Question - appreciate the confirmation above re no buy in at casino, however does this apply to the side events also, or just to the main event?

Sorry if it"s a stupid question, but can I play in the English, Scottish,... championships... I"m from Belgium and a recent member here. Wanted to play in Nottingham last year but couldn"t make it.

And I"ll be playing the UKIPT a few days after so might head over to England a bit sooner then if I"m able to play.

Thanks Des - It"s showing as "upcoming" rather than registering. Do you know when it will be open?
It also says it"s a double stack - is that right?
Is it worth starting a thread with satelite details as I think a lot might miss it based on that description

Who"s planning on being in Coventry?

Booking today.

Definitely going. Musing over hotels at the mo.

Looks like a flip between Holiday Inn or Novotel. Found nice B & B in the city, but guessing it will be a bit isolated/taxispensive once I start pouring beer down my grid.

Where do the party crowd normally stay?

they normally stay in the hotel on site £50 a room per night and no messing about waiting for taxi

WH was my first online poker client so I have an account but it hasn"t been used for some time. It"s a shame that the APAT tag as you call it is only for new players as the only reason I"m using WH will be due to APAT yet WH won"t be able to work that out! It"s as important to bring existing players back as to attract new ones and I don"t think these poker sites realise that sometimes.

Reactivation of old accounts is one of the important benefits that APAT brings to any partner site.  It is recognised, although not to the same extent as a new account.

Just checking - tonight"s satellite is a £20 buy-in to try and win a seat in a £75 comp?

Doesn"t sound too inviting really.  The £10 and £5 rebuy make sense, but not really a £22+2.

Last season we did $20 freezeout, $10 freezeout and $5 rebuy into a $120 (£75) tourney.

It may have lost something in translation.  Obv tourney is now £82.50 though.

AMRN has made the same observation on another thread. Perhaps if the £20 is dropped to £15 (in future) the others are OK as they are?

At the moment though I"m worried we"re gonna have a different sponsor for every live event, requiring even more poker accounts because as far as I can see the only event WH is definitely sponsoring is the first one?

At the moment though I"m worried we"re gonna have a different sponsor for every live event, requiring even more poker accounts because as far as I can see the only event WH is definitely sponsoring is the first one?

That would appear to be a fair assumption to make.  I"ve reduced my play down to just a few sites, but needs must (Although the schedule has not been favourable to me getting to many, if any of the live events).  Sites like new players and appear happy to fund if they get sign ups.  I guess it"s just the way of the world.

Just checking - tonight"s satellite is a £20 buy-in to try and win a seat in a £75 comp?

Agreed...although it probably doesn"t take a huge leap to guess at a "sponsor" for a couple of events scheduled. although I could be wrong....it"s been known.

So APAT dies when we"ve exhausted all the different sponsors? Doesn"t sound like a brilliant long term plan, plus people (us) might get fed up of all the moving around. I hope I"m totally wrong with this fear.

A bit of an extreme comment, but I know where you are coming from.

I"m sure Des and Tighty know exactly what they are doing.  APAT is quite experienced when it comes to poker tours and deals.    ;)

That goes without saying. I completely agree. In fact I did originally write something similar but felt it watered down the comment. Taking things to the extremes is often where you find out the truth!!

Agreed, Des has already, as we"ve seen, looked outside the box for revenue streams....it was only today I realised there were ads on the site when I accessed it via my mobile.

My browser blocks those automagically so I hadn"t event known they were there

Plus..don"t forget there was talk of an APAT poker client...I"m sure that would be the best option long term.

This is a fantastically interesting area and one I could converse about all evening...if I wasn"t on the metal highway back to Wales and more particularly on my phone.

It"s a difficult market for sponsorship spend ATM, as value can normally be had with less risk via pay per click etc.  That won"t always be the case. The market needs to see some consolidation to allow the big operators to become even bigger and the misc brands to die. A lot of that will happen when the US market opens up and operator marketing activity will widen again.

So in this type of market it"s better that we all recognise the challenges and opportunities and adjust our strategies accordingly. That includes you, the player.

In this market it makes a great deal of sense to create alliances with several operators and enable them all to sample the strengths of APAT.

Rather than think we will "exhaust" the operator pool, what we are doing is encouraging multiple operators to "own" specific APAT properties; a model that operates across the sporting world, look at Darts, Snooker and Football for example.  So we make it more cost efficient for each operator and it becomes likely we will see the William Hill English Amateur Championship in 2013 and 2014 also. That allows the operators to spread their investment beyond a 12 month period, which is a much more workable solution for all parties.

