A big welcome to one and all, from Genting in Stoke. It really is a great casino here, very swish! One of the nicest poker rooms outside of DTD I think. The atmosphere is cracking, everyone seeming very excited about the journey ahead! We are too!
Teams are arriving and photos are being taken. We"ll be uploading those shortly after the event kicks off.
I"ll be providing live scores from throughout the tourney - at any time you want an up-to-date picture of the action, see here: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=15055.0
We"ll also have some live streaming and a chatbox here: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=15054.0 that we"ll be uploading team and individual interviews to. I will post when there is some content to view.
Tom Brady will be bringing you lots of lovely live text updates from the tables :)
And finally, Genting have their own live stream from the feature table here: http://www.gentingpoker.com/video/stoke-live/
Seat draw to follow..
-
Slight delay due to a missing dealers with car issues on the motorway....they"re on their way..should be no more that 15 minutes.
The rest of the teams are now taking their seats.
Won"t be long now.
-
We"re underway but first a round of applause in memory of Vaino.
Quite emotional really. :(

We"re underway but first a round of applause in memory of Vaino.
Quite emotional really. :(
A fitting tribute for one of APATs finest I"m sure he is railing for his team from above..
Let"s see a 1,2,3 finish for the APAT teams and Blue Blood poker in any order :)

Couple of teams were late for their photos (*cough* London Poker Meetup), but Tom should be uploading them shortly.
-
Man down....Tom's just checking the details
-
First exit of the day is John Leonard, of Genting Southport fame.
-
In unrelated news...the Duke has just turned up looking like death.
Apparently I did the sensible thing in having a early night.
-
First exit is a pretty juicy one, and runs as follows:
Andy Hall, of LPPL and IPO 2nd place(!) fame gets involved in 3-way pot with Carl Drinkwater (LBPN) and John Leonard (Genting Southport).
John Leonard raises to 150. Carl makes it 350 to go, and Andy calls. John also calls.
The flop comes down Q 4 3 rainbow.
Checked to Carl, he makes it 750 to go. Andy pumps it to 1750. Both John and Carl make the call.
The turn is an innocuous looking 9d
Andy fires out 6000. (John Murray"s view is this was "Badly played". He is sat next to Andy).
John (Leonard) shoves all in. With alarm bells ringing Carl makes the fold (pocket Aces). Andy with 4k left, says "let me check I"ve got the nuts", and looks down at the pair of Queens in his hand. It"s an easy call to make in the end. A crestfallen John flips 44, and had 1 card to save him...
The river comes the case Queen. Andy makes a very early double up, and John is our first exit.
-
We"re a dealer short, so Mark "The Shark" Rowbottom has sprung into action to rescue Table #4. His dealing is actually "very good" according to his fellow table mates..
-
As seems to be the case in cardrooms up and down the country, we"ve a pretty flaky internet connection here, so photos are taking a while to upload...
-
As posted above, Genting have their own live stream from the feature table here: http://www.gentingpoker.com/video/stoke-live/ with a 20 minute delay.
We will be swapping the feature table periodically. First time at the break at end of level 4.
Who would you like to see on that table?...
-
News has reached us of another exit. This time it"s Michael Leigh of Sky Poker Hitsquad who has departed.
-
We"ve just started Level 3 - 75/150
-
And another exit. This time from team considered 2nd most likely to win the event! Dwayne Stacey of In The Muck is busto. Whilst I"m typing that another player is out. This time it"s Simon Hyde from Blue Blood Poker.
4 teams have now lost one player:
Blueblood Poker
Sky Hitsquad
In The Muck
Stockport
and now,... Newcastle Poker Forum (5 teams!).
Dai Llewellyn won 4k on the first hand, and has been at the bar ever since: "If I"m not at the table I can"t lose it back!".
-
Adam Matues is the Newcastle player out.
But, he"s not the only one...
Chris Lambert is next to bust, meaning Newcastle are now 2 players short of their starting complement.
-
In some shock news, Patrick Kelly from hot favourites Gambling Network Forum leaves us in 234th place(!).
Not believing his opponent on a QQx board, and with Paddy holding rags, he tries to 7-bet bluff his opponent off the flop. Unfortunately his opponents AQo is good to send Paddy"s 63o to the rail.
-
Andrew Young from LBPN is next to leave us, bringing us down to 230 runners.
In other news: Tony Trippier hates Poker. Caroline Cove is looking for a lapdancing club. And Stu Greenan is down to 6k after running into a flopped set.
-
Not a good day for Newcastle sporting wise ::) ::)
-
Message for Caroline, the lapdancing club is opposite the Quality Hotel according to various people here!
-
We"ve reached Level 4 - 100/200...but rumours are flying that we"ve lost Dann Williams

