Don"t think we"ve mentioned this, and for some it will be their first experience of playing in an event with alternates at the weekend
As you know any players unfortunate enough to go out in the first two levels will be replaced from a list of alternates
When that Alternate takes his/her seat the player is required to post a "dead" small/big blind on the first hand they are dealt
eg blinds 25-50, post 75. This is "dead". to play the hand the player still needs to at least call the big blind to continue on

makes sense, but i dont get why there is a need to replace people who go out in the first 2 rounds with alternates??
If people fall out, then there out - why put more in??

because the new British casino rules allow for alternates, it would be rather backward not to offer this in APAT Championships
It also allows a few more mebers the chance to play in an over-subscribed event

so am i right in thinking that if 10 alternates play. then places 21st-30th finishers will receive £75 each?!

Also worth reiterating what you"ve previously stated that those knocked out will not be able to enter the tournament again as an alternate.

I think further clarification may be called for... I have just noticed this in Des" first announcement that alternates wouldbe allowed -
....
Alternates will start with 10,000 chips at the start of level three. Historically, three or four players may be eliminated within the 25:50 and 50:100 levels.
This implies that all alternates will wait until the start of lev 3, regardless of when the people they replace were eliminated?

No that is incorrect, they enter as players are eliminated

That was written carelessly. To clarify, alternates will be able to join at the point that exits occur during the first two levels. However, no matter how late into the two levels alternates join, they will do so with 10,000 chips, and be required to post the dead big and small blinds as Richard pointed out above.

Damn, I guessed that would be the answer. I was hoping someone would be able to give a reasoned argument for doing this. :)

what is the maximum field size for the edinburgh regional on 10/11...and will there be any s"n"gs for people who dont make the startimg line up or are knocked out early???

Regionals are limited to 80 runners.

SNGs etc, yes I would think so
Just ask the venue if you want to play one and they will put a list up and will provide the necessary
