So they are playing for a £3,625 first prize, a UKIPT seat and the trophy and gold medal. Significant media exposure too, lets not forget

Who are our intrepid Day Two survivors?

In chip count order

Andrew Harrison   156100.

Newcastle player, who was in the top few stacks from mid evening

Ben Young   151800

Reigning APAT WCOAP champion. Surprised all observers yesterday by staying awake long enough to amass a stack

Paul Davis   118000

APAT Mod, travel guru and Wifi provider. Now a serial day Two APAT player. Best so far is a Bronze at Walsall in 2006.

Andies Sanchez   98800

Not Spanish. From Newcastle though

Gareth Walker   97700

UKIPT Nottingham winner from earlier this year. Newcastle resident. Going for a prestigious double

Craig Simpson   95700

Steve Redfern"s best friend. Likes Pocket Sevens

Steve Lacey   86400

SteveinHants who returned to APAT this year after a hiatus. APAT final tables in season One

Mark Langdale   84900

Newcastle Player. Doesn"t like Alan Pardew much

Robert Dunbar   84400

Newcastle Player. Rates Chris Hughton highly

David Pilkington   82200

A very irritating cashman. Would be a disatrous result for us, to be fair. Good luck David

Andrew Blair 78300

Tony"s cousin, from Sedgefield. Hopes to wield his own weapon of chip stack destruction on others today

Paul Mallett   67900

First alternate into the field. Bankrolled by Dad, Timmy.

Richard "Curlarge" Baker    67000

Another APAT Day Two for Richard, one of only two Richard Bakers in the field. Looking to add to his collection of google self-images

Hugh Frew   59500

Newcastle veteran with a mint name

JP Round   49100

Jean Paul from Northampton, another APAT regular.

Shug Cairnie 42200

Scottish. Despite that has made Day Two. Would be a very popular winner, especially with Publicans from Newcastle back to his home

John Littlewood 31200

Hoping to scoop the Pools today

Ian Dawson   30600

Newcastle

Michael Carr 29200

Newcastle

Lee Hickson   25100

Newcastle

Rosi Barry   24400

Newcastle alternate. Brother called Jim.

Robert Mercer 22600

Newcastle

Chris Peers   21300

First ever APAT Day Two. Wants it bad. Will need some luck from here.

Yesterday was an unusual day. Newcastle players played, er, creatively in the early stages and the pace of exits was fast

However 23 survived the carnage and here we are, ready to go at 2.30pm

Please join us then......

Wrong

He is called by KK

So far we are yet to see a flop at the final. Chris Peers has shoved uncalled, Ben Young shoved on Gaz Walker uncalled, some pre-flop raises and folds.

I blame the good structure  ;)

The Coventry final began early and went on six hours...so the long haul might await

Ben : Yeah, bit down, really wanted another medal

Me : There"s always the weekend, and that comes with a trophy ?

If you are paying, we"ll put on a live feed.   ;D

With poor internet access in the casino, and it being a bank holiday weekend, then the sponsor didn"t feel there was much value for them in covering the costs.

Simple really.

Another great four days of poker.

A huge thankyou goes to Craig, Gary and all the team at Aspers, Newcastle.  This is fast becoming one of my most favourite venues in the UK.  A superb setup, which makes for an awesome weekend.

Well done to all that cashed.  The guys have done Wales proud again over the four days.  Winning the team event, then a bunch of them running deep in the main event, all finishing with Ben Young becoming the first APAT member to win two National Championship events.

Ben "Two Trophy" Young, we salute you.   ;D

Awesome stuff from Ben. The guys will to win was there for all to see with some seemingly marginal calls and very aggressive plays.

I remember his commentary during the CoC in Bolton and it was a superb poker lesson.

He certainly has the game to kick on here at the highest level.

Can"t really add anymore to what everybody has said about Ben, but the rest of us probably shouldn"t worry too much. I mean of the four he"s played there were two he didn"t win.

