Live and Exclusive from the G Casino, Luton. APAT is proud to present the latest in it"s award winning live update threads.
This weekend we are in Tighty"s backyard and the home of many many APAT regulars.
Join us from 2.30pm on Saturday 23rd, when we will fill in all the missing details of what happened on the evening of Friday 22nd, aswell as following the players in the APAT English Amateur Poker Championships and also the APAT Pro League, Luton event.
apat.tv will be back up and running after taking a break whilst the tour hit Dublin last month, so the updating team will be at full strength to give you the quickest response to your shout outs and chipcount requests, whilst visually stimulating you with the latest photos from the table, and then sending you into sensory overload with cutting edge commentary and strategic analysis with live feeds from the feature tables.
Hold onto your hats, strap yourselves in, take the phone off the hook, put out the cat and stock up the fridge because it"s gonna be a lively one.

Tighty.....BEHAVE !!
-
Here at Tighty Towers the email has been humming with good luck messages for our players, as they head off in the next 24-36 hours to the Luton metropolis to pit their wits against their peers. And Steve Redfern
Here are a selection
Firstly, for Mr Redfern himself
(http://images.teamtalk.com/08/08/800x600/Rebecca-Adlington-two-golds_1117497.jpg)
"See Steve, Two APAT Gold medals in the picture. Been a while since you got one of those isn"t it? All those hours supervising Swimming galas, and all the hopes that your children could one day swim in the Olympics. However concentrate please, forget the galas for one weekend, and take down another APAT. If only so you can have a display picture like Yates. Only bigger. Good luck Steve"
-
(http://epl.theoffside.com/files/2010/06/hodgson.jpg)
Roy Hodgson has a message for Scouse Bayliff
"Steve, this is my look when I have a big hand but don"t want anyone to know. I know we haven"t given you much to smile about recently. We even lost to Everton. However brighter times are ahead. We might finish fourth bottom. Good luck in Luton. Remember that talk we had about being quiet and sober? Good lad"
-
Foghorn Leghorn has a message for Craig MacInnes
(http://www.wallpapersweb.com/images/4/8496.jpg)
" I say I am the loudest, I say I am. Not you, me. I say good luck in Luton, but put the career as my stunt double on hold for one weekend please. I say put it on hold, I say"
-
Phil Laak has a message for Andy Overton
(http://www.oddjack.com/wp-content/phil_laak1.jpg)
"Unabomber? You? Study the look Pants Man. This is mean and moody. Well played for trying though, and good luck in Luton"
-
Sven Goran Erikkson has a message for Martyn prime, Paul Petcher and someone else
(http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/05_02/svenDM2705_468x791.jpg)
"No Martyn, I do not want to go walking in Luton on Friday. I have, er, another arrangement in my Leicester hotel room. One second thats my phone ("Hello sweetheart, why yes dear 2.30pm is good"). Good luck in Luton Martyn and Paul. Martyn, do you work for Easyjet?"
-
Fern and Phil have a message for Debjani and Andrew Duncan
(http://www.memorabletv.com/new/ALL_STAR_MR_AND_MRS_1.jpg)
"Win at Luton, well Debs win, Andrew finish 12th or something, and you can come on the next series of All Star Mr and Mrs if you like?
First question......Debs, Andy has AK on the button to a raise and a re-raise, but the re-raise is from Tony Trippier. Does he a) call b) shove or c) fold or d) fold quickly?
ok, see you at the studios soon"
-
Mr Gilbert from The Inbetweeners has a message for Rob Swindells
(http://www.comedy.co.uk/images/library/people/180x200/i/inbetweeners_gilbert.jpg)
Greg Davies, the actor says
"Hello Rob I am delighted to be on This is Your life (ed. It"s not This is your life Greg). Sorry I wil start again. Rob, I am delighted to say something random to someone I have never met because you may not know this but I based my portrayal of Mr Davies on you? Yes, you. Next, I get to donk out of 37 APATs, just like you. Good luck in Luton"
-
Sigh. Has it really been that many? If not it could well be soon unless i retire.
-

duck everyone, hide quick. Dawn Dineen is approaching, with Laxie pint in hand
You may have guessed, action is slower now, much slower as people eye the jump from £600 to £1,200 5th to 3rd

Similar to the hand people had been discussing on the acadamy recently, Donk leading with flopped set.

