Title: Sharkscope...
Post by: hi_am_chris on November 16, 2007, 08:20:34 AM
Anybody else managed to sneak into any of their leaderboards?

Tbh I don"t rate Sharkscope, it"s too easy to block and is imho very inaccurate. For instance it has me as playing 15 tournies on Stars in the last 2 years losing approx $300, lol.

I prefer officialpokerrankings.com which work on true results direct from the sites themselves, although they can"t take into account final table deals.

Sharkscope only shows stt"s (I"m pretty sure) whereas OPR is only mtts with 45 or more people in it.

Completely different.

Remember that the 180-seater SNGs on PokerStars do show on Sharkscope.  It"s not just STTs that show, it"s SNGs (and these can be MTTs).

Completely different.

And OPR doesn"t show private tournaments - for example The Hendon Mob league games. I don"t think Sharkscope picks up every Sit and go either.

Basically I think these sites will only work if they included all the data - as they don"t then I don"t think you can get a realistic reading from them.

Like poker, it"s about incomplete information.  Make from it what you can.

I generally use OPR to see how people I know are getting on.  I also use it when some donkey out draws me after calling raises with bad hands, just to make myself feel better.  Ah, he hasn"t cashed  for 8 months and only has a 33% rating, no wonder :D

That sort of thing, it cheers me up :)

sharkscope accuracy varies dependant on the site.

Cryptologic is almost complete (+98%), pokerstars is reasonable (80-90%),whilst ipoker network is very poor ( about 60% ).

If your just looking at how people do at regualar sit n goes on a site like stars then im pretty sure they get 95 percent of the results at least id not more, as far as i can tell they pick up every sit n go i play and ive played a few lol

Don"t forget that it includes the MTT SNGs as well.  These can dramatically skew the results.

I"m down as a "shark", but I only play the MTTs.

Yeah but they also have separate leaderboards for one table and multitable along with average profits for last 12 months and total profits

I"ve tried one of those but I didn"t cash so I"m sticking to the single table SNG"s.

I"m also marked as a "shark" with sharkscope..... just proves it can"t be right  :P
