"Shuffle up and deal" across the card room and we are off.

Nice to see many familiar faces here this evening...

Even nicer of the computer to put a nice fix on table 4, seats 1, 2 and 3...

Not the only bit of dodgy seating arrangements, all sure to make for some interesting hands.

Good luck to all of the 40 players starting...

As more players join, there is a random selection to open a new table...

I catch the end of a hand with Simon Lawlor and Karen Mead the only two holding cards by the river.

The board is Qd 6d 9d 4c 7c

The pot looks to be around 3k at this point and Karen, to act first, says "same again" and flicks in 700.

Simon tanks for a moment befor saying "go on then, I"ll pay you off" and puts the call in.

Karen shows the 7d 8d and announces flush.

Simon shows 10c 10d and Karen takes a sizeable pot.

Ger is off to a good start someone tried to bluff him on the river so he went all in and won a 16k pot.

Anthony Jones makes it 225 to call.

Jo Howard looks at her cards and says "raise" and makes it 725 to go.

Tom Clarke, directly to her left, makes the call.
Ger folds the button and Craig Dawson makes the call from the blinds.

2d 8h 5s

Anthony checks and Jo continues for 875
Tom Folds, Craig makes the call and so does Anthony.

7c turn is checked by Anthony and Jo bets again, 2600.

Craig and Anthony both call.

River card Ah

Anthony checks, Jo asks the dealer to spread the pot and makes a roughly half pot sized bet of 6500.

Craig and Anthony both fold reasonably quickly and Jo takes the pot.

*Jo Howard would like to make it know that, at this point in the tournament she a) has above starting stack and b) is quite possibly chip leader...ish...somewhere*

This was noted approx 25 mins into the start of level 1...

JP, in the small blind...

makes it up to 100 with three callers in front and the big blind, behind, checks.

9d 5c 2d flop and JP checks.

Phllip Buttle bets 300 and gets called by Richard (Dickie) Evans and JP.

5d turn gets checked all round.

4s

They all check, and JP declares "straight" and turns over Ac 3d .

Nevertheless, he scoops the pot.

Simon Lawlor down to less than 5k following his set of 4"s being busted by a straight and a flush before taking a large chunk of Simon"s chips.

He gets in a pot with Luke Jenkins who makes it 725 pre flop on Simon"s small blind. Simon calls and David Pilkington, in the small blind, folds.

Simon and Luke get Qh 8d Js

Simon check calls Luke"s bet of 700 and they see a turn of 6d

Luke leads out, after Simon checks, for 1000 and Simon lets it go...

It"s all a bit...interesting on Table 2.

6 limpers see a flop...turn...and river, all checked - 8d Ah 6c 7h 10c

Two split the pot with Qs 10d and Qh 10s

Then, next hand, several players call a small preflop raise, including David Pilkington and Karen Mead from the Big Blind.

They 7d 2d 5h flop is checked round to David. He makes it 1k to go.
All the others fold, except Wai Gao.

He and David see a Kd turn and Wai calls David"s 1500 bet.

The final card down is the Qs and David bets 2k

Wai tentatively makes the call and David announces "Ace high" and turns over A s Jc

Wai turns his Ad ... accompanied by his winning 2s and takes the pot!

Elsewhere, over on Table 5, we have our first exit of the evening in Daniel Lowe.

Glenn Laming scoops a nice pot...

I arrive with the board showing Qs Kc 3d 8c 9h

Darren Proud has made the call of Glenn"s visibly sizeable river bet into an around 5k pot but Glenn shows Kd Qh and Darren mucks and Glenn adds a decent amount to his stack.

Rudders caught my attention...he wants to publicise his chip count - 24k+...he does not want to advertise how his 5h 9h and Js 8d got him to that chip count...

Two more exits, one sneaky quiet exit from Brinley Jones...

And one more dramatic exit:

4c Jh 6c on the flop and betting ensues...
Richard Rudling-Smith bets 225
Frederick Edwards raises that to 525
Jake Dursley re-raises to 1525 and gets called by Gareth Brideaux and Frederick.

The three of them see Ah

Frederick checks and Jake moves all in for 10325
Gareth pauses for a while...and makes the call, he has Jake covered. Frederick gets out the way and the cards go over.

