Title: 888 Site - General Discusssion
Post by: KarmaDope on March 09, 2011, 22:47:35 PM
Until the official board comes...

Anyway, thoughts? First glances (for 4 years, last deposit on there was Feb 2007!) was that it wasn"t what I remembered.

Tourneys: No antes in some bigger comps worries me slightly. Plus points for late reg. Plus points for guaranteed tournaments. Looks ok if a bit on the slow side.

STTs: Lots of choice. Good for single table guys. MTTSNGs? Nope. Weak at best.

Cash: Wow. Video tables????? Video tables? That is awesome just weird. Although a 6 max APAT cash game on one of these would be pretty funny.

look out for some of the regular evening tournies - hugely soft and great value..... particularly the Daily Challenge tournies - if I remember correctly, there is usually some overlay in these.

The holding tank closes on the 20th to give 888poker a week to get the money to the casino.  Same as last year.  Give them a chance to set them up please.

just had a look in the STT lobby and they have a very interesting concept called "final table simulation"

players start with 40K. blinds are 1K/2K/200.

top 9 get paid though only top 3 make a profit.

no takers though

Minutes or Hours?

I have indeed checked my junk folder - there were some intesting items in there.

Did you know, for instance, that you can buy pills that make you instantaneously sexually irresitible??

I"ve used the Contact Us area and got the auto-generated reply to say they have my query.

I have plans for that £5 - I"m going to spin it up to pay for Vegas in November. Or not go.

I know there"s an option to save them to your PC somewhere in the settings but I don"t know how long they stay. I can"t think of any reason why they would "auto-delete" from there.

EDIT: Setting - Game Settings...but it"s not on by default and you get to select how many days you want to keep them. Set it to 9999 and it"ll probably be enough

RE-EDIT: Are they videos...that seems unnecessarily data intense. I"ll have to turn on the option and check.

RE-RE-EDIT: Nope...Text file.

RE-RE-RE-EDIT. Found this on the 888 forum.

Quote

The stages of converting text hand histories

Firstly you need to check you are saving your hand histories, go to lobby and click on settings, then hand history, a window will appear, make sure you have checked the "save my hand histories" box, you will see a folder destination, click open folder and you will go to your hand history folder, now double click on the folder that appears, as long as you have been saving them you will see history files, find the file for the game you want and double click it, when the file opens you will see lines of text, the text is continuous and you will have to read through until you find the hand you want, this gets easier once you get used to it, once you have found the hand left click at the start of the hand and highlight the whole hand, now right click and copy

Now you need a hand converter

I use http://www.handhistoryconverter.com/ (http://www.handhistoryconverter.com/)

When you open the site you will see a box on the left side to convert the hand, right click in this box and select paste, now scroll down and click "convert hand" after a short while the page will refresh and the converted hand will appear, highlight the hand then right click and copy, you are done

Apparently not. Sucks donkey balls. Especially as timer is short anyway.

Also had major issues with typing in amounts where it"s decided 220 out of 1780 equals all-in. Need to be very careful especially when multi-tabling.

Most annoying thing though is the 6 max tables pay 3 players. Makes them pointless!

Thanks, ill look into this time bank settings. Wouldnt wanna play more than 2 tables if you cant have a time bank.
And i agree with you andy about the betting. The slider moved up in ratios of the BB for me which is normal pre flop i guess (maybe you can fix this somewhere), but i found it so hard to caculate open raises of 2.5x and for 3 bets also. Typing it in the box was a pain especially as the clock ran down so quickly.

APAT tournaments should have sync breaks.

Sync breaks are not quite active yet on all tours as we are waiting for most players to have latest version where all this was supported. We"ll turn it on for everything in a week or two.

Also the next version, (May), will have a heap of cool never-seen-before features, and also will have better hand history.

Btw, if you have VERY old 888 or pacific client, it may not have upgraded when you launched it. Can download latest version direct from www.888poker.com

I was playing a cash game, on one of the webcam tables earlier, a guy left his wife playing a hand, i had pocket jacks, an ace came out on the flop, i raised to see what was about, he came back and i heard her telling him he had kq, he called, the turn and river came down with nothing for him, he went all in after the river, i called and walked away with a nice pot. makes the game a lot easier! Looking for a way to disable the mic on my laptop now!

Just had a look and mine is set to automatic and yet i"ve yet to see a timebank. Was particularly annoying in last nights APAT and i know others had the same problem. Hope it gets sorted for the next one.

