David Moyes has a message for Carl Lybert
"Carl. I am sorry I can"t be with you this weekend. I know you are fifth in the 2010 national rankings and chasing the title. I know you are on a great run of form and I know you have more chance of winning than Everton have of scoring two goals this weekend. Yes, look at me, two goals. That"s all I ask. I was the great white hope, future manager at Old Trafford, and now look at me....Struggling. Don"t be like me, run good. Cheers David"

"I followed your bloody travel instructions for Dublin and now where the hell am I? Forty years of travelling with my Amex card and never have I been so confused. Next you"ll be locking my threads on www.whicker.com/forums. Good luck this weekend Paul. Lets hope they are playing Five card Lowball draw stripped deck Jacks are wild somewhere in the Fitz. Your edge in that game is legendary. Unlike your links to train timetables".

Maylis Boardman has a message for Martyn Sharp
"Sorry I can"t be there this weekend. Just this once you won"t be able to huddle conspiratorially near the mixing desk with me discussing shoes, make up and how on earth James Edwards is still in. Perhaps this means you might win this time? Good luck Martyn"

"Here I am my precious, on my other favourite Rock. What a great run you are having my precious, and I predict you"ll find the APAT ring this weekend, with another final table. Just ask that updater not to repeat the one good lookalikey he"s ever done, precious?"

Dear Alan,
I am terribly sorry you have been unable to follow our simple instructions for travelling to Dublin. I can assure you that these have been awarded the Crystal Mark from the Plain English Commission and, to date, we have had no complaints even from the usual groups of drunks, dyslexics and fish who usually follow them.
I regret that you were unable to follow the links to the railway timetables but I delegated those to my "Railway Asssitant", T Kendall but it would appear that he has let me down. Sometime you just can"t get the staff.
I thank you for your best wishes for the weekend and whilst I am, indeed, well versed in the game you mentioned, I feel that you are overlooking my pwnage of Pot Limit Double Flop Omaha Hi/Lo Blood River. I realise that the last element I mentioned might be unknown to you but simply stated..if either river card is red..you keep peeling (and betting) until a black card is turned. Two 7 or 8 card boards are not uncommon.
I have suggested this as an option for APAT Coventry but Mr R Prew...someone not unknown to you...is me giving trouble over the structure.
I hope you make it on time.
Paulie

Last year was an emotional triumph for Brian Yates, for a number of reasons.

Will he become the first player to win two APAT live titles ?
Will he become the first player to retain his title ?
Will we ever hear the end of it if he does ?
All will be revealed here, with an APAT retro-stylee live update.
No live feed I"m afraid, we couldn"t afford the shipping costs for the shoe collection. ;)

My favorite APAT venue and one that brings back great memories for me and I"m sure many others. Raise a glass to Brendan whilst your there.
Sorry I"m missing this one.
-
Having played the previous 3, I"m gutted to be missing the Irish champs. In fact I made my APAT debut at the Fitz.
Gl to everyone
Paul Mac FTW

Is it a 2 or 2:30 start, thanks?
-
Is it a 2 or 2:30 start, thanks?
2:30 :)
-
Likewise gutted to be missing this, but hey a 12 hour return drive drive to drop my son off in sunny Aberystwyth is a worthy cause I guess.
Best of luck to all the usual suspects, The Gers,Paul D,Paul Mc, Phil the marathon man, Don L, Ant 66, Chen, Linda & Richard,Brian Y, The Thinker, Carl L, Tim M, John Murray, Mark Lassman, Martyn Sharp. Actually not sure Don L is there but good luck if your are matey.
I must get a few final tablists to rail from that lot. Hopefully catch up with most of you in Luton.
-
Lookin 4ward to this one more than any other, not just because I am defending the Title, but because I love Dublin and the irish people. If ever there was a tourney that you don"t mind going out early from it is this one !
Having said that, going out early is not on my agenda. Winning is !
Good Luck to all.
BCPC 4 THE WIN !!

