Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Imma crush him on this bet.

Jack"s got a spread sheet started, but I"m counting on you lot to make sure he doesn"t cheat the figures.

Also, there will be a video of the day out to the tattoo place when the time comes.  You"ll all get to see Jack screaming like a little girl.   ;D

Come ooooooooon MUNSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to both of you with this challenge. I"ll be doing something similar ( getting fitter anyway) as soon as my knee is ok for exercise.

I"m going for a tied score!

It"ll be interesting, that"s for sure.

I"ve never weighed this much in my life...EVER.  Not even when I was pregnant.  I"ve also never really done a diet seriously before.  I"d bounce around within a 15 pound zone of "reasonable", eating and drinking what I liked and that was grand.  Well, it"s gone beyond "grand" by a long way now and time to cop on.

Meanwhile, Jack managed to lose 7 stone in as many months last time and knows what he needs to do to get where he wants to be.

We"re both determined sorts when we put our mind to something and fierce competitive too.  Whatever happens, it"ll be a painful loss for one and a mahooooosive victory for the other.

I"m not cooking same meals for this.  I"ve said he"s in charge of him and I"m in charge of me.  That way neither of us can blame the other for what"s consumed during the challenge.  No special chemicals/diet aids allowed either.  It"ll all boil down to the food and exercise each of us gets through during the 12 weeks.  Let the games begin!!!

As or the forfeit. Should clearly happen at an APAT weekend. I feel the loser would want the moral support of all previously mentioned poker playing mates.

What could go wrong ???

An audience for Jack"s tattoo?  Not a horrible idea.   ;D  Just depends on where and when the next events are on and if we"d be able to make it.  Don"t want to leave it drag on much after October 8th ya know.

Our normal evening routine was shot to hell last night.  Normally I"d make us each a grand plate of food with all the sauces and gravies going.  Not this time.  Instead, I made chicken noodle soup for my dinner and offered to make Jack whatever he liked.  He asked for soup too.  Sigh.  Normally I"d eat a mountain of ritz crackers with mine, but only had a fraction of the usual.  He had none.  Double sigh.

By 8pm the pair of us were starving!  The bellies took it in turns to let out hunger pain noises the neighbours could probably hear.  Usually this would be snack time.  Either something baked, icecream or popcorn.  We just kept waiting for the other to crack and in the end I decided on a bowl of cereal because I hadn"t had breakfast.  He held tough and had nothing more for the night.  Feck sake!

I"d signed up to a site a few years ago that keeps track of calories but never bothered to use it.  Not this time.  Every whole thing will be entered each day and calories counted.  After the bowl of cereal, I went about filling in the day"s lot.  1,163 was my total.  YAY!  I"m trying to keep within 1,200 per day and managed to pull it off when I thought I"d been bad.  From now on, the total will be kept in running.  No more waiting until the end of the day.  Much better for the mind if I know where I stand at all times.

I weighed myself again this morning.  Keeping it a secret though.  Not sure if Jack did, but I know he won"t tell me for fear it would step up my game.  lol  We"ll give you new weights once a week on the Monday.

We"re going grocery shopping in the next day or two and I"ve a whole list of things to buy.  All based on the next week"s diet wars.   :D

I"ve just discovered how very little cereal is involved in a 30g "portion".  I fed my kids more than this when they were babies ffs!  What conning sadist determined the amount in a "portion"?!  He and I are gonna have issues.  Cereal is now off the list.  Not enough to feel full and not worth the calories for being hungry after.

Yesterday"s calorie intake was 1,142 and Archie"s getting LOTS of walks.  lol
Title: Re: Loser's Ink - The Jaxie Towers' Weight Loss Challenge
Post by: Laxie on July 18, 2012, 19:18:50 PM
Barring a disaster, today"s calorie count is....1,195.  Keeping within the 1,200 all the time.  Except that Jack has just informed me his daily intake is around 1,000 a day.  Marv.

On the plus side, I walk the dog two to three times a day for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.  He"ll be lucky to get in one walk a day during the work week and try to cram the lot into the week-end.  I"ll be joining him obv.

Thanks to all you darlins for posting comments and pics of lovely food on my Facebook wall.  I WILL NOT BREAK!!!  lol

That"s the latest from my point of view.  Over to Jack.......

