To that post I would normally respond with two very brief words, but seeing is that this is APAT I will have to refrain. Goodison was bulging at the seams last night and we deserved the points against a rudderless Chelsea, just wait until we get Millions, and then we can buy our way further up the league! Just like our neighbours! Whats the expression .... oh yes "All koppites are gobXXXXXs" :D

Thanks for the Christmas wishes Brian. They are of course reciprocated and well done on the three points. I fortunately stayed at home and watched the horror unfold on the tele.

As for the richest club in the world...where do you begin???

Only Manchester City could have such funds and find a team capable of taking the Championship by storm next season.

This is the team that in their history have won the league and then got relegated the following season. They are also unique in being the only club to score and concede 100 goals in a league season.

So having the most expensive squad in the history of the Championship is not beyond us.

Hope to catch up with you in the new year. Have a good one

LOL good reply !
always guarantee a bite off the blues, all that pent up disappointment! seriously though in a way i wish we  wasnt  so succesful might have a chance of a season ticket only been on waiting list for 10 years or so!
The one thing i jealous about everton is mainly scoucers and no glory fans!
But still what a waste of a great manager (that is not a dig by the way , he desrves support of board)
Bring ont the derby another easy 3 points !!

Don"t need fowards lol lol .. Fellaini will be a miss but no doubt DM will have a cunning plan. ;D
The mighty Arteta nails his free kick to send those tigers from Hull back home full of joy lol lol..So the 4-6-0 formation works again,we have got 3 easy fixtures next Liverpool Liverpool Man Utd,meh easy peasy .. Rafa is losing the mind games war with Ferguson so he might start making his usual gr8 squad changes to the 1st team and the red wheels will drop off lmao ::) reminds me of Keegan back when Newcastle were top,oh happy days if the over confident reds start fLoudering  ;D May it please start against Stoke tonight,go go Delap..

Rafael Benitez: "Our new Winger cost five million. I call him our wonder player"
Sir Alex Ferguson: "Why"s that?"
Rafael Benitez: "Everytime he plays I wonder why I bothered to buy him!"

Q: Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, an intelligent Liverpool supporter and an old drunk are walking down the street together when simultaneously they each spot a fifty quid note. Who gets it?
A: The old drunk, of course - the other 3 are mythical creatures.

A father and son were eating breakfast. The fathers newspaper had the headline "Van Gogh sold for £8 million".
The son asked "is he worth it, Dad?", to which the father, surprised at his son"s interest in fine art, replied "I suppose so, son. Why do you ask?"
The son said "Well, Liverpool paid more than that for Stan Collymore, and he was crap"

Newsflash: Thieves broke into the home of a Liverpool fan and stole two books. "The thing that upsets me", he said "is that I hadn"t finished colouring them in yet!"

On a rare day off [not in hospital  ;D], Rafa Benitez was cleaning out his cellar when he came across an old vase. Thinking it was valuable he rubbed it to clean off the dust. To his surprise out popped a Genie who said, "Oh master, I grant you one wish."
Rather surprised,Rafa thought for a while before replying, "Hhmmm. I know! Since I like going to Spain to find young players I would like you to build a bridge from Liverpool to Spain since I don't like flying and the trains are unreliable - this way I could drive."
"Oh no master," responded the Genie, "that is an impossible request, it would take the will of a thousand genies to grant you that wish - you must choose a task I can grant you."
Rafa mumbled under his breath for a bit before saying, "I have a player in my team who should score more goals, can you make Robbie Keane into a 20 goals a season player?"
To which the Genie replied, "OK, what colour lights do you want on your bridge."

Officials of Iraq have claimed that Saddam Hussein hasn"t been killed and is still alive by showing the leader giving an interview which was said to be live...
He said "To prove I am still alive, Liverpool were total sh**e on Saturday."
The British Government said, "That could have been recorded months ago."  ;D

Rafa Benitez has this morning explained why he continues to play the rotation system. He says it's the keep the burglars guessing, who's at home or who's in the team.

