Managed to win a seat for the Betfair London Live on 12th February at the Fox Club. I know Ian (pables) and Debbie (sussex girl) Scouse and Don Logan are playing it, I was just interested if there are any more Apater"s playing this for me to look out for/rail. Please let me know below and I will keep an eye out for you.
-
Nice thread. I"ll be interested to know who else is going too, but then I"m nosy ;D
Are you not playing or trying to win a seat yourself?
-
Leigh and Louis are playing it Don.

Yes I am playing Debbie I am the Don who was on the same table as you in the qualifier, you might be getting me mixed up with Don Logan.
See you there Ian seems like we might reach double figures, lets hope we put up a good show.

I"m still looking for cheap digs, may have to stay at Travel lodge Heathrow and travel in. Any ideas of hotel deals etc
-
won a seat, but other things on now so can"t make it, so going to take the cash option ( if they ever respond to my email), shame cause Ive heard a lot good things about the Betfair live games.
good luck

I hear the travel lodge at london city airport is cheap at weekends and close to the dlr and tube.

Mike,
I understand the cash option is $260 ?
If so, you might be better off selling it on here and just transferring the name ?
Apologies if I"m wrong.
-
My cash option was $280, so definitely better off selling it I reckon. The Klup was looking for seats to buy for other people, but don"t know if he still is.
-
I"m playing Don. See you there. Bring your trunks just in case!!!
-
I"m playing too.
-
I"ve got one of these seats. ;D
Spent the expenses money already ::)
-
I assume SATS have finished for this now?
-
No they are still being played daily

Don"t be silly Rich, sandals are all Don requires to negotiate any pool of water!

Ty.

Leigh and Louis are playing it Don.
Yes - looking forward to it - I have not played one of these before - perfect set up.
Fingers crossed for some nice match ups.
Is there any info with regards to who is in the field?

Betfair email today is interesting reading ... despite the obvious typo of playing level 6 twice and not having a dinner break.
It looks very much like day 1 is designed to get us to the money.
1.7m chips in play ... last level of day 1 is 2500/5000 (300) ... so guess average stack is 20BB ... so guess 17 players left??
2pm start is a shame (originally 1pm) ... so we will (hopefully) end day 1 at 1.50am ...
Feels like a £50 taxi home - yawn.
Plus side is a sensible proposed finish time on Sunday ... we shall see ...

Well, I am not good enough/rich enough to play in the live weekend tournament so unfortunately wont be in attendance.
However I and probably Jeldon will be going up on the Friday night to play the £30 freezout. 8k starting stack with 15/20 minute blinds. Will see some of you guys if you are up. It normally has around 130 runners and the standard is nearly as poor as you can get! So for some reason I fit in quite well!
If you can make it then I will see you there!
-
I"ll try and bring a few spares aswell for anyone else playing.

Please don"t ask me to wear one. I"ll leave the blokey t-shirts to you blokes ;D

Are there any strange rules to prevent me wearing the Scotland APAT shirt from Nottinngham? It"s a toss up between that and one with a green tractor on it at the moment.

Covent Garden is right next to Leicester Square, and pretty close to Piccadilly Circus.
You can"t miss them, because there is a great big water works in the middle of them, and the streets are painted yellow. ;D

End of day 1
Pretty smooth running day once I got a start ...
Late position 54o - ideal for a raise ... flat called in the big blind ... mmm
Flop Q73 (two diamonds) ... I bet into this ... flat called ... mmm
Turn is the heavenly 6 of spades ... I bet ... my opponent raises ... I go all in ... he calls with no outs ...
Now chipped up early I do my duty in eliminating short stacks ... AQ vs A4 and AT vs 99 ... T on the river ...
Next big hand I limped with QQ ... next to act all in with 22 BB"s ... I call ... though I have him fairly well covered ... flop Kxx ... turn ... blank ... river Q ... it just a race of course ... but nice to win two in a row ...
Table then broken ... but two lovely spots to push first with QQ vs first two limpers ... and secondly have two raises ... AK open folded ... suits me ...
So on 73,300 vs 60k (ish) average ... 26 remaining all paid ... full set of chips never at risk ... game on ...
Tables are not re-drawn - so my table looks fine with three larger stacks and three short stacks - one mid stack ...
Leigh Wiltshire is on 98k ... hopefully one of us can take it down ...
Resume play at 2pm ...
Louis
-
Well done both!