Then when the big shakeup has taken place in the market, we can revisit our strategy and adjust it accordingly.  It requires a bit of a mindset change, but for the players it will become a little like shopping at multiple online sites - which most of us already do. Some we will like more often than others and revisit more often, but this type of model will encourage you to try different products more regularly and will allow the operators to showcase their software and promotional improvements since your last visit, hoping that you"ll spend more of your time and money with them as a result.

Phew, I"m going for a lie down...hope that makes sense and as always, we appreciate and need the support of our members to be able to offer you the service that we currently do.

Can or can"t? i.e. are you unhappy that it"s possible or unhappy that it"s impossible? Not sure from what you"ve written.

But it does raise the age old question of us multi APATer households being allowed to register in the same MTT. Anyone tried it?

Pete has registered for the main event for Cov as the lobby is still open for registration. I have then tried and it tells me that some one has already registered from the ip address and it wont let me register. Solution please.

I would also think it will be immpossible to play in same MTT.

There is always ways around this... I used some free IP proxy software over in the States a few years back to enable Betfair usage. Im guessing that one of you could do something similar to spoof a different UK IP address whilst playing.

The initial feedback is that it isn"t possible to have two entries from the same IP address.  I agree that it is a very restrictive procedure and I"m on your side in this.  My contact has gone back to see if there are any other options, but it may well be worth investigating some of the other suggestions that the guys have made.

FFS  - all of a sudden I"m delighted by this new "different sponsor for every event" concept!

Dongle no - don"t need one so would be a surcharge to play
Spoofing the IP absolutely not.
We are on BT so might be able to pick up a BT FON signal, but last time I checked it was pretty weak.

But thanks for the heads up.

Re-boot your ADSL modem/router... when it re-connects it will have different public IP address.

But if it stops two people playing from the same IP address, then that"s a good thing IMHO.

What happens next time when we do have to register at the proper time, for the worlds side events for example. It means we either have to rely on some one else to do it for us or 1 of us is going to have to be at some one elses house.

Can I plead for these direct buy ins not to be on a Thursday night as we have had to rely on 1 person most times to do the entries for us in the past. With the ip address problem it means we will have to try and find 2.

What would happen if for tonights satelite I entered from here and Pete entered at home then we both tried to play it from the same ip address???

I"m sure this has been asked before (sorry if it has, just got in from work!) but we both would like to play APAT events again this year but have had problems both registering on poker sites before as we play from the same system. Has there been any thought into how we could both register to play please?

Ta very much

No Dongle either. Thought petes laptop was on a roaming ip address obviously not. All other sites have sorted this out before Betfair only for apat 888 no problem DTD no problem we both play the same golden chip satelites (I dont know why I bother lol). Can the entry be done from someone elses house on their ip address?

And I still have my duck  ;D

If you get totally stuck do a poker transfer and (someone / I"ll) buy in for you, won"t be a problem.

You not going Phil?

Something I have noticed is that the Holding Tank is due to CLOSE Thursday at 8pm.
The plan was for it to OPEN Thursday at 8pm.

This COULD mean that all players currently entered may not be entered into the tournament if a new Holding Tank is opened. With this in mind I will unregister and hope I don"t miss out!

This is worrying me a bit and for that reason... I"m out!

iirc it has one hour late entry, capacity permitting.

ie it will only start with the number of tables available/cleared from the main event at 8.30pm.

Whlist late entry is allowed, if there are no tables clear you may be waiting a while.

The holding tank is now closed Colin as the entry monies are being transferred to Coventry by William Hill.  There may be some seats available on the Saturday in Coventry, we will confirm that next week.

Guys please use the seat exchange board for Coventry seats required and for sale

It"s at http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?board=37.0

A reminder of the guidelines for use

This discussion board has been initiated to allow members who have won or purchased seats; and then find their plans have changed, to sell or trade with members who are seeking seats to those events.

The two key rules are as follows:-

1)  Transactions cannot occur at a value above the advertised buy in price for the event.  This includes speculative added value, eg "percentage of any winnings".

2)  APAT Customer Services must approve each transfer to ensure player lists are completely updated.  If Customer Services are not made aware of a transfer, the purchasing member will not be allowed to play the event.

APAT bear no responsibility for the processing of monetary transactions between members and once initial contact has been made through the board, would urge members to detail and conclude their transactions by private message (pm) on the board.

APAT reserves the right to remove this service if it is being abused or requires more resource than available
