Don"t think that I saw 1 decent hand the past hour... Only in the $4k on iPoker I doubled with AK vs AQ and I had KK when everybody folded.

But that means that all the nice hands are coming in the next hour :)

SUNDAY 20/01/2013

Final thoughts:

Hardly seen any hands; and when I have them I get outflopped. Has been like this for the past few weeks, but what can you do besides being patient. Of course there were some hand that I should have played better... I will review them tomorrow.

One tournament was awful... in the $13,50 KO I called an all in with AQ pretty early on. Big mistake... even if I was sure it would have been a flip, it still would have been a bad call.

I managed to get a ticket for the Bigger $55, unfortunately nothing worked there.

And of course being the bubble boy in the $4k on iPoker makes me sick... QQ vs K3. I should have went all in a few hands later when the same big stack kept raising during bubble play. Had AQ on the button and I feel I made a mistake by folding that hand. Sure we were on the bubble and I was one of the short stacks, but a min cash would not have been a big deal here... What are your thoughts here, guys?

Anyways, I feel sick about tonight... imagined having a better start... but hey, that"s poker I guess...

Sorry guys, took some time off to watch videos and do some hand reviews because I wasn"t happy with a few tournaments. Played 3 tournaments to try a few things and in one of them 3 days ago ($22 NL Omaha) I got 2nd for $340 something... I didn"t announce it and was planning the tournament to try a few things, so it wasn"t part of the challenge.

I"m so excited by the Online Cup that yesterday that was the only thing I played :) But I was planning to use this for this challenge as a big thank you for your trust...

From now on I will include every tournament that I play with a buyin of $22 or less. There is an exception for League games (involved in a few leagues and I want to keep this seperate) and for sats.  Sats are only included when announced. Of course I will correctly announce everything; I just took some time off to reset a few things.

So just to show that I am able to do good in tournaments and to thank my backers; I"m including that result in this challenge (the 2 other tournies I played were a miss, of course that won"t be counted!!)

So:

Played the $22 NL Omaha on Stars on Friday 8/2/2013; and cashed for $347,80.

New bankroll: $1.201,40

And you can be sure that starting next weekend I"ll be playing more MTT"s again; so watch this space!!

Out of the $8,80. All in after the flop with top set vs someone with up and down straight flush draw. Classic coinflip and on the wrong end.

No big pots in the $11 one. Just gathering some chips; bit below avg though. But for some reason in PLO MTT people start playing crazy and a lot of them go out in the first hour. So without winning big pots there"s no chance to be on top of the leaderboard :)

arrggghh, keep losing crucial moments:

Stars rebuy: loss vs shorty when he hits the river and then lost a big coinflip... would have been top 5 stack

Ongame: was chipleader and then massive pot with my AK vs QQ vs TT... no help; would have been massive chiplead with twice the stack of 2nd place... still a healthy stack though

thx guys!! It felt good to go far in 2 out of the 4 tournaments yesterday... let"s hope we can continue that run.

Tonight I"m probably only playing the GSOP Mini Event 1 ($22 buyin deepstack, $30k Gtd) besided the Online Cup here. Since we are in the last 16 I"m going to keep a close eye on our team and our opponents, so not going to play anything else, besides maybe the GSOP Mini Event.

Thx Adi,

so shipped the Kickoff sat for T$109; I"ve unregistered from the tournament as I"m not sure I"ll be able to play it... Will just be added to the bankroll for now.

Other tournies:
PLO rebuy: 90/128, 9k, avg 15k
NLH rebuy: 49/1912, 20k, avg 8k

I shouldn"t have asked to keep "em coming, cos that jinxed it... didn"t get any cards since then :p

In both tournaments I took 1 rebuy and the addon, so both were a total buyin of $9,30.

Unfortunately won"t be playing the Kickoff...
Tonight I will only be playing 1 tournament (since I"m still in the Online Cup and want to keep track of our opponents), the Mini GSOP Event 9, which is a $22 deepstack NLH.

Title: Re: DodgyEnd - Bankroll Builder Rail Thread
Post by: DodgyEnd (Tom APAT.be) on March 05, 2013, 09:17:03 AM
I was lucky before that hand, so not complaining.

I was AI blind vs blind with K9 vs A7 (or something like that) and hit a K on the turn.
And with 5 left I was AI with 55 vs 66... 3 spades on flop (none of us had a spade), turn: 5 of spades... river: another spade for a split pot... Lucky turn but unlucky river of course.

So all in all not a bad feeling about this tournament. It took a while before I started getting some playable hands (ask Adi :p) and at that time I made a good call on the river with A high to keep a decent stack which I then managed to build in the following half hour... so not complaining about that last hand. He hit a 2-outer on the turn, but had I gone all in after the flop, I think he would have called with his 99 (KKx not a bad flop for him IMO) so the result would have been the same.

