Just started and Linda Iwaniak makes up her SB and sees a flop of 334, sitting with 35 she checks and gets a bet which she flat calls...

Ace on Turn she bets and calls a raise and Queen on River Linda bets again and her opponent gets it all in... Linda calls only to see them flip over 34 for the Flopped Full House...  and Linda is our first casualty of the weekend...

From #19 PLO 27/03/16

and Scott Wood slips out quietly soon after...

Table 2

Seat 1 - Debbie Kimm
Seat 2 - Ady Lovelock
Seat 3 - Kev O"Driscoll
Seat 4 - Lisa Greer
Seat 5 - Dwayne Stacey
Seat 6 - Paulie Davies
Seat 7 - Robert Davies
Seat 8 - Dawn Cooke

It folds to Dawn in late position, with blinds at 50/100. She raises it to 250 and gets two callers in Ady and Kev.

The flop is 8d Kh Ah

Kev and Ady check to Dawn who continues for 700. Ady calls and Kev lets it go, onto the turn.

7h

Both check and the river is Qs

Ady leads out this time for 1000. Dawn sighs and starts mulling. She shakes her head and folds.

(Ady Lovelock)

Both Dawn and Debbie limp and Ady, on the button, makes it 350 to go. Kev calls from the small blind and Debbie and Dawn throw the extra in.

Everyone checks the 3c 5c 4s 4h board and all check to Ady on 9d river.

Ady, last to act in this hand, bets out for 600.

Kev folds, Dawn, fairly confidently makes the call and, as Debbie folds, Ady nods at her and suggests she has him.

"I know your game" says Dawn, flipping 3d 6d and Ady mucks his hand.

(Dawn Cooke)

Dawn makes a raise from early position to 250.
Dwayne makes the call and, the banter suggests, there is already history between these two in this tournament! Dwayne asks Dawn "should I just fold now?"

The flop brings the 6s Kc 2d and both players check.

8s is the turn and Dawn bets out 400. Wayne calls.

They both check the river and Dawn shows Ac 8h

Dwayne chuckles and shows his 8c 10s

Dawn tells me that makes it 6 to her and 3 to Dwayne!

Starting off with a super exciting hand between Kev, in the small blind, and Gavin in the big blind.

Kev limped and Gavin checked pre-flop.
They check it to the river and Gavin says "Ace high" and shows Ah
Kev mucks.

Kev, Gavin, in the small blind, and Brian in the big blind, all call pre and check the board to the river.

9h 5h 3c Jh 4c

Gavin bets 400 and gets folds from both.

Karen, from under the gun, makes it 425 to go.
Alan looks at his cards and makes the call.
Kev looks at his cards and makes the call.
Brian checks his cards and makes the call.
Warren glances down and decides he wants in too and the 5 of them go to the flop.

5s 4d 9s

Brian and Warren both check.
Karen continues for 700
She gets folds from everyone and takes the pot.

Gareth raises to 325 and Alan, Gary and Mark make the call.

2s 7h 4d on the flop leads to Gareth betting out for 1100 and Mark puts the chips in to continue.

8h and a bet of 2100 from Gareth on the turn, Mark stands up to have a little look at the board and his opponents chips...he grabs a handful from his own stack and raises it up to 6600 and gets a swift fold from Gareth.

Alan, immediately to her left, states "raise" and puts in 1200.

Gary, Gareth and Jo call and see the flop.

2d 10h 4c

Gareth and Jo check.

Alan moves all in for around 4300.
Gary re-raises all in for around 10600.
Gareth lets it go and Jo, with a heave and a sigh, also folds.

Gary speedily flips his 10s 10c to show a set of 10"s.
Alan says "it had to be really..." and tables Ac Ad

Ks on the turn and 6s on the river sees Alan depart and Gary add a significant amount to his stack.

Shirley Cole, Ben Keely and Tony Trippier have a bit of a battle:

Shirley makes it 500 pre flop and Ben and Tony call.

Cards come down 6c 2h 6d and everyone checks.

Turn is the 10s and Shirley bets out 1100

Both Ben and Tony call and all three go to the river

8c

Shirley checks.
Ben checks.
Tony thinks for a while and checks behind.

Ben shows 10d and Shirley mucks

Tony shows 10h ...

Ben shows 9d as his kicker...

Tony has 9c

"Everyone loves a chop pot" says Tony as he high fives Ben and they split the pot.

