Cheers Ian.  Probably could have done with your German translations for a few hours yesterday.  Not sure what the guy was saying, but he appeared angry as my A 2 held up against his 5 2 with a 2 on the board.

I just smiled.   ;D

Good luck to all those Brits still in, and the local APAT"ers, who I think outnumber us.

Should be a great final table, whoever makes it there.

Leigh

Des and Tighty do Vienna

So its 2am. One of us is frisky and up for action. One of us is longing for bed, horlicks and an early morning

We decide to take a cab back to Guantanamo Hotel as Des needs to drop his bags off

We arrive but the automated check in service has been smashed. Des gets on the blower and tries to explain to random Austrian that has a room booked and can they please send someone to fix the machine

Random drunken Scousers also have same problem, only louder and more slurred

we wait in sub arctic temperatures for the man to arrive. I have a room but decide it is politic to stay with Des

taxi arrives. drunk fella tries to hit cabbie. goes up to his room having refused to pay fare

5 minutes later police arrive. cabbie points at des. I swear des looked at me immediately. austrian police, revolvers holstered come up to talk to us. we explain the room problem. they look at smashed screen and ask to see our passports

hotel man arrives., insists I do not have a room booked despite me showing him my key

police question us about the cabbie assault, the hotel screen

we give description of the passenger. About to draw photofit of Kinboshi when suddenly they chan ge tack when they notice that Scouser has fallen asleep on floor by us and is sleep talking incomprehensibly

Police say I can go to bed. Didnt have the heart to explain that actually I had my eyes on Sonia with the tassels at the cat club and please could I have a lift?

Des gets to his room, minus key, at 5am

down to reception at 12pm to find it deserted with a piece of paper pinned to the desk with Des and my passport numbers, addresses and phone numbers

just online translated the note at the bottom

"these English men think they have rooms booked but I do not think so. Please question them"

Wish us luck tonight!!

Linda just lost a 320,000 pot A6 versus Q10 of Kroll (he was all in sb vs bb ) great call by her, wrong result

Kroll 320,000 now
Tu 350,000
Iwaniak 160,000
Kingan 900,000
Klaser 250,000

Kingan has found KK,JJ,QQ all while I was watching, and a lot of raises uncontested as well

10 minute break

blinds 25000-50000 now. this is going on considering these stratospheric blinds says Mr Impatient wanting his dinner lol

Linda Iwaniak OUT 4th

She called all in with, ahem, 94 off in the bb 4 handed as the blinds were a big proportion of her stack

Kroll had pushed from the sb with 33, which could have been worse

the 33 held

Kroll now 750,000
Kingan 900,000
Tu 250,000

Well, safely back in my hotel room, which is probably more than will be said for Des and Rich with their portakabin of choice.

A superb tournament, well supported by regular APAT"ers and some friendly locals.

Well played to Andy.  He played very consistent poker all weekend and played an excellent final table.

Nice one Des and Rich, another great weekend.  I even somehow managed to get married according to this post.  ;D

Anyway, my girlfriend and I will checkout Vienna tomorrow to finish with a bit of culture.

Look forward to seeing some of you at the regionals in a few weeks and if not onward to Edinburgh !!!!!!!!!

Big well done Andy - shame about the footy spoiling the weekend but i suppose 4000 euros and seat in GPTUK is a great consolation.

Me and Phil escpaed the Orange Alcatraz only to get to Bratislava at around 10.30pm last night and found that we were booked into a Slovakian knocking shop/Hostel recruitment centre.

What a weekend - well done APAT for teh whole event.

Oh by the way the Scouser that was asleep in the reception - i am sure he was a brummie - just as hard to understand like if you are Austrian.

Looking forward to Edinburgh and the rest of the series.

Well done Andy great win.  Think I will go for the treble and see if I can get 3 apat champs in the car next time.

Best wishes to everybody I met over the weekend  Steve,Andy,Wolves man, John S (thanks for the lift) Phil, Tim, Leigh, and others who I may have forgotten to include.

And thanks again Des and Richard for another memorable weekend of excitement and anticipation (and that was just opening the hotel room door).

Back home now.  Forgot to post earlier a very well done to Linda, even though she did knock me out.

At one point there on the final table I really thought it was going to be her tournament, but the cards went against her a bit.

Still an excellent perfomance and well deserved 4th.

Just got off the phone from Ironside - he"s still not home yet. He got to Aberdeen airport at 11pm last night and decided it was too snowy/icy to drive the two hours home so stayed in a hotel overnight (via the International Casino :) ).

Had a lot of fun this weekend. Must mention the star dealer Alex, who kept drawing the short straw and got to deal our sit and goes. I can only assume that Stevie must hate him. :)

I also await the publication of Kingpoker"s poker book - I think it will revolutionise the way the game is played.