Oh..and we"ve already done STD jokes.
-
Just witnessed one of the sickest hands ever on feature table!
Poor Darren what a cooler :o :o :o

We"ve reached Level 4 - 100/200...but rumours are flying that we"ve lost Dann Williams
He"s wandering the cardroom so I guess it"s true.
-
Flopped set turns into a boat on the river, and gary Philips rivers the nut flush, up to 31k
-
Just witnessed one of the sickest hands ever on feature table!
Poor Darren what a cooler :o :o :o
This was Darren Shallis"s K9 vs the KK of Sonia Lee on a board of x K x 9 9.
-
James Aughton is another Genting Southpoker player to leave us. He finishes in 227th place.
-
Last year"s individual champion Ben Walton doubles up with a nicely timed aipf call with Aces vs the AQ of Dinos Patrinos. Dinos had 2x Ben"s stack, so is still on average chips after the misstep.
Emma Fryer from AWOP is out. As is Dann Williams from In The Muck. On hearing the latter, the ever entrepreneurial Paulie springs into action:

-
Genting Southport and Newcastle struggling with 3 players down each. In the Muck are 2 down.
AWOP, Blue Blood Poker, Gambling Network Forum, LBPN, Midlands Poker Forum, Sky Hitsquad, Voyage in Poker, Yorkshire Poker Club have all lost 1 player.
The remainder (19 teams) have all their players left.

One thing is known, and that"s that for the first time since the space year 2009, the trophy will not have the name "Gambling Network Forum" on it. Instead, it will be one of "The Hendon Mob" or "Blackbelt Poker".
Which one though? Stay tuned to find out!! :)

Matt's off getting some chipcounts....in other news...we"ve just ordered our first beer of the day, honest!
-
In related news, the casino has run out of Guiness and Kronenbourg.
I fear a run on the bar...and that they might run out of beer before the Superbowl kicks off.

Do you know how irritating and tilting it is you posting these updates, far better waiting for the hand description to run out
Might be able to get some cream for your "irritation"..
Its a thankless task for the updaters sometimes, and sometimes they dont have the hand description given to them.
Maybe im biased because the updaters are personal friends, but i think they do a great job!

Well done Nick, Lammy and Dawn. Got to give a special mention to Dawn who in the first few levels of play yesterday had Aces (twice), Kings, Queens (twice) and Tens (twice) and lost chips with every one of those hands. There are very few players that would have made the first break and this girl now sits on the final table. Nick is smashing it up atm and Lammy is my close friend but I would love to see Dawn take this down. Go Girl!

Rob vs Glen
SB vs BB
Rob min raises from the SB to 40k
Glen hesitates then calls
Fop is 7h 6c 6d
Rob leads for 50k which is called, in due course, by Glen
Turn is 2c....Rob checks and Glen puts out 60k
Rob looks doubtful and glances at Glen and...folds.
Final table is quite quiet..and there"s not a lot of action or chat.
-
8. Lynford Hall, iLPP with QQ vs AJ of Frome Poker"s Dann Crabbe.

Of course, just as I said it...
Paul pushes for 221k and is called by Dawn.
The hands come over it"s Pauls 88 vs Dawn"s AQ
Board runs out 3d 4h 2c
Sweat...
7c 7d and Dawn is crippled but still in.
-
Dawn shoves blind for 29k UTG
Nick calls from the SB and Paul fold
Dawn 8d 7s
Nick Ah 2d

Would like to say a massive thank you to the staff at Stoke, in particular Katie who did a fantastic job running the cardroom under some pretty crazy pressure, and a huge number of players (much more than they"d ordinarily cater for).
I"d also like to thank Paulie D. and Maggie Holt for their updates. And for Dave Battersby for providing some pretty invaluable IT support! And to Leigh Wiltshire for an extremely useful set of spreadsheets required to run the events - the maths that goes into providing running min/max scores means this was no mean feat!
Until next time, goodnight and godbless.
Stay classy Stoke.

Great event and thanks to all those at APAT for working so hard on this and of course Katy and her staff at Genting Stoke. 1st visit there for me and I liked the venue a lot.
Looking forward to next year already, when maybe the "Midlands Poker Forum" can get into the medals.

WP to all the winners and thanks very much to all those organising and updating over the weekend.

