Title: S5 APAT English Online Championship 2011
Post by: Chipaccrual on March 14, 2011, 12:01:15 PM
APAT are pleased to confirm details of the English Online Poker Championship, taking place at 888poker from 8pm on Saturday, March 19th.

The entry fee for the event is $50 + $5, and players entering will start with 10,000 chips and 15 minute blind levels.

The winner of the event will receive a significant cash prize, National Title & Gold Medal and an entry to a UKIPT Main Event.

Satellites to the Online Championship event will be available at 888poker on Monday 14th March, Tuesday 15th March and Wednesday 16th March.  Each satellite will offer one seat awarded for every $55 in the prizepool.

Monday 14th March 2010 - 8pm - $20+$2 Freezeout
Tuesday 15th March 2010 - 8pm - $10+$1 Freezeout
Wednesday 16th March 2010 - 8pm - $5+50c Rebuy

In addition to the main event, APAT are pleased to confirm the English Online PL Omaha Event, taking place at 888poker from 9pm on Saturday, March 19th.

The entry fee for the event is $20 + $2, and players entering will start with 5,000 chips and 15 minute blind levels.

The winner of the event will receive a cash prize as per standard 888poker payouts, and an entry to an APAT National Championship event.

There will be one satellite available at 888poker on Wednesday 16th March at 8pm.  This will be a $5+50c PLO Freezeout and will offer one seat for every $22 in the prizepool.

Both events are Ranking events; with 18 points available to the winner of the Main event and 9 points available to the winner of the Pot Limit Championship event.

Good luck to all participating players.

Hi Leigh.

I intend playing both satellites in the 888 lobby tonight, (I"m easily confused so won"t worry which one is which till I exit the first one!)

My Q is; as I"ve already bought in for Coventry is it OK to just unregister from it in the lobby if I win a seat tonight?

Yes, not a problem.  If you win a seat in a satellite, you will be manually entered into the event by 888poker, which means that you will be able to unregister from the holding tank, and allow someone else to buyin.

thx. The only problem will be me winning a seat!

Presumably that will randomly give the seat to the lucky person who checks the lobby and sees there"s 119 registered instead of 120?

Or can the "qualified for a comp you"re already registered for" situation be linked to the seat exchange somehow? Seems fairer to give the people who asked first to get any that become available?

Not possible to link to seat exchange as it creates a lot of admin.

I agree, not ideal, but we"re upfront about how it will work, so if a player really wants a seat, then they"ll have to keep an eye on the lobby once the satellites finish.

In the unlikely event that I win a seat, I"d be happy to attempt a synchronised unregister/register manoeuvre with the first person on the list if it could be arranged.

lesson in multi tabling and chatting on the other table

99, called a small raise and a call...thought action was over awaiting flop. meanwhile chatting on other table

click enter..which re-raised my bet....all in all in afterwards.. had to call

99 vs kk vs aa....i then flopped a open ended straight draw...and im kind of glad i missed.

Sorry Jo and Omar!

If there is a timebank in any tourny it only appears with about 6 seconds left on your clock. It appears bottom right, just above betting buttons as a long horizontal button with the number of seconds remaining in it. You have to press it before your "normal" timebank runs out.

I doubt there was a timebank with this being a satellite.

I know I will be playing with "ignore chat" with some players in future. Some of the players didn"t half talk some crap last night after what they percieved as poor play by others. I noticed some players betting 200+ in the first 20 minutes and moaning when they were reraised or outdrawn on the flop. None of them reached the top ten I don"t think so it shows how good they really were. No name and shame yet but maybe I will if they start whingeing about fish again.

Saw a very offensive post on one table last night  that was very un-apat like,,directed at a female player.Didnt recognize the culprit and was wondering if all apat comps should need a password to register as before, then if someone over stepped the mark apat could deal with them as it saw fit ??

I agree that all APAT comps and buy-ins etc should be password protected but any offensive chat should be reported to 888 first via the appropriate channels.

If you have a hand history, you could probably email it to them,

Yeah, we all have different ideas of what is offensive but abuse of any kind should not be tolerated. I can let it wash over me but if someone else reports it, I have no issue with it.

If you wouldn"t say it on this forum, don"t say it in the chat is a pretty simple rule.

By the by, I got some abuse in my first APAT comp on 888poker when I raised with J9o (cos I"m a donkey-fish of course) then called a min-raise, flopped trips and cracked someone"s AA.

