Title: Local live event stake request SOLD OUT
Post by: suzanne on September 18, 2012, 01:57:25 AM
I will be playing the OneWay Poker game on October 6th at Bristol Gala. Buyin is £150+15 and has a structure similar to Apat games and looking to sell 40%.
Dont ask me for stats and links, my online history on most sites is not good and I would rather not make public just how bad they are :)
I play on average 2 or 3 live Apat games a year and the odd Bristol Meetup game (I dont get out a lot) but do okay.
I plan to take 1 crack at an online sat as they are £9 rebuys (£27 min) with my 60%, and buyin if I dont get there... but that is irrelevant really.
No mark up but should (when) I cash I would expect stakers to contribute towards the apat 1 %.
Max 5% per person with first share going to mousebob as we always swap and 2nd to Rodders as he  was promised a share in my first live stake.
This is my first request and although I am hoping it will stop me making those marginal calls ...it might not  ;)
5% = £8.25
First 6 requests are in.

Mousebob   Paid
AARoddersAA   Paid
MintTrav         Paid
Sugar_Free    Paid
Josharp01      Paid
Curlarge         Paid
AJDUK           Paid
Phil_TC         Paid
Sir Percival    Paid

Suzanne....would take a % but totally dont agree with your request for stakers to contribute to your 1% APAT payment ??? ???.......no other stake request has asked for this including myself in the 2 that I have run!!

Its part of the cost of achieving backing and imho is totally the responsibility of the player being backed.

That is true but, on the other hand, she has put zero mark-up for a live tournament, whereas some others have included a chunky mark-up for on-line games, where there are no added costs involved. In Dan"s case, we were happy to buy his EV, based on his extraordinary previous results, but he wasn"t the only one. And Suzanne has EV, having gone deep in numerous tournaments and recently winning from 165 starters.

It"s absolutely fine to include this in a staking request. It is then the responsibility of the backers to decide if to take a piece or not based on the request. In this case Suzanne has stated the terms up front which she is well within her right to do. I see no problem with it and it should be taken into account when deciding weather to be involved or not.

5% please Suzanne.

Effectively selling at .01 markup seems pretty fair.

Congrats Miles you have now succeeded is pissing off 75% of the APAT community over the past 6 months. Good Work. Why don"t you have a day off from your pathetic little jibes all over the forum? Oh and yes I know I could have sent this as a private PM but I wanted everyone else to see it.

Not sure why I put it in Myles. Top prize is around £4k and should I win it I would be more than happy to give Apat £40.
I suppose my thinking at the time was that if I was not asking for a markup then it would only be fair that backers pay towards the share. Seems a bit silly now on reflection but there ya go..done it now :/

Thanks guys for the staking, pm on the way.

Again, the 1% thing is fine. Not silly at all, not sure why would would not think it is :)

The same way as selling at a markup is fine

The response you get will tell you if people think it represents value or not.

Anyway will ship to you via Pokerstar"s tonight

Just to clarify, in this instance APAT's share would be £16 (1% of the 40%).

EDIT: That"s right isn"t it? Starting to doubt myself now

1% of £4k would be £40, divided into 20 x 5% which is £2 per 5%... I think. Lets just scrap the idea and you can all buy me a drink if I win the thing  ;D  ;D  ;D

I"m sure myles is fine. Said tongue firmly in cheek.

I"m officially playing the one way, so see you there.

I"m even gonna try and place some action on the boards. Nothing like having a piece of rail action to add to the flo.

Back home and busto the last hand of the evening...sorry guys :(

Blinds were 1600/800 ante 200, I am in bb with 19k back, serial utg raiser does his usual min raise and it folds round to me. I shove allin hoping for a fold as he had around 40k and figured he is only calling with a monster, he did call however with 55 and my J 10 missed it all.

The whole game was a total struggle, big hands AK/AQ I had to fold to missed flops when there was a raise/reraises before me. I had aces once and all folded to my raise, hit quads once which doubled me up when short but mostly I was just card dead.

One hand I would like some advice on.

First level 50/25 I raise it utg to 150 with KK, 3 callers and bb makes up. Flop is 763 rainbow, I bet 550, folds round and bb calls (alarm bells). Turn is a Jack, 4 suits so no flush draw, I bet 750...now why I bet 750 I just don"t know, normally I would bet something like 1200 or more but I didn"t :/ He then raised to 2200....so what would you do?

I folded. I still cant make up my mind if I did the right thing or not.

The experiment of being staked was to try and play the best I could and I dont think I made any mistakes apart from that one maybe ^^^, the cards were just unkind. Thank you to all who gave their support and I will cya all at the bar sometime soooon.

I started on the same table as Suzanne, pleasure meeting you. I must say that you missed the flop st least 3/4 times when you had bigs aces that would have been good to hit.

We had a very good starting table, with lots of callers and re-raisers. Would have been nice if we"d got the hands and hit the flops. The cards were indeed

I don"t remember the hand but the KK had is a fold - 2 pairs, sets and st8"s are all probable. I think you saved money - unless they put you on somethting like AK, but I don"t think this was case given how you described the betting.

UL and WP.

You went futher than me... :-)

Maybe check back turn and go for value/bluff catch on the river if you were bet folding the turn?
Title: Re: Local live event stake request SOLD OUT
Post by: MintTrav on October 07, 2012, 14:27:22 PM
I don"t think you should call, Suzanne. As played, he has c/c the flop and c/r the turn. Remember it was a 5-way flop, so more likely your monster pair will be outdrawn. And he was happy to go to the flop 5-way oop, so it"s hard to put him on that over-pair that you are beating. If you call, he will have caused himself to go to the river oop in a huge pot. It doesn"t look good for you.

I think there is more to this hand than that, though. What would you want him to do when you make those bets of 550 and, say, 1200 - call or fold? Second to act out of five with one big pair on a nothing flop that has hardly any draws, you are either way ahead or way behind and likely to stay whichever way it is. There are a few ways that someone could overtake you on the turn or river, but not many. This isn"t the time for big bets. Betting half the pot or less on the flop might keep weaker hands in, and cost you less if you are behind. On the turn, we then have the same scenario, but with a less-inflated pot, so if we bet or call, it will be for a smaller amount. A 1200 bet here would be too big imo (as played on the flop). Your 750 is much better (possibly with a check behind on the river), or you could check behind on the turn and value-bet the river or call if he bets it. If you are winning I can"t see you getting 3 streets of value here.

I thought so too but tbf he read me right, it was the last hand of the night and picking up that pot would have made me feel much better about going back to Day 2 with more than 9 bbs, just unlucky I missed...did sweat a bit though with an open ender by the turn :)

I never thought at any stage he had a big hand. My first thought was he has 45 and flopped the nuts. If he had a big hand he would have reraised pre. Only other possibility was that he had AJ/KJ/QJ and called because everyone else folded to see the turn but even that didnt make sense, why reraise when he hit the jack as i could possibly have QQ/KK/AA. I think he had at least 2 pair.

As you said John I am either miles in front or way behind, the 750 was a feeler bet to find out where I was as it just felt bad. My thoughts at the time though were ....was that bet too small and he maybe bullied me off the pot. Us ladies get a lot of that you know ;)