A massive well done to everyone involved in yet another superb weekend.
I have to say that table 23 was the place to be, with Duffy and the world"s most useless waitress.
Over 3 hours it took to get my burger delivered to the table and it turned out to be crispy tempura prawns instead. The waitress then spent five minutes arguing with me about it! At least that was better than her response to my query about when the kitchen opened, which was a shrug if the shoulders and walk away. Lol
She turned up at one point with a pint, but nobody claimed it, so she looked around surreptitiously and put it down on a table, then just walked off hoping nobody had seen.
The look on duffys face when she asked for a beer and the waitress just said no and tried to walk away. Lol
Oh, and I can"t seem to find any pics?
I also wouldn"t recommend asking for a lager top....
Anyway, it was great fun and I"ll be back next year. ;D
-
All the Duke Street Poker Team had a top weekend.. Thanx to all the people involved for putting together such a fantastic weekend. Also would like to add that all the other teams we talked/played with were some of the nicest people you could hope to meet.
-
Frome Poker Group would like to say a big thank you for a cracking weekend, Well done to Tom Matt and the rest of the Apat team for another great event... Congrats to BlackBelt Poker on 1st and The Hendonmob for 2nd
Cheers all

Yorkshire Poker Club would like to congratulate all the winners, team and individuals. Big thanks to Tom, Matt and the rest of the team. Although we hand some part time deals, they all did well and joind in with the bannter.
YPC may have come last but we was also last to leeve the bar, all we need to do now is learn how to play poker.
Hope to be invited back next year
Stoke gets my vote for next year (unless you can arrange it to be in YORKSHIRE ;))
-
Huge congrats to all the winners. Nice one Rob for winning the indivdual prize as well. Well deserved IMO.
The Genting in Stoke is a great venue its just a shame they could not put an event on the Sunday but Katy and her team did what they can and any casino that will supply me with a few free drinks is a good one (thin brag)!
Also a thank you to the APAT staff who did all the running about getting all the updates etc together along with the points.
-
Just got back to Bristol - shattered. Would like to reiterate what those have said above. Was a fantastic weekend - my favourite event of the year, APAT or otherwise. Can"t wait until the next :)
Thanks to everyone who put a team in, and hope to see you all there next time.
Unlucky to Ben Walton for not quite making the double, and also to Nick Mazur who came within a hair of achieving a 2-time victory.
Congrats again to all the winners! :-) Look out for some media coverage of your exploits - coming soon from all the usual sources. We"ll post some links up as they are published :)
-
was the most fun live tournament i"ve ever played and not just because of the obvious luckbox reasons. thought dealing was excellent, and table banter was great. met some really nice people - especially enjoyed my first table who i was sat with for a good 8 or more hours before we eventually broke. apologies to the chap i sucked out on twice on the final table cos that was pretty brutal (only sucked out 3 times all tourney though, i have to add). thanks to those involved in organising and obviously M.D. and the rest of the GNF legends. hopefully see y"all again soon!
-
On behalf of The Hendon Mob team I"d like to thank APAT again for all your hard work in organising such a fantastic weekend. So cheers to Tom, Matt and all the other guys. Well done to Black Belt on taking top spot, that"s 4 out of 5 years we have been in the top 3, but we just don"t seem to be able to get the top spot :-\ . But you were well deserved victors, also well done to Frome for their 3rd spot wp all.
Congrats to Rob for winning the individual event and Nick narrowly missing out on taking top spot for a second time.
At the risk of repeating ourselves, hopefully we will go one better next year! ;)

The 888 team also had a great time - we weren"t last! Was our first year competing so hopefully we"ll give a better account of ourselves next time.
Thanks to all the organisers and updaters - especially to Irish Tom for skipping his gym session so he could wait in for our shirts to be delivered. Was great to catch up with some familiar faces (swapping West Ham gossip with Don R) and meet new people (Caroline made sure our table wasn"t dull :o )
Shame about the passport game as I"m sure quite a few of us would have played it, but it did mean that we got to spend Sunday with our families instead.
See you all in Stratford at Easter!

Just about feeling back to normal again after a monstrous weekend in Stoke. Thanks to everyone in APAT, past as well as present especially Des, Leigh & Tighty for organising the events over the last 7 or 8 years. It"s fair to say I"ve had the time of my life. Thanks to my wonderful team mates for agreeing to play and for making sure the weekend"s emphasis was on fun first & poker second ;D.
I"ve met some truly wonderful, lovely people in my time with APAT. Some will remain lifelong friends; some will be even closer ;D
Till we meet again
