Good luck to my new mate Liv.  Hope she goes all the way and does one for the ladies.
Shame I got so low I had to go all in blind in SB as it would have been great to be there today, but was a great day.

At least the pic of me is one where I"m smiling in the face of the impending bust out!

Great to meet all the lads I had a laugh with during the day.  Hope to meet you all again at some point.

Good luck to Mike Bodders Bodman  short stacked and needs a double up early.  His best performance on APAT so far.

Great day yesterday busted out in 47th by Liv!!

Went on tilt after losing to an empty chair.

Tournement directors Note:  Please do not seat Bodders next to me in future tourneys second time in a row I have been knocked out whilst seated next to him!!

Post by: HaworthBantam on January 13, 2008, 13:12:06 PM
Is this the same Boddders who started a thread asking if he was "the worst player in APAT" ?  ;D

Clearly the answer is "no".

Well done Boddders, I hope you get well into the money, and take away a lot of confidence with this performance.  8)

Edit: You may be shortstacked, but remember, the shortest stack at the start of the 2nd day in Manchester went on to win the event.

we"re here, setting up

Watched Dewi Cool tuck into a breakfast that appeared to be served on a plate the size of a dustbin lid, whilst Brendan Hartnett had two meals!!

Got to bed at 5am having been forced to deal a Tighty SNG, a 20 pound freezeout for 12 players that produced a prize pool of nearly four figures

and saw the spectacle of 12 grown men playing Memory/Pairs for money with betting

Very strange.

Having been chucked out of the hotel at 12pm, now refreshed and raring to go

I will have to post a picture of this but Jack Prime is wearing a bright Orange fleece, pic to follow, the size of a King Size quilt it seems.

I have re-named him Scooby Doo, as the only other suggested alternative Marco Van Basten is frankly ludicrous

Matt Fowler knocked out Chu Lam with JJ versus 88 all in pre

James Edwards knocked out Gareth Ower, QQ versus 88 all in pre

Daniel Phillips went simultaneously, with what looked like a push with  qh  4h, but I"ll find out more when I can

then Mike Williams went 44 versus 77

so 24 left

blinds 3,000-6,000 for another 17 minutes

average 80,000

With the money virtually flat between 19th and 4th the layers are not hanging around. Play is fast, and aggressive as they manoeuvre to get stacks to put them in contention for the win, or a top three where the money lies

Matt Fowler out next 17th

"What went wrong?" I enquired

"Well I had good chips then made a few stupid calls to double people up, lost a few more hands and then found myself short-stacked"

His eventual conqueror was Martin Wilson whn he pushed with the monstrous  jc 5d

16 left blinds 5,000, 10,000 for another 19 minutes

average is 121,300

Jeldon Fernandes has knocked out Darren Starnes in 14th

13 left then as we run down to the final and I go and persuade Des to take a picture of Dena.

Speaking to Tim Magnus, I asked him what had propelled him chip wise in the run down to two tables

First he doubled through with Queens against tens, then steal-raised in late postion with  ad  7s, the big blind called with his pocket pair

the flop came  7d 7c 4s and from there it took off

Two tables out he found himself with a succession of hands in the blinds with which he was able to call short-stacked pushes, won every one  and enters the final table exceedingly well placed

Jeldon Fernandes (a Gutshot player) is his nearest challenger and as we saw made most of his progress with pairs of nines and tens, once out-drawing Jacks and then the pairs holding up in a number of races

Coincidentally, when I asked them both where they came from, they both said "Croydon/South Norwood" which is Crystal Palace country down in South London commuter land

Elsewhere Sam Morris has come all the way from Lincolnshire and is being railed by his Mum. I asked his Mum "so you"ve done well to come this far to support him" and she replied "well,I"m Welsh so it was nice to come home"

Simon Auckland hits his second successive APAT final table

Paul Sloggett is being railed by some of the Bristol massive

Dave Potter comes from Cornwall and Damon Hill, sorry Noel Edmonds, sorry Alan Rickman, sorry John Murray says

"I live in Portsmouth"

Despite that, I wish him well  ;)

Sam Morris was down to 42,000 (under 3x bb) and pushed, down to Liv in the BB

I can see from here she has  ah :2h: and a stack of 100,000 or so. Its 26,000 to her

she passed. I think I might call there.

