Well done all, sounds like a big success!
-
Top updates from Caz & Ian & well done to the Irish team.
-
Thanks to everyone who participated in making the European Team Championship a huge success, played in a fantastic atmosphere. I include the staff and management of Grosvenor Casino in Brighton who put a great deal into the running of the event.
Congratulations especially to Len Collin and his barnstorming Irish team. They were the life and soul of the party and deserving winners amongst very tough competition throughout the weekend. It was great to see so many players travelling from all over Europe for the event, and we expect this tournament will grow and grow.
Thanks also to Ian, Leigh and especially Caroline for a sterling contribution in running the updates.
A complete set of pictures and a tournament report from the event will be published on Monday evening. The video diary of the weekend will be published later in the week. It contains some unmissable footage.... ;D
So that"s a wrap for Season Two. We hope to see you on the road again, from early in 2009.
Regards,
Des.

What a great weekend. Played in a fantastic spirit with very worthy winners. Caz did a fantastic job with updates, and we mustn"t forget the rest of her team, Ian and Des.
Well played everyone.
-
Myself and the Scottish skipper are sitting in an internet cafe in Brighton with the biggest hangover of all time after spending a night with the mad irish and some locals.
Congrats again to Ireland and well done to Gordon and Phil for scoring all the points. (but I did put everyone off their game with my superb strategy!)
Can"t believe the English team wouldn"t take us on again in the cash game. However the blind all-in sit&go with the locals did prove profitable.
-
Congratulations to Ireland and well done to Micky, Phil, Gordon & Mary from all in Scotland. Excellent choices Stuart and hopefully we can go one better next year 8)
-
Congratulations to Ireland, The Mighty Scots and Germany for taking the places.
This event was one of the wildest, most enjoyable events I"ve been to - great banter and friendly rivalry.
Great work by Caz doing the forum updates and video updates with Des - not bad for somebody who was only wanting to watch the action and do a little socialising. I do hope Des posts some of the outakes, especially the final wrap up piece. ;D
Thanks to Leigh for helping out with the updates on day 2, it was getting a little frantic at times.
Just one thing for next year - the Scottish team (and myself) really need singing lessons, the impromptu rendition of "Flower of Scotland" was a little painful...... ;D
-
Final Positions and points are;
Scotland 51
England 26
Congratulations to Ireland, Scotland and Germany.
Well done to all those who participated ;D
Well done the Scottish team on an excellent second place and in bagging almost double the points of our neighbours in the south. ;D
-
Sounds like it was a storming weekend. Well done the Irish for the win and Scotland for worthy runners up. Great updates you guys, well done.
-
What a fantastic weekend!!!!
Des, it just keeps getting better and better, well done once again mate on an other huge success for APAT.
Caz, Ian and Leigh you all did a great job and much deserved thanks go to you all.
Congratulations to Len, Colin, Brendan, Jon and "All-in" Pat. You all have that great ability to not only take everyones chips but also make them smile as you do it.
Well done Gordon, Phil and Micky. You all did Scotland and APAT proud. Silver was a great result, particularly after our Day1 position. We also had a great fun and made some new friends along the way.
Mary - Sorry you couldn"t be with us, our thoughts were, and are, with you.
Well done also to all the other teams who participated. The APAT spirit was kept very much alive throughout and I for one haven"t experienced poker quite like it anywhere else.
Hopefully see you all next year.

I"m pulling together the video at the moment and if it gets past my wife; the censor, then it"ll highlight a lot of moves never seen at an APAT before. ;D

Hi All
Just home after a storming weekend of typical APAT fare, some top class competitive poker, craic and camaraderie that you just couldn"t buy any place.
A big thank you to Des, Caz and Ian for another fantastically well run event. Though highly competitive, It was such a fun event to participate in.
To everyone involved in whatever role, it was both an honour and a privilege to share your company this past weekend.
Thanks and hope to see you all soon
Brendan

The pictures and tournament report have been publised and the links can be found via the lead article on the home page: www.apat.com.

And it didn"t finish there as Pat and I bumped into Micky P at the Airport, we hung around at the entrance to the pub and sure enough we found him.
Then on the plane Pat and I got entertained by a 40 yr old lesbian who"s partner was looking for men to shag so she could have a baby. I am not making this up!
Des - A great weekend. Congrats to all concerned - Caz, Ian , Leigh - staff at the Grovesnor All the team Captains, all the teams - especially the Scots - and all my players Pat, Brendan, Colin and John. Thank you to everyone who supported the Irish team. To Paddy Power Poker for sponsoring our flights and accommodation. To Blue Sq for supporting APAT. And to all the forum members supporting the event and APAT.
I will have an article up on my blog and a separate one on the Paddy Power site. CaedPlayer Europe will also be giving us a mention.
Well done to everyone.
Now where"s the bar?
-
Thanks to everyone who made this event so enjoyable. I meet the Hungarian team on the train to Gatwick and they still had smiles on their faces. They hope to play future APAT events. Please let me explain why there were only 3 Irish players at the final table. MickyP had me laughing so hard I couldn"t see my cards for the tears in my eyes. ;D

