Title: Dusk Till Dawn
Post by: UKChamp on December 13, 2007, 16:50:59 PM
I shall be going sometime in Jan "08 to play a £100 freezeout.  Would be good if a group of us could organise going down for the same day.  Any interest add your name!

 :"(

Maybe next time, but I have a distinct lack of holiday days left until my new holiday year starts in April, and if I"m going to Nottingham to play I"d probably look to make it a long weekend.

It"s definitely worth going if anybody is thinking about it, and is in a position to go, Dusk till Dawn is a great place to play and you won"t regret it.

I"m going to be spending A LOT of time there.  It"d be criminal not to as it"s only 40 minutes from me.

Everyone who"s been has said how amazing the place is.  I think they had some teething problems with the valets - but they can"t be any worse than those from last weekend.

I"ll probably be up for the tournament.  Put my name on the list.

Ah Mr Tubs AKA Russell Johnston, would be a pleasure to catch up again!
Not sure what days are what games at present, but I know there are plenty of cash and sngs to go at if there isnt a suitably priced MTT.

Will have a look at in more detail given that a few people seem keen.

More to follow I guess!

Quote
Last night at dusk till dawn we had our 2nd £50 tournament, the cap was 108 which was met with 30 minutes to go and we ended up with 26 alternates. Amazingly 24 made it in during the first hour making a total prizepool of £6600 and over £2250 to the winner !

In our first £50 last week we had 119 players and 6 cash games, well the word must be spreading.

The cash games tonight started at 8.15pm and by 11pm we had 9 from £0.50 £1 to £2 £5 No Limit and a £5 £5 dealers choice , we peaked at 1am with another £5 £5 dealers to give us 10 cash games and 2 STT running, most continued till 3am then we had 5 running till 5am and 3 for most of the last hour.

Thanks to all of you for playing at dusk till dawn.

this certainly looks like the place to be, and I can see a few more similar models popping up around the country.

I see they are being cautious with the field sizes for the tourneys, but it wont be too long before the venue is at capacity.

If i cant get into cardiff, then i"ll be up for going down sometime in january, otherwise I"ll wait for the APAT live lull in Feb/March.

What are the chances that the venue (TBA) for the european championship will be held here???

The original plan was certainly to hold a big APAT event there.  If they can get enough dealers it can hold well over 400 runners at once!

Id be interested in going, Hope they do hold the european there altho with it being a 400 seater field, would there then be more prestige for winning that event than the world amateur championship?

How about season 3 world amateur championship at DTD ?

Now that"s worth suggesting.......  8)

How about all the APAT events at DTD?  You reckon Grosvenor would go for that?

;D

I suspect that might be a no no, Dan.

Don"t see why we can"t have a "biggie" there in season 3 though.

Looking forward to going to DTD for leg 4 of the regionals.

Is there no way that dtd and grosvenor could work together on the world champs in season three, wheres the closest grosvenor to nottingham? obviously the grosvenor link is crucial to apats expansion but hopefully dtd can also be incorporated somwhere as its the only place dedicated just to poker in the country :S

I"d be up for playing there. Played once already and its a nice venue, even if the rake on the cash games is harsh. ;)

What starting stack and blind structure do they operate for this one? Is there room for a decent game of poker, or does it become an all-in fest from level three?

Decent structure (as you"d expect from a place created for poker players).

4,000 chips to start with (if I remember correctly), and a decent clock, and of course the 150/300 level ;D.

TIP: Register online ASAP! (available from 2 weeks in advance)

These Thu night tournaments are very popular and will sell out. Last night they had 80 people on the Alternates List!! Capacity is upto 135 from next week, from 108.

Went to DTD with a mate on the first Thursday. It"s a fantastic place but I"ve got one minor reservation.

This is the annoying case that they allow alternates. I wouldn"t mind this in a tournament starting early but these one"s don"t. This means that if you want to win it you"re not going home until 5am and even that might need a chip count.

On the plus side I live about 5 minutes away so me and my mate (Stuart Hopkin, second in Manchester) will be there if something gets arranged for the apat members.

See you there

I"d love to go, it"s a bit of a trek for me though, as I live about as far south as it gets. Plus I"ll need to book the time of work, flight/train etc.

So if someone could give me a shout couple of weeks beforehand I"d appreciate it.

Cheers

All/most card rooms and casinos now allow alternates for the first two level for their tournaments.  This enables a greater number of people to play, and reduces the number of disappointed people who can"t get into the tournament.

Simon Trumper who manages the card room has structured the tournaments so that they will finish before 6am.  There"s no way round having a tournament that takes place over 1 night and has a decent structure and clock, other than start it earlier and/or finish it later.

I"m not actually sure how much longer the inclusion of alternates makes a tournament last.  The blinds continue to go up at the same speed, and I can"t see it moving the finish of the tournament significantly.  Might be wrong though.

The other thing is that if you"re there to the end, you"ve cashed and you won"t be bothered anyway!