Even Scouse was surprised. ;D

It"s an APAT Seat, not a UKIPT seat for the added value in the side event (PLO).

True, but it doesn"t confirm the exact details of the seat, but does direct players to www.apat.com for more information.

And on here, we are clear that the side event is offering an APAT seat as added value.

Good Luck.

Standard 888poker tourneys have late reg, as did our satellites.

Where it normally states the late reg details in the tournament lobby, for tonights games it has details of the added value and APAT website, so I can"t be certain.

I have emailed 888poker to try and get this confirmed before it starts.

If you want to play, I"d reg before 8pm, if you"re not in by then, you may just be lucky and get to late reg.

Over $2.5k to the winner of the main event, plus the UKIPT seat; with 20 mins of registration still to go.  Looking like a great start to the season.

Best of luck to everyone.

The main event (or PLO) isn"t showing in the main poker lobby which we"ll get right for the next round of the Championship.  But a good number of runners to start the season and with 10k chips and 15 minute blinds, it"s going to produce a very worthy Champion tomorrow morning.

I haven"t been in a fight since primary school. Does this mean I am barred from future APAT events?

Only the online ones...all LIVE APAT events are a free for all and open to all weight classes.

I just decided, one guy is too busy... I get JJ...  pre flop, first player raises, busy guy reraises, so I decide to test him with a shove in..  First player folds, busy guy takes maybe 10 secs to call with AA..!!! (Slowrolling me..? )...

Flop J 10 J...  That"ll do

GG me out of NLH. And only timed out twice.

(Going back through thread now) Pay out structure is very weird, but it wont affect me this time. Would seriously hate to grind for 3+ hrs to cash less than buyin. If this is the standard for 888 then very surprised.
Dont see a problem with them putting on PLO at same time, infact i think it better for 2 on the same night.

Been getting my first APAT experience in both tourneys tonight. Just finished 72nd in NLH. Not quite sure how since I never had more than $12,000.

Still in PLO but probably not for much longer.

I do have to say though, despite my failures, I do really like the structure of the tourneys. The deep-stacks and long levels are great. I"ll happily lose money playing these again the future.

I would have to agree, but it is down to the player to make the decision.

For anyone that didn"t see it, whilst heads up and around even stacks, Steve Bayliff got disconnected from the site.

Really unfortunate timing.  Out of APAT's control, and it"s really down to the players involved as to how you choose to deal with a situation like that.

At least 5 minutes should have been given, if not longer.

I cant even believe that some people are even questioning as to why, I would imagine that the majority of APAT players would have sat out and given the guy a chance.

IMHO a very shallow victory

well played guys - I led a charmed life before busting in about 40-50th with KK < AQ.

Did a TT > KK to get there though.

On a happier note, my forgiveness of 888 for stealing my money (t&c"s allowing of course) and my subsequent resolve to play as many tourneys on there as I could has paid off.

I managed to take down the $20 rebuy for $1600 tonight (may have to start my blog up again)

Ugh.  Abso gutted for ya Steve.  Know how you feel because it happened to me a few weeks back playing a random tourney.

However, random tourney is one thing...it should NEVER have happened in an APAT event imo.  Very poor form by the "winner".

Did the software give any opportunity for Steve to reconnect BTW?

Well Done APAT and 888.com for a great tournament structure seems good and plenty of play, same for the side event.

Not 100% sure where I stand on the disconnection issue but a sick way to lose, I would be gutted. Well done to all the finalists though.

Well played to all,,,very unlucky steve, you must be very disappointed to lose coz of disco, think i saw you down to 4k at one point so great effort.
With regard to apat ethos,i thought again, there was some un apat-like chat by some last night,Think the change to 888 has brought some new members, which is great.Lets have the password back so new members have to come to the forum to reg with apat and hopefully read the comments and then pick up on the spirit of apat.

wp all last night and ul steve sounds like you did not have the best of night and did well under the circumstance but frustrating for you all the same. i think it sounds like the player heads up did what everyone does when someone gets disconected raises and takes the blinds and as for people saying , in a random tourney is one thing...it should NEVER have happened in an APAT, well  have you ever thought that last night comp might have been a random tourney to the play playing steve heads up.
I lost count last night how many times i was sitting out because i keep getting timed out and others where as well now when this happend did everyone sit out or let the time run down as you would think they would in the APAT spirit, no they just pressed the raise button and moved on to the next hand

very different situation to be short handed at the business end of the tournament though.

