Title: RAZZ
Post by: monkeyman on August 05, 2007, 22:00:05 PM
I"m trying to do a bit of research before wednesday and I was wondering

a) Does a flush beat a straight in Razz?
b) Are cowboy hats compulsory?

a) flushes and straights don"t count at all
b) I believe so

Thanks for clarifying that. Until this morning, I thought Razz was a top-shelf magazine. Oh well, you learn something new everyday.

In all seriousness, congratulations to Jon for what he achieved in Vegas. At least there"s 2nd and 3rd place to play for on wednesday.

Thanks - but seriously, how many times do number 1 seeds actually win the games they"re expected to. I expect an anti-climatic middling finish for me.

Roger"s better at Omaha anyway.... ;D

I"m expecting big things from my, ahem, 1 day"s worth of experience playing Razz. My only consolation is that I"m marginally better at it than I am at Omaha and I"ve been shocking in the APAt hold"em events I"ve played so anything other than an early exit will be a bonus!

roger"s better at Omaha anyway.... ;D

There is a cash Omaha regular on Stars (.10/.25) who goes by the name Roger Federaise or something very similar. Cool name.
Looking forward to Razz on Weds, as hopefully I"ll have no donkeys chasing flushes to knock me out!

No they"ll be chasing 10 lows - and then you"ll hit brick, brick, brick for them to beat you . Not that I"m a pessimist :(

i love razz great game and in a tourniment it will give those with a little knowledge nearly as big an edge as those with a good knowledge but it can be so frustraing when you get dealt 2345353 and lose to a kqj72

Tell me about it - although I have found out that I can tilt at Razz, which I never do at holdem

It"s a cruel and fickle game.

I"m on life support after the break because of a big pot I lost before it.

Nothing wrong with my opponents play - he wasn"t to know that I held a couple of his outs - yet he still managed to hit one of them on 7th street. :(

Never liked the game anyway.

I know Iron I lost another big pot because somebody started with half decent cards - didn"t know when to fold when he hit a couple of bricks, but then hit perfect cards on 6th and 7th.

We are running games like Razz etc this week to enable players to try out new poker variants.  Lets not insult fellow APAT members and board cotributors for trying something new.

Who was it (could have been Howard Lederer) who said something along the lines of - playing razz all day really makes you want to punch something? - or words to that effect

I was out just after you Kin.

I had an 8 on the hand you were knocked out on, but a draw to a 6. That"s why I ended up crippling my stack (not just because I wanted to be the one to knock you out :) )

I was watching - can"t believe I double paired on that hand.

A triple up would have been nice there, but not to be.

Good fun though, first time I"ve ever played Razz!

Loved the tournament. Was chip leader for a while, but messed it up yet again! Probably one of the more aggressive players at the table, which paid off on a lot of hands, but got me into a spot of bother as well.

Aggression is good, but sometimes you do have to fold a hand.

I even folded to Kinboshi - once - that took discipline. :)

A thoroughly enjoyable, frustrating, rewarding, friendly, aggressive, lucky & unlucky game last night-but thats razz!? Nice to see that most enjoyed it, but i can"t see a majority voting to have razz on the regular timetable?
