APAT are pleased to confirm the details for the United Kingdom Team Poker Championship to be held at the G Casino, Luton on the weekend of January 26 & 27, 2013.

The event will consist of a 200 runner MTT over the usual APAT Two Day Deepstack structure.  25 teams of 8 players will compete for both a team and individual prizepool.

Entry will be £400+£40 per team, with half the prizepool being paid out to the top three teams and the other half being paiid out to the top 20 individuals.

The top 100 players will score points for their team (1st=100pts, 100th=1pt).

Teams are expected to provide matching team shirts for the weekend for what will be a highlight on the APAT calendar.

APAT are currently inviting interested Poker Forums, Clubs & Groups to register their interest in entering a team into this event.

Closing date to register interest is Friday 21st December 2012, with APAT looking to announce the succesful teams shortly afterwards.

This event has seen huge demand in previous years, and we would be expecting a similar amount of interest this time around.

To register your interest, please send a personal message with any relevant details about your poker forum, group or club including any links to websites/facebook etc  by clicking here (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=100).

If you have any general questions about the event, feel free to post on this thread.

Newcastle Poker Forum will attend again if chosen. Can submit 2 teams if necessary

Maybe revert back to 20 teams of 10 after last years disappointment of teams not turning up after being chosen

I like the idea of 20 teams of 10.

2000 runners, nowhere in the country that could fit it in though. Oh well Vegas it is then :)

Luton can do 200.

So can Coventry, Manchester, Walsall, Star City, DTD...

Random groups would be way down the selection list.

The usual criteria is existing poker forums/clubs with an online presence, ideally with there own website, but a well used Facebook group would also be considered.

Groups setup for the sole intention of entering this event will not be considered.

It"s difficult to make it black and white, so we do use a bit of flexibility to ensure we get a good mix of teams involved.

my point was by reducing teams to 20 x 10 players like it used to be makes it more likely that teams wont just not turn up like last year. It also makes the competition more select and gives it added prestige IMO

I was reading through the updates from last year and note that Luton G were using the flimsy plastic Tesco Value Poker Chips at that time.

At least the chances of me getting selected this year are pretty low so you should get a better one by default *lol*

The other option was Rob Swindell but I can"t post a picture of a Citeh fan on principle.

Those chips are pretty tilting though. How expensive can it be to get some decent weight plastic, or even pottery? Any venue serious about poker should be doing better than that IMO

Hi there, anyone know the situation with side games this weekend?

I spoke with the casino a couple of weeks ago and was told there would be tournaments on both Saturday and Sunday, but I"ve heard today that a text has gone out from the casino stating no tournaments due to the Team Championships?

We have a few railers coming along who were hoping to play the sides so would be nice to be able to clarify for them.

Thanks

Unlikely that there will be anything extra laid on during Saturday although there MIGHT be room for something by the casino on Saturday night depending on how many are left in the Team comp.

Obviously, the G can"t guarantee enough room and that may have been the reason for the text.

Sunday, I think APAT were negotiating a £25 PLO jobbie that I expect to be popular.

Swapped messages with them today. Trainers ok, and hoodies, but hoods can only be up in the card room

People wear their hoodies up while playing?

Will this event follow the same structure and have the same starting stack as all other APAT nationals in S6?

Oh Yes

This with GIANT headphones, to block out all badbeat stories from those less fortunate :)

What is the start time please? (might have missed it somewhere but couldn"t see it at the start of the thread).  Driving down from Leeds Sat morning, with several inches of snow forecast overnight here, so wondering how early we are going to have to start digging out the car.  And what time for day 2 too please.

If people are delayed due to weather presume someone else in the team would be allowed to register them? Would they need to pay or could that wait for player to arrive?

2:30 start both days.  No probs with registration, your captain can sort that.  Payment is per team, so no worries.

We will be taking team photos from 1pm guys, so can captains please ensure they have their entire team available in the cardroom between 1.00pm and 1.30pm.

The event itself starts at 2.30pm on both days.

I haven"t had confirmation back from the cardroom about the trainers, but trust what Celtic says above, as he is a regular there and very well known to us.  So I will be wearing trainers....

I spoke to the casino last night and they said trainers and hoodies are now fine, just no sportwear / football shirts etc.

From myself and Team Blue Blood Poker we"d like to congratulate the winning teams and individuals. We all really enjoyed the event and the feedback from my fellow team members was that they found it refreshing to play poker in such a friendly atmosphere, several are already asking me when the next National Live Events are and they are planning on joining the national online league.

Many thanks to APAT for organising another awesome event & hope to see you all soon.  8)

Just thought I would drop this little link here. The article will not go live on the UK & Ireland PokerNews site until 12:30 today (Jan. 29) but you should still be able to see it if you click the link before then!

Sorry its taken a few days, but now the dust has settled, I would just like to thank all at APAT for another cracking weekend and another fantastically organised event.  LBPN are always proud to be selected for these events and it"ll be no different next time round, if of course we are selected again!

Just one request....can the next one be a bit closer to home, or at least central....Luton"s a fair trek for us Northern Boys!  ;)