(Tony Trippier)

Carl Pilgrim raises to 600, under the gun.

It folds to Barry Moody in the small blind. He has Pilgrim covered and moves all in.

Pilgrim makes the call and shows Ah Qc
Barry has 8s 8d

The board does not help Pilgrim and he is sent to the rail.

Rob Davies in the small blind and Dawn Cooke in the big.

It folds to Rob who raises to 775.
Dawn calls

10c Kc 10h

Rob checks.

"Reeeally?!" Dawn enquires..."cheeky feeler bet time" and she chucks in 1000.
Rob folds and Dawn shows Kh stating "I thought you might be checking a cheeky little 10 there".

In very late position, Kev O"Driscoll makes it 700 to go.

There has been banter going back and forth across the table for a while now and Dawn, with a cheeky smile and a giggle, makes the call from the small blind and so does Terry Evans in the big blind.

8c 9c Ac on the flop

They all check!

Ks on the turn Dawn and Terry both check and Kev makes it 1300.
Dawn makes the call.

River is 2s and Dawn bets out for 2000.

Kev reluctantly folds and is rewarded when Dawn shows her Qc Jc

Joining this hand on the turn, Tristan Chaplain and Emma Spurway have seen 6h 2h Jh 8s

Tristain bets out and Emma makes the call.

On the Kh river, Emma bets 1200 and Tristan instantly calls her and is not happy to see her turn Ah 7d for a rivered flush meaning his Ad Ks is no good.

Dinh Phan calls 600 from mid position, Shirley Cole calls from the button.
Ben Keely makes up the small blind and Tony Trippier checks and says "I apologise in advance..."

4h 8d 6h

Ben and Tony check and Dinh moves all in for around 7k.

Shirley quickly folds, as does Ben.

Tony draws out folding as he spins his cards to reveal 7c 2c for some kind of inside, upside down straight draw...and he lets it go.
Dinh shows his 7h ...

Lisa Greer in the small blind, Warren Jones in the big. It folds to Samuel Beckwith in mid position. He raises to 1500.

Kev O"Hanlon, next to act, makes the call and it folds to Warren who also decides to put in the extra and see the flop.

The dealer puts out Qh 3d 5s
Warren taps the table to check.
Samuel puts in 2100 and Kev has another look and folds.
Warren makes the call.

7s on the turn and Warren checks again.
He then calls Samuel"s bet of 3600.

When Warren checks the 8d river, Samuel turns over his 7d 4d and Warren shows Qd 9h and takes the pot - around 16k.

Back for day 2 and there has been a few interesting hands already...

Blinds 500/1000, ante 100

Kev O"Hanlon tries to make it 1800 but is reminded that 2000 is the minimum and 2000 is he bet that stands.
Mark Lassman moves all in for around 24k. It folds to Kev who flicks his cards in and takes his 2k back...the dealer takes it back from him and Kev looks confused.
He hadn"t heard Mark go all in and thought he had won the had without contention...

Shirley Cole and Terry Evans manage to get it in pre flop...

Shirley, at risk, has Js Jd
Terry has 8s 8h

They both think the first card over is an 8 for a moment! But the board comes 9c 5s 9s 9d 10c

Nice double up for Shirley without too much damage to Terry.

It is JP Round"s turn, over on table 3, to give it a go with Js Jc

He is called by Craig Dawson holding Ah Kd

6h 2h Qd Qc Qs

JP also gets the double up.

Table 1 sees some action

Michael O"Mahoney raises from early position to 2.6k
Warren, in the small blind, makes the call.

They go to the flop heads up 6h 4c 10h

Warren checks and Michael makes it 2.5k
Warren makes the call and the turn is 9d

They both check.

The river is Ah and Warren checks again.

Michael fires out for 4.2k
Warren resignedly flicks in a 5k chip to make the call and his resignation is justified as Michael says "flush" and shows Qh 9h

Last hand before the break sees David Griffiths move all in from the button and get a call from Paul Haycock in the big blind.

They have similar sized stacks but Paul just has the chip edge.

David has 3d 3s
Paul has Ac Kc

7s 8h 4s 5s 10s

David keeps the lead, improving it to a flush by the river and doubles up.

Paul is left crippled to around 8.5k.

Unsurprisingly, Paul Haycock gets all of his 8.5k in first hand after the break.

Alan Ellis moves all in from mid position and it folds to Paul, who calls.