Obviously the first few days of a diet are going to be easy for both of us. I know I have the determination to carry on, I"m not sure about Dawn but I"m pretty sure she does too. I think my big advantage is being at work all day and keeping busy. Dawn might struggle being at home and surrounded by (albeit less calorific than normal) temptation.

I"m fully expecting her to have a massive weight loss this week but we"ll see where we"re at after 2 or 3 weeks. I ought to be eating more than 1,000 calories a day but it"ll help the weight loss for a week or two. After that I"m likely to go into starvation mode and my metabolism will slow right down. At that point I need to up the calories and the weight loss should re-start.

If it"s looking dodgy near the end, I"ve always got the fast up my sleeve. I"ve done 3 days without eating a scrap previously (just for fun) and reckon I could do a week without too much trouble.

Should be an interesting few weeks :)

Jack, what do you actually do in work? Is it fairly active or do you work mainly sat down?

Just thinking if Dawn is able to get in 3 walks per day with Archie (who must think all this is a great idea) that is likely to be a bigger advantage than being in work, although it will be easier to stick to a diet in work I would think.

I"m office-based and it"s pretty sedentary I"m afraid. I"ve always got the option to march round the 4 mile local loop, that"ll be good for 600-800 calories. My record for the 3.85 miles was 48 minutes when I lost weight before. I remember overtaking a couple of joggers on one occasion :)

After posting my total for Wednesday (1,195) and discovering Jack was holding back to 1k a day, I"ve improved my menu choices another bit and managed 832 calories yesterday and 626 today.  Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Today"s menu was...

Brekkie - 5 egg whites scrambled with mushrooms, tomato, scallion, celery, spinach & 40g of mixed seafood & 3 rye crisps.

Lunch - one whole grapefruit with a sprinkle of cinnamon

Dinner - Basa fish, green beans, celeriac mash w/garlic, 1/2 corn on the cob.

Snack - 1 cup of cherries.

And just like that, lots to eat for the day, I"m not starved and without all the calories of the past.  YAY!!!

Tomorrow my cousin arrives and will be here until Monday morning.  He"s not on a diet.  This should be fun.

Very much this ^^^  lol

As long as I feel good and lose weight, I"ll keep going the way I am.  There is the risk my body could go into starvation mode with so few calories and I"d stop losing weight then.  If that happens, I"ll have to boost the calories a bit more to reverse it.  Meanwhile, I"m also taking a multi vitamin each day just to be sure all the right stuff gets there.

Jack is threatening to remove a limb if required.  You"ll want to keep an eye on him closer to the finish line imo.   :D

My cousin, Jim, arrived yesterday and he heads back to Ohio tomorrow morning.  The risk of falling off the diet wagon was mahoooosive, but we"ve done pretty good I think.

Chicken on the BBQ was the fare last night before the pub.  When we got to the pub, no pints were had by Jack or myself.  Vodka and soda water for me, soda water and lime for him.  This morning we"d a full brekkie for Jim while Jack and I had a lighter feed.  After that it was off to Bradgate park for a few miles of walking in the hills.  We were gonna need it, because we"d dinner reservations at 3:00 and it was a 3 course meal ffs.

I know what I"ve lost up to now and am pretty happy with it.  Tomorrow morning I"ll find out if I"ve got myself in trouble with Jim around or managed to pull it off and keep that number.

Uh oh.  Jack"s just announced he"s fasting for a few days.

We"re meeting up with another of my relations on Thursday so I"ll have to get creative myself between now and then.  Hopefully cover any damage that might be done in that 24 hours.  Been here a year and it"s all been quiet.  We decide to do a weight loss challenge and the visitors pour out of the woodwork.  Pretty sure this will be the last of it for a while though.  This week will be tough!  lol

We"ve just started level2, Jack is playing a steady long term game (as well as sitting out a few hands!) and Dawn is trying to win it all.

Jack FTW!!!!

Great job both - Jack, please try less hard, I got money on this you know. :-)

I believe the first week always results in large weight loss at you lose fluid, or something like that. Reckon they will both keep it up and do well this week, can they do it for the entire 3 months will be the test.

Week 2 weigh in complete.  I was veeeeeery bad when we went away on Thursday and Friday.  Damn relations!  lol  Really glad I got to see her though and I"m willing to take the hit.

Jack fasted for the first 3 days of the week, but also went off the wagon a bit while we were away.

All in all, we did pretty damn good considering....