The live feed is, frankly, screwed.
Struggling with the update too. Connection is poor
Is it likely to get back up again or can I stop looking like an idiot with headphones on listening to nowt?
-
the live feed requires a strength and speed of connection we cannot get from the networks here
The update is on a dongle, so its bearable at the moment
I"ll bring major news as it happens, don"t fret. After all, I am the most experienced APAT final tabler in history, having done 643 of them

-
Had a great weekend, it was nice putting faces to names and seeing all the hard work that goes in running these live events by Leigh, Tighty et al, instead of sitting at home glued to the screen watching!
Congratulations to Tod on your win, well deserved, also congratulations to Ian and Colin, not forgetting congratulations to Steve winning the pro event.
-
Well played guys, nice result Ian unlucky, congratulations to Todd. Bring on Coventry 8)
-
Congrat to Todd, great job, also to all players in the money, you did it well. Appreciate the hard work of APAT staff Des, Leigh and Tighty and all who were involved. Was a great weekend ! Hopefully see you soon.
-
That J-6 hand never got a mention on here.....yet Tod (one "D" ) played it masterfully. He played another in a similar fashion against the same opponent today when he pulled another Semi-bluff off well.
A great result....and another BCPC APAT Champion......."The Best Poker Club In The Midlands ?"...you bet we are ;D
-
Just got back and can"t stop grinning! Thanks for all the support, and thanks to Des and the team for a great couple of days. Sleeping in my car on Saturday night now seems worth it...
I made some good new friends, and crucially didn"t get drunk (hmm, perhaps having 10 pints doesn"t help the old concentration?).
Laters!
;D ;D ;D
-
Made it home about 40 minutes ago (been 40 minutes reading through the updates) :o
Congratulations to Todd for taking the win.
Well done Ian.
Still buzzing about my bronze medal. ;D
Thanks to the guys for succesfully organising and running such a great event. And thanks to my railers for the support :P
(Sorry monkeyman - I guess the next Holt Deepstack event will just have to be happy with the parade of the bronze medal)

Thanks APAT again for another fantastic tournament.

Ian, you did say you wanted to do one better than last year, well this time next year I guess your going for GOLD. Sorry mate but I will need Amanda to be by my side again for all the good luck, thanks Amanda.
I had an absolute blast playing this tourney. To all those who played on my table and wished I would just shut up, no chance of that happening and it will continue in Coventry.
See you gals and guys in 4 weeks :)

Best APAT event EVER!!! Not just "cos of Tod and Andy"s wins (Anyone yet mentioned the BCPC double?) but had such a good time hanging out with mates on Saturday nite - thanks guys -especially John Murray for the dance, Laxie, Ger/little Ger, Brendon, Mr & Mrs O, Maxine McKinley (also making some jazzy shapes), Dave Green and of course Tighty, Des and Leigh (my favorite "Mr Fix It"). Also thanks to Michelle and Gav who made the 10Hrs of railing on Sunday nite lots more fun than it might have been! And a special mention to Ray for accommodation assistance. Bit of a rant I know but I had such a good time - couldn"t let it pass without saying so ....xxxx

