Title: APAT UK Team Championship - Live Update - Day One
Post by: APAT on July 13, 2008, 19:46:20 PM
Join us at the G Casino in Blackpool for live updates and video coverage of the UK Team Championship, featuring teams drawn from 20 poker communities across the United Kingdom.  Play will start at 2.30pm on Sunday.

The top fifty points finishers will win points towards the Team Championship, with the top three teams winning prize money.  The top nineteen players will also win prize money for the individual event.

Prize money will be awarded as follows:

Team Championship:

1st - £2,500 and the engraved UK Team Championship Cup.

The owner of the winning team will also receive an added prize of £1,000.

2nd - £1,500.

3rd - £1,000.

APAT recommends that each team prize is split equally amongst competing team members.  However, this is ultimately the decision of each team and where a team chooses to agree a different structure, it is essential that agreement is reached by all members of the team prior to the event starting.

Individual Championship:

1st - £1,250 and Gold Medal and GUKPT Package.

The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour package comprises an expenses paid entry to a GUKPT event.  The GUKPT package is worth in the region of $3,000.

2nd - £750 and Silver Medal.

3rd - £500 and Bronze Medal.

4th to 9th - £250 each.

10th to 19th - £100 each.

Bristol & South West updates;-

All 10 players still remain with Rod Buckman leading that team on 26k, followed by Pat Kelly 25k and David Young on 23k.

EMS have 9 players left:-

Ian Witt leads that group on 41k and Jon Spinks has 35k.

Nick Van de Weyer, captain of Gutshot, is chip leader of the tournament on around 50k. The key hand saw John Mannion of Gambling UK raising on the button with  :as: qh.  Nick flat called the raise with; wait for it,  kc 4s.  Nick checkraised John all in on a  kd qs 4d flop and busted him by making a boat on the river!

Title: Re: APAT UK Team Championship - Live Update - Day One

Jon Raab reported before play started, that this event has been the most bet on poker tournament that Blue Square have experienced, outside of the World Series of Poker.  They nervously await the outcome which could lead to a five figure loss if one of several individuals wins the main event.

Elsewhere, Mary Martin of Raise the River made it 1,600 pre flop.  Rich Offless of Chezger raises to 6,000, which Mary flat calls.  The flop came  qc 4s :3s: and Rich pushed his 7,500 stack in with  ad1 kd only for Mary to make an excellent call with  jd jc.  Turn  kh, River  ad and Season Two APAT English Champ Rich is up to 25,000.

Chezger captain Gerard Smyth has just gone following a raise and reraise all in from Bristol & South West"s Paul Smith.  Gordon McArthur who was also part of the action released and on their backs we found Gerard"s  js jh well behind Paul"s  kd kc.  The flop and turn left a Jack or Eight for a straight possibility, but neither came and Ger is heading bar-ward as we speak.

Players are beginning to move around here and it is getting harder to get "team" wide chip counts, but we are on the case!

I"m sorry, but I want updates on the tournament, not the music!!

How are Newcastle Poker Forum getting on??

Yes but I cannot get to the tables easily because of crowds. Detailed rep.orting is tough

When it thins out a bit I"ll get closer. Off to peer in and look at the Newcastle boys

Exit hand for those interested:

utg i have QQ and limp for 1600, stack 19k blinds 1600/800, looking to push on rr
short stack pushes for 6k
late shaort stack calls 6k
blind med stack thinks for a while and reluctantly pushes 12k (had him on 9,T,J)
pot is now 28k and 10k to call. I call with 7k behind

Hands are QQ, AQ, 55, JJ

Board: JA7xx

If i win that hand im on 45k and riding high. gutted, waited so long for the right spot and lose out when im 2:1 on all hands.

I then went out 9T vs AK, pushing in blinds

=============

Good luck to all who remain in. Shame that we didnt all stay on to cheer you on!!