I weighed in at 14st 4lb

Jack weighed in at 16st 6lb

For a loss of 5lbs each (yay us!), which means I hold on to the narrow lead (ya me!).  Roll on week 3   :)

I"ve been using a site to properly keep track of everything in my day, from food to exercise.  It"s been immensely helpful along the way and even educational at times.  Things I thought were "good" foods aren"t so good after all, and others are better than I thought they"d be.  It really is an all around site, complete with recipes...and it"s FREE!

I"ve given the link to a couple of people privately, but here it is for anyone else who is quietly kicking around a bit of a change for themselves...

Not thrilled with the fact he"s catching up, but pretty damn pleased with breaking the barrier that was 14st.  Overall, I"ve lost just over a stone in that first month and have 3st more to lose.  Next target - get below 13st.

We"ve booked a trip to see my family in Ohio when this is finished.  My mom thinks were both a bit nuts over this weight loss thing.  Well, not the weight loss side of it, but the tattoo bet for sure.   :D

Cheers Lads!

London was a bit of a rule breaker for sure.  We went waaaaaaaaaaay overboard on the diet front and we"ll need to do some serious working out to reverse any damage the day may have cost us.  That said, in the past we would have finished every bite and then some, but we weren"t able to yesterday.

Oh yeah...whoever decided on the "portions" at Harrod"s ice cream parlour needs to have their head examined!!!  We"d no idea just how big they were going to be, but one would have been plenty for the pair of us to share.  Instead, we each got our own (gg £32  :o ) and neither of us could finish it.  Jack LOVES ice cream and I reckon he was lonesome leaving it behind.

While I have £30 on Dawn, Jack always stated his intention to starve himself if he had to.

It is not dangerous, so I think it is fair enough.

Dawn: Just match him, bite for bite (or lack of it). Throw that water down anytime you want to eat anything...you can do it!!!

Feck sake.  I was down to 13st 3lbs on Thursday.  Happy days.  Figured I"d keep going strong losing for the rest of the week.  Then my back went on me in the middle of the night, Friday night.  Couldn"t move without help Saturday morning and been taking naproxen ever since.

Also taking either co-codamol or tramadol for the pain, depending on how bad it is at the time.  Anyone who has ever taking a med with codeine in it, knows my trouble since last Friday.  Not been to the loo since Friday morning ffs!  Currently more backed up than the M6 during rush hour.

Drinking loads of black coffee in hopes it helps clear me out over the next day or two, but still on the meds for my back for another day or two as well.  I"m either screwed and heading for a tattoo, or going to have a massive explosion before the week is out.  Time will tell, but I"m NOT giving up!

Dawn - if Jack"s been fasting you can surely go for any other similar drastic measure? What about one of those weight loss wrap thingies? Makes your skin feel great and losses a little water (and weight) along the way. not a permanent solution but given it might save you from some hideous tattoo worth it perhaps????

I"ve not been fasting, I"ve been eating exactly the same as previous weeks.

Last night I came clean as to why (I think) I lost 6lbs last week. I was deliberately fidgeting at work - deliberately bouncing my legs all day long.

Oh and it"s not a hideous tatoo, it"s a Leicester Tigers tatoo :)

I propose a 10k run in February or March.   ;D

We can set up a "just giving" page to go with it for some charity or other.  Well?  Or are ya chicken?!

Hang tight on charity donations Lads because it"s official....

The challenge continues!!!

We"re currently looking through the list of 10k races and will either pick one now...or wait until January when Jack reckons more might be announced.  Personally, I"d rather just pick one now so I"ve got something to focus on.  I"ll break him down before the day is out on that side of things, don"t worry.  lol

We also need to pick a charity.  Once we"ve that done, a joint "Just Giving" page will be set up in hopes of raising more together, besides splitting it all up.

Winner is the one who finishes the race in shortest time.  If he wins, the tattoo still happens with video of said event.  If I win, tattoo parlours everywhere celebrate their luck at swerving a visit from Laxie.  :D

There"s been one change, however.  If I lose, I get to pick the style of tattoo.  Neither of us has ever had one before, so it was a pretty daft thing to agree in the first place, but at least now it doesn"t have to be a fkn Leicester Tigers tattoo.  lol

and if you are running a book on this event then I"ll have £10 on Dawn please.

