Hi Leigh

Please reserve me a seat ( though will buy online if I can)

Thanks

Asa

There will not be online direct buyin (although we will try and run some satellites if there is a demand)

The feedback we got from the ECOAP buyin around the exchange rates is not where we want to be, and as we can"t find an ideal solution in time for this event, we have decided the only fair thing to do for the players is to make it a straight GBP buyin at the casino.

Once your name is on this thread though, a seat is yours to pay for on the day. (A bit of two way trust)

Pay on the day will make it much easier for the casino to manage, as I"ve stated, once your name is on this thread, your seat is secure up until 2pm on the Saturday.

Hi Leigh,

Please can you reserve me a seat as well. I am in Ireland for the week before hand and don"t get back to Prestwick till half 1 on the Sat, so it is highly unlikely I"ll be there for the start.  If I arrange for someone to pay my entry on the day, will be ok and I can just blind out for first 30 mins/hour maximum?

Thanks

Alan

Seats reserved for all of the above.

We are at 90 of our 120 allocation, with the remaining 20 seats being allocated directly by the venue. (140 total capacity)

If you know someone who wants a seat, they had better act fast, as our final 30 are likely to be gone by the weekend.

Hi everyone, I just found an information on PS about this tournament. So there is my question, can I sign for this if I am Polish nationality, if yes I might be up for this, just need to check out some B&B or something. I am gonna wait for an answer then decide. Hope for fast one.

It"s an open event to all non-professional poker players.  No problem with nationalities.

Thanks

Alan

Alan, you are specifically not allowed to play in this event. Sorry and all that but you"re just too good.

Ha ha, just saw this. Why thanks Andrew, not sure about that but getting closer to that big win which will enable me to live the dream and not be allowed to play in the "amateur" events anymore    ;D Look forward to hopefully seeing you in Glasgow if you"re heading up

That would be great Andrew, checked last night and flight gets in bout 3 and then bus back up from Prestwick so be closer to 4 by time I"ll be there so will miss first 2 levels but still definitely want to play.  Drop me a PM with details and can transfer money via pokerstars or direct to bank etc, whatever"s easiest. The following players have been added to a new list to replace any drop outs on the reserve list.  (This does not guarantee you a seat).  Should a place become available, we will add you to the list and message you to let you know.

A separate "Alternates List" will be used on the day at the venue.

Robert and Paul have both been added to the replacement list.

Remember, this does not guarantee you a seat unless we get drop outs from the reserved list.

If no one drops out, then your options are a small allocation of seats that are being distributed by the venue, or the alternates list on the day of the event. (First two levels)

Arrrggghh, feck... I"d hoped to play this, only just back from a year away travelling and was looking forward to this. Any more information on this "small allocation of seats that are being distributed by the venue"? I usually work on Saturday so would need to secure the day off to attend this and don"t want to do so without a guaranteed seat. In the meantime please add me to the list in the hope that 7 players drop out in the coming week or so :D Please add Martin McCurley to the reserve list too, please. Hopefully I can make it there and see you all at the tables once again...

Done for you Chris.

The venue have an allocation of 20 seats.  I"m not sure if they were just allocating them to some of the local players, or if they were planning on running some live satellites.

I"ll get Des to make contact and see if they are close to using them all, if not, we"ll try and facilitate those on the replacement list here.

Cheers Leigh, that"d be great. Obviously more seats being distributed here would be amazing (and the better of the two options) but even if there was info of live satellites at the casino, I"m fairly local to the Alea so could try make it down for live satellites.

Am I the only one who thinks that if Alea haven"t bothered to use the other 10 seats that they should be returned for APAT members to use?

(Not that i am involved), but i would tend to agree with Gordon here.

If APAT is running a reserved list, then I think these people deserve to be given any spare seats.

Just my two penny"s :)

This ... APAT members on the reserve list have supported APAT online and at other live events, think it"s only fair that first option of released seats go to the members on the reserve list.

I appreciate the casino may want to save some seats for the local regulars and there is always a fine balance ... but if they said the seats were to be used for live satellites and then not used for such, then any released seats should really go to the reserve list IMO

Yea but if they haven"t bothered using them and are just gonna sell them on the day of the event, then surely those that have supported APAT should get first shout. Especially noting there is a large reserve list of people willing to travel to play.

This is a bit dangerous.

APAT should ALWAYS welcome new players, which is why the give tickets to casinos to sell to locals i would imagine. However if the casino is struggling to shift these tickets and there is demand on the website i think there should be a compromise.

Demand for this game is huge on here and APAT should have priority if casino have no concrete plans

The casino will hold sit and go satellites on Wednesday night and a number of seats may be released back to APAT following that event, ie we"ll know more on Thursday.  However, APAT always wants to bring new players in so allocating seats through the host venue will always be part of our plans.

Gotta agree with Des here . If there had not been the event in Swansea at the start of 2010 I would not have started playing the events. Giving seats to the casino and letting them use them will bring new members to APAT. Unused seats will almost certainly get used on the day. We are talking about a very small number of seats here which are being used to promote APAT and help ensure it continues to grow. A very good decision in my opinion.

Defo important to attract new blood and this seems like a good compromise.

I take it the people playing the SNG satellites will be APAT members?

I can"t help but feel a mistake has been made choosing the Alea as a choice of venue.  Sure, it"s big, it"s on the Waterfront and it looks nice, but the way things are organised in that place is ridiculous.  The Genting is maybe another option to consider in future :)

Playing it automatically makes them APAT members.

My concern with the Alea, although I guess this could relate to any casino, was that I played the £200 festival in the summer there but some of the locals that came along for the normal Saturday ended up entering it. I had two at my table who literally were 3 and 4 betting each other blind every other hand while enjoying way too many beers. I got stuck in the middle of one of these altercations with my AA which I obviously wasn"t folding and was bust when my flopped set lost out to one of the guy"s straight on the river - he committed himself blind preflop with 53os! I don"t mind losing a hand but these guys turned up for the usual £20 turbo afternoon game, were getting well trashed and decided to "play" this tournament! There was no poker getting played and the whole table were p1ssed off with proceedings.

This was early in the tournament - think blinds were 100/200. I reraised the first guy and second says I can"t let you get away with stealing my BB to his mate pretty much ignoring the fact as I was in the hand. He reraises and his mate reraises him back. I"m obviously happy with this situation and move in at this point for the BB to call and then start goading his mate to call who eventually folds. It was great for us who were waiting for a hand to get involved with their little party but they were hitting everything in sight or people were just folding to protect their tournament. I"m pretty sure they would have got big stacks and spewed it away in the next few levels.

Hi Zach,

If you can"t make the event, then your reserved seat should really go to the next name on the replacement list, to be fair to everyone.

Can you confirm that you definitely won"t be playing please.

At 5pm today, I will be cutting off this list as I need to get it sent to the venue in plenty of time for tomorrow.

After 5pm, any drop outs will be dealt with at the venue from the alternates list on the day.

Remember, if you have not paid your entry of £82.50 by 2pm on Saturday, your seat will no longer be reserved.  There are no exceptions to this.  You can get another player to buyin on your behalf if necessary, but your chips will be in play from the start of the tournament at 2:30pm.
