academy date will be put on sale next week from the home page of the APAT site.

Many thanks for this.
From the enquiries you have already had, do you think I need to be quick off the mark to guarantee a spot?
-
Since the link went on the site to purchase a seat the other day I have tried a few times to do so. When I click the link it takes me to a page with a few terms and conditions, plus a box in which to type your name and a further box "Make Payment". Having entered my name and clicked the payment box I then get this message:
BAD REQUEST: datFulfillment is too far in the future. We cannot process this transaction.
Help!
-
Des
Is this a repeat of the first one, or will the content be different?

That problem has been fixed now Martin.

It will be 90% the same Rob, but I will be recommending there is more content around how decision making may differ at various stages of tournaments and cash games. I am awaiting the video links from Paul and will be getting those and his notes out to you guys shortly.
-
Cheers mate - payment now made!
-
I was surprised to be charged a cash withdrawal fee for using my credit card for the transaction - I was only buying a training event! Perhaps you should let people know this is going to happen. If I"d known I would have paid using my debit card. I take pride in never paying any interest or charges to the credit card companies and now I have gone and lost my proud record!
-
Still no notes yet from the first academy day........or have I missed something ??
-
Yeah, Paul said he would email Des with the notes for the 2nd training day.
-
I"ve received the notes, which I will forward on, but unfortunately not the video commentary - which would have been an interesting addition.