I"ve not properly run in 22 years!  Back in the day, I was on the track/cross country, basketball and soccer teams for my High School.  Also played baseball for a NYC pub in my late teens/early 20"s.  Then the kids came along and I stopped the lot.  Sure, there was the odd Mother"s Race at community games and yeah...I crushed it every year.  But running a quick 100 metres isn"t the same as this and I"m definitely going to have to work hard to prepare for it.

I was thinking of running in January or February.  Jack was thinking more along the lines of April or May to get over Christmas indulgences.  May will be too hot imo.  We"ve compromised and agreed March or April.  Let the games begin!!!

I"ve always been "big-boned" so to speak but put it to good use playing rugby from the age of 11 upto 28 when I stopped playing shamefully early due to buying a house and not having the spare cash to throw 20 pints down my neck on a Saturday evening! I was a prop forward but there weren"t many of my size that were faster in a straight line.

The only other running I"ve done is Sport Aid back in "85(?) when I ran most of the 10k :)

When I lost 7 stone back in 2009 I did do a tiny bit of running on my way to the loss, possibly running as far as a mile and a half before deciding walking was better weight loss exercise :)

I"m reasonably fit now and can walk 15 to 20 miles at a decent pace with no problem. Running won"t come as easy to me but it WILL come.

Bit disappointed SirPerceval has jumped ship, he should know better. So long as I keep My Phil onside then I"m happy. There can be only one outcome.

No defeat. No surrender.

Not gonna happen.  I"ve intentionally said we"ll do a joint account to raise as much as possible for one good cause through all this madness.  The competition side of things comes from the race on the day.   :)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeah.  You and Joobs can do the mental ones together.  We"d like to come out of this in one piece.

The date is a bite late for my liking (18 May), but Jack loves his Phil so we"re going with Phil"s suggestion.  Damn!  I just spotted the conspiracy ffs!

http://www.rwtrailblazer.co.uk/notts.html

Oh well.  It"s not tooooooo far from home and looks to be a nice one for us beginner types.  Hoping the "forest factor" will combat May"s sunshiny heat and if it"s pissing down on the day, we"ll be sheltered a wee bit from that as well.

We"ve also decided on a charity.  As many of you know, I"ve had cancer and got through it...twice.  We both have family members who"ve gone through some form of it as well, so only makes sense to support Macmillan.  They"ve an excellent team of nurses who help cancer patients and their families, funded solely by donations.

We"ve to pay our entry by end of November for the cheap seats price (gives us extra beer money after obv) and I"ll ring Macmillan to express our interest in representing them.

From what I can gather, there"s a large beer tent and stuff for the kids (Stu) to do as well.  Don"t suppose any of you lot want to join us in making a day of it?  Don"t panic...ya don"t have to run.

God help us and let the training commence!

"Imagine a 10k run combining the fresh scent of spring pine with the sound of a thousand runners; where soft, springy forest trails lead you deep into woodland, along field edges and past open water, eventually coming home to a superb event village"

Yeah right.. Now for the real version

"Imagine a torturous big feck off stagger, damning the smell that clogs your nostrils along with the chirping of the serious fell runners, where soft Shiite sucks the life out of your legs as you get lost in the woods, trip over the edges and fall into the water, eventually coming home with blisters, chaffs, red spots and no lungs"

For that reason and for a 1,000 others I can come up with, I will be in the event village..

ps - Good Charity though
pps - Your are fecking crackers
ppps - Good luck
pppps - nutters

This site http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/racepaces/agtimes (http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/racepaces/agtimes) gives predicted times for age and gender.

100% times are 30:27 for a 49 y-o male and 31:46 for a 42 y-o female. So our respective %ages are 30:27 / my race time x 100 and 31:46 / your race time x 100. Highest %age wins the challenge.

Jack.. I"m not sure, but there might be a problem with that website, I entered 100% for 41 year old male and its saying that I should of done the Great North Run in 1:02:11.. and doing 4ish minute miles all the way round.. the guy who won it did it in 59 minutes..

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/athletics/19615683 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/athletics/19615683)

Either that.. or its 1 day 2 hours 11 minutes.. then I don"t feel so bad :)

ffs - where"s boshi when you need him.

I"m not saying we need to run it in those times. I"m saying those are 100% times. Our times compared to those will give us each a percentage which will be comparable. We can take twice or even three times as long. It doesn"t matter. I"m just trying to level the playing field.

