Title: DTD Grand Prix & Gala Bristol Poker Masters package SOLD OUT
Post by: Sillbags on September 13, 2013, 12:54:32 PM
For those of you who don"t know me, my name is Neil Sillick. My profile can be found here (http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=14249.0). I play primarily play on Pokerstars under the screen name SillBags. My OPR stats can be found here (http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/pokerstars/SillBags/poker/ratings/F2DD2FF054ED4044AE9092EB9505EBC5.html?t=3)
I am looking to sell up to 50% of my action in the DTD Grand prix and the Gala Bristol Poker Masters Main Event.
I have 6 Golden Chips (6 x £60 day 1 entries) and will be using 5 for online day 1"s and use the last one for playing the final live day 1. For those unfamiliar with the format, check out this (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/Grand-Prix.pdf). The Gala Bristol Poker Masters is a £220 2 day deepstack event. Last year I took 3rd in a One Way Poker event with a similar structure. I have a decent online record, with a ROI of 165% on Pokerstars.
I have been backed/stacked before by friends, but this is the 1st time I have opened it up to others on a forum. I will be including a mark up of 1.034 just to simplify the numbers

The Package
6 x Grand Prix Day 1 entries = £360
Gala Bristol Poker Masters Main Event = £220

Total = £580 @ 1.034 mu = £600

1% = £6
5% = £30
10% = £60

Pokerstars xfer preferred
Any questions, fire away.

20% - Private
10% - Chipaccrual
5% - AJDUK
5% - SirPercival
5% - Mylesfdo

I will post any interesting hands on here and follow up with a trip report after each event.
Gl us!!!

Neil - the obvious question is likely to be.... what happens with the potential added value if you make the GP final table with your golden chip (either a CPP package, or a £50k sponsorship package)

That would be included in the package I am offering Steve. I believe that DTD take 50% of any winnings from the CCP or £50k sponsorship package, so the remainder of any additional money won would be split proportionally between myself and my stakers

Not a great start to the Grand Prix. Busted in 61st and 59th respectively in the first 2 day 1"s. Nothing really to talk about in the 1st one. Don"t think I missed any spots, just couldn"t get anything going. The 2nd one was going pretty much the same way with no premium hands, and missing draws etc. I finally found a great spot to get my 10bb stack in and ran into Aces. On the plus side I have gained an extra day 1 entry as part of the club cash game promotion, which I will be adding to this package for free. So we still have 5 day 1"s left to play.

While i"m thinking about it, I thought i"d open something up for discussion. DTD are doing 1p feeder tournaments to the £10 daily GP super sat. These feeders are running twice daily and guaranteeing 100 seats, and the £10 super sats are guaranteeing 50 seats. There is obviously massive overlay in both of these every day. My question to you guys is how do you feel this should be calculated with regard to the staking agreement if I ended up binking a few extra seats?

Tricky one with the multiple day 1"s and stack merging.  Not sure what the right answer is, but I guess if you didn"t make Day 2 using the flights you originally listed, then stakers can"t complain.

Well I suppose none of us asked how much you spent on the 6 seats in the first place, however I view this as buying your tournament action, for the whole tournament. If you add more in and you"ve binked them for 1p then I"ll leave it up to you if you offer them and for how much but I can"t say I"ll be happy if they don"t get offered.

I say this as in essence you won"t be fully concentrating in the main game as you will be satting in for the 9pm as well for example and once you hit top 10 % in one game, no one is going to be able to tell if you got a stack with one of our seats and one if the others because of merging.

Post by: Sillbags on September 23, 2013, 14:05:48 PM
I was not suggesting that I play any extra seats outside of the staking arrangement. Any additional day 1"s I play will be offered up to the group. I propose that I offer any additional entries up to the group for half the seat value (£30) (5%=£1.50). I have already added one for free, as I broke even on the cash games to get the seat. I am going to continue to grind the cash games for the added seats, and could lose money in the process, so think this is fair. If any investors do not wish to contribute towards the extra entries, then their % stake would need to be lowered accordingly to balance the numbers. I just want to give us the bet shot at making day 2 with a healthy stack, whilst taking advantage of this added value. James, I normally 8 table mtts on stars comfortably, so 4 tabling on DTD will not distract me from playing my A game mate. Any thoughts?

My immediate response is that I thought I knew what I had got myself into and now I"m not so sure.
Asking for extra wonga changes the offer.
I"m guessing that in offering this stake in the first place you are well in profit from the sats played to gain the day 1 seats you offered. Only you know how much they cost you, but I wasn"t interested or concerned in that when you offered the stake.
What happens if in playing the cash games to get extra seats you crush the cash game? Then how do you work out what to do? If you lose 10 buy-in"s trying - what then? If you want to take advantage of the added value that the 1p feeders and the cash game offers - how will your backers know where your entries came from?

You could just play the first 6 day 1"s and if you fail to make day 2 tell us it is over but that you are continuing on your own dollar. However If you know you still have loads of them to play then you may start to change the way you play in the first 6 - marginal decisions become easier to make etc etc.

I don"t have any answers, but I tend to agree with James.