"You"re after the flush, aren"t you?" says Jake as he shows his 6s 6h
"I knew it" Jake proclaims as Gareth tables Ac 5c

River...Kc and Jake is out when Gareth makes his flush.

(Gareth Brideaux)

Well...

Ger and Jo have a little dance...

Flop of 6c s 6s

They both end up putting 2100 into the middle.

Turn is 5h and Ger leads out for 3.5k

Jo states "all in" for around 11.5k

Ger tanks...."nice hand" he says as he mucks his cards.

Jo shows Ah A s and receives a chorus of "again??" from around the table...

Karen Mead makes it 325 pre flop and gets called by Wai Guo, James Edwards, David Pilkington in the small blind and Anthony Jones in the big blind.

Flop comes down Qc Qd Ac

It is checked in the blinds to Karen, who bets 525 and is called by Wai and James, David and Anthony both fold.

10s sees Karen slow down and she checks.
Wai has no such intentions and bets 2k.
James calls and Karen thinks for a while and then folds.

River card is the 9d and Wai leads out for 2k again.

James goes into the tank and Wai is on the verge of calling a clock when James makes the call saying "I think he has a queen"
Wai shows Qs 7h and takes the lot as James mucks.

Karen Mead is down to fewer chips than she"d like, around about 1k, following what sounded like a brutal run in between AQ and Aces...she did not come out of it favourably...

She did, whilst I was stood watching, collect a checked down pot with her Qd 3c and she is now at around 1800.

She is guaranteed to outlast Philip Buttle and Simon Lawlor...as they exit quietly in the background somewhere...

Simon Lawlor - exit hand:

He moved all in with Jh Js

He is called by Wai Gou holding A s Qs

Flop comes very favourably - Ac Jd 6c

Turn is an ever better 6d and David Pilkington, on the table with them, says "Oh, Simon, you"ve won it now..."

Ad on the river to demonstrate why David was wrong...Simon is out.

Craig Dawson gets a much needed double up from Jo Howard.

I join with the flop of 6c 10d 6s

Jo bets out for not much less than Craig"s remaining 2100 and Craig says "all of it" and Jo calls.

Js Jh for Craig

"Nice hand, I thought you had Ace queen or similar" from Jo as she tables 3s 3h

No drama with the 5h 8c on the turn and river and Craig takes the pot.

Karen Mead has found a triple up with Ace Queen and is currently on around 3.5k.

Over on the crazy Table 5, there is an early position raise from Dan Owston to 500.

Dianne Chevrier makes the call.

Di Llwellyn re raises it to 2300.

Ger, short stacked and in the big blind, moves all in.

Dan and Dianne get out of the way and Di makes up the extra to make the call.

Di has 10d 10c
Ger has 3c 3h

"3 in the window!!" calls Jo Howard...

Ks Ad 3d on the flop!!

Jc on the turn for a bit more of a sweat...

But the 2c river means Ger gets the double and is now on around 11k.

JP Round raises pre flop and is called by Keith Thomas.

They see the 10s 5s Qd on the flop and Keith check calls JP"s continuation bet of 1200.

They both check the 5d on the turn and the 6c river brings no action either.

JP shows Ad Kh and Keith takes the pot with his 10c 9s

Much exclamation on Table 4!

Glenn Laming and Michael Jeffers are the victims of Frederick Edwards" royal flush as his Qc matches with the Ac Kc Jc 10c on the board and he scoops "A GRAND!!" from Glenn and a much more sizeable amount from Michael.

Exits since the break:

Rhys Langley
Karl Powell
Di Llwellyn
Steve Gray

Dylan Jones gets a double up, courtesy of Tony Griffiths.

Dylan moves all in pre flop, following Tony"s raise, and Tony makes the call.

The cards go on their backs and Dylan has Ah Qh
Tony has 10c Jc

The board runs out Qs 5s 3d 10d 4d and Dylan is on around 13.5k

Joining the hand with 4d 9h 3d flop and Glenn Laming has bet out 1k

Richard Rudling-Smith makes it 3.5k and Stephen Harrison, following some thinking and calculations, makes the call. Glenn folds out of the way.