Thanks as always to Tighty and Leigh for yet another quality event in every respect and also to Quasar, Mair, Pables, Waz, Fandangoo, Don the Hammer and Delboy for their kind support.

Thanks also to Aspers for hosting the event, all the dealers, valets and locals made us all feel very welcome.

Finally congratualtions to Ben for making a little bit of APAT history in taking down his 2nd title. He is lovely lad, fantastic player and a worthy champion IMO. Let"s hope this propells him to greater (if there are any!!!) things to come :)

The short(ish) answer is..."No"...unless someone knows different.

The requirements are such that finding a venue is quite difficult. This has been covered a number of times before but I know that the APAT team are more than interested in being kept informed of potential venues by locals.

London can be done, The Vic for example, or even in a hotel I know the owner of. The International might be able to cope now (but the regularly run £100+ and might not be interested). The Fox I think isn"t big enough unfortunately.

We are in London in December for the Pro-Am Masters (Please form an orderly queue for any Ben Young comments  ;D )

Both The Vic and The Fox Club would be great venues.

I assumed that South-East meant "excluding London"

The Vic we"ve done and I think you are right on the International.

I think the Fox could cope (at a squeeze...I believe that they have 18 tables) especially as that is the planned Pro-Am venue, but I don"t have details of that yet.

As has been mentioned, hotels are not currently a viable option.

Just to tack on..

By "South-East, I would include...Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk...if anyone local has options, I"m sure the lads would love to explore them.

A couple of basic requirements:

FULL casino licence
15 - 20 poker tables with associated dealers/chips/TD etc.
Willingness to host (at the available budget)

London can be done, The Vic for example, or even in a hotel I know the owner of. The International might be able to cope now (but the regularly run £100+ and might not be interested). The Fox I think isn"t big enough unfortunately.

Not sure about this bit, The LPC was run out of the Kensington Close hotel and was 100% legit, they used "voluntary rake" but since APAT don"t charge juice we dont have to worry.

As for South east, yeh it sucks big time! G Casino Thanet and who wants to go there?

The question is "does the LPC have the requisite licence?"*...APAT doesn"t and isn"t likely too in the forseeable future.

If the LPC managed to squeeze one past the GC..fair play...but that"s not a risk that Mr Duffy is gonna take on in this universe.

EDIT: *It seems the LPC were granted a Licence in 2009.

Or was that a rhetorical question?

Well the GUKPT abandoned it IIRC, but personally I love the chavs and gratuitous violence this gorgeous stretch of the South brings and I would heartily recommend this venue, it has a chiquitos and Nandos and Ask next door and a Travelodge on site too!!!!!!!!  ;D

Hi All

Finally found time for a proper post as we come to the end of a busy week.

Firstly thanks to all those who railed and wished GL including Del, TC, Jo, Don, Carl, Paul, Ian & Rudders.

Great to finally have a deep run and FT one of these things, really really pleased with my play this weekend, looking at the likes of Ben and Gareth there are still a lot of improvements I can make but I feel I have moved forward in recent months and hopefully the fact that I did not get it in bad once all weekend (except the A8 hand with Chris when priced in) is testament to this.

You need your luck too and whilst I did not have an abundance of premium hands the fact that on the 1 occassion I was dealt AA it was in the BB with a raise and a shove b4 and the 1 occassion I got KK was the Gareth Walker exit hand reported on here, meant they played themselves - if only poker was always that easy.

Another great APAT weekend, thanks to all involved.

See you in Glasgow (and in the league of course)

ks 7h is the new nuts btw - sorry Joe ;)

Thanks Rich, but that link returns an error - "Oops... there"s nothing to see here. Either you do not have access to these photos, or they don"t exist at this web address. Please contact the owner directly to gain access."

I already checked the homepage for the gallery - it shows pics for the Home Internationals event, but not for the UK Championship....

Rich,

It doesn"t appear to be viewable to public, and neither days show on the main picasa page either.