FWIW I believe the 100% time is close to world record pace (allowing for age) - not planning on getting too close tbh

Quote
What is age grading?
Age grading is a way to adjust an athlete's performance according to age and gender. The age-grading tables were developed by the World Association of Veteran Athletes, the world governing body for track and field, long distance running and race walking for veteran athletes. The tables were first published in 1989.

The tables work by recording the world record performance for each age at each distance, for men and women. Where necessary, the world record performances are estimated.

For example, the world record for a 53 year old woman running a 10km is 35:01. So if a 53 year old woman finishes a 10km in 45:18, she has an age-graded performance of 77.3% (which is 35:01 divided by 45:18). The wide availability of age-grading tables has allowed older runners to compete on even terms with younger generations. In many running clubs today, the age-graded champion earns as much, if not more, recognition as the outright (non-age adjusted) winner of the event.

What is age-grading used for?
Age grading can be used to compare performances across different ages and sexes; track your own performance over time; identify your best events; set goals for current and future years; and identify your best ever performance.

You can also use age-grading to predict your race performance. Essentially, this equivalent to assuming that as the distance increases, your average speed will go down, in proportion to the speed of world records at those distances. This seems a surprisingly
accurate assumption for many runners, provided they train for the distances concerned.

We"ve had two days of pure recklessness on the diet front and I managed to gain 1.5 pounds back while Jack gained 3.  To be honest, I didn"t feel great after last night"s feast.  It"s too much for me now that I"ve got the body used to "trimming ways".  I"ll have the odd thing as and when I want, but won"t be making it a mission (or a requirement) to have rubbish every day.  Don"t need three course meals.  Can"t manage them anyway without feeling sick after.  Don"t really even need two, so I"m going to listen to my body and hopefully the weight will keep falling off.

With all that said...we"re off to America!!!  Taking Jack to meet the rest of the Laxie clan in Ohio, God help him.  I"m staying a bit longer than he is, so I"ve more time to try all those lovely foods I"ve missed for so long.  Don"t need to cram the lot into one week and hopefully won"t gain much, if any, as a result.  Mom has a home gym - so no excuses!  Jack isn"t so lucky.  He"s only got 10 days to get the lot in, so I reckon he might gain a few.  Will post weigh in results when we get back.  Fingers crossed!!!   :D

Really thinking about entering this despite the fact I have never run since the pelvis slipped.  Will sleep on it for a few more days and decide by the end of the week.

Only other concern is that it"s in a Forest and I"ll probably be verging off every now and again to touch trees!

Jaxie did their first proper training run tonight. We were following the well-known (apparently :)) Couch to 5K (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) (c25k) training program. Week 1 is 5 minutes warm-up (brisk walk) followed by jogging for 1 minute / walking for 1 min 30 sec repeated for 20 minutes, i.e. 8 repetitions then a 5 minute warm-down (eh?). This to be done three times during the week. We used the free c25k app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.guyhoffman.c25k&hl=en) to time the intervals. It worked very well but we (I) didn"t realise that the 5 minute warm-up time was included in the total time and ended up stopping after just 6 repetitions :D - that"s my story and I"m sticking to it!

We made the mistake of taking Archie & Fib with us. They loved it, chasing round with Mum & Dad, but the author of the c25k program never thought to schedule pooper-scooping into the training.

Did the second training session tonight. I used a different app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.c10kforpink#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDIxMiwiY29tLmMxMGtmb3JwaW5rIl0.) to time the running/walking stints. Dawn found it and used it earlier on her run. It"s a lot more user-friendly and takes you through all the way to 10k distance in 14 weeks - if everything goes according to plan.

I also used Runkeeper (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fitnesskeeper.runkeeper.pro&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5maXRuZXNza2VlcGVyLnJ1bmtlZXBlci5wcm8iXQ..) to keep track of distance travelled, average pace and estimated calories burnt. It says I walked/ran 3.05 miles at an average pace of 11m32s per mile. It sounds a bit fast to me and I"m worried I"m going to have "boshi on my case :)

It was reasonably tough but I enjoyed it and I"m looking forward to Friday when I"ll be able to take advantage of my early finish to run in daylight.

I now have 23 runs under my belt. 28 minutes running continuously is where I"m at at the moment, as prescribed by my C210k (Couch to 10k) phone app. The extra 3 minutes over and above last week"s 25 minute stints is enough to take me down to the bottom of a fairly steep hill. This in itself is no problem but I have to turn round at that point and run straight back up. I"ve managed it without stopping but it"s not easy - it certainly gets the thighs burning and the lungs & heart pumping. I"m not making it easy for myself by still weighing-in around the 16 stone mark. I would certainly benefit from shedding a stone or two before the race in May.