Qs on the turn and Stephen checks. Rudders bets 10k - effectively putting Stephen all in.

Stephen folds and Rudders gathers in the circa 10k pot.

Ger Smyth, Dianne Cevrier and Naaman Morris have all seen a flop of 10c Qh and Ks

With the pot at around 6k, Naaman checks.
Ger bets around 2k.

Dianne asks short stacked Naaman how much he has left and then raises to 9k.

Naaman moves all in and is quickly called in both spots by Ger and Dianne.

All the cards go on their backs

Ger has Kd 10d
Dianne has Jd 8d
Naaman has Qs Qc

9s on the turn sees Dianne take the lead...

But the Jh on the river means all fast pulse rates slow as it is a 3 way chop pot!!

"Lead the flop, smash it on the turn, chop it on the river..." says Dianne...

Poker is one of those games...

Tony Lynch makes it 1k to play.

Wai Guo re raises to 10k.

Jo Howard folds her big blind and it is back round to Tony who raises a small amount to go all in and is called by Wai.

Tony has Kd Qs he is behind and at risk
Wai has Ac Kc

4h 7s 9d

It isn"t looking good for Tony...

Js on the turn and Tony gains a few outs...

10d Tony gets the double!!

Details from David Pilkington....who has had time to have more alcohol...are as follows:

"I had aces...he had two pair...I went all in...he had two pair and I had aces"

Players who have joined him (presumably at the bar!) in the last level are:

Paul Barnes
Jo Howard
Dan Owston
Ikjeet Singh
Stephen Harrison

Jo raised pre with two red Queens. The flop came lower than a Queen with 3 spades. Jo ends up all in and her opponent takes around 4 minutes to call...with pocket Kings...including Ks...tough call... but it held and Jo is on the rail.

It is folded to Ger in early position, he raises to 500 and gets 6 callers! Including the big and small blinds.

The first three cards over are 3d Ad Ac and they all check.

7c on the turn and it is checked to Ger.

He flips in 1200 and it folds to Gholam Modir (small blind) who raises it to 4.8k

It folds to Ger who moves all in for not very much more.

Gholam instantly makes the call and shows A s 10c
Ger shows 7h 5c

The river Ks means Gholam keeps the lead, wins the hand and sends Ger to the rail.

Craig Dawson moves all in pre flop with his remaining 1425 chips.

He is called in two places by Wai Guo and Tony Lynch, who both have chips behind.

John Murray is cheering for Wai or Tony...

They both check down the board of Kd Jh 9h 2d 3c

Craig shows Ac Qs
Wai has 9s 8h
Tony has A s 10d

Craig hits the rail.

Glenn Laming has told me his version of his exit hand...and Paul Davis has told me his version...

I think it is fair to say that Glenn called a raise from Paulie pre flop and the rest didn"t go so well for him.

Paulie has Ace King

Glenn has Ac 7c

There are two clubs on the flop (Glenn"s version)

There are two clubs by the turn (Paulie"s version)

The chips all go in at some point after the flop and Glenn doesn"t improve and is now with the other poker fatalities - drowning their "sorrows" at the bar.

I catch the end of a hand with Simon Lawlor and Karen Mead the only two holding cards by the river.

The board is Qd 6d 9d 4c 7c

The pot looks to be around 3k at this point and Karen, to act first, says "same again" and flicks in 700.

Simon tanks for a moment before saying "go on then, I"ll pay you off" and puts the call in.

Karen shows the 7d 8d and announces flush.

Simon shows 10c 10d and Karen takes a sizeable pot.

flush came on river in case it looked even odder . Karen bet 700 pre with bb 50 , admitted she was meant to bet 225 :) bet 700 on every street and I asked if she was a Le Ganley fan :(

Karen Mead, Dianne Chevrier and Naaman Morris all have cards on their backs as I approach the table!

Naaman is all in for around 13k and has 9s 9d
Karen is also all in for less and has Qh Jc
Dianne has chips behind and has Qc Jh

Js 5d 7s 4s 5h board.

Karen and Dianne chop the pot, Naaman is out of the tournament.

Karen now on circa 5k.

JP Round makes it 1500 to go from late position.

