It"s likely to be NLHE and PLO STT"s, NLHE Heads Up, and NLHE MTT, but we are just finalising that with the venue.

We ran one round of PLO in the home internationals in Newcastle, and it proved very popular.  For that event, every player had to play one STT of PLO.  Nothing is finalised as yet.

fwiw - I like the idea of PLO in there.  Adds something else to the mix and make it a unique tournament.

Hi

How are the points calculated for each of these???
And is it me just being blond or does 35 HU matches mean each team plays 5 HU matches? And does back to back mean that one player can play all those matches for a team or is there a limit on how man HU one player per team can play?

Sorry captain"s job to ask all these questions...

Cant wait to see You all there!

I think there may be some adjustment from the UK team champs, or the MTT would carry too many points, making the STTs a bit pointless

Leigh will confirm the points allocations; proabably after he returns from Glasgow, but there will be some changes to the UK Championship structure, particularly in the MTT phase.

Unfortunately that gives us an awkward thirteen teams.

THE DUTCH TEAM

to

THE TEAM WITH PLAYERS FROM COUNTRIES THAT HAVEN"T GOT A TEAM IN ALREADY :o

No reason why they wouldn"t be competitive, did anyone see the old late night poker celebs series? Not keen on 1 single B Team though as that could lead to other problems e.g which country?

Any resolution to this yet or will it just run with 15 13 teams?

Very pleased that an MTT is being included this time.

Not pleased that the players who give up their chance to play in two side events don"t receive any points for the Player of the Series or Player of the Year.

Team Event - Points Allocations

Day One

2:30pm 3 x 8 handed, 4 x 7 handed NLHE STT   (1st=7pts, 2nd=6pts........7th=1pt, 8th=0pts)
5:30pm 3 x 8 handed, 4 x 7 handed PLO STT   (1st=7pts, 2nd=6pts........7th=1pt, 8th=0pts)
9:00pm 39 x HU Matches - 6 per team   (1st=4pts, 2nd=0pts)

Total points allocated for Day 1 = 548
Maximum Team points for Day 1 = 80

Day Two

2:30pm 3 x 8 handed, 4 x 7 handed NLHE STT   (1st=7pts, 2nd=6pts........7th=1pt, 8th=0pts)
6:00pm 52 Runner MTT    (1st=26pts, 2nd=25pts........25th=2pts, 26th=1pt)

Total points allocated for Day 2 = 547
Maximum Team points for Day 2 = 126

Notes

Due to the 13 teams, we will be running a number of 7 handed STT"s.  Points for those tables will be exactly the same as the 8 handed ones, without an 8th place getting 0pts.

The MTT will only alllocate points to the top 26 finishers (50% of the field).  We will run hand for hand at 27 (3 tables of 9 players)

Far be it from me to admit that John has a point but could this be addressed by allocating points for 1st to 18th for the overall points scorers in the team event over the 2 days or 1st to 9th for the combined HU & STTs then 1st to 9th again for the MTT.

The overall field size is similar to the 2 x side events over this 2 day period so seems quite fair.

I am not in the team event and in both of the sides so my proposal is actually a disadvantage to myself - altruism & fair play ftw*

*What is the actual prize for POTY. If it"s all expenses to next year"s WSOP Main Event, then everything I"ve said above is nonsense and should be ignored  ;)

No Player of the Series points will be awarded to the Team Event.

The Team Event is an invitational event where players get to represent their country and compete against teams travelling from all over the world.

Any player fortunate enough to be invited to play by a selected captain, unfortunately misses out on two of the other side events.

The prize for Player of the Series this year is a £150 seat into a DTD event.

I should have added "So there".   ;D

I don"t wish to come across so blunt on the discussion, but I very much fall into the camp of "It is an honour to be asked to play for your country, and if you would rather play the two side events to try an earn extra Player of the Series / Year ranking points, then you can always decline the invite, as I"m sure there would be a queue of other players wanting the opportunity to put on the shirt"

As for the Player of the Year prize, I will have to get clarification on that from Des, or you could ask him at DTD, as he"ll be there all week.

What are the prizes for the team event, if there are any? Also agree with the oversized Welsh one when it comes to player of the year, the honour of representing my country is far more important :)

i agree playing for your country does have a nice ring to it and thats why i gave up my seats to both side events on the relevant days, however winning the player of the series  knowing that 52 other players couldnt compete kinda dulls the tune.
thats poker folks ;). GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Just for consideration - would it not be fairer if both days were a bit more even in terms of the points a team can maximally score rather than total points? Awarding points to only top 18 in the MTT would mean max for a team on day 2 is 94. The current structure is set up towards making sure a lot of teams are in the running before the MTT kicks off, in fact probably all of them, which adds excitement i agree but also probably eliminates a lot of the "good work on day one" factor.
This is not criticism in any way - just hoping to open up a discussion.

And and also please, whats the call on the HU matches - how many players from each country MUST play a HU match? Will every player have to play one or will it be possible to choose the same player over and over in case of HU games that dont collide?
Thanks
Michael

Cant wait for the event guys, great work organising and reorganising!!!!!!

There will be no restrictions on who plays the heads up games.

They will be completed back to back with as many dealers as DTD can provide.

The only condition will be that a team cannot hold up a heads up match from starting, so they will have to select a player from one of there available players.

The Lake Garda strategic retreat has gone very well.  8) 8)

I have to say that the points structure still places a bit too much significance on the MTT. However, it should make for a great finish with all teams just about in contention going into that final leg.

I agree that this should not be a ranking event (even though I"m top - brag) but surely there should be POS points for the top 5 or 6 point scorers