Huge congrats to Tod - I"m really sorry I couldn"t spend much time watching what with the stud event. Always like to rail our boys home! After that J6 on Sat night you"re a true hero - T Shirts should be printed ;D Kept us talking for ages into the small hours. Really really chuffed you made gold after the tough beat in Walsall. WP GG.
Also WP Ian and James. Ian - 3, 2 , x. What"s x? James it"ll come mate soon enough.
Saturday night was classic - enjoyed it lots. Especially watching Deb serenading the APAT guys... huge laughs. Then she goes and invites Surinder Sunar around for tea and he says he"ll cook us a curry WTF! There"s me and Andy O dribbling and talking to him about old school Late Night Poker (plus moustaches) and she"s got him cooking tea. LOL anyone for a sit and go round ours? Scouse did you get your bag and a wash in the end? :D
Sunday was a long day but huge thanks to my wife for railing me in the stud almost all day and managing to understand the bring in finally after about 10 hours! 1am finish was very late but the tourney had a great structure (much to my surprise). Gav, you"re a bloody tough opponent. Brendan you"re a star - there"s no need to apologise for leaving. Glad u got home safe.
All in all great craic with everyone (too many to mention but you"re all remembered!). Leigh you"re a true gent. See you all in Cov.
APAT weekends FTW!
PS Thanks Ray

I agree with so much on this thread, too many to quote.
Best APAT weekend for me, so far. Topped by Ian getting Silver. (Will he ever stop grinning?) Had a blast hanging out with so many of you who have become great friends.
I was a little disappointed that I was unable to do more updates, but as you are all aware, the connection was terrible and I just couldn"t get Ian"s lap top to log in. Enjoyed railing instead. Glad I could help you Jeldon, hope I can do the same next time. I have to admit that whichever table you are on there are smiles all round. No "poker" faces.
Ok, so I got lost in the bathroom, (long story, and wine was involved), but at least it gave Ian something to talk about instead of his medal.
Thanks again APAT staff for yet another great event.
Great job Ian xxxxx

Saturday night was classic - enjoyed it lots. Especially watching Deb serenading the APAT guys... huge laughs. Then she goes and invites Surinder Sunar around for tea and he says he"ll cook us a curry WTF! There"s me and Andy O dribbling and talking to him about old school Late Night Poker (plus moustaches) and she"s got him cooking tea. LOL anyone for a sit and go round ours? Scouse did you get your bag and a wash in the end? :D
THAT had me in stitches! Was like watching two school girls who had a massive crush on the local jock. He"s just a guy - so gather yerselves at the home game FFS! LOL
Too many names to mention, so thanks everyone. xx
It was rather sad.
Me - Errrrm, hi Surindar, errm, my names Andy, i used to watch you on Late Night Poker, you"re one of the reasons i got into the game, gush, gush.
Andy D - So, Surindar, how come you got rid of the moustache?
Debs - So, fancy coming round ours for a curry?
:) :) :)
Congrats to Andy D on winning the Stud, and again to Tod for the main event. Has anyone mentioned it was a BCPC double yet? ;)
jh 6c - The new NUTS!
PS - If anyone"s going to the bar, mines a shot of Sambuca! Dan Owston is paying. :)
-
That"s not fair. It was actually jh 6h.
Will, there was so much strategy involved I"ll wait to tell you in person ;D
-
Well played Andy - there were some top players on that FT, Gavin & Graham in particular!
Great to finally meet you and Deb, see you at the next one
Thanks JP, great to meet you too!
By the way I was mixing you up with none other than jbworldwide whom I"d also previously never met - separated at birth or am I just blind? Same accent as well!

Another thank you from me! My first APAT live event and I had an absolute blast! Despite a painful bad beat in the ME I had a really good evening playing some Sit N Go"s and just enjoyed the atmosphere and people!
A special mention to fellow Luton Players Omar, JP, Richard, Will and others at the SnG who made it really enjoyable (and donated to the winnings too!). And a special thanks to Tighty for making me so welcome on Saturday when I turned up nervous and clueless!
Hoping to make it to Coventry!
Jo :)

High value SnGs ftw just don"t mention them to Andy Overton ;)
When can we come for Sunday Lunch Jo?
-
Ah ha ha ha! Cracking dealer we had there! ;)
And true to form, Sunday dinner was Lamb wit hall the trimmings and a home made apple pie! Just what was needed after crawling in the door at 3am! Worse than the walk of shame that was!! And of course you are all welcome anytime!!!