The way I see it is this.  Why would someone want to win an APAT tournament in this manner?  Winning an APAT title should be a moment of pride. Where"s the pride when half the forum are questioning your scruples?  I"d rather win (and he still could have won),or lose, with dignity than take a hollow and guilt-tinged victory that cost me the respect of my peers.  Maybe those things don"t matter to some people though.  If not, fair enough I guess and well done.

losing one bb per orbit 9 handed when the blinds are low is not the same imo as taking someone"s blinds HU when playing for the title.

as i said though, up to the individual and I"m sure he"d have been fully aware of the stick he might get afterwards, but it wouldn"t sit comfortably with me.

Interesting discussion on the disconnect issue. To be honest i am not sure what i would do. Probably lean towards raise and take.

Saying that if the general APAT consensus is that this is not in the APAT ethos and spirit then i will stand by that.

This is clearly a grey area for most. Maybe APAT should have some sort of mission statement to inform all members what we are all about and what is expected.

APAT is not as hostile as most poker forums and is unique in it"s own way. Newer members may not know this.

I like how everyone that didnt win is moaning. Like hell you would of all sat out, i guess its easy to say that when you havnt got 660 bux and a ukipt seat staring in your face. If you are playing live and your late back the game continues. If you have connection issues thats your issue not the other guy at the table ask all the major poker sites. Makes no odds in my minds if you are friends etc. Theres no such thing as a friend in poker...

Congrats Matt and ozfest...... Great wins :D

As a relatively new APAT player, this being my second tournament, I would like to think that it was not as hostile as a random game and that a little bit of respect would take place i.e. the suggestion of the 5 minute sit out then reassess the situation.

Either way, very unlucky Scouse

+1.

We"d all like to think we would have waited and the comparison with a live tourney as above is perhaps the proper way to look at it.

Not doing so is a personal decision and there was a lot at stake.

Doing it after 5 minutes, 10 minutes or an hour doesn"t make any difference...in the end Steve wasn"t there (for whatever reason) and the guy did what he had to.

The chat and forum wordplay is another issue and it"s being looked at.

Morning - As said, I have been a member of APAT for some time so fully understand the ethos of the organisation - Friendly, non aggressive etc etc.  What would you do if your opponent got disconnected - raise, fold?

I must admit that it felt like robbery when i realised my opponent was out of the game, but I didn"t take all the blinds, he was connected and pushed with queen high at the end (I think), with still plenty of play left.

Anyway, well done APAT - good touney.

How about he has a heart attack and is rushed to hospital? Do you wait then and if so, how long...an hour...a day...a month..oh, and the clock is still running too?

At the end of things, online, you don"t know WHY he left, just that he"s gone. Some people would wait a while, some wouldn"t.

Fairly standard APAT running for me. Exited the PLO flopping quads, losing to runner runner straight flush. In all fairness, they flopped a house, but i run gud in APAT events, so had to settle for the miracle knockout.

Holdem was brutal too, AIPF wiv AK vs AK, he rivers flush. then got my crippled stack in with a suited queen, to run into the BBs aces obviously. Good to have APAT back, jus wish i cud get a break for once.

Congrats to all cashers, medal winners and seat winners. Pretty harsh way to lose the ME with disconnection problems, guess thats the risk with online. Cant blame the villain for doing what he did, with the UKIPT seat at stake, but then not really APAT ethos.
Maybe dont play a tourney wiv that type of prize on offer in a fire escape with someone elses internet WI-FI? Just a thought.

As for the non-regulars/abuse of players, these events werent password protected. yes 888 is the sponser and their players are eligable for APAT events but i suggest putting up a new password every event/satellite so that at least these players logon to APAT.com to find the password and play a part in the community in order for it to grow. Rather than someone with no interest in APAT jus logging on and binking a tourney and never seeing them again.

Personally?  I ask for the clock to be stopped and the game to be reconvened whenever.  if they won"t do that, i"d suggest splitting the money by chip count and having a play off for the title at another time.  If that"s not agreed to, I"d probably make a nuisance of myself and refuse to sit down, even it means throwing away my chances of winning if i"m shorter on chips.

I am a bit of a mug for these things though, hence why I am skint.

anyway, i only threw that question in because there seemed to be a suggestion that the same ethics should apply to live and online games, but the "broken down car" scenario didn"t really tie in with the scenario under discussion.

