Title: REQUEST - UKIPT/GUKPT [Aug - Sep 2012] [SOLD OUT]
Post by: SirPercival on June 17, 2012, 12:12:26 PM
SOLD OUT

My name is Stuart Oliver and if you don"t know me I"m in the photo above when APAT won the APAT forum event. I"m one of the 3 that was shoved to the back (left) alongside the other 2 point scorers, Wayne and Steve.

I am looking to sell 50% of my action at 1.18 for the following events as a package.

24th-27th August - GUKPT Goliath £120

6th-10th September - UKIPT3 Newcastle £770 (capped at 500 runners, £250,000 guarantee)

I am a recreational player and due to work and family I dont play near as often as I would like. This is why APAT suits me well, as they can be combined with weekends away, sometimes with the family in tow too. I have played at least 1 APAT event in every season, sometimes more. I rarely play online and am not posting online rankings because the sample size is tiny and I dont have any results to speak of anyway.

My Hendon mob data is here:

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=115535 (http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=115535)

As well as the above I min cashed at last years Goliath (not sure why there isn"t a flag for this but my guess is it"s because they added in prizes for those that made 2 then didn"t make the official money. This included me after I had AA cracked  :"( )

I also made the final table of a Venetian Bounty tournament during the APAT trip to Vegas last year (this was during a Venetian Deepstack event but again I didn"t get a hendon mob flag for it  >:( )

During the same trip I was 4th in a Wynn tournament (other APATers played this and can confirm this if required)

This year I have played only 2 live events at my local casino due to being in the Middle East for work. Now that I"m back I am spending more time with my family hence why I would rather play a few quality events like these and APAT rather than loads of poker online or local events.

Total buy-in for the 2 events is £890. I am selling 50% @ 1.18 therefore

1% = £10.50
5% = £52.50
10% = £105.00

Any added value package that I happen to bink (e.g. champion of champions seat) is included. i.e if you buy 10% of the package you also have 10% of the added value.

I am NOT offering % in 1 of the tournaments. This is a package of 2 which I believe is better value for the backer.

Investors are buying a straight percentage of GROSS WINNINGS from these 2 tournaments. There is no Stake Back or Make-Up involved. E.G. If I cash for a total of £1000 each investor will be paid their percentage of that sum, i.e. 5% = £50.

Payment is by Bank Transfer only - I will sent details by PM if I sell out. If I don"t sell out I will reconsider taking a bigger % myself and liaise with backers.

I will update my progress on Twitter live and will write a brief report after each event on here.

Thanks for reading. If you want to invest (take a punt) then please post here or PM with any questions.

Stuart

OP edited following feedback.

I"ve removed the Genting event and reduced the mark-up making it over 30% cheaper to buy a piece.

Anyone who backs me in these 2 events will have first dabs on a stake of the Genting event in November should I decide to play it.

i.e. Made it a bit cheaper for you Dawn :)

Also what were buy-ins for Vegas events pls bud?

I assumed it to mean you cant just back for 1 of the games, has to be both.

Yeah Suz right, its a package of two tourns. Better value to the backer as there is less variance playing two, though some would prefer the big bink of a one off.

No and no to the second bit, would be stipulated in op. You don"t offer makeup in these type of stakes fwiw.

Suz and Mal are correct regarding the 2 tournament package. Variance is slightly reduced and I am not offering the opportunity to back me in one and not the other.

I don"t consider makeup to be appropriate for this type of request.

I think I will PM Mal for help on the wording of Stakeback, I had an idea but couldn"t put it into words. Would it make a difference to your decision as to back me or not?

Buy-in for the Vegas events - tbh I can"t remember (must have been something to do with the company I was keeping in Vegas  ;) ). They were around the $100-$200 mark IIRC.

Cheers for info and yes would make a difference if offering stakeback or not!!

Not quite sure why dont think makeup is appropriate.....its quite a high risk investment so would definitely sway investors if u were to offer it....I know I certainly would.

TBH dont think will be taking piece though as seems a massive jump up from your ABI.

Not trying to flame just giving my honest opinion and help people with the requests.

Sure you will sell it out so glgl.

I didnt say this in my OP as I am guessing people who invest in me will know me and my game, however....

I have played 2 WSOP events @ $1500, both of which were paid from local casino winnings (cash and tourneys). A report of one can be found in WPT magazine as I was sat next to Jon Young. In the other I was 400th from 3000+ runners, just missing the cash. I have also played the DTD £330 a few times, once when staked and others when satellitted in. So I don"t see these as a jump up from ABI.

Make-up is not going to happen, its not for me and I wouldn"t want staking under those circumstances. I have already commented on stakeback.

I don"t see your comments as flaming so no worries.

Myles I think you are getting confused and overcomplicating the whole thing. Best if you have general queries to put in general staking discussion.

However as general points:
You wouldn"t expect make up on a short term stake with multiple backers imo
When expressed as a premium I don"t believe stake-back is appropriate

30% sold 20% still available. [edited following 5% to Brendan]

5% = £52.50
2.5%= £26.25

I need to sell at least another 5% to make this possible.

I know there is plenty time before these events but please book your % now so as not to miss out.
Payment will be required before the events, not now.

Thanks

Hopefully all backers have either kept upto date on Twitter or spoke at DTD and will be aware that we didn"t cash at the Goliath.  :(

The re-entry certainly changed the dynamics of the game with 30BB stacks being played as shortstacks!

I feel I adjusted well, but raising 5x with AA in early position didn"t scare off 4 callers, 1 of which had the monster that is K2o which works well on a board of K 7 2  >:(

I grinded back up but never really got going. Eventually busted out on Level 11 when pushing a 10BB stack.

A good experience of super deep stack poker and together with the APAT ECOAP games I feel confident going into the big one next weekend. I have registered for Day 1B (Friday) and once again will be updating on twitter during breaks.

Good luck us.  ;D