Played: 25
ITM: 4 (= 16%)
FT: 4 (= 16%)

It took a while before I started cashing, only in the 9th tournament I noted a first cash (not counting a sat win early on).
I took some time to review hands and that helped me to discover a few things already... Often I just checked down a hand where I was in position and where I was pretty sure I had the best hand. But when it wasn"t a big hand (like only top or 2nd pair), I just checked back and won a smaller pot... Lately I"ve been betting those pots more often and actually get called pretty often.

a few things I"m working on:
- I shouldn"t be too aggressive at times... especially when I have a bigger stack I play more pots (which is pretty logic) but I want to win every pot and sometimes keep betting/calling with just a gut shot or overcards... that has to stop :)
- if I raise, get reraised and another player calls, I call too often with marginal hands
- I shouldn"t be afraid to raise in early position with a decent hand... especially closer to the bubble, I"m too scared to open a pot in early position with a hand like AJs. This gets better when on the FT for example where i play more aggressively as a lot of people play scared.

I downloaded a ton of videos from DC, so I have a lot of material to learn from :)

Thanks everyone for supporting me so far; if you see me play and you have remarks or want to check the hand histories, please feel free to let me know. Because: If I win, you win :)

So far there have been ups and downs, but I feel confident I"m heading in a good direction.
All in all it"s a pretty good start; but I"m sure that more good is around the corner!

Congrats on the results so far, obviously doing a similar thing to on full tilt, it"s nice to get a profit for the investors.

I used to subscribe to deuces cracked but changed to tournament poker edge, it"s about $15 a month and since I subscribed my results and my play has changed so much for the better.

good luck for the rest of the stake.

I also have a similar one running on Stars with some non poker playing mates, unfortunately I am down on that one, they are all ok about it but feel a bit bad telling them about winnings elsewhere, thought I was in for a big one over last two days 2 deep runs in the big $33, got $260 but stil $150 off starting roll.

Thx for the tip; already heard good things about Poker Edge elsewhere as DC is less focusses on MTT and more on cash game. I found a few good MTT videos there, so I"m going to take a look in the next few weeks.

And after that maybe will give Poker Edge a try... $15 a month is not bad, although you can"t download videos there, right?

Good luck with your challenges!!

Hi.  Well done so far with turning a very nice profit.  I"m working on some similar concepts and have a few thoughts:

- Aggression is key, but just ensure you are selective.  If you run PT3/HM2 you can look at useful stats to start to narrow players opening ranges, 3-bet ranges, limp-call ranges.  Consider your fold-equity when you are betting with a semi-bluff - just looking over 1/2 hands post-session with pokerstove will really help.  Play more pots in-position than OOP when being aggressive

- Ensure you polarise your range when opening from any position.  I tend to open in early position with all PPs (especially where 3-betting is less prevalent as it builds a pot for when I hit a set) ATs+/AJo+ (or something like that range - depending on how many handed we are and passivity/aggression of the table) and then throw in some 86s/97s type hands for when we flop something funky and to give less credit to my premium hands (as players can see I am prepared to raise from earl position more often and may even show down some of these hands)

Hope this makes sense and helps some.

Damn Russian donks... calling/raising with air and then hitting the river. Not a good start tonight. Lost half my stack in the Knockout

CO raises, I (button) go all in with 20 bb"s with AT. CO calls KJ; easy call of course :s And the donk hits.

Out of the Knockout, why do players just want to call an all in to try and win $2,5... wp sir.

31st place in the $5,50 1R1A for $31. Was in the SB with 55, gets folded to the button; bigstack who makes a little more than minraise. I know he"s stealing so I push all in (12 BB"s). BB wakes up with QQ... no help

ITM in the $11 as well, very short tho

And the Midnight Oil; managed to double up but still way down the bottom of the leaderboard: 20/24

EDIT: My first hand: AK in the big blind... folded around LOL :)

7 players left, 3 short stacks including me. 7th place is $88, 6th $110, 5th is $55 + a $108 ticket

About a year ago this tournament had added tickets, now it"s part of the prize pool apparently... doesn"t matter, I want one :)

I was thinking of indeed registering, but EPT London is today and tomorrow, so that means I would have to leave to London first thing in the morning to play day 1B and that"s impossible. If it would have been another EPT, I might have registered.

I"ll give it a thought.

I was thinking of trying to qualify for the Million through the Step SnG"s. What if I would ask you guys that I can reserve $270 of the bankroll to play 10 Step 2 SnG"s ($27) and try to qualify for the Million as many times as possible? Step 4 is worth $215 and can be used to enter the Million.

What would you guys think of that?

A short review of the day: never a good flop, 2-outered on turn and river... a guy who loves A rag on a draw heavy board... you name it, I encountered it today.

This does put a serious dent in the bankroll...

New bankroll:
Cash: $1452,66
Tickets: 1x Step 3 Ticket ($82) (Stars)

used to be better, but the level is pretty low. And you have to be lucky to catch some good cards against them, and today that didn"t happen.