FWIW it appears from Ozfest"s post that it wasn"t just a matter of madly raising Steve"s blind hand after hand, so the suggestions that he did may have been a bit harsh.  Still a good topic for debate though, as there certainly appear to be differing views on what is accepted etiquette in that situation.  However, as with most things, it just comes down to personal choice, and it"s certainly not a hanging offence.

Even though the heads up was not an ideal situation, lets not forget that both steve and stuart have both played  really well to come 1st and 2nd in this great opening event.I do feel for steve, has happened to us all from time to time and being heads up makes it even more frustrating.I dont really think we should condemn stuart, after all it was not his fault steve was disconnected and im sure he would rather have played it out.
I see steve has posted this morning and with a cool head has asked that we move on.So lets congratulate them both.

I am new to these APAT tournaments so I am not aware of any protocol that should be exhibited in these situations but I would certainly have taken advantage of the situation. If that"s not expected by the community then I will be more than happy to review my position on this if I"m ever in that situation.

Anyways, congrats to the winners and anyone else who made a tidy profit.

Is it possible Steve would have had to start pushing his stack in whether the guy had sat out or not?  I mean even if the guy had of sat out Steve said his battery was dead so would he not have had to start pushing anyway even if his chip lead was intact when he re-connected. If you"ve only got ten minutes of battery the play has gone out of the game anyway as you"re trying to get it won before your computron dies. The tournament is in the lap of the Gods anyway now isn"t it?

I don"t play on t"internets, but aren"t disconnections just a hazard of playing online?  The whole table don"t sit out when someone disconnects during the boring stages of the event do they?  How do you decide when it"s appropriate and when it"s not?  I know the guy who won was an APAT player, but it could have just been a random online player who had never heard of APAT until yesterday and for him it might have just been a tournament like any other where disconnections are just a part of the game and lucky me on this occasion.

I think it"s possible we get a bit carried away with the prestige and pride and honour of APAT events.  We"re worse than Klingons sometimes.  It"s still only a minority of amateur players who have even heard of APAT.  It"s a big deal amongst the majority of forum APATers, but things like this need to be looked at from the perspective of the majority of online players.

Having said all that, very unlucky Steve and I do mean that.  But is there any footage of Steve hanging off his fire exit swearing like an Aussie truck driver and waving his lap top in the air trying to get a signal?

If it was some random event, then I"d have probably given the guy 5-10 mins depending on the structure then raised for England.

As far as I can tell this is the only time anybody has mentioned the impact of the structure with regards to stealing blinds off a disconnect.

If you disconnect with a 2:1 chip lead, then reconnect and have a 1:2 chip deficit, it can signify a vastly different approach by your opponent depending on just how many blinds those ratio"s represent. If the average stack was only about 5 blinds when you disconnected they haven"t really done much to turn that around, for example.

The whole idea of giving someone a specific amount of time to reconnect isn"t right imo, if you give someone 10 minutes to reconnect when the blinds are half an hour - that"s a very different proposition to giving them 10 minutes when the blind levels are 10 minutes long.

Thinking about the question of whether the win is deserved by taking your opponents chips when they"re disconnected. You obviously haven"t outplayed them by taking their chips like this - but if you wait for them to reconnect and the blinds going up means the average stack is down to 10 blinds for example, has the winner really played better to win? It"s much more realistic to suggest that at that stage the winner is more down to who is lucky enough to get good cards and for them to hold up in a pre-flop all in confrontation.

Generally speaking I"d give half a blind level for someone to reconnect - but the lower the average stack, the less time I"d give them, because it would be irrational not to do so.

At the end of the day there can be many problems online. Before you play make sure your computer and connection,to the best of your ability, works!! .If things then go wrong its tough.Ive been in the same situ before on both ends and its not funny at the ****ty end for sure.In a live game if you make day two and your car breaks down or the motorway is blocked would you expect your chip lead to intact. Can you imagine everyone waiting for the chip leader?

different scenario.  you"re heads up in a live APAT championship and your opponent suddenly takes ill and has to dash off to the loo.  do you suggest pausing the clock to wait for him to get back, or (if that"s not allowed) take your time about making a decision when you"re first to act, or do you get the dealer to hurry up and raise his bb every hand?

How about he has a heart attack and is rushed to hospital? Do you wait then and if so, how long...an hour...a day...a month..oh, and the clock is still running too?

