Title: INTEREST thread - UKIPT Newcastle 6ht - 9th September CLOSED
Post by: pokerpops on September 03, 2012, 10:47:34 AM
INTEREST THREAD ** INTEREST THREAD ** INTEREST THREAD ** INTEREST THREAD ** INTEREST THREAD **

I"m contemplating the UKIPT at Newcastle. The structure seems to suit my game and my recent results (variance doesn"t always suck) suggest that I"m worth a punt.

I"d prefer to have satellited into this but it seems I left it too late!

For those that don"t know me, I"m a 58 yr old recreational poker player with a love for the game that means I"ll play any structure to get a game.
I write some rambling posts about poker and stuff here - http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=10564.225

Over the past few years I"ve won my share of comps in Casinos both in Northampton and in Stockton. I"ve had two fifth place finishes in DTD Super50 games having played maybe 6 of them.
Made Day 2 of a £300 Deepstack and the October 2010 GP without troubling the cashier and got my first Hendon Mob flag when I made the live part of the August 2011 Grand Prix V.

In 2012 I"ve played five deep structured multi day tournaments and run pretty deep in four of them.
I"ve definitely improved my game over the past year or so. Studying histories and reading Hand Analysis posts on here and on Blonde have helped. I"ve not been afraid to post my own hands and have taken criticism and suggested improvements on board. (see UKIPT exit hand as mentioned in my blog...)

February DTD £500 failed to make Day 2, but did manage 5th in the Super50 for £660 in a field with a lot of Deepstack players

March UKIPT £1MM gtd, made Day 2 and exited close to the money when my flopped two pair were counterfeited by running threes on turn and river. Had that hand held (or had I folded pre as I should have done) I was highly likely to make the cash that day. I learnt a lesson from that hand though so it wasn"t all bad.

April DTD GP; August DTD GP; September DTD £500k guaranteed - #varianceismyfriend

Hendon Mob here http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=210781

I"m proposing to sell at a small markup - selling 40% at 1.169 means that 10% = £90, 5% = £45 etc.

NB - If I do play this I"ll play Day 1a on Thursday and the decision will be made by close of tomorrow. Funds will be needed by Bank Transfer by midday Thursday

Flame away.

EDIT - just discovered there"s a live 5 seat guaranteed £50+£50 at Aspers tomorrow night which may change the situation somewhat.

Apologies if it seems I"m messing folks about.

Am very pleased to see half the offered package already taken but would ask other interested parties to hold off from committing for two reasons

One - if I satellite in, no staking required

Two - Ger, Rob Swindell and Bri "Erimus" Harland have all previously shown interest. Bri definitely wants some this time and I"d hate to disappoint Rob (whose words of encouragement at the UKIPT and since have meant a lot) and Ger (cos who would ever want to disappoint Ger?)

So - huge THANKS to Phil and Leigh for their faith

10% - Phil TC
10% - Leigh

Offer suspended till late Tuesday night/Wednesday morning

Failed in my satellite attempt - see blog for details, but suffice to say that UKIPT Newcastle will proceed without me.

Thanks to all who were prepared to back me but it"s best that it doesn"t happen this time.

Right

Firstly - thanks for the prompt demonstration of confidence in my ability/blind faith in my run of good variance continuing [delete as applicable]

But........

I"ve decided that I will play the satellite tonight and only play the ME if I bink a seat.

However - IF/when I bink that seat I will open a fresh thread and offer a small amount of staking opportunity to the four who have posted here, plus Brian.

Sorry to mess folks about, but I"m not sure I"m right to be putting my 60% into this so why would you be right to stake me?

If I can satellite in, then I"m comfortable with that and will play my usual game (if only I knew what that was).

However
because I would like to get to a stage where I am worth staking and am comfortable with it I will, if successful in the satellite, offer the four plus Brian 2% each at face value if they are interested in such a paltry amount.

Apologies

Obviously if I bust the ME early enough on Saturday to enter the £2150 High Roller I"ll be back looking for a 100% stake on a 70/30 basis  ;)

Good luck tonight with the sat, keep me informed, I may be over at the dark side tonight, I am ok with the little bit of something is better than a little bit of nothing.

good luck with the satty. Don"t worry about messing people about. The title does say "interest thread". Will happily take 2% if it is available