I will buy 50% of your action in the 1p sats. How many are you intenting to play? 20? 40?
How about I send you £1, that should cover it.

Seems a better deal for me than my stake being reduced.

I never like it when a deal changes after the deal is done. OK if it"s 1 on 1, but to get multiple stakers to agree a fair way of doing this is near impossible IMO. I would stick to the original plan if I were you.

GL tonight mate, I want you to get loads of seats and loads of chips for day 2 :)

I wasn"t querying if you can multi-table, what I was alluding to (whilst half awake this morning) was that your mentality might shift if you adding more opportunities as your thought process may be different.

I have full trust in your abilities, it is why i backed you :)

Stick with it Neil.

To be fair, these are playing pretty loose.  The number of cheap or free seats that have been won, along with a large number of people playing multiple flights means a lot of bullet dodging.

No good for me tonight either. Tired and just not feeling it.

Move on, plenty more chances yet.

I"m extremely disappointed with how i"ve been running in these, and to make matters worse I have to watch these absolute droolers gathering the chips. These are playing like a $1 tourney on stars, so when I actually start making hands and winning flips, we will get there. I"m not usually one to rant, but feel we deserve much more from these extremely soft fields. Rant over.
I have now used my 6 golden chips unfortunately, but still have 3 bullets left and i"m still grinding the cash games profitably, so I am likely to pick up more added seats and possibly play all 12 of these online day 1"s

Completely agree with how these are playing out.

It"s a real shame, and can only put it down to the number of cheap seats being dished out.

It"s just has that feel of the majority of the fields don"t care as they are freerolling or playing loose to build a stack.

If you get no cards or aren"t winning flips, then it is pretty impossible.

I think it would be better to run these with a 15 min clock instead of 12 min. Have just been reviewing on PT and over the 6 tourneys I have played 564 hand over 9.22 hours averaging at 61 hands per hour. The live clock is 30 mins and most live tourneys average around 30 hands per hour. This is why a 15 min clock would ensure an even playing field between live and online. I am happy playing through a mine field, as long as the structure is suitable. Just a shame I cannot play all these live due to family commitments. Maybe I will try to go up friday to play the final 2.

He knocked me out last night with AA vs my AK for a 120k pot, then picked up another 50k next hand when he got dealt KK up against AQ and JJ of two shorter stacks.

Looks like he ran pretty good :)

Got 88k at 3rd break in flight 9. 16/62/276. blinds 2.5k/5k now, so not much play and anything can happen with a 3bet shove stack.

Sick hand, but surely you are shoving to isolate in that position ?  The BB is getting huge value to see a flop and gets enough of it to not be going away in a hurry.

It would have added 43k to your stack if just up against the short stack.

Perhaps I"m reading it wrong.  Either way, it"s horrible to get aces bust late on like that.

I know what you guys are saying, but there was a few reasons for flatting the aces, obv wish I had piled now though. There was a couple of guys behind me with high 3bet tendencys. I was looking to get a shove from hands like AJ or 8"s, who would fold if I iso"d. The blinds were about to go up as well, which meant if had lost the hand to the all in shorty I would have been crippled with about 8bbs. There was over 100k in the side pot, so as long as don"t lose the the him, I still win the healthy side pot and have a playable stack. It was a very close desision, and had no time bank left. I think I was just trying to extract max value from the hand. I mean if their hands were reversed and the KQ had peeled, it would have worked out how I"d planned. I take your comments on board and maybe even with the other factors considered, it is still a mistake to flat to induce here  :-\

I"m not in this stake, but have been watching your progress with interest. You have to go with your reads Neil, and if you have flatted for a specific reason here, expecting a raise behind a fair percentage of the time, then the flat call has credibility and is possibly +EV.  With the way these tourneys are playing out, and with the desire to take a decent stack to day 2 to be competitive, I think it"s reasonable to do whatever you can to try and engineer a massive pot in this spot.

However, I don"t have a %age, so perhaps not my place to comment.

Made day 2 of the Bristol Masters Main Event with 28,250. Average 46k with 88 players remaining. Not the best stack, but with blinds at 600/1200 and 45 min levels, I still have a playable stack. Somehow I managed to play 10 levels without picking up AK or AQ once. Interesting hand with QQ though.

I have around 20k at 100/200 and open  Qs Qc to 550 utg+2. Hijack calls, Cutoff calls, button raises to 2100. Button had been moved to our table about an hour before. He"d been pretty active, but not seen him 3bet before and not sure if he realised this was a good squeeze spot or not. I did not want to call and play oop, possibly multi way, so I chose to 4bet to 4500. He thinks for 30 seconds counting his chips and shoves. He has me covered. Whilst I"m tanking, he starts saying "you must have AK". I tell him I don"t have AK and that I hate to 4 bet fold this hand. He then says "You must have QQ then" I eventually fold after a couple more mins and he show AA. Bullet dodged. Thoughts?

Busted in 50th. Blinds 1k/2k, I shove 26k from co with KQ. Bb calls with AJ and holds. Got up 40k at one point but had to fold 10"s to a huge 3bet. He showed aces.
