Thanks everyone so far. I was just going to post that it"s not obligatory to do both, but Stuart saved me the trouble by demonstrating his game-selection skills.

One other thing, btw...................it seems the 2-7 is, well, actually, thing is.................it"s tomorrow innt, not today. Good job really. Does that mean I have to refund everyone?

I could do the 8-game tonight, but I tend to coin it in during the Stud games and then lose my way in the HE/Omaha ones, so I"ll give it a miss.

Ta Don.

Confirm $ received on Stars from Myles, Katie & Don.

Now I"ve just got to work out a £/$ exchange rate and convert Carl & Stuart"s stakes.

I saw a mid-rate somewhere today of £0.62x / $. Is the usual thing to use the mid-rate? As the rate is unlikely to be exactly the same if there are winnings to pay back, I assume that the fair thing would be not to return at the same rate, but at the new rate, whether that is up or down and the staker gets the benefit or takes the loss; ie the staking is done in $ and the conversion is a separate thing. If it has moved dramatically against them, I can always transfer the $ on Stars and they can either wait for a better rate or not.

Forget it Carl, I"m not bothered about a pound - it shows that you sent the full amount and they took it as a fee. I just thought it should be highlighted in case people here use it for future transfers. Maybe they"ll refund it tomorrow - if not at least we should be able to find out why they took it to avoid that in future.

1st break - it"s been pretty frenetic, a lot of which is due to LUFCBas, who keeps raising every hand. I know I have been well ahead of him several times and then I have matched my cards or drawn high cards each time.  He is a mentalist who could get a big stack or go bust early, but could do either to you. I went down to 3.9k due to drawing bad when I knew I started ahead of him, but got them back (from him) in a couple of hands and ended up just 135 chips below starting. He is down to 1.7k - maybe I can pick up a bonus from him before he busts. As 2-7 tables go, I think it is quite a strong starting table - the others all seem to have a pretty good idea.

It"s a wreck, sorry guys, but I"ve missed everything. I folded this one to Veldhuis. Pretty sure I"m losing when he reraised and stood pat, so I split my 9-high, drew another 9 and had to fold.

And that"s it. Over already. That was my worst tournament for a long time, inasmuch as I couldn"t hit a thing. I know we all run good and bad, but I can"t ever remember finishing so low down the field; not due to them being amazing players - but because I was missing so badly. Having said that, it was also partly due to how I played, in that I was playing quite aggressively with good starting hands, so losing more when I lost the hand. I could have played them slower until I had a made hand, which on this occasion would have meant me being in for longer, but I would expect to hit my fair share of cards and get paid on them, instead of not hitting and losing those chips. I just wish this had happened in one of my own games and that the guys who invested in me got a longer run for their money.

That"s nice of you. I know we bust all the time and just move on and I didn"t mind not cashing if we had a worthwhile go at it, but I was a bit shocked at crashing so spectacularly, playing the same way that usually works for me. I would have expected to go much deeper.

This made me feel better, coming after the tournament. Yep, Andy, it"s available.

It"s been a roller-coaster. Went back down to 170ish, up to 100th, then 50th and current positions are:

1 shaundeeb

13 KidPoker

19 MintTrav

27 Donald

63 GeorgeDanzer

And I know that that shaundeeb is afraid of me after the other night!

Still 216 in though.........

We"re 34th. Only objective at present is to make 56th.

Got a bit back. 50/70 - this is gonna be really tight, when it didn"t need to be. We were safe to cash, but it"s worth getting them in when we know 100% that we"re winning. Isn"t it? We lost and might not cash now. But I know that we should have won a monster and gone into about 12th place.

Been following. Don"t play Razz so hard to really get it but more than happy so far. Keep it up John. Oh, and yes, it"s definitely worth going for it if you think you"re winning, even more so if you know you"re winning. Don"t think any backers are worried about you not cashing (i may be wrong). Go for the win, or the biggest cash you can imo. Not backing someone just for a little bit. Got to go to bed as work in the morning but best of luck. And if there are more games in the WCOOP then stick me down for 10%, you seem to know what you"re doing.  :)

And hopefully it"ll put you off the APAT games.  ;)

Unfortunately there is some bad news. Some of our friends haven"t made it.

We have lost KidPoker in 90th, GeorgeDanzer 81st, M.Stazsko 62nd and shaundeeb 61st.

Such a shame.

On the bright side, there are 57 left and we"re 23rd .

Man down. Need to be up in a little while to drive to Halifax. John is currently 9/44 and seems to be in control on his table. To be honest though I"m really no judge but he"s chipping up and only seen him lose one pot. WP that man. Hope to wake and hear all the good news.

Good luck x

Massive starting hand at the end - A24 (the second strongest possible), but paired all three of them. He had a very strong starting hand too, 345 - not quite as big but still very strong (though AJD would fold it on third). He paired two of his as well, but he got there. He didn"t have much to beat at the end, cos I didn"t even have five unpaired cards - lol.

Thanks for watching guys, it makes it a lot easier knowing that people are supporting (and stayed up so late to do so), instead of feeling like the only person in the world still up, apart from the other nutters still playing, so I do appreciate it.

I wonder who"ll win. Gotta give Justin a great chance now he has chips. Before the FT he was almost out several times, but won the hand each time he was all-in, including a couple of three-ways. Don"t really care who wins now.

Time for bed - I"m in work at 9am.

Wow what a thrill that was to get up and read through this thread and then wondering where you finished on the final table.

Very well played on your 8th place John and that last hand was very harsh but as with all tournaments you need the breaks at the right time, you should be very proud of yourself competing on a level playing field with some of the great names in poker.

....He had a very strong starting hand too, 345 - not quite as big but still very strong (though AJD would fold it on third)...

;D
At that stage of the game no I wouldn"t fold, but the 345 earlier on facing a raise from a 2 and two 2"s still to act I fold in close to a heartbeat. I didn"t see too much out of line at that stage to think that it was worth playing the guessing game because catching any card 8 or below is gonna commit you till 7th.
Having said that it turns out you had the best hand on 3rd and reraised with the best of it and were still ahead on 4th after which your hand started bricking. Not always best to judge the original decision by the outcome but as I said I would have folded that spot on 3rd with the cards on view, but of course that might just make me a fish!
Does JonMW have a view on it?

Anyways you won in for peanuts and bagged 8th place in a strong field for $3850 FFS, WP that man!  :D

I had one of those a while back - it seems that they aren"t bothered about unverified accounts until your account wins a decent chunk, then it"s suddenly a problem. Surely rules should be rules, and all accounts should be verified before initial funds are deposited..... but I suspect that would not be appealing to the site.

I assume that everyone who transferred on Stars will want it back the same way. That"s what you"re getting anyhow unless I hear otherwise beforehand. My PokerStars account is currently locked, so you"ll all have to wait til it is released.

Dan - didn"t receive payment from you, but I assume you were intending to send it, so I"ll pay you net of the stake.

For the two who paid in Sterling (Stuart & Carl), do you want $ back via Stars - or how else do you want it?

So, the first bit of staking went okay. I was pretty annoyed when the 2-7 sank without trace, but the Razz more than made up for it.

I"ll definitely do some more. I"ll put a schedule together for the next SCOOP, but I"ll do some others before that. I might make the option only open to the people who staked me this time for the first day or so, as a way of thanking them, if they want to go for it. There might be a mark-up next time though.
