Title: PLO8 package for 14th September [Sold]
Post by: AMRN on September 04, 2013, 11:08:39 AM
PLO8 Package - 14th September

For those that don"t know, I play a little bit of PLO8, just occasionally :)

My staple game is the iPoker daily $10r, which plays at 19:30 daily. Stats for this over recent months can be seen HERE (http://www.sharkscope.com/#Player-Statistics//networks/iPoker/players/AMRNdtd?filter=Class:SCHEDULED). The total is light by around $700 due to two punts at ISPT with tokens, but which showed up on Sharkscope as cash buyins (around the 50 game mark on the graph). ROI is shown as 65.8%, but clearly this should be higher with the missing $700. I don"t have a Sharkscope account, so can"t filter stats to PLO8 only, however given that almost all of my success on iPoker is PLO8, and my losses are NLH, my PLO8 ROI is likely to be significantly higher than quoted.

My OPR shows my performance on Stars HERE (http://officialpokerrankings.com/pokerstars/Harrierz/poker/results/42970E75F72642CF94DCCEF72EA8740E.html?t=2), and for 2013 I have an ROI of 16% for PLO8

I"m looking for staking to play the WCOOP Event 21 on Saturday 14th September, and to try and allay variance I"m packaging it with the normal Pokerstars Saturday PLO8 tourney, and my iPoker daily PLO8 tourney, as follows:

- WCOOP Event 21 - $320
- Stars Saturday PLO8 - $55
- iPoker Daily $10r - $51 (any unused buy ins returned)

- Total buy in - $426

Given that I have a reasonably well proven edge in this game (at the stakes I play), I feel a markup of 1.17 is reasonable. Therefore shares are available as follows:

50% = $250
10% = $50
5% = $25
1% = $5

I will be taking the first 50% for myself.

My previous stake package fell through for reasons beyond my control, however I gave away 15% of my action in the APAT PLO event to those that had agreed to buy shares in the failed package, and went on to finish 2nd for £580.  I"m not expecting any similar issues this time round :)

Any questions, please feel free to post on here or to PM me.

Pokerstars transfers preferred please - username is Harrierz.

Thanks Myles - if any becomes available before the 14th, I"ll be sure to come to you first.    I won"t be releasing any of my 50% as I don"t think it"s healthy for the person playing to have too small a stake in their own play.

In reasonable nick ahead of time - cashed twice in tonight"s PLO8 games - Stars $5r finished 16th/190 for $32, and 3rd/90 in iPoker $10r for $333.

Took a couple of ridic beats three handed in iPoker game against a muppet with an almost vertical downward line on Sharkscope, but who somehow had half the chips in play

Back to back 3rd in the iPoker $10r :)
Title: Re: PLO8 package for 14th September [Sold]
Post by: AMRN on September 09, 2013, 10:49:17 AM
I"ll be adding a bonus tourney to this package.  I had included the iPoker $10r to allay variance a little.... to extend that, I"m also going to add the Stars PLO8 $5r to the package at no extra cost.

The original package included $51 for the iPoker $10r, with any unused buy ins returned. (I had set it at $51 to allow a double buy in and an add on at the minimum, with an optional double rebuy in case of some nasty cooler.) I"ll add in the Stars $5r, and if it takes us over the $51 in the package, any additional funds will be at my cost.  If all goes perfectly, double buy in and add on for both tourneys will be $46.50 and remnants ($4.50) will go into the pot for return. If I take additional rebuys in either tourney (quite likely as I tend to gamble for a stack in the $5r), the cost of these rebuys will be borne by me.

The package profile is as follows:

Saturday 14th September

18:15 Stars Saturday PLO8 - $55
18:35 Stars Daily PLO8 $5r - $15.50 (plus rebuys at my cost)
19:30 iPoker Daily PLO8 $10r - $31 (plus rebuys at my cost)
20:00 WCOOP Event 21 PLO8 - $320

I can"t imagine there will be any objection to this as I"m just adding value to the existing package, however if any of the backers would prefer that I stick with the original proposal, just post on here, and I will revert.

Hated the board pairing, but still had nut lo draw to go with nut flush, so not going away after turn.... probably could have check/folded river, but tough spot and perhaps lost the minimum...

Break 1:

$55 - Down to 1307 (3000 ss) following the hand noted above. Played a few small pots as cheap as possible, and missed everything so far. Still time - blinds 20/40

$5r - On 3950 (3000 ss).  Played much faster in this than in the $55, and have been all in a couple of times already, but always splitting pots. Blinds 15/30

Gone from $55.

Hood_Ace had called in every single hand I had played, whether I limp or raise my way in. Whenever I"ve shown any weakness with a check on flop or turn, he has bet out. On several occasions, he"s reached showdown with others, having bet all the way with underpair, middle pair, hi or lo only, etc, type hands. In this spot, I just don"t figure he needs to have a K to be flop and turn after I check, and even though I missed my flush by the river, I figured my nut two pair hand was ahead of so many hands that he would call a shove with on the the river.  Of course, this was one of the rare times he was actually betting a decent hand :(

Just ran the equity calc on that hand - he had 29.51% when he called it off.   So 70.49% that I win a 25k pot, and with that I fancy we would have been nailed on for a cash!

board: 8d 5s 9s

Hand                               Equity       Scoops     Wins Hi     Ties Hi     Wins Lo     Ties Lo
5d 3c 7s A s     70.49%     461            461            0           630           0
10s 8c Js Jc     29.51%     125            359            0           0           0

Sorry guys - couldn"t do a great deal more.

$40.70 returned from the $5r.

$4.07 to each of the 5 backers. Shipped via Stars.

Unlucky-it was a poor call by "pickled egg". In my experience of these O8 MTTs (and Ive got over 2500 under my belt) you need these poor calls to build your stack but inevitably sooner or later you will be in a hand where you miss all your draws.  Obviously you wanted to be all in with such a strong hand, so it worked out well apart from the result.
The only thing I would have done different is lead out pot, not check raise.  I leave the check raises for NLHE. My reasoning being I prefer a cowardly lower variance line because I know that there is this perception amongst lots of weaker O8 players that once they have put in chips post flop then they are "priced in", and I run so bad!!

Thanks for the feedback.  Whilst I absolutely agree with the lower variance approach in PLO8 tourneys, and that leading out to take it down is usually the best approach, I think that in this spot, although I had a massive set of draws, I was hoping for a free card, and that was why I checked..... at this table, many hands had been checked round on the flop, and I was hoping for the same in this hand.
