Capped at 40!

Mistype?

No mistype.  Holding tank has had to be capped at 40 due to the number of people that have already chosen to use the reserve a seat service.  So it"s 40 places for satellites and direct buyin via William Hill.

Yes, we already have guaranteed seats (subject to buying in on the day).

Of course, if you do both then you"ve wasted a fiver.

I"ll never understand the reasons for running these without late reg - surely we need to get as many people in as possible. I missed it by 1 minute.

Late Reg.... I don"t really understand it.. You have been able to register since sometime yesterday so why is any extra time needed after the event has started...
It is on again tomorrow...
Good Luck to all who are playing tonight...

I can"t play as I am playing something on DTD tonight... Both i-poker..

Because sometimes you only read something at 8.30 and think oh I have time to play that now... But oh I cannot.

And what harm does it do?

I was out at cricket with my son tonight, so couldn"t play. Match was cancelled, and I raced back to try and get in for the APAT game. Arrived at dead on 8, and missed last registration. Not sure why it"s a problem to have late reg, if it gets another couple of £15s into the prize pool

Will just enjoy playing the PLO8 on iPoker that started at 7:30..... was able to reg for that one 35 minutes late :)

Mainly what harm does it do.

But also for the same reason you put error handling in computer programming - it"s not for what people should or could do, it"s for what people actually do.

If you know you"ll be quite late and register beforehand, you lose all the blinds until you arrive.

We always seem to get the same old moans and groans about late reg - "why not have half an hour late reg?", "why is there only half an hour late reg, why not an hour?", "why not start half an hour later and have an hour late reg?". Whatever there is it seems there are always people that aren"t satisfied. Last night I decided to take my wife out for a meal and to the cinema, imagine my disappointment when I arrived home to find there wasn"t four hours late reg. Where do we draw the line? The only fair place seems to be at the advertised start time.

I played a game a little while ago that had late reg, but there were only three of us and the other two did their chips while the late reg period was still open. I didn"t know whether I would have to wait in case someone else popped up, but they just ended the game as soon as there was only one player.

Pretty sure that is the second time you have mentioned that. I once won a heads up match but you don"t here me go on about it.  ;D

Whatever it is that is decided for these events should be the standard. I don"t think I was moaning or griping, I was merely pointing out that by not having late reg on this event, I and possibly others, had not been able to contribute to what was a very small pool - always good to get more people into a satellite to generate seats, but hey.

If all the APAT events were zero late reg, then expectation would have been set and I wouldn"t have bothered trying to race home for it.  However, some seem to have half hour late reg, some have one hour late reg, and this one had zero late reg. To make it worse, some get advertised with late reg, but it doesn"t materialise.   It seems that when we play on APAT's own site, we at least have consistency - when we play on WillHill, the set up of the tourney seems to change dependant on which way the wind is blowing and what the tournament admin had for breakfast that day.

Post by: Chipaccrual on July 17, 2013, 11:18:12 AM
I agree with everyone"s comments on here.   ;D

It can be very frustrating at times when dealing with third party sites to get the correct tournament setup.  Although we communicate all of the details, often things get overlooked at their end, and sometimes things that we assume are standard, basically aren"t.

It is easier when we run stuff on APAT Online, as Matt is a legend in tournament setup (but even he can get frustrated at times with whoever might be doing tourney setup on the day)

The worst situation is where we advertise/promote something and it doesn"t happen.

We"d love to get hundreds of people playing these satellites, but the reality is that irrelevant of where they are being played, not many players are bothered about satelliting in.

I"ve tried to raise the discussion of satellite structures and formats on here before, but hardly anyone is bothered about that discussion either.

We"ll keep offering satellites though, but when we are only generating 4 or 5 seats in total, it does seem a little crazy.

Was there a reason why there has to be a minimum number of players in a rebuy? And if so why does that number have to be so high?

We could have played and if it only made £30/£50 the "winner" could have at least used that towards a direct buy in.

I have some locals asking if it is possible to buy in at the casino in advance. Do we know if any seats are being allocated to the casino to sell off? If so do we know when?

Jack and I had to get creative too.  Can"t have two from same IP addy reg"d to a tourney, so he went down to the neighbour"s and used their internet to reg.  Worked a treat and both of us are in. Now we just have to remember not to load it up at the same time until after Cardiff.

Disconnect from internet via router then reconnect worked for us on BT, since we then get a different IP on reconnect. Very sophisticated system they have there on WH.

Cardiff event is sold out.

We will be running an alternates list on teh day for the first three levels.

The venue also have a very small number of seats that they are allocating to local players.  (You will need to speak directly to the poker room about any availability)

It"s for one of 2 reasons.

1) I tranferred my "freebie" £5 reserve-a-seat from the Coventry WH fiasco, to Cardiff, as I won a sat seat for Coventry, and obv then one for Cardiff as well (blatant brag), or

2) I need 2 seats to sit on.

In fairness either is as likely as the other tbh  ;D

I would imagine that you"d have a good chance of getting in on the alternatives list, especially as quite a few people have only paid the £5 deposit and may not turn up. Just make sure to get there early to get on the top of the list.

If alternatives are allowed for more than 1/2 a level, then you might get my seat  :o