You?

What I want to know is if tighty can see hole cards, has he set up his laptop under the final table or something ?

All in from Steve

instant call from Tim

Steve has  ad 8d

Hi All

Just sending Jeldon Fernandez good variance (not luck) for the last final stages of the MTT.  By the way he is a better poker player than racing car driver - was in the arcade at Cardiff with Jeldon & his friend (can"t remember name) before the start back this afternoon - Jeldon can"t drive!!!!

Cheers
Steven

8 hours of driving, 24 cans of red bull, 62 coffees and one of the best weekends ever. Thanks to all those in the running and organisation of the event, was awesome.

p.s. never call an all in from Jeldon if he has  9c 9h

p.p.s especially dont do it twice.  :o

good luck all who remain.

Well done to Tighty, Des and Tikay and Dena for another well run tournament.
As always, conducted in good spirit which really enhances the day.

Thanks to everyone for the support.

Tim Magnus to win it. Don"t think he"s lost a race today.

PS: Cheers for the bok Rich!

Tim Magnus is raising every hand, all unchallenged

If I ever got a stack like that I would too. Maybe.

but he gets a call on his latest raise from Jeldon

flop  5s 8h 9d

Tim bets 60,000

Jeldon all-in

Tim asks for a count

Tim dwells

Next ice age approaches

He tries to get some info from Jeldon

Its another 143,000 to Tim.....

It still is.....

.........

...........

Tim passes showing  7h 7s, third pair and gutshot straight draw

Jeldon says "good fold"

Sloggett has up to 400,000 or so

This hand was fun

Fernandes limped UTG

Magnus in the bb folds, face up  qs qh, after a good think

Fernandes shows  ah ac

why the fold?

"its the first time he"d limped in all the time I"d played with him"

As Magnus has been slightly whittled away, his raising frequency has diminished

I think this is a more even contest than it looked an hour ago

Simon is having to push constantly to stay in it

John is quiet

the other three are more aggressive and locking horns

Well done Tim - Welsh Champ!!!

I spent a while on 2 tables with Rich - saw the 10 7 hand - not real!!! Started on the table of death with him, - 4 APAT champs, one online champ and the online points leader. He made a wonderful dealer - especially that hand when he dealt himself AA against KK  ::)

Who needs TV when you got TightEnd.

A great weekend - where"s the next?

Keep up the great work!!!!!

Great updates Tighty, well done sir...

Thanks again to all involved with organising this great event, it was superb as always!

I badly wanted that trophy, I ended up supremely confident I could do it once we got down to 3, but alas the Executioner"s cards held (again!!!)...  :-X :(

Well done Tim, and well done to all the finalists, some good play throughout the weekend and great banter and fun was had. It was good to catch up with people again and to meet some new players... good times :)

Definitely mainland Europe, and it has a pool, apparently.

With a clickfest scheduled for 18 February, I would be expecting some concrete details within the next week or so........  8)

Firstly, congratulations to all those on the final table and especially Tim on the win. It was excellent to watch. One thing that I think has been missed throughout the thread that needs mentioning: This was Simon Auckland"s second final table in a row following 3rd place in Manchester, an excellent effort.

Our home game image keeps growing with Simon"s final table and James Edwards cash too. Only a matter of time before someone takes one of these events down.

Many thanks to the APAT crew and the people of Grosvenor Cardiff for the latest excellent event. The atmosphere was the best I have seen I think. I"m sure everyone will agree that as well as being extremely professional Dena really brightened up the APAT crew (No offence Des / TK / Tighty). More pics and info in the future pls... :-)

Looking forward to the next event already

I didn"t dare say anything before i got dumped out in case you invoked the power of rng.

Good performance anyway Jack.

Just read this.  Great updates Richard.

Big thanks to Des, TK, Tich & Dena for a top weekend.

Well done to the new champ, great effort Tim.  Lets not forget the defending champ, top effort to make it here from Norway Lee.

Final word for Simon "back to back" Auckland, 3rd in Manchester, 4th in Cardiff.  Quite simply a amazing performance mate, well played.

See you all in Europe...