So here I sit in the Fitz.
A 4.30am start for a 6.30pm flight that I made by the skin of my teeth. Who should I run into at the airport on arrival but Jack Prime and Paul Petcher. Fancy that, three Leicester City fans, less than 12 hours after our 6-1 drubbing. No words needed to be said, a raised eyebrow or two said it all.
We shared a cab into town, they"ve gone wandering while I am getting up to speed
A text arrived from Leigh earlier to say he and John Murray are stuck together at Gatwick, plane defective. If Leigh didn"t arrive in time I would be forced to take the photos. I am not sure the APAT gallery is ready for that.
Fortunately he has just arrived
I"ll be back later with news before we start this afternoon.
-
OK play is underway with 80 or so runners to date. Three levels before registration closes, so expect that figure to rise.
Apparently the event clashes today with a big JP Poker event here in Dublin, which is unfortunate for local player participation
However, Dublin Poker is very much spur of the moment stuff, advance planning not part of the scene...so people will no doubt come along to play a bit later
-
Some early sights, and pics coming
Phil Tompkinson with Green hair
Gerard Smyth not drinking
APAT Champions Gareth Johns, Scott Wilson, Tim Magnus and John Murray all here
Defending Champ Brian Yates going for the double
A great chance for these players to get ranking points for the end S4 added value and CofC seat to the winner
-
table draw has Shogun and Duke button to big blind
Andrew and Deb Duncan button to big blind
Paul McGuinness and Frank Bailie side by side
Steve Roderick raising into Gareth Johns, raising into Linda Iwaniak....
-
First player out Damien Bailie, Aces, all in on a Jack High flop, called by J-8. River Jack
Gerard Smyth Senior all in 3rd hand Aces versus Queens, holds and doubles through a local player...local player set to be second exit....
This could be over tonight if J-8 and Q-Q want to stack off in a 10,000 chip 45 minute all levels comp in the first fifteen minutes!

This was before this hand happened.
On a board of 4s 8c tc
Paul sees a player raise to 600 and a caller. Paul reraises to 2k with ac 5c.
Original bettor reraises to 5k, caller folds and Paul shoves for 11k.
Original bettor dwells and then eventually calls with 4d 4h.
No help for Paul, he"s left with 175 chips and after a quick treble up, then departs.

How many runners compared to last year?
About half, 80 compared to 150
- Scheduled differently, at a really busy time of the poker year
- Sandwiched between DTD and Luton on the APAT schedule
- Venue problems
- Local players elsewhere, events in Ireland every week for ages..the market is becoming v saturated
etc etc
Still, an APAT title, the GUKPT seat, ranking points, medal, trophy and significant media exposure await our champion

Ladies Gaelic football refs?
Correct
(http://irishmediawatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Referees-Keith-Delahunty-Magge-Farrell-and-Eugene-OHara.jpg)
A new sponsorship deal between Specsavers and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association will ensure all of the sport"s national All-Ireland panel of referees have their eyes firmly focused on the game. At the announcement are Ladies Football referees, from left, Keith Delahunty, Maggie Farrell, and Eugene O"Hare. Croke Park, Dublin.
Have just googled Scottish Referees, and they sponsor them aswell.
Clever bit of marketing in my opinion

For referee jerseys they look quite smart n shiny

Tim Magnus is going for his 2nd APAT Title, after winning APAT Wales a few years ago.
Steve Roderick has cashed for the 4th time this season (must be a record), his 2nd succesive final table, and is now leading the seasons rankings.
Ant has now made another FT, and his 2nd Irish FT in 3 years, which is the same as Bobby, who finished 2nd here 2 years ago.

Well done Steve Rodders for your 2nd place. Well deserved.!!
Hope that when Chen went out you said to him, dont you learn..!! :)
-
Bit of feedback on the Live Updates..... superb!! Really eased the annoyance of not being there - so much better than the Live Feed. I"ve been out for most of day and following updates on phone, then got home and caught up.... couldn"t do that with Live Feed
(and would have to watch Live Feed with volume down so as not to annoy the missus and disturb viewing on X-factor!)

A short interview with our Irish Champion

W played all on final table, unlucky rod for back to back runner up....well done to winner simon..
must agree, much easier to rail from home with updates rather than live feed....enjoy all the ad lib aswell...
-
Simon here, enjoyed reading over those updates :) Cheers for the well wishes. Still don"t know how I managed to luckbox my way back from the dead on the final table. I felt sorry for Chen as that cooler 3 handed was sick after all his work to get into that spot, nice bloke though and a pleasure to have on the table.
Anyway back in the grind now, so I"ll guess I"ll cyas again at an event in the future.
All the best,
Simo

Gutted for Ant, outdrawn yet again, just like on every one of his 23 previous APAT FTs.
-
Just got home to read through the entire thread, congrats to all the final tablers especially the medal winners. Once again huge thanks to Tighty, Leigh and all those at The Fitz for another memorable APAT experience. ;)

