I just thought some of you might be interested to know that I"ve just taken down the PokerListings.com $50,000 SPECIAL on Titan Poker beating 1314 others for a first prize of a "$45,000 Multiple Live Poker Package" ;D ;D ;D
All that for just a 250 points Buy-In!
This quite significantly overtakes my previous largest wins of $451 for taking down the APAT Danish Open and $501 for winning a $2 ReBuy on BlueSq in November. And on my Dad"s 65th birthday too ... !!!
Screenshots can be found at www.net10.co.uk/titan

good work fella!
what exactly is a $45000 multiple live package?
I take it its entry into a load of live tourneys, but which ones?
Does that make you exempt from APAT tourneys now? ;)
-
lucky bugur ;)

Thanks very much. And I don"t know ...
Does that make you exempt from APAT tourneys now? ;)
Well I"ve certainly never earned £23,000 for 4 hours IT Consultancy work, so I guess I might be classed as Pro now ... ;)
-
Congratulations Neil, and I hope you enjoy further good fortune in whatever live events it is that you will be playing in. An excellent result and always good to see other APAT members taking down a big prize.
Do let us know the full details of the package when you find out.
-
Very, very, very well done!!! (http://blondepoker.com/forum/smileys/default/yipee.gif)
-
Very well done fella!!! :o
-

Good luck when you go the the live events anyway!
-

Well Done
...
Well I"ve certainly never earned £23,000 for 4 hours IT Consultancy work, so I guess I might be classed as Pro now ... ;)
But have you ever tried charging that much for your IT work?
You can tell them that"s your normal hourly rate? :)
-
Wow, absolutely amazing mate, many congratulations!!!
-
Thank You All.
I"m waiting to hear from PokerListings.com who I signed up to Titan Poker through and who sponsored the Event.
Anyone want to teach me how to play poker without a mouse ... ? ;D
-
Excellent work fella!! That"s some field to top as well.
NH WP GG
Now enjoy those live events, and keep us informed about how you get on.
-
It wont be long befor we have an APAT player take down a big Tournament
It might be you Neil?
Well done

-
Congrats, great win :)
-
Well Done and good luck in the live events.
-
Many congratulations Neil. Look forward to hearing about the live events and I"ll look for you pimping it big style round Ayr in your new Merc once you"ve won one ;D
-
Well done! Here is wishing all APAT members lots of tournament wins.
-
Very well done Neil really pleased for you. You"ll have a lot of stories to tell at the Maybury this year now :)
-
Great result Neil.
-
Which events are u getting?
You could get some serious mileage with that amount!
-
Fantastic result Neil,
Best of luck in whatever tourneys they are.

45k is cool. I hope they let you decide which live tournies. If it were me I"d pick one big event and a load of GUKPT"s.
-
well done mate, pleased to hear it.
ive had $40k off titan as well in the past month so i know how you feel, plus i had $2.2k off there last night as well as 1 of my biggest wins yet. So you can join me in the over the moon crew, who are paying for the drinks in cardiff.
Well, the cokes anyway lol!
-

....like the APAT Scottish Championship :D
Neil, congratulations on a fantastic result and I know you are going to have a great deal of fun ringing this win through the tills. I also know you will be a fantastic ambassador for our community and I wish you the best of luck with the Neil TourTM

Well done again Wayne, you have been on a purple patch for the last 6 weeks. Long may it continue.

