Title: Sunday Million
Post by: Des_D on December 23, 2007, 21:42:02 PM
I"ve enjoyed a couple of days of little or no work and fancied a game myself this evening.  I entered and was lucky enough to get through an FPP satellite to the Sunday Million and found the following on my first hand....

I fancy the blinds of a certain third placed WSOP finisher also..... could be fun!

Just took the blinds from early position with Queens.

The player two to my left is Ray Rahme....who scored well in the main event in summer.

Why only a call rather than a raise pre flop?

Why only a call rather than a raise pre flop?

I was in early position and elected to see whether anyone would raise after me.  Jacks are not a hand I have any problem getting away from on an unfavourable flop.  The stacks give plenty of play here.

Does anyone play cards like  :as: jd from early position?  I"ve seen it and the equally "bright"  kd qs type hands but let them go.  If you got sucked into playing them, maybe you"ve been card dead for a few levels, do you call or raise, and if raise - by a standard amount or greater?

Depends on your stack size - if you have a deep enough stack it"s  a good opportunity to trap aggressive players if you hit a very strong hand.

I would be your bang on middle of the road APAT player.  Enjoyed playing the game and watching it on the box, but could never find the "right" game, despite a reasonable amount of live experience....hence, APAT.  Shame is I don"t get to play now and when I do, I tend to donk royally as I enjoy just being there, whereas once, I was actually interested in winning.

ps - You are about the only APAT-er I haven"t been cooerced into buying a drink for  ;D  lol.....

Stats update....

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 85 hands and saw flop:
...
- a total of 14 out of 85 (16%)
Pots won at showdown - 0 of 2 (0%)
Pots won without showdown - 13
...

I think these 3 stats are much more interesting than the flops from the BB seen.

Are you putting in many overbets when you see the flop?

No, standard three times.....but I"m benefitting from a tight image and the occasional underraise.  The pots I lost have hurt me however and I am a sitting duck now.....the challenge being to get my money in at the right time, the cards being secondary.

Sunday Million - Part Deux

I hadn"t played on Pokerstars for quite a while - and when I got back to it a few weeks ago I had $6 left in my account.

Through a series of improbable adventures I spun this up to nearly $500, although it"s gone down since then I decided I was still in a comfortable position to buy in to the Sunday Million (without the worry of work next day).

I thought I"d carry on Des's thread as it makes it easier to compare my stats to his.

eg.

Des

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 85 hands and saw flop:
- 8 out of 10 times while in big blind (80%)
- 1 out of 10 times while in small blind (10%)
- 5 out of 65 times in other positions (7%)
- a total of 14 out of 85 (16%)
Pots won at showdown - 0 of 2 (0%)
Pots won without showdown - 13

Me

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 85 hands and saw flop:
- 4 out of 9 times while in big blind (44%)
- 2 out of 9 times while in small blind (22%)
- 10 out of 67 times in other positions (14%)
- a total of 16 out of 85 (18%)
Pots won at showdown - 2 of 4 (50%)
Pots won without showdown - 10

Arrgh!!

Lost a standard race trying to knock a shortstack out to damage my chipstack - no complaint about that.

Not so happy about this one.

There"s not much more I can compare with Des's - I don"t know exactly what a sign of good or bad play (apart from obvious things) is. But there aren"t many opportunities to compare exactly like for like.

Now I"ll try and do something interesting to post about.