Steve "Rodders" Rodderick announces "raise"  but only puts in 1750.

The dealer corrects him and he puts in the 2600 to correctly raise.

It folds back round to JP and he re-raises to 6k...

Rodders thinks for a fair amount of time but eventually folds.

Micheal Jeffers moves all in for just over 21k from mid position.

Richard Rudling-Smith asks how much it is and makes a swift move of all in himself.

Everyone else passes and the cards are turned

Micheal has Ac Kd
Rudders has Jd Jh

3s Qc 6d flop, Rodders is still ahead and has Michael covered.

8h turn doesn"t change anything and Micheal needs an ace or a king on the river to stay in the tournament and leave Rudders very short stacked.

9h river and Rudders" pocket Jacks hold up and he ends Michael"s tournament and adding over 21k to his stack.

A little flurry of all in moves around the room...

First it is Liam Winder, all in, against Gholam Modir.

Liam has Jd Js and is at risk.

Gholam has Ac 8s

10h Jh 3c Kh 7s and Liam just over doubles his 11k stack.

On another table Darren Proud and Frederick Edwards lock horns.

Darren has around 5k and Jh 10h
Frederick has him covered but is ahead with Ah Kc

7h 2c 5c 10s 9h and Darren, again, just over doubling his stack.

Post by: Luthee13 on September 17, 2016, 00:02:08 AM
And on the other table, Justin Cox pushes all in in very early position for just over 6k.
It folds to Tom Clark in late position, he re raises all in to more than 20k.

It folds and they are on their backs.

Tom has Kh Qs
Justin - Ac 9c ahead but at risk.

3s Qd 2c on the flop sees Tom take the lead.

Jc 7s on the turn and river mean Tom eliminates Justin and adds a nice 6k to his stack.

Also recently bust:

Dylan Jones
James Edwards

Karen Mead has gotten herself back up to around 11k!

She calls a small raise pre flop from Tony Lynch, as does Ian Mason.

Ks 7s Kd

They all check

Jd turn. Karen checks.

Ian best 2.5k and Tony makes the call. Karen folds.

Jh river and Ian bets again, 3.8k.
Tony puts the call across the line and shows 9d 9s

Ian mucks and Tony adds a nice sized pot to his stack.

Colin Erison and Terry Evans have a tangle.

Terry makes it 1400 pre flop and Colin raises to 3100.

It folds back to Terry who moves all in.
Colin makes the call and they flip them.
"I"m just hoping I am live" says Terry, tabling Qs Jh
"oh..." he says as he sees Colin"s Kd Ks turned over.

Never easy with a 2c 8d Qd flop... 10c turn making it sweatier...but the Kh on the river sees Colin double through Terry.

Colin on around 30k, Terry around the 12k mark.

JP Round and Tom Clark enter a raising war pre flop and all the chips go in.

JP has Qs Qh and is visibly disheartened by Tom turning over Kc Kd

A s Jc 5h flop

3s turn and JP needs a Queen on the river to survive...

2d means JP is sent to the rail by Tom - who adds around 40k to his stack.

3c 6h 4c

Karen instantly moves her remaining 4.2k across the line and Wai makes the call.

Wai has Qh 10h and has Karen covered.

Karen has Kc Qc

2c on the turn and 9d on the river, Karen gets the double up to around 15k....average stack is 41k...

Mega hand as we reach 10 minutes left of play and last 6 hands announced.

Karen calls for 1k in mid position as does Ian Mason behind her.

Gholam Modir, in the small blind, makes it 2k to go.
Wai Guo calls from the small blind and Karen and Ian both call too.

They all check it down until the river - 4s Ac 8d 2d 3c

Then...well...Gholam makes it 3k.
Wai says 13k.
Karen gets out of the way
Ian calls 13k from a stack of around 20k
Gholam re raises all in for not much more than the 13k.
Wai re raises all in for enough to put Ian all in...and Ian calls!

Wai has the other two covered and it is too close to tell between Gholam and Ian at this point...

Ian says "well, no one has five, six..."
Wai quickly says "yes, me, I do!" and flips 5c 6c for the higher straight.

Gholam and Ian both show 5 7 os and Wai happily takes the lot and knocks out two players in the process!