purple patch! it might be a good investment asking me to pick 6 numbers between 1 and 49 how golden im running at the moment lol.
i would take it all back though for another 1 of those shiny APAT gold medals on saturday.
yeah right!!
-
Can you give me 6 numbers then please Wayne ... :-\ I would still like to retire and play poker full time. I though of you and the $1m Event as soon as I reached the cash on Titan. They"re too good to us eh ;D
Thanks again y"all for the congrats. I will of course represent APAT in any way possible and, if I get to pick an "on-the-telly" tourney, I"ll be hoping Des would see me OK for an APAT t-shirt and maybe a hat! I"ll not push for a drink - I think that would be taking things a bit too far ...
Getting totally ahead of myself, I have been looking today at the various buy-ins of some of the high profile tourneys and I agree that I SHOULD get some mileage out of $45k. It equates to around six of the cheaper WSOP Events the $10k Main Event and the $20k WSOPE Main Event! I could live with that ... In poker terms, that"s mileage!!!
I"d be every bit as delighted to play the GUKPT Events. A trip with MickyP to The Main Event in Vegas would be nice though.
BlueSquare and BetFair Freerolls tonight - I hope I"m as purple as Wayne!
-
i just hope we dont get put on the same table on saturday neil, the devastation will be disgusting, there will be no need for a day 2 lol.
Bit of advice, dont go crazy and play the WSOPE or the main event of the WSOP. $10,000 is a big dent into $45k. I dont think anybody could play properly for stakes like that mate
GuKPT definately though
Think on
-
I dunno, if it was me I think the WSOPE would be a definite shout because the field size is still quite small when compared to other major tournaments. The WSOP Main Event would also be good just to say you played in it one time. Then the other $15K could buy into 7 legs of the GUKPT... Good luck anyway, wherever you end up.
-
I agree with the $10K advice.
GUKPTs, GBPTs, and an EPT would be my plan. Probably.
If I was going over to Vegas, I"d try some of the smaller WSOP events, smaller fields and more of a chance of doing something in them. Then again, the ME would be nice...
-
Great news Neil. Nice work fella.
-
I noticed Neil, that you haven"t got many " well dones " for the fantastic event win.. so I"d thought I be the one of the first to say Well done!! :D
seriously...it"s great that everyone on here is genuinely chuffed at another one"s results...it is how it should be
-
Very nice result! Can"t believe there are people advising caution and not to play the $10k or $20k WSOP/WSOPE events. It"s a once in a lifetime opportunity to play some great events. If it was me I"d be over to Vegas for the WSOP for sure. Vegas or some miserable dump for GBPT or GUKPT? Not a hard choice lol.
That is of course if you get the choice of what to play, be interested to hear what they come back with.
Well done though, must be very exciting for you!
-
Thanks again for all the new Congrats posts.
I still haven"t heard anything from PokerListings.com. I emailed Titan who told me that it was PL who were dealing with it. No problem, I just wish I had had even a "Well Done we"ll be in touch soon" email or something by now.
I don"t suspect I"ll get much of a say in the tourneys I play. I"d love to play the WSOPE ME for the reasons Crizzy said - smaller field etc. It would be a fair chunk of the pool though.
Who am I kidding - any of the aforementioned would be great!
i just hope we dont get put on the same table on saturday neil, the devastation will be disgusting, there will be no need for a day 2 lol.
I"ll not be there on Saturday Wayne. Lucky for you ... !!! ;D You"ll just have to be the one-man wrecking ball! I"ll be on here requestin updates and makin sure you are!
-
I wouldn"t play in the WSOP Main Event, you"d be too likely to only ever play on a table full of nobodys and you would probably get knocked out by some fish outdrawing you.
I"d play a few of the lower buy in events so that you have a more of a chance of getting a result with a smaller field to contend with.
If I had to spend $10k on the entry fee I"d enter the $10k mixed game - the main event would be my last option.
I would go for the WSOPE because of the smaller field and super high megastar ratio you would be almost as unlikely to get a result as with the WSOP ME but at least there would be a high chance that you"d get a chance to play against a star.
-
if you DONT play the WSOP your a nutter, is that not what we are all aiming for.
-
if you DONT play the WSOP your a nutter, is that not what we are all aiming for.
WSOP main event is not value.....
-
if you DONT play the WSOP your a nutter, is that not what we are all aiming for.
I don"t see the attraction of the Main Event.
The two elements of poker that I think you should aim for are:
(a) play against some World Class players - primarily for the experience, but hopefully to learn a little something from them as well.
(b) titles, money, fame and glory.
The chances of either in the Main Event are miniscule, you"ve got much better odds of both at the other WSOP events, the WSOPe and the EPT.
-
I have just been on and started a Forum Account with PokerListings where I found this from way back when tourney was first announced on October 29th!!!
"Exclusive to PokerListings players Titan Poker is offering a huge $50,000 freeroll. First prize will take down a whopping $45,000 to be spent on 3 EPT events of their choice (Buy ins + travel expenses). There will also be $5,000 spread from position 2 on downwards!"
I"m still waiting to hear from Titan so in the meantime I"d like to pass it over to all of you again to post thoughts and recommendations on how to spend the prize. Schedule can be found at http://www.europeanpokertour.com/schedule.html Please also let me know you are planning to play in any.
Oh how I wish I"d kept the original email now and saved all that WSOP speculation :) It was interesting to hear how you all viewed the WSOP Main Events though ...
-
Do you have to take all the choices this season or can you save some for next?
If you could save some for next then I would personall go for (WITHOUT A DOUBT) the final in Monte Carlo as my FIRST tournament. lol. Then I would save the other two buy-ins for next season when I would choose two of the following: Barcelona, London, Dublin or the Caribbean Adventure - It"s a long wait but the free trip to the Caribbean would help ease any potential tournament knock out that somewhere like Dortmund or Warsaw wouldn"t.
I"d love to play in London and Dublin because I see them the two biggest EPT"s outside the final but if I had this then i"d probably end up chosing Monte Carlo, Barcelona & the Caribbean Adventure - three FREE trips to the sunshine. Can"t knock it.
-
Monte Carlo, Barcelona & the Caribbean Adventure - three FREE trips to the sunshine. Can"t knock it.
What he said.. top choices
-
Fantastic result....well done!!
Monte Carlo has a larger buy in than the other EPT"s ...so you might have to
check with your sponsors (its about a $18,000 package)....but I was lucky enough to qualify for Monte last year and it was a fantastic experience,....go and enjoy every minute.
-
well done and gl in the live
-
Well done fella!!!
I think my choices would be Monte Carlo, Carribean and Dublin.
-
Now THATS a result. Well done mate and after tussling with you on the final table on the "betfair win tuition from annette 15" freeroll tonight,i can see why you won.
This guy is ruthless >:( ;)
-
I dunno about that ...
I did just take down the Annette Freeroll too though (I"m assuming you did go to bed ... ?) I"m just about to start a new thread on it ...
-
Very very well done Neil sooo pleased for you :)
-
Thank you all again.
I"ve just received this from Titan;
Neil, we understand your sentiments and please know that it is not our
intention to cause you inconvenience. Your concern regarding the tournament PL
$50,000 SPECIAL has already been forwarded to the relevant department for
checking. Rest assured that you will be notified as soon as we received
further information regarding this matter.
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
So I"m still not much wiser ... :-\
-
Neil, just wanted to add my congratulations to this thread. After travelling over from Amsterdam for the past 2 regional events at the Gala Edinburgh and seeing how you co-ordinate the whole thing I"m delighted for you. A top result for a top bloke..well done chief. See you in Edinburgh for the next one, flights are booked and looking forward to it, many congrats again and long may your streak continue!