Personally?  I ask for the clock to be stopped and the game to be reconvened whenever.  if they won"t do that, i"d suggest splitting the money by chip count and having a play off for the title at another time.  If that"s not agreed to, I"d probably make a nuisance of myself and refuse to sit down, even it means throwing away my chances of winning if i"m shorter on chips.

...

This is also a rational approach and for a live game with a situation like this probably the most appropriate, but I don"t think you can make the live and online games analogous.

On a personal note, I really enjoyed this game last night, the turn was my friend on a couple of occassions which doesn"t happen often but we really all need a friend when we"re just about to go out 37th  ::).

The turnout was great,- lets hope this continues-, and the finish time was not quite as late as could have been considering 204 runners (not that I waited around this late)

Interesting point raised by Claire re lower end payouts, why pay down this far if the payout is less than the cost  :-\
(personally I would have paid down to 28th  ;D

Well done everyone on the turnout and congrtatulations to the Final Tableists and medallists

Onwards and upwards

cheers

Congratulations to all medal winners last night.

If I was ever heads-up in an APAT event and my opponent disconnected I would always choose to sit out.

Except of course if it was Scouse - then I"d click that raise button as fast as I could.  ;)

p.s. this did actually happened to me in Season 2or3 when we were 3 handed MickyP disconnected. After I spilt my beer laughing I slow played every hand as the other guy was still playing.

Just a thought, feel free to disagree, but instead of there being a grey area where people are unsure what is morally correct or not why doesn"t everyone raise/steal. Then it is clear, it is done to me what I shall do to you, ya get the swings and roundabouts approach and it all settles itself out.

Unlucky scouse not sure wot to say accept your typin is worse than mine! WP to the winner anyhow. The standard payout(matrix) was a bit mad, but i think its sorted for the live events. Top heavy, great if your there and you never know i might get there!! but not at cov carn"t go. £400 for 20th days are gone.

I think Ozfest is getting stick unfairly on this thread.  It"s not his fault the other person disconnected, so why should he sit out.  I"ve lost my connection in the past and I would expect my blinds to be raped constantly and they have.  Maybe players need to ensure that they have reliable secure connections in future.

Well done to all the winners last night!

This is a bit like blaming the Ref fir a bad call during a match IMO. Yes it was a bad call and yes it was wrong but the Ref is part of the game, good or bad. Everyone is saying it"s not the APAT way? IMO neither is whining about a loss. What this guy did was totally within the rules, if it wasn"t then Apat would have stepped in. I know Steve and would have loved him to win this. Let"s move on shall we, and let"s not be hypocrites. We"ve all taken advantage of this situation before. Unlucky Steve, but very well played.

This.

Connection issues are just a part and a risk of online poker, and we"ve all taken advantage at some point.   There are a heck of a lot of other much worse thjings that happen in APAT tournies that are not in line with the "APAT ethos".

I like to think that in this situation, against Scouse, I would have sat out for a few mins...... BUT, how long is appropriate? 10 mins, 1 hour, 3 hours????  If he doesn"t return, at some point I"m gonna start playing again..... and given that it"s 2am and I"ve been playing for 6 hours and want to go to bed, it"s likely to be nearer 10 mins than 3 hours!

Also, would there be such uproar on this thread if this had happened to a random 888 player rather than a known APAT player as popular as Scouse?  Would the "APAT ethos" be disputed then? I doubt it.

Read all the posts and hope this doesnt get out of hand . I have said cest la vie etc and lets move on. Just a couple of points would like to make first , bit annoyed with people saying about should make sure internet connection works before you start. Firstly i have as good as i can with a dongle because i am on detachment and away from home. This worked fine until about half 12 i think where it went off for some unknown reason, and cos still full table my blinds got raped which i fully expect when a few players left because you have time to sort it and may only lose a few blinds as rest of table playing. I sorted this by sitting on a fire escape near our regimental bar which has free wireless, but was locked up so had to sit in the cold on a fire escape with no plug to charge lappy . Which i am sure a lot will find that funny! Then when we got to heads up with 20 mins left on my battery power i asked for a deal to be made which i hardly ever do , and stuart declined which is completly his decision. When lap top died i ran back over to my room hoping my dongle would work again. It did and my first hand i had qj and seen a raise which assuming just nicking my blind being sat out so shoved in expecting a fold , he called with a rag 5 i believe . I hit jack but he hit ace so that was game over. I had a chip lead when lost power i think 2-1 to come back to a 1-2 disadvantage. I think he should have give me time to get back and there was a break in 7 mins so thought to wait to then would have been fair. But entirely players decision and he decided to nick blinds. I would have waited til break if it was me and to be honnest in an apat event prob would have asked leigh to replay it if no return. Obviously if not an APAT event would have nicked blinds and wouldnt have cared. And would only do it heads up if  short handed would have took time over every decision , if full ring would play normally as with play would have given player plenty of time to sort out any problems and wouldnt lose many blinds. But heads up is different your blinds go so quick online cos no play and quick dealing.
Anyway i hope this puts an end to any moaning and i dont blame stuart for doing what he did , i am sligghtly disappointed but at the end of the day it is entirely his decision, he would have got a lot of respect from myself for giving me a chance but cest la vie.
I would like to wish him all the best and good luck in the future. Now lets draw a line under it and look forward to what should be a great season 5 for APAT and all us apaters !