Back at the hotel and tucking into a late night Subway sandwich. This London town sure is busy on a Saturday night.
Debs has made it back for day two aswell. She"s got a bit of a shortstack of 14k, but is currently rather pleased with herself for making day two and cashing, and quite rightly she should be. Really pleased for her, such a nice lady.
Not really had many hand stories to tell today, won a few, lost a few, got rather lucky once early on to set me on my way (It was only a 12k pot, but if I hadn"t binked, I"d have been out).
There seems to be some updates on the Betfair Forum, so feel free to have some banter with Helmuthian Folds over there. I was going to paste over the chipcounts for the end of day, but their not quite as efficient as some updaters (I can hear Tighty sighing from here ;D )
Tomorrows another day, and I need some sleep.
Oh, and I knocked Rich Baker out late on in the day. Sorry Rich, I felt quite bad about it. As you said, it was a legitimate play, and I was ahead, but never good knocking out someone I consider a friend close to the money.

A legitimate play indeed it was to my short stack (my stupid fault >:() Good luck tomorrow Leigh and also to Debs and Louis.

Cheers mate.
I have a little bit of time before needing to get jiggy.
Not quite sure if this is adrenalin or red bull that has me awake at 5am ... but looking forward to the show ...
Betfair/Fox have put on a grand event - still think they should pay top 17 and give the winner an extra £4,200 - but that said I got the tube home last night so that is +£50 vs taxi fare.
Hopefully their massage girls are in play today ... very pleasing to get a free massage 30 seconds into an event ... much needed after playing football on Friday night.
FTW.

-
Neil doesn"t like this ...
Ch1p VVUL as he shoves to a min raise and the min raiser calls him with KJ and Ch1p turns over AQ.
Flop xxx Turn x River J :"( :"( :"(
Leaves Ch1p very short stacked on about 45k.
-
Got a double up, K9 v A4, Bink.
Amazing final table bubble hand, just updated on Betfair forum.
Final table, I"ve got 98k, Louis has about 120k.
Make sure you say hello to Dave (aka Helmuthian Folds) on the Betfair forum, he"ll get lonely otherwise.
-
FINAL TABLE for Leigh and Louis :)
Quoted from Betfair updates ...
Monster hand.
Savva Savvaidis shoves with AQ as a short stack, next guy shoves with 10 10, Andreas Nikolopoulos shoves with 10 10 and Phillip Chan calls with AA and his hand holds up easily.
So Savva was 12th
Andreas was 11th
We are now having a 40 minute break before the final table begins with two APAT players still alive and kicking.

Hi All. I"ve literally just walked in the door at home. Have no internet access when away as have rubbish phone and didn"t want to lug laptop on the train.
Anyway just wanted to say a totally MASSIVE thankyou to everyone who either text me, hugged me, kissed me, facebooked me or passed on messages via other people. As you can all gather I was so, so happy to cash. It"s my first ever live cash. I also managed to complete one of my poker aims for the year, which was to make a Day 2. Need to think of another one now!
I"ve had the most brilliant weekend. lots of poker and have met lots of nice people too. It was great to put some faces to the names.
I was mega short stacked going into Day 2 but when I shoved with AK I had a slight glimmer of hope for a double up. The guy who called with 94 had no choice really and was just lucky to hit a 4.
Fox Poker Club is very good. The dealers are excellent. Food was okish, chilli, curry, rice, chips and some salad. We all got massage vouchers in our packs. Needless to say I gave mine away both days. The APATer who wanted me to use it so he could video the proceedings shall remain nameless, but you know who you are ;)
No detail about hands as I have a memory like a sieve. If I think of any once I"ve had some sleep I will post them.
Thank you all once again for your support. Roll on Season 5 ;D

Very well done Debs,

Aside - here is Leigh's conqueror ...
http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=36165
Not a bad best win ...
All that said - Leigh and I met the same fate ... no cards and need to shove ... no help when required ... for the most part I skimmed along slightly above average waiting for some cards! Nothing better then TT today ... no action with AA twice yesterday ...
Those with chips for the most part have just had the cards ... nothing magical on the tables beyond a little bit of playing the big stack well ... I don"t think I would have played any of the hands differently ... you can always shove earlier with 89s or whatever but the A9s raise to which I lost was on the button to my big blind ... so KTo very likely to be ahead ... 40% even when called ...
Very tempted to play in Tallinn April 15-17th ... which I think is going to be a 500+50 Euro buy in ... 2 day 1"s for 200-250 runners ... all the final table got $120 satelitte tickets as well as their prize ... (winner get a $1000 package) ...
Thanks for all the good luck messages ...
Good to meet a few people ... make them real ... apols to those I didn"t catch up with ... I started the tournament feeling a bit beat up ... but got in the zone ... a good feeling ... but it doesn"t always make you very socialable.
Looking forward to season 5 - though not sure how much I will be able to play.
Louis

Well done everyone.

... it"s kind of weird to give the cheque as the monies are transferred straight back to your account ... but I do really want a big cheque!
Next Betfair Live is April 15-17th in Tallinn : I don"t think the details are out yet.
Hopefully qualify with $120 ticket for making the final table - but very tempted to buy in direct.
