Please let us know before you refer to Britain as the mainland while you"re there, cos I don"t want to miss the fun.

Ahhh...you missed a bit.... I said UK mainland. I don"t know hotel prices in N.Ireland, Channels Islands or the Orkneys but I"m pretty good on prices anywhere I can drive to on this sceptered isle TYVM.
...and of course, I"m aware that the R.o.I, is not part of the UK.

last year me and jase stayed at Park West days inn, that was aklso a few minutes out of town but right near bus and train stops, and the hotel ran a shuttle bus into the city in the daytime
was pretty good!
-
I"d recommend the Burlington personally, only about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the fitz and is generally fairly reasonably priced.

Just booked my flight via Ryanair, Edin - Dublin £12 return woop woop
Also booked the Latchford, cheers for all the info Paulie

Unfortunately, we will not be going back to The Fitz this year, due to the venue having logistical issues.
A venue will be announced very shortly, but we are confident it will remain in Dublin.

Noooo...we LOVE the Fitz....lucky my hotel booking is cancellable.
As soon as the new venue is known, I"ll get on the hotel search doings.

I seem to recall that casinos aren"t legally allowed to have bars in Ireland...or am I misinformed?

Looks like you could be right Paulie.. http://www.worldgamblingreview.com/gambling/ireland/
"Irish Gambling Laws
Casino gambling in The Republic of Ireland falls under the 1956 Gaming and Lotteries Act. This law makes casino gambling illegal, except for private clubs. This loophole has allowed casinos to operate within the country, but it has also served to keep away the major companies and their mammoth gambling establishments.
Gambling winnings are tax-free in the Republic of Ireland.
To become a member of a "player club," an applicant must provide both age and residence. The methods for membership approval are regulated by the Gaming and Leisure Association of Ireland (GALA). It should also be noted that player clubs do not serve alcohol to their customers.
You must be at least 21 to become a member of a player club in The Republic of Ireland."
Bad times :"(

Just tried to book the same hotel it comes back as fully booked but I have sent them a messgae anyway seeing if I can pick up a cancellation or something. If not I will probably book the Leeson Inn as that sounds OK.
Will probably fly over on the Friday as don"t really like rushing on Saturdays to get to a poker tournament. I have no idea where anything in Dublin is but am sure I will work it out as I go along.

??? It"s at the Fitz ???

We recommend that all players travelling to Dublin bring a passport with them. Irish and British citizens do not strictly require a passport to travel between the two countries - some form of identification is however required.
You will also need Photo ID to register at the Fitz.