Paul has 10d 9h
Alan has A s 6d

"I have live cards, I need a 9 or 10" says Paul...

10s 10h 6c

Paul takes the lead.

He keeps it with 2h 3d and, with the blinds and antes, he almost triples up.

Shirley moves all in from for just under 40k.

Kev, with a large stack, makes the call.

JP re raises all in and Kev snap called him.

Kev has both players covered and has 9d 9h

JP has more chips than Shirley but less than Kev and has 10h 10d

Shirley is at risk and has Jc Jh

7d Ah 4c

Shirley set for the triple...

6d

JP will make a small profit too...

9c

Or, Kev will take them both out with a 9 on the river!

Shirley finishes in 15th place

Anthony Napolitano has been trying to claw his way back into it:

He was all in for less than a big blind and called by Terry.
Ant"s Qs 6s held up against Terry"s Jc 3s

He then doubled up against John Murray, in a blind on blind battle, when his 8d 10d held against John"s 5c 7s

He has just doubled up again through Kev. Kev"s small blind 3s 6s not enough to beat Anthony"s big blind of 2s 2c and he is now up to around 33k

David asks for a count.

David counts out the calling stack and looks at the remaining stack and makes the call.

Terry flips 8d 8s

David almost winces and shows Ac 6d

8c first card over gives Terry reason to be happy!

David raises from the small blind.

Kev calls.

Ks 4d 8s on the flop and David continues for 40k.

Kev grabs a large stack and moves them across the line - 260k

David is visually exasperated and holds his head and fiddles with his chips...

"You haven"t bluffed all night, I think you have a set...was it 260k to call?" David is thinking out loud and taking his time...

The clock is called as David has been thinking for quite some time by this point.

He eventually folds and says "show me the set of 8"s" but Kev mucks...

Don"t forget... during APAT's 10th Anniversary year we continue to give the ADDED VALUE prize of a 10th Anniversary Vegas 2017 prize to all our Main Event Champions throughout Season 10, with the following tour stops still to come where you can bag that Vegas trip...

12-15 Aug 2016 Belgian Amateur Poker Championship, Spa
16-18 Sep 2016 Welsh Amateur Poker Championship, Cardiff
30-31 Oct 2016 Irish Amateur Poker Championship, Dublin
10-13 Nov 2016 Benelux Amateur Poker Championship, Namur
26-27 Nov 2016 UK Amateur Poker Championship, Portsmouth
4-5 Feb 2017 Scottish Amateur Poker Championship, Edinburgh
11-12 Mar 2017 UK Team Poker Championship, Blackpool
8-17 Apr 2017 WCOAP, Manchester

In addition, to complement each National Championship and its added value, for each event at the UK stops prior to WCOAP, APAT will host both Vegas live satellites and a Vegas live final... with a Vegas live final also being hosted in Dublin on Day 2 of the APAT Main Event...

Exact dates/details are to be confirmed for all Vegas 2017 packages, but package winners have total flexibility with their package - with only 2 requirements - firstly, "someone" must travel on the package in June 2017 - so you can travel personally, or sell/transfer the package as you wish - but it is "use it or lose it" and secondly, time in Vegas must cover at least the official APAT travel dates - so we will either book your trip with our official dates, or you may pay any extra costs for us to book you to travel earlier and/or come back later

CURRENTLY, but yet to be confirmed, the dates will be around 2nd - 9th June 2017...

Dreadful I"ve only just got around to posting here after all this time but in fairness the shock of it meant it took a while to sink in.

Can I just unashamedly say how thrilled I am to be an APAT Champion as I"ve really wanted to win one of these things ever since I first became aware of the APAT.

I"ve played a number of APAT events over a number of years and I was beginning to despair of ever making a FT of a main event let alone winning one.

I feel I played quite well on day one but I just ran ridiculously well on day two and that as we all know is the difference between winning and losing these events. I won 4 key hands on day 2 when AIPF (all brilliantly reported by Lucy, Tom and Leigh plus guest commentators) two of them were against Kev O"Hanlon who on another day would surely have taken Gold.

As always the game was played in a great spirit and as with every APAT event I"ve ever played I made some new friends over the weekend.

Can I just say thank for all the best wishes I"ve received here and via Facebook/Twitter and I look forward to Cardiff when hopefully I"ll get to see you all again.

Congrats again David, and good to be properly introduced having been on various tables with you in the past.

Good shout re Resorts World too - hopefully see you down there some time soon...
