I approach the table as Richard Baker completes the small blind in a 5 way pot and Stuart Astbury checks in the big blind.

3s Jc 9s

They all check

3h on the turn.

Richard checks, Stuart bets 200.

It folds to Scott Berridge on the button, he makes the call and Richard folds.

3c on the river and Stuart reaches for chips and makes it 450 to go.

Scott announces "raise" and puts in 1500.

Stuart makes the call and Scott quickly says "nuts" and turns over 10d 3d for quads!!

Stuart mucks and Scott takes the pot.

Paul Rice is makes up a small raise from the big blind in another five way pot.

5h 3h Ks on the flop and all 5 check.

9h on the turn.

It checks to John Murray and he makes it 600.

He looks puzzled when both Martin Wilson, on the button, and Paul make the call. The other two fold.

3c on the river, Paul checks to John.

John studies the pot and makes a bet for 1300.

Martin folds with some ease, as does Paul.

"Grrrr" says John as he turns over his 3d 3s for quad 3"s...

9 full tables of 10 and a healthy list of alternates, and Cardiff is SOLD OUT*. Great turnout from APAT regulars and local players alike. Thanks to all for making the effort! :D

I started my day with a spot of wakeboarding in Cardiff Bay :) Great fun! :)

Laura Rhoden sneaks in and raises it up to 125.

Richard Baker and 3 others make the call.

Kd 7s Jd

It checks to Laura who bets 250 and gets one caller in Rais Khan.

2s on the turn and Rais checks to Laura who bets 500 and Rais lets it go.

Nice little pot to start the day.

David Kingswell and Daniel Lewis are the two left holding cards after a board of 8d Jc Js 2h 6h

The pot is around 4k and David leads out for 525.
Daniel raises it to 2575
David says "all in"

Daniel thinks for a little while...says "Kings are no good then?" and folds Ks Kc face up.

David tables Ac Jd and shows Daniel his fold was good and scoops around 7k for his stack.

Level 2, blinds 50/100

Laura Rhoden, on the button with one caller in front, makes it 800 to go.

Scott Berridge in the big blind makes up the difference to call, as does Rais Khan.

8d 10c 10h

It checks round to Laura who bets 600 and then sighs a little*
Scott quickly calls and Rais folds.

Qc turn.

Scott checks and Laura checks behind.

3c river and they both check again.

Scott turns over Kd Ks "I was worried you"d got Aces"

Laura shows Ad Kc *"I probably saved money - I meant to bet 1500 on the turn!"

Scott takes the pot.

Shirley Cole takes down a small but nice pot -

Daniel Lewis raises to 300 from under the gun.
It folds to Shirley makes the call, in the cut off, as does Alan Vinnicombe on the button.
The blinds fold and we see the flop - 7h 4c 6d

Daniel checks and Shirley bets 500.
Alan calls and Daniel folds.

8s on the turn and Shirley bets out for 1k.
Alan thinks for a few moments but folds.

Liam Alcock raises to 275
Brian Frew makes it 550
John Murray and Liam make the call.

John checks blind.
Jh 9c 6c

Liam checks.
Brian makes it 1500

John says "we fold" and pushes his and Liam"s cards towards the muck!

Liam agrees though and Brian takes the pot.

We"ve lost of first player of the day. Normally a sure bet to go deep: Stu Greenan at the hands of Steve "Rebecca"s Dad" Redfern.

Stu raises to 300. Steve pops it to 1000. Stu makes it 2700. Steve asks for a chip count (11.5k).

It"s no conundrum for Steve, as he shoves all-in. Stu, holding Kings, has no choice but to call. Steve has the one hand beating Stu, and it holds. Stu Greenan is first out!

Chris Webber makes it 250
Kev O"Driscoll makes the call and they go heads up to the flop.

3s Ac 2h

Kev checks and Chris bets 250 again and Kev calls.

8h

Kev check calls 650 from Chris.

They both check the 4c river and Kev turns Ad 7s and takes the pot as Chris mucks.

Flop is 8d 9h Jd

Clare moves all in and is called.

Two brick cards on the turn and river and Duffy doubles.

It folds to Shirley who makes the call.

Shirley bets 450 and Gareth calls.

3s turn

Shirley makes it 900 and Gareth folds leaving Shirley to scoop up the chips.

2s on the turn and they both check.

Kh river and Floyd bets 1k.

Jonathan thinks for a while and raises to 3k.

Jason Hayzelden is the third of the day to hit the rail.

Elsewhere on a board of 10h Kh Qs 10d , with around 6k in the pot, Brian Frew has lead out for 1500 and Martin Wilson has made the call.

