Played a $30 deepstack on Black Belt Poker tonight. Only 7 runners.
We get three handed and hit a break. A friendly table, I"ve just got the chiplead with 9k, 2nd on 8k, 3rd on 4k.
With two minutes of the break remaining, 2nd in chips types "t time" and is sat out.
Break ends and we carry on playing with him sat out. After about 20 hands, I knock out the guy in 3rd.
We are heads up and I have 14k against the 7k in 2nd place who is still sat out.
It"s a winner takes all ($210). Two options, are you stealing blinds or sitting out ?
-
lost enough times when I"ve disconnected for whatever reason, either technical or because of a distraction..... no question here.... just raise fast enough to make sure you take enough before he comes back!!
-
t-time -- WTF -- he ain"t coming back - steal
-
I wouldn"t be able to bash the mouse fast enough
-
same situation and its heads up in an apat online or league game, and u know someone has had d/c problems and is currently sat out, what do u do then?
-
raise a lot even out of position :) lol

If it"s AMRN same answer ;)

WELL ???
Did you beat him? ???
-
If I knew the guy, I wait. If I don"t then would he wait for me ?.....course he would !!
Nice win Leigh :)
-
the guy cannot eat and play online poker at the same time?? lmao .. Moral dilemma?
Leigh you are showing that you have no morals if u play on and others may view u as a sneaky individual which would lead to all black belt regs to not want to play with you any more and worse still may even possibly wish that bad things should happen to you ... ;D
On the other hand should you choose to fold/sit out whilst waiting patiently for your fellow player then you will gain the respect of your fellow players at black belt poker.. Henceforth u will be welcomed back with open arms by all , they will luvvvv your integrity .. The poker Gods will reward u with unusually luckiness and all will be well in the world of Chipaccrual.
OR u could just get raising and win $210 ;D

Because this is a "community based game" on BBP, rather thn just a normal game, Im pretty sure I sit out. The guy has said he is coming back - I give him 5 minutes.
Ul in the league game - they always get there.
-
Your op only serves as further evidence that some people in the world are much nicer than me...
Not only would I snap raise as soon as the box appeared, I"d leave messages in the chat box saying how I was going to spend the money, in the hope that he sees it before his window closes.
-
Yeah gotta be honest, I would probs wait a couple of minutes, and then start raisinig, at least then you can say you gave him time to get back.
-
What were the blind levels?
-
Who was the villain?
-
i"d raise constantly, even if i knew the bloke
-
Although on the specific issue of this precise scenario then I don"t think there should be any problem with hammering away stealing his chips.
He chose to sit out, even if he"s having problems getting back to the game - it was his choice to leave it in the first place.

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO

Mikey, that is exactly what I did. I waited a couple of minutes and then decided if he wasn"t back by then I"d get raising. So I waited the two minutes and no sign of him.
After about 90 seconds of raising, he returned and stack sizes were 16k and 5k.
My heads up was awful, bad cards, couldn"t hit a flop, couldn"t bluff when not hitting a flop, and he played very well. Stacks were back even, when I got pretty much coolered.
Holding AJ, board comes 3 7 J 7 A
Gradually the chips went in during the hand, but majority went in on the river. He was holding J 7.
At the time of him sitting out, blinds were 100/200 I think. As has been commented on, I considered this a "community" game and that"s why I chose to do what I did.
In the end, it was the wrong decision "results" wise, and an extra two minutes of blind stealing would have left him very very shortstacked, but I felt it was the right decision, and also a decision that I would hope anyone would make in APAT league game for example, although, maybe my hopes are a bit high there. ;)

Thanks Marty, and vwp yourself.
The league game was very frustrating. I was playing very well, and for him to shove his entire stack in on a 9 high flop with AK when we were down to 5 players, was very poor. I was pretty sure of his range, and so I knew I was comfortable ahead, but as you say - they always get there.
I"ve only played a couple of these, and the standard is surprising. ;)

is it a beginers comp

is it a beginers comp
And I"m learning quickly. ;D
Great comp though Tony. I finished 5th and still get a medal, and it arrived this morning in the post. Amazing. ;D
-
Yea there are some surprising plays in there :) sum really good players as well tho - lot of the graders play and loads of the higher belts just play for the craic. good for sum banter, with an early enough finish and a decent enough structure.

is it a beginers comp
yep, white belt poker ;)

I like this answer the least tbh. I say you either show mercy or be ruthless but either way do it fast and take full responsibility.