I get a minute timebank playing a $10 Stars tourney (with extra time added at the breaks) so surely in an APAT main event we get one?

yes you can.  what you can"t do however is my favourite rebuy tactic which is ship stack below rebuy threshold (strong hand obv) and immediately rebuy.  do this on sites like stars or betfair and if you win the hand, your rebuy is added to your stack.  on 888 it states you can"t add the rebuy as you have too many chips.

I have noticed a few things.
The freezeouts are quite easy even for a player of my ability.
There are a large amount of aggressive playing Spaniards who appear to raise on the first round of betting but fold a lot if they are re-raised.
If you play the MTT in the morning there are a lot of Australians who think that every bluff they try that gets called and beaten has to have been done by a "fish" and any bluff that I do that wins makes me a "donk".
The amount of good hands that are well played and make you think it was done correctly are nearly always met with abuse from the losing player. Very rarely do you get a "wp" or "nh" from the loser, only normally from the chip leader or the one near to the bottom of the prize money.
I love the "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" when I am playing my hand.

Finally, playing the APAT tourneys and League games is certainly a lot harder than playing against regular 888 players.

lol - nice observations.

The last bit is so definitely true - the general standard is incredibly low. I love it.

+1

I type "nh wp" when I lose to an absolute suckout
[X] happens a lot
- the sarcasm is rarely picked up by the aussies

I also type wp when it"s truly appropriate.
[ ] happens a lot

Played an MTT for three and a half hours and I"m 2nd CL on the cash bubble, then all of a sudden - disconnected..! By the time I got back in, the tourney had finished and the only guy who hadn"t been disconnected had robbed the lot. The air was blue.  ;)

I"ve never had much of a problem with 888 and I"ve grown to like the software, but it won"t take many more situations like this one to put me off.

OK first time i have seen a problem but since both me and deb had a prob tonight then this 888 site is truly not to be trusted

Firstly Deb got busted on the LAST hand of the APAT Glasgow qual rebuy period.
It asked her if she wanted to rebuy...yes
then she hit the add on button
but only ended up with 3000 chips. rebuy was 1500, add on 3000
so she should have had 4500 chips, not 3000
text file in HH confirms she asked for a rebuy + addon.
not the first time we"ve heard last hand rebuy/addon problems i dont think?

Secondly I finished 7th for $4.80, but didn"t get paid. The money is not the point, but the principle is. There"s around $30 of buyins that should have been paid out to the final table. It"s robbery not to pay it out. The online cashier confirmed nothing was paid to me but cannot do anything about it - it has to be reviewed by a supervisor.

With all the weight of other evidence this 888 crowd really need to sort their software out.

Also if IIRC it wouldn"t allow Ger to add on and allowed him to get it all in behind on at least 14 occassions

Come on 888 sort it out  :-\

yep I hit the rebuy button while I had above the number of chips, then hit the addon and it failed both.

as for being behind on 14 occassions thats not quite right close but not quite accurate...............

Here"s the bullcrap I received in response to my own gripe of the two:

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for contacting us here at 888poker. My name is Mitchell, of the 888poker support team and I will be assisting you today.

Andrew, this e-mail is in regards to your query, regarding the "APAT Scottish National Live Event Satellite" you played in but have not received the correct pay-out for the said tournament.

Andrew, after a review of your account and your game history it has been noted that you did place 7th in the "APAT Scottish National Live Event Satellite" but there was no pay-out for this particular tournament as this is a Satellite tournament and you can only win a seat into the step up tournament which you did not.

I do sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this may have caused and should you have any more queries or questions please feel free to contact us again.

If you require further assistance in this or any other matter, please feel free to contact us.

Kind regards,
Mitchell J.
Member Support Representative

========================================================
and here is my rather reserved reply:

OK Mr Mitchell J. You"ve just made me extremely MAD!!!!!

Please see attached (I figured you might try to pull the wool over my eyes) - don"t steal players funds. Make sure you pay out all the other guys too.

Shame on 888 poker. You are not worthy of the support of our APAT organisation which is built on trust.

(attached was the screenshot of the lobby which I took just in case some moron called Mitchell J. tried to tell me I was wrong)

===========================================

Our other satellites all generated minor cash places this week - did those guys get paid out I wonder??

Hi AJ

I finished 5th and got paid , incidently it was double what the payout table stated ,

I play 888 nearly every night, usually cash and have had no problems at all other than the recent APAT disasters, but it seems that things are not going well at 888 and they really ought to get their act together. As Andy says APAT deserves better.

Could someone remind me of the telephone number for customer services please ? When I try to log on it says that I can"t because I"m already logged on... don"t like the sound of this.

Edit :  Found the number. Software glitch apparently  :(