Jeez you would think the guy had taken down, Jesus F, Doyle, Dan H, Phil the Brat, Chan, Tilly, Mercier, Annie Duke and Lederer.
I dont know he reads one chapter of Harrington on hold-em and all of sudden he wants to go pro..........Am I the only one fed up listening to this guy.
Jeez.
-
You"re defo the one who"s most jealous!
My lovely wife agrees ... and signs you a V :P
If I knew it bothered you that much I"d have sent multiple copies of my Blog to your Inbox!!!
-
I have your e-mail deleted from my inbox. Tell Julia I forgive her and love here. Where did you get the password for the Annette_15 freeroll? Lol.
-
Well done mate. Simply, congrats!
-
Thanks for sticking up for me Wayne! That"s a pint I owe you ... !
celticriver"s comments were posted in jest. Despite Jim"s narcissism and his obdurate persiflage, he"s one of the good guys ;D
He"s finds me an easy target for tormenting (usually about my poker and my wife) as you"ll see from previous posts and when we"re playing in the same tourneys. He"s really my biggest fan although you"d have to threaten him with castration before he"ll admit it ... !!! ;D
-
i see, i see
well, although i suppose that means i owe your friend an apology, he really should make more of an effort to show that the comments he posts are meant jokingly and without malice.
After all, there are many other users on this forum who can take this the wrong way and make the same mistake as i did.
Naturally i will remove my past comment
-
He IS an ar$e! And you owe him NO apology! There was no need to remove your post but I see that you did already ...
Thanks again Wayne. Let"s both just make him sicker with more wins ;)
-
More wins you have had your time boyo. It will be a long time before you take down even a $1 sit n go you used up all your luck with Titan, Annette and Marrying your gorgeous wife. It is now the time for the poker players to come to the fore not some wanna be kid. Things look set for 3rd Feb still dont know who will be up first but I think Munter. Then a game after that to go over his hands and see were he went right/wrong. then a chance to take some money off you before sending your cry baby ass back to Julia. (That big boy took all money).........Talk to you later mate. Sorry Fishy could not resist quite apt it was a fish that bit though......... :-*

lol, lesson learned
from now on, i post with No Mercy

I"ve just taken a call from Brian at Titan Poker ...
Instead of the $45,000 in EPT Tournament Buy-Ins and expenses, they"ve offered me an alternative of $40,000 (approx. £20,350) in cold hard cash, paid into my Titan Poker Account and available for withdrawal immediately.
I had calculated that I was likely to be spending around $15k of my prize on travel, accommodation and food etc. (PCA in Bahamas accommodation alone was $8.5k) and was having to take 3 weeks off work and away from my famiy. Although I would still LOVE to play in EPT Events (and I will one day), at this moment in my life (having just got married, with a couple £k in credit card debt and a sizable mortgage), I"ve opted to play it safe and accept the cash!
I will still be holding some of this money in my various Poker Accounts and playing in tourneys that I wouldn"t otherwise have been able to afford - all forthcoming online and live APAT Events and satellites for the GUKPT, EPT and WSOP Events.
And I still have the trip to London for the personal training from Annette_15 in the WSOPE Training Camp to look forward to.
-
Fan bloody tastic i am sure you"ve made the same decision that most of us would. once againe well done
-
The only sensible way Neil.Get your bank balance built back up , keep the wife happy. Then with all the brownie points youve made get yourself to an APAT weekender,
-
The deal with the wife was EVERY APAT WEEKENDER!!! ;) Even if the next ones are in Prague and Bangkok ... !!!
-
Are people still interested in this thread. Old news by now surely ? 8)
-
Yeah defo the right decision to take the $40,000 - I would"ve rather not been given the option so I had to go to the events but if I was faced with the option I would gladly take the $40,000 in cash to wipe some debts and keep the missus happy. Although I guess you could now use some of the cash to go play in some of the smaller WSOP events this year!!!

Someone"s read my blog ... ? wow!
No mercy posting right enough Wayne. I preferred it when you were sticking up for me! :-\ ;D
-
Instacall with the cash. Although on second thoughts, I"d raise them to $45,000 - the tight sods.
Pay off the debts, treat yourself and the missus, reinvest some into the bankroll. Happy days.
-
What an outcome, brilliant result and congrats again!