Congratulations to Ireland on taking 1st place vvwd indeed!
Woot get in Scotland on taking 2nd, darn proud of u guys!!
Sorry I wasnt able to play, my 7yr old son, who is a haemophiliac, fell a beauty on Friday afternoon and hurt himself badly which resulted in a mad dash to hospital, an overnight stay and now treatment all week to stop the internal bleed in his knee joint. Gutted I couldnt play, sorry I let you guys down, but im sure you understand.
Thanks Stuart n all for the warm messages of support :)
Once again, looked a blast and well done all.
-
I would like to add my congratulations to the Irish, Scottish, and German Teams for their great performance over the weekend.
For me, the real winner was the APAT spirit, it was a privilege to participate in an event that was so well organised and where everyone was there to play good poker in such a good-natured manner.
As I said in my interview with Des, everytime I play in a live tournament I learn something new about the game. Some of the interesting things I learned over the weekend were:
It takes more than 6 pints of Lager and 6 shots of Tequila to nobble a Scotsman before a heads- up match (well done Gordon - I was well impressed with your blind blind calling)
I am not on the Hungarian team"s Christmas card list after my lucky hand, J7s turned into a straight, and allowed me to go on to win my first match.
I am not on the French Team"s Christmas card list as I beat them in the heads-up and knocked out their players twice, to prevent them getting the points to take them into the medals (Thanks for a great head-up game Franck).
The APAT spirit was strong enough for my teammates to forgive me for the terrible, terrible call I made with A9s
If Des really does show an un-edited version of the last 5 hands of the tournament, no-one will ever look 7-2 offsuit the same way ever again!
I look forward to seeing Wales" next video extravaganza!
Great Dealers, Great Food (Loved the profiteroles), Great Time.
Thank you APAT

A thank you to Des and the whole APAT team it was a great weekend. Fabulous meeting all the players and a great atmosphere - Alan we missed you, and the poor guys had to put up with me instead! Well played to all that competed.
Many congratulations to Ireland very well played and Scotland, coming back all that way from the first day was brilliant. My chips definitely helped you there - Gordon is definitely my nemisis can"t beat him in a hand ever!
Micky P - sorry didn"t have any money left for the cash games the locals took it all in 10 mins on the cash tables..... story of my day! out 1st in MTT, approx 7 hours standing around willing on the England team, need to play some Poker - get to the cash table and its dealers choice, mostly Omaha
- fold first three hands - get KK +2 cards (double suited and connected) - get my money in to find another player has AA... and they hold
- buy in again, before the money gets to the table on the very next hand I got AA +2 cards (again connected but only one Ace suited), raise early table, then a couple of flat callers - need to thin the field so as its "pot limit" make a pot bet, get one caller, flop gives me straight and flush possibilities, guy raises to call makes me pot committed so I push and he calls, he"s flopped trip KKs and I have lost my money before it get to the table!
Definitely not my day for poker - so sorry Micky the money you won was what they"d won off me to start with! and I had none left for you guys to take :"(,
Definitely looking forward to this again next year, if I get picked of course.
See you all on the poker tables be they virtual or live.
-
And it didn"t finish there as Pat and I bumped into Micky P at the Airport, we hung around at the entrance to the pub and sure enough we found him.
Now why am I not surprised by that? ;D
-
Best chat-up line I"ve heard in ages was this weekend. I will not name the guilty party but by all means PM with your guesses.
"Do you want to come back to my room for some heads-up action"
-
It wouldn"t be the same "gentleman" who tried to give Silke his room key would it ? ;D
She only wanted to swap shirts :o
-
Congrats from the German Team to Ireland! You deserved to win this thing!
We enjoyed the Team Championship very much. It has really been a pleasure to play some poker with you guys.
Unfortunately we got some beats in the STT"s, but in the end we reached a very good third place. Maybe we will be a bit luckier next year...
Thanks to Des and his team for the perfect organisation! Great Job!
-
Well just about recovered from a great weekend in Brighton.
Firstly congratulations to the Irish, well deserved winners.
Secondly, well done to all involved in organising the event. Des, Ian, Caz, Leigh you did APAT proud and thanks have to go to the Grosvenor Casino Brighton, for a smoothly ran event.
Thirdly, well played my fellow team mates, it was an honour to play with you and I think you all played great.
Fourthly, great to meet all the players from the other countries and the whole event was played in great APAT spirit.
Finally, my commiserations to the poor english team. Aye right, lol, get it right up ye!!!!
-
On behalf of all French team members and supporters that followed us at the casino and online, I want to warmly congratulate the Irish team for winning the championship, the Scots for their wonderful spirit and singing and the German for taking a deserved 3rd place.
It"s been a fantastic week end, thank you Des, Apat admins for great updates and organisation, all the teams, Grosvenor and Bluesquare for making it happen. What an atmosphere! We loved it!