But in general it"s pretty good. All the BWin players moved away so that means less traffic.

the freezeouts with 3000 starting stack are pretty good and the rebuys indeed... they offer pretty good value thanks to the gamblers. Don"t really play too frequently there at the moment though.

Out Sry, 31000

had 10BB shoved on a  5d 6d 9d flop with  Kd Qh v Ah Qd

Didnt hit final Diamond.  :"(

Got to 20k at one point but  Qh Qs let me down v  Ac 10h and  Ah 4c......hit  ad1 on turn

So just hovered around 10k all night and the blinds caught up!

I"ll add a few tournaments later on; and post the SnG id number when it starts.

EDIT:

J/k I wish I was in Nottingham.

No cashes, didn"t get to the addon stage on Stars, and only 1 rebuy and addon in the Ongame one...

New bankroll: $1415,96

Going to take some time to review hands. I ran bad by losing 7 out of 8 flips, but some hands I played badly.

wtf... Million sat; I go all in with AK and someone decides to cold call his entire stack (14 bbs) with JT... and he rivers a straight of course.  ???

I get it: they were suited... pff

And out of the $5,50 (1R1A) and Knockout... both on coinflips. Not going my way for the moment.
Title: Re: DodgyEnd - Bankroll Builder Thread
Post by: DodgyEnd (Tom APAT.be) on April 06, 2013, 21:43:14 PM
And also out of the rebuy after a coinflip... AKs vs QQ vs JJ. Extra outs on the river (flush draw and straight draw which makes 19 outs!!) and again no good.

edit: and to finish the night... Close to a seat in the $200k I ran QQ into AA... of course. I couldn"t fold into a seat with 18 left to go, so had to go for it. Let"s hope I run a bit better tomorrow!

Session result: -$76,80

Playing a few tournaments tonight, but only the special Sunday Storm ($11) inside the requirements for the bankroll.
Because of good results in the cash games the last few days, I"m also playing the $200k Guaranteed on iPoker ($130) and I shipped a seat in a $55 qualifier for the Million.

They normally wouldn"t count for our bankroll, but to thank my backers for their trust and advice, I"ll play them as a freeroll and I will add 10% of any winnings in those tournaments to our bankroll!

So schedule for tonight:

18:00   iPoker   $200,000 Guaranteed (counts as a freeroll with 10% of winnings added to BR)
18:30   Stars   Sunday Storm ($1M Gtd)
19:30   Stars   Sunday Million (counts as a freeroll with 10% of winnings added to BR)

Post by: DodgyEnd (Tom APAT.be) on April 07, 2013, 20:10:22 PM
my good run from yesterday continues:

Million: AK vs A2... A2 can"t throw away on a A73 board and hits, lost 40% of my stack
$200k Gtd: all in on a A63 board with A6 vs AJ; J on the river

still in both, although short in the 200k
Title: Re: DodgyEnd - Bankroll Builder Thread
Post by: DodgyEnd (Tom APAT.be) on April 07, 2013, 20:34:53 PM
out of the Storm: first I ran KK vs AA... and then losing AT vs QT for an average stack pot...

Less than 10 BB in the 200k
Back above average in the Million... yaay, a positive note to end :)

And this will just continue and try to build a bigger roll so we can play bigger tournaments.

OK guys, after a short break I"m going to hit the tables again tonight.
It will only be a small schedule as I"m playing 2 finals from a local league tonight at 19:00.
Those finals are only with 20 and 10 players so if it"s over or I"m out, I might add another tournament or 2.

Current schedule:
19:00   Ongame      $8,000 NLH Rebuy ($5,50+R) => nickname "Nieuwmoer"

:)

I"m following the forum a little bit the last few weeks, but I"m not playing poker for the moment... want to take a fresh start after a few dissappointing results. That, combined with losing important 80-20 pots or coin flips, caused me not playing my A game

I"m playing the Unibet Open in Portugal next week (will contact you and Myles for that later this weekend) and after that I"m going to restart online. The combination of a nice live tournament together with a few days of fun in the sun is hopefully the trigger to get some nice results!

I"m going to open a new thread for the continuation of my online quest for glory when I get back!!!

I made Day 2 but pretty much was card dead for the entire tournament. I got AA and QQ in the first level of Day 1 and that was it... very strange. Got to Day 2 with a short stack and was looking for a double up... And then I get that coinflip I was looking for and lost it. That was it...

But great fun and I was pretty satisfied as I didn"t do much wrong...

This coming Sunday it"s back to the online tables... I"ll be putting up a small schedule by then!

The restart will be for next week as I had too much work to do last night... Sorry about that!

A break is not a bad thing. (Did the same myself last week)

When you are ready Tom, let"s get this thread back on track.  8)

Thx Leigh, I will for sure play a schedule most of the Sundays, and if possible also on other nights depending on my work schedule.

Thanks everyone for your patience!