Tomorrow I run for the psychologically significant time of 30 minutes. That means I"m halfway to my goal of running for 60 minutes non-stop. This extra 2 minutes is enough to incorporate at least the first part of another steepish climb. Sigh.

Next week I"m looking forward to returning to intervals of 10 mins running / 1 min walking and 4 repetitions.

I just said I was looking forward to running. It"s a crazy mixed-up world!

My training for a 5k is a bit behind that

I"ve managed 4 sessions in total, of 1.5 miles each - and they took me 17 minutes

Still - I"ve got until mid August - loads of time  :-\

Training took a bit of a back seat recently due to consecutive, boozy weekends in Yarm and Nottingham and a cold brought back from the North East. I"ve not missed any sessions as such, it just took me two weeks to do one week"s training. Anyway, I"m back on track now.

This week I did 2 x 22 minute sessions on Monday and today it was 2 x 25 minutes. It"s still not getting any easier. On Friday I do 2 x 30 minutes which should hopefully see me run the 10k distance for the first time, albeit with a one minute walk in the middle.

Next week I make the seemingly massive jump to running for 1 hour continuously, but really it"s the same as Friday"s session but without the one minute of walking. I"ll keep telling myself that when every nerve, fibre and shred of common sense (okay, not so much of that) is screaming at me to stop.

We"re looking to book a mini bus if enough of you plan to join us that week-end.  Figure it"d be a shame not to when they"ll have a beer tent for race day in the park.  Sooooooooooooo, if you"re planning to join us that week-end and would like to be included in a minibus, give us a shout.  Want to get numbers so we can book the correct size bus.

Blue Bell B&B that"s right down the road from our house has said they"ll do a deal if there"s a few booking in there.  As it is, the price isn"t too bad with full brekkie included.  Prices below are without a discount.  Discount will dependant on how many bookings we send them.  Don"t worry, I"ll push hard for ye once I know numbers.

Single En-Suite   £40.00
Double En-Suite   £50.00
Twin En-Suite   £50.00

Echoing what Dawn said, please try to find a few bob to help Macmillan carry on with the great work they do for cancer sufferers. No worries if you can"t, the residents of Jaxie Towers understand times are tough. We haven"t been able to afford to contribute much to other causes around the place.

The terrain map on the website led me to believe it was all uphill for the first half AND tougher than my training runs had been, so I carried on taking my time to make sure I kept a bit in reserve. It turns out it was a fair bit easier than I"d been used to and I hardly noticed any upward trend. Anyway I felt great at 5km and picked the pace up overtaking around 20 people in the second 5km. So my time was a bit disappointing at 1hr 0m 36s. A good day however. Best of all, so far we"ve raised nearly £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support. If you want to chip in with a few bob more, apparently the page will take donations for another three months. Thanks to the generous souls that already raided their piggy banks - it"s very much appreciated!

Title: Re: Loser's Ink - The Jaxie Towers' 10k Challenge

Decided a wee update was in order for those who don"t follow us on Facebook.  For a start, my foot has mended and I"ve just completed week two of the Couch to 5k with Jack"s help.  He"s a proper pro runner now (ish...lol), yet he sticks it out trudging slowly along the path with me during my training runs.  Only rules are, it"s at my pace - not his. And he"s not allowed to tell me how much time is left in the run. I"ve got a bad habit of worrying more about counting seconds than breathing if I"m told what time is left.  If all goes according to plan, I"ll be running my first 5k by 3rd week in October or thereabouts.  Couldn"t do it without Jack"s support though.  That"s for sure.  Thank you Honey!!!  xx

Back to the original Losers Ink bet.  Well, I lost and it"s a go.  Lucy has been such a sweetheart!  After a wee chat about what I liked/didn"t like, she drew up the design for me.  Delboy has recently gone about getting a tattoo cover up from a woman near him.  I"m really happy with her work, so that"s where I"ll be going.  Last step now is to see if Sarah (my daughter) wants to come over from Ireland to witness the madness.  If so, I"ll book it around her schedule.  Will be speaking to Sarah tomorrow and booking the appointment during this week. wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