ps the grief i was giving to one of the players was purely and simply cos he was abusing everyone he sat with and i was defending myself and all others he was giving grief to. I can certainly give as good as i get and he deserved every insult he received. The said person showed his distane by encouraging stuart to smash my blinds at the end . Hopefully he is not as abusive next time and if so will not receive any retalliation abuse from myself.

pps thanks to all for well done wishes , phone calls , texts etc

bring on coventry woop woop !!!

If this is the case I think we can excuse new members for following "normal" online poker protocol in this situation. Although very unpleasant and unfortunate for the disconnected player.

Good. Please review the chat from this tournament cos there was far too much nastiness going on, in the early stages anyway - not so sure whether this continued later into the tournament for some reason.

Only one particular offender has been specifically identified and that is being looked at.

Any chat issue, as I believe I may have mentioned before, should be pointed at 888 first with specific examples.

Forum chat is an easy one as there is always the "Report to Moderator" option.

I think this is actually what most people would do.

If I am playing heads up against somebody who I know, then I would give them time to reconnect and ring them if I have that option to find out what is going on. After I think I have given them enough time I am going to raise and take (maybe I give them a percentage of the extra $600 when I see them next - but certainly not half of it).

However if I am playing against a random, I am just going to take their blinds, does this taint the title and the gold medal meaning they are worth less? Yes very much so, does it change the money and the added value (seat)? No, I will still play the UKIPT and I will still bank the extra $600. If it is an APAT reg and I don"t recognise the name or just don"t them then I do the same.

This is not exclusive to an APAT if I am playing a tournament on Sky for example and I end up heads up with somebody I know then I act the same way and give them a chance to reconnect. APAT Ethos does not come into this decision, I disagree with people saying "this is not very APAT", it"s poker, and I doubt it matters to many of us if the tournament is an APAT event or a random event as to what we do in this situation. What actually matters is who the other player is.

I would not have any problem with anybody clicking the raise button as fast as they could if I was disconnected no matter if I know them or not or who they are.

There was more than one - and that was just on my table. If someone central wants to look at it, they can, or not. The problem with the solution you suggest is that I can"t be stuffed, especially as it wasn"t aimed at me.

Hmm, personally that makes all the difference. In a normal online tourney against randoms i"m clicking away and taking every chip i can get as it"s all about the money. In an APAT i wouldn"t want to know i"d won the title through anything other than playing better than them (or getting lucky!). Who the other player is wouldn"t matter but then from reading about this obviously everyone has slightly different opinions.

This 100%

If I believe the other person would wait if the situation was the other way around (if it was someone from APAT/someone I knew and I think they would do the same) then I"d wait, if it"s a complete random I"d obv just blind them away.

Quite sad to see this happen when both people were APAT members but there you go.

I freely admit, I"ve never used the report option (even if I could find it on 888) and probably wouldn"t even if it was aimed at me...I"ve got a thick skin (obviously) but others don"t.

I don"t think that quote fits at all actually. A few players have made APAT aware of it so APAT can "take action" if it deems it appropriate. It"s just an irritant, but the truth is "it don"t mean much", as you say.

Biggest +1 in history. It seems like a no-brainer to me - if it"s a friend I"ll either give them the time they reckon they"ll need to r/c or chuck them a %age of myself in the UKIPT event or something. Anyone else can go hang.

As many people have mentioned the nature of online poker leads to this inherent risk. It"s the ONLINE championship, warts and all. An APAT event may have a strong community ethos but at the end of the day it"s still a poker tournament, and I still want to win it.

Some people in this thread are being a bit holier-than-thou for my liking.
