Was lucky enough to be in Florida about 22 years ago, and blagged a pass into Cape canaveral to see the first shuttle launch after the Challenger disaster, it was an amazing sight, and an amazing experience standing on the top of a RV, chanting USA,USA with hundreds of patriotic yanks. :)

Blimey...was it really that long ago!? I had to check because I couldn"t believe it...but it was.

Did much the same back in "93....blastoff is an experience alright....or rather was.

chuckled at picture 8 - are those two guys wearing flame retardant suits in case someone switches the burners on whilst they"re stood beneath the exhaust? Do they think the suits could stop the inevitable BBQ?

No they are suits to prevent bits of them getting into the equipment not the other way round :)