Paul Rice has raised it to 6500 and John Murray is in the tank big style...muttering under his breath...talking through the hand...eventually he folds.
As do Brian and Martin and Paul takes the pot.

Kev O"Driscoll has moved all in on a board of Qd 8h Jd 5c and it is now onto Floyd Williams to make the 15k+ decision...

He thinks for an incredibly long but eventually folds, showing Qh 9h

Kev shows him 9c 10c for the straight.

There is roughly 3.5k in the middle, the flop has come over 6c 7h 10c and John Murray, small blind, Liam Alcock, big blind and Jack Hipkiss on the button.

John checks.
Liam bets 2150
Jack makes the call and so does John...turn time...

Ad

John checks, Liam checks and Jack puts out a bet of 2725
John folds and Liam calls.

3c on the river.

Liam checks and Jack pushes in a 5k chip and says "42 hundred"

Liam thinks, he counts his stack, he looks at the board and Jack...eventually...he makes the call.

Jack instantly flicks his cards towards the muck and Liam asks "do you want me to show" Jack just shakes his head...so Liam mucks his cards and adds a significant amount to his stack.

Steven Bayliff is sat thinking as I walk over.

The pot is around 2k and the flop has come out Qc Ks 3s

Mark Porter put out a bet for 1200.
Steven originally called this.
But then John Hanlon made it 3.5k and Mark re-raised all in for around 7k.

Steven is next to act and is tanking hard...

He eventually folds and John makes the call.

Mark has A s Ah
John has Kd 3d he is ahead with two pair and has Mark covered

Turn is the Jc

River... 10c and Mark is saved by the river and doubles up!

Robert Quinn, under the gun, raises it up to 525.

Jason Kemp re raises from mid position to 1525.

Robert calls and the first 3 cards are 4c 10d 5h

Robert checks and Jason bets 1725. Robert calls.

7s on the turn sees them both check.

River of 6s and Robert comes out firing for 2k.

Jason stands up, checks the pot, checks his stack, sits back down, thinks for a while and eventually makes the call.

Robert shows Jc 10c

Jason has Ac A s and is relieved to take the pot.

Jack Hipkiss has put out 1625 of his remaining 8k stack on a board of 10c 8h 2d Ks

The pot is around 5k and Tony Trippier is in the tank and talking...lots...

Eventually, he talks himself into the fold and Jack significantly increases his stack.

On the table behind, I turn to see a three way all in:

Dwayne Stacey has Ah 9h and is at risk.
Jeffrey Hemmerman Kc Kh he has Dwayne covered but is still at risk.
Stuart Pillinger has them both covered but is way behind with Ks Jh

The flop comes over 6h 6c 7d

Jeffrey still miles ahead...

Turn is 8h giving Dwayne the flush draw...

10h on the river! Dwayne gets the triple up!

Jeffrey"s Kings still beat Stuart and Jeffrey gets just over 20k back from the side pot.

Another 3 way all in.

Paul Smith ships it all in pre with 6h 6d
Behind him, Stuart Pillinger moves all in over the top with Kh Qs
Michael Gale looks at his cards and figures it must be Christmas as he has Ah A s

No drama as the board comes down 8d 4c Jc Ad 9c and Michael ends Paul and Stuart"s tournaments.

Elsewhere, Micheal Dobbs, Jonathan Mellor and John Banks exit.

With a flop of 3c 9s 9c Laura Rhoden bets 700...out of turn! She is told that her bet stands and, for the rest of the hand, she loses her aggressive action - she may only call or fold...

Scott Berridge calls her bet and they check the 6s turn and 9d river and Scott wins with Ace high.

Laura reckons that she could have bet him off it...

Yes, if you speak about them unfavourably, you get a 1 orbit ban.

Who is stalking you anyway?

Adam Smith and Richard Baker hand me their player tracking cards at the same time.

When I asked Curly what happened, I got this:

"I lost"

So I asked again...I wish I hadn"t: "I had aces 3 of 4 hands. first two times everyone folded. 3rd time I get called by Queens and he hits a queen. I have some left, so I raise with 6c 7c. Flop comes down King, six, seven. I go all in and get called by the small blind who has King seven. The turn is a six so I make my house! River is a king. I lost"

Ouch.

7s Jd 8d 3d

Around 4.5k in the middle

3 players in.

There"s been some betting and Chris Webber has a bet of 2.8k in front of him.
Clare Duffy tanks and makes the call. That brings a fold from the 3rd player and Chris and Duffy go heads up to the river.

The river is 4h

Chris asks Duffy how much she has left, then announces all in.

Duffy thinks for a bit and then says "nope" and folds.

Chris shows me his cards...I"m not sure he wants me to record them...I"m not sure Duffy does either...