Think me and you have a VERY different interpretation of high value! :)
They weren"t even worth playing for comedy value when a bit drunk. And five quid for the "privilege" of having a dealer who couldn"t deal!

As drunk as I was I actually asked the dealer why we were paying £50 for a single table SnG in juice. I agree with Andy on this one, but it was good fun to see said dealer pass him the pot and then for Andy to lose it twice. 1st the pot and then his patience (admittedly quite dignifiedly.......if that"s a word ???)
Mums dinners FTW apparently ;D
-
OK I can"t wait any longer.....WTF does FTW mean FFS?
Apols for donk question of the decade but it"s driving me potty!
-
Mums dinners FTW apparently ;D
Mums dinner sounded definitely "for the win" (<---- Rich) :) has to be sorted for next year I reckon in advance
Andy.. sorry.. think it might have been my fault you got involved in the 2nd one, was fun to watch though from a distance ;D

In case others don"t get some of them, will do the lot:
WTF = What the Feck
FTW = For the Win
FFS = Fer Feck Sake

I"ve got his face painted on an egg. Honestly ;D
Great weekend again in Luton. Far too numerous to mention, but exceptions for Rudders and Dave Green, you know allinbob2 ;D ;D Great fun sharing.
Congrats to all medallists, ft"ers and day two"rs.
Chicago..........................FTW ;)

Defo Mum"s dinner FTW although I am my Mother"s daughter and don"t do a bad roast myself!
Was there another SnG after I left?! Poor Andy, so close to that pot...who"d have thought a FH beats AA?!?!

There"s no might about it Phil. I blame you entirely! ;D

Well, it"s been a few days since Amanda and I got back from Luton, and I"m still grinning ;D
Got to thank Rich, Leigh, Des and everyone else that helped put on another superb APAT event over the two days - Dafydd, from what I heard, you"re a natural on the mic.
Luton is a fantastic venue with great dealers and staff - thanks to all at the Luton G.
Congratulations to all the players at the final table (or "top" table as Amanda keeps calling it). Major congratulations to Tod on taking the title though, it was very much deserved, and Colin on taking Bronze. I felt for James finishing 4th, a great player, with a great game.
As for my silver, I thought I"d peaked last year in Bolton with Bronze, but to go one better this year has stunned me somewhat - luckboxing a medal two years running, wow, lol :D Thanks to everyone who railed me via the forum and posted messages of support via FaceBook and text, it was much appreciated.
It was great to catch up with old friends and a few new ones, too many to mention all of them here, Paul, Dave, Dafydd, Jeldon, Jack, Ger, the quiet one (I think she was called Dawn :D ), James...
Hope to see you all at an APAT event sooooooooon.

I should Coco!
To be fair I don"t think I can step up to the role of APAT Clown....... Let"s be honest, that last clown had some pretty big shoes to fill :D.................... >>>> I"m here all week.
Now, how to respond?
I have a great idea for a visual gag to get back at James for this.... All I need now is an imgae of JB playing a hand.............. oh well nevermind, it would have been funny!

I prefer Dave Green"s approach to him - "Do you know who I am? I"m Allinbob!"

Its took me a while to post after Luton as my Liver has been so sore!!!! And my Ribs from all the laughing lol. Yet again thaks to Des, Leigh, Tighty and the APAT Ladies. I dont get to many of the APAT's now I"m oversea"s(thank god I here you say) but I had to get back and play the seat I won in Swansea (blatant brag), and I love playing in Luton. Friday night was a great laugh meeting up with the usual suspects lots of old faces and a few new ones. Woke up with Paul Mc in the bed beside me!!! Told me not to get out of the bed on the left side, "why" I asked, because John"s on the floor!!!! I looked down to see a pile of blankets, we looked in the wardrobe, bath and under the bed!!! The Poker on Saturday was ok I put all my chips in with 10 10 on a J967 board, against a good player, he took a while but he called with AA!!!!!!! no help on the river and that was that.
So bring on the dancing woop woop!!!
Part 2 to follow........
