On a basic level, the regional events are satellites into the national events, which are what APAT has become best known for during season 1. There is a regional event prior to each national event and this is where you can win a seat in a live satellite. Failing that, online satellites exist and a click fest finishes of the fight for seats to a national event.
You also get ranking points for finishing in the top 9 places in the regional events, online events, and the national events. this all accumulates into a ranking points league table where the person with the most ranking points earns a seat to a major poker tournament. Hope this helps.