A few things I learnt whilst playing a few sit n" go"s with the gang last night (A number of which were BCPC members)
1 - The meaning of the word pineapple.
2 - I have gained a reputation for playing any two cards. Don"t know how ?
3 - Will Young has a sixth sense when it comes to poker, and he wasn"t even in Dublin.
4 - BCPC have a strange explanation for what"s happened to Des lately.
5 - Verbal bullying a friend heads up, just to win a sit n go, is very bad form indeed.
6 - Don"t ever listen to Andy Duncan or my advice when aforementioned bullying is happening as the results can be disastrous. Sorry Debs. ;D
7 - Don"t play the Chinese at poker in The Fitz, we think they play with a marked deck. ;)
8 - Ant Williams does actually play other hands than KK, AA. It"s true, I saw it with my own eyes.
-
Just read through the reports, great up dating as usual from the guys, well played all at the FT, really UL for Ant and Tim, they were by my count the 5th and 6th people to go out with Queens when going in ahead (Inc me!). Really enjoyable weekend even though the poker was pretty disastrous! How good is Guiness?
-
Just on the ferry homeward bound. Another fantastic time in Dublin. Cheers to Rich and Leigh for all the work once again.
WP the Fitz. Pat and the crew in Larry"s. WP to all the F.T ers. Some vul people, specially Ant, sure it"ll come matey.
Rodders absolute magic back to back silvers, wd mate :)
Cheers to Paulie for fri night at Latchfords. I know it"s been said 100 times before but oh the Craic.
We had a wonderful meal last night and got an eastern Karaoke, live version of the beatles and other 60/70"s songs. So very surreal, but bloody fantastic. On to o"donohues with Jack and Paul......Wey hey Cisco F.T.W. ;D
Thanks all that shared time with us over the whole weekend, great company, roll on 2011.
See you in Luton, cheers
Paul Mac

So what is the meaning of PINEAPPLE then ?
-
Great updates from Rich & Leigh. It is really good to be able to read through after returning from the event and fill in all the gaps. Another top weekend, well done to the champion and those at the final table, see you all in Luton.
-
Great updates, how you guys do it when running those things to that level is amazing.
Great weekend, great people, you all know who you are so I won"t name you all. Nothing else I can add really. It was good to meet Phil, Andy and the Stockton Rock (who"s name I have forgotten sorry) for the first time.
The funniest part of the weekend was having completed the tournament I stroll into Larry Murphy"s where most of the lads have been all day Paul Mac asks me if it is gold or silver and I hand him the very silver medal. In the light it looks like a gold medal, Paul shouts "its gold" and all the guy"s start cheering and it takes about a minute to explain it is actually silver :-)
Dublin was great. Thanks for the support from everybody. I didn"t play well on day two and was lucky to come second to be honest. Thought had a pretty good day one though.
I will get it done eventually though. Bring on Luton.
-
Shout out :- Nice 1 leigh and rich for runnin the game
,
crackin time in Ireland, me and the misses throughly enjoyed the Irish leg
see you guys in luton!!!

quality rub from Paul there ;D ;D ;D ;D
ul though steve. I hope top of the rankings is some consolation (if you can stay there). You will be a worthy winner

some interesting(?) facts about this Final Table.
Swansea was not a cash (only the final table was paid). I have only cashed three times
Aberdeen
Nottingham
Dublin
I thought Darren cashed 3 times in 2008 also? Will check that

Thanks Chen,
One thing that I would like to point out. The way you handled yourself at the poker table was a joy to watch. No matter whether you won a pot or lost a pot you had a smile on your face.
And the way you reacted with those unfortunate hands when down to 3 players is a reflection of the true gentleman that you are.
Long may we see you at APAT events. Great respect for your game and your attitude.

a great week end. thnx to richard and leigh for a well run game.
good craic all round
see you in luton

Fantastic weekend apart from the poker, Leigh and Tighty and APAT as always thankyou. Don"t know what I"d do without the APATs. Seriously. Thankyou.
Congrats to all the final tablers and to Simon on winning, well done sir.
Thanks to so many people that made this weekend so enjoyable, will probably miss some people so apologies, but Ger Snr and Get Jnr (both legends is an understatement), Dan, Danny, Paulie (yes you were right it was miles away), Mike (queens are evil), Paul (its gold!.. oh..lol), Carl, Mark (treats his other half to the best meals), John, Richard from Luton (nice to sit next to you for a while), Martyn, Brian (horrible beat), Andy O (you run so bad.. but can give directions perfectly), Linda (sorry!), Jack (always a pleasure), Tim (well played fella), Chen (top fella WP and well done was my pick to win it), and finally Rodders great to meet and chat to you as well, lovely guy and another fantastic result again, WP.
Personally things I"ve learnt this weekend include
1. Pocket queens are rubbish
2. Never ever play a hand against Chen
3. Guinness is a thing of beauty
4. The "random shot game" is one of the best games of all time
5. Wine bars that sell just wine are rubbish
6. Night porters at 4am do not like talking to people with green hair
7. Green hair dye does not come off easily
8. Do not get cheeky with policemen at airports :(
Lastly would like to thank the Stockton Rock (Matty.. seriously though "who are you?" haha) for putting up with my guinness fuelled shouty snoring
and being a star all weekend top man. F.A.B.
See you all at Luton.

LOL, thanks!
Was a good weekend, and definitely enjoyed my first APAT tournament of the year.
I agree with you on the QQ hand. Twice I lost with them. Once against AQ and once against A10!
See you all for at Luton!

Gareth Johns pushes 4-4
Bobby Murphy finds A-A behind
Aces hold and Gareth Johns is out 10th
Remember Rich?
