Post by: Luthee13 on April 08, 2017, 11:53:01 AM
Welcome to Day 1 of World Championship Of Amateur Poker here at the Bury New Road Grosvenor Casino, Manchester.

With players in the 8-Game Players Championship Day 1 seated and ready, "Shuffle up and deal" has been heard for the first time of many over the next week or so.

As usual, Tom Brady and myself will be bringing you updates on here and Leigh Wiltshire will be providing the live stream throughout the week (technology permitting).

Matt Dale and Des Duffy will be joining us along the way and we are looking forward to a great time.

8 Game

JP Round looks to the updating table and does a double fist pump -

In the stud round, he is dealt 7d 8d 9d with the 9d up.

He gets dealt the 10d on 4th and completes the run with the Jd on 6th street!

He got paid a small amount from Ky Hutchinson.

We have our first casualty in the Irish, with Ger Smyth losing a "boat vs boat" contest.

Speaking of boats, coincidentally Pete Wigglesworth's (who is playing the 8-Max) brother in law took my "Ski Boat Driver Level 2" qualification (taught me to drive a ski/wakeboard boat) :)

Further details of Ger's exit: Ger's Pocket 33s saw a King 3 x board. Turn and river both Aces. Natalie Bromley had Ace-King to seal the deal.

Captain of the Polish team, Sebastian Mikolajczyk, has exited the Irish game in another boat vs boat encounter.

This time Seb holding 10 7, sees a board of 10 7 3 7. All the money goes in. Unfortunately for him, his opponent has pocket 10s.

Norbert shoves the 3d turn and is called by Kev.

Norbert has made his set holding 3s 3c

Norbert gets a small but much needed double.

Norbert calls pre flop from late position.

Natalie, in the small blind, asks what the max bet is pre flop - 1.6k

Norbert calls and the two see a flop Qc 8h 2s

Natalie bets out 3k and is quickly called by Norbert.

They discard two and the dealer turns the 7h

Natalie instantly moves all in and equally quickly, Norbert makes the call.

Natalie has Kd Kc
Norbert has 8c 8d

The river 9d doesn't help Natalie and she is out in 9th place.

Blinds currently 400/800

Jay makes it 2800 from the cut off and Norbert calls from the big blind

Norbert checks the 3h 7s 2d flop and Jay shoves all in for 4.4k

Norbert folds and Jay takes the pot.

-------

Warren this time, from the cut off, raises and takes it uncontested.

------

It folds to Norbert on the button who raises. Jay makes the call and after betting on a flop of Jd Qs 5c they end up all in with Jay at risk

Jay has Qh 9h and Norbert has Jh 5h

10c turn and 2h river.

Jay finishes in 5th place.

Norbert - 40k
Warren - 11k

-----

Chris raises and Norbert shows 6c 6s 6d 2d and decides to fold...

------

Norbert raises to 4600 and Warren moves all in again - the dealer is doing the maths, 7800 on top of the original bet so a valid all in.

Qc Ah 8s

Both discard 2 before revealing ther hands - Warren at risk.
Warren has to decide - straight draw or flush draw...he goes with 9h 10h

Norbert has A s Jh

7h on the turn increases his outs hugely.

Down to two tables and a new blind level - 1000/2000 with 300 ante.

On one table, Carl Harris' 6d 2d is more than good enough all in on a 4d 8d Kd flop as he is looked up by Dylan Heath with Ad A s and no extra diamond on turn or river so Carl doubles up.

On the other table, Alan Ellis' Ac 6d is not good enough to hold up against the Ad 8s of David Walker - especially after the 8 on the flop and Alan finishes in 12th place.

Andrew Duncan has finished in 9th place, falling at the 21st Level (stud). With the money all in the middle after 5th street, Andy's Kings were ahead of Michael's 8's. However, another 8 is immediately dealt on sixth street and the set of 8's remains good to scoop the pot and send Andy to the rail.

We are now playing 8 handed, one more to go until we reach the final table, returning tomorrow.