How do you confuse a Liverpool fan?
Ask him directions to Anfield.

What does a Liverpool fan do after watching his team win the Premiership?
Turns his Playstation off and gets off to court for his burglary charges.

here"s a good joke !!
Jamie Carragher.

Half way through his hanging upside down "stunt", David Blaine has revealed what possessed him to do it. Apparently it was because his record for hanging around in a box doing nothing has been broken by Robbie Keane.

There is a massive tailback on the M6 and a lorry driver caught up in it asks a man, who happens to be walking along the line of traffic, "what the hell is going on?"
The man replies, "haven"t you heard? Terrorists have captured the bus carrying the liverpool team and are threatening to torch the bus if their demands aren"t met. So I"ve organized a whip-round."
"How much is everyone giving?" askes the lorry driver.
"About a gallon each," replies the man.

A woman goes to the Doctor desperately begging for help. She tells the doctor my donkey talks. She pulls down her knickers and her donkey says `Liverpool are going to win the premiership`
The Doctor sits back and replies `Im afraid we are in the middle of an epidemic. Lots of c**t s have started talking like this`

Bill Shankly quote - ""If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing.""

no offence intended as could apply to a everton fan but it stills make me chuckle..

Two boys are playing football in the park when one of them is attacked by a rottweiler. Thinking quickly, his friend rips a plank of wood from a fence, forces it into the dog's collar and twists it, breaking the dog's neck. All the while, a newspaper reporter who was taking a stroll through the park is watching. He rushes over, introduces himself and takes out his pad and pencil to start his story for the next edition.
He writes, "Manchester City fan saves friend from vicious animal."
The boy interrupts: "But I'm not a City fan."
The reporter starts again: "Manchester United fan saves friend from horrific attack."
The boy interrupts again: "I'm not a United fan either."
The reporter asks: "Who do you support, then?"
"Liverpool," replies the boy.
The headline the next day: "Scouse b*****d kills family pet"

Steve Gerrard is celebrating; "43 days, 43 days!" he shouts happilly. Alex Curran asks him why hes celebrating.
He answers "Well Honey, I've done this jigsaw in only 43 days."
"And that's good?" asks Alex
"You bet Hon" says Steve."It says 3 to 6 years on the box."

A young lad asks his mum where his new liverpool top is.
"I washed it and it"s drying on the line."
The young lad rushes to the window to see his beloved liverpool top lying in the mud.
"Mum, why is my liverpool top in the mud?"
His mum looks out of the window and shouts, "the thieving gits have nicked the pegs again!"

meh mikey might just be showing his age as kirkby only joined the newly created Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley in 1974.

Kirkby is kirkby in my eyes and since it has been around as long as liverpool practically,
supposed to been around since 870 A.D, it is a tad older than knowsley ..

Whats the difference between a Mini and Torres?
A Mini only carries 4 passengers.lol lol lol  ;D

[youtube=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPrUjSrwvkc[/youtube]

A teacher starts a new job at a primary school on Merseyside and, trying to make a good impression on her first day, explains to her class that she"s a big football fan and supports liverpool. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are liverpool fans.
Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says: "Mary, why didn"t you raise your hand?"
"Because I"m not a liverpool fan miss," she replies. The teacher, still shocked asks:"Well, if your not a liverpool Fan, then who are you a fan of?"
"I"m a West Ham fan, and proud of it," Mary replies. The teacher can"t believe her ears. "Mary, how come you"re a Hammers fan?"
"Because my mum and dad are from London"s East End and are West Ham fans, so I"m a West Ham fan too!"
"Still," says the teacher, annoyed, "that"s no reason for you to be a West Ham fan as well. You don"t have to be like your parents all the time, do you? What if your mum was a prostitute and your dad was a drug addict and car thief. Would you be like them then?"
"No," smiles Mary, "I"d be a liverpool fan."

I was trying to be clever and get one over on him, but didn"t manage it, so I will give him that one. But thats the only one he is  ;)going to win this week! ;)

i just love derby days....lots and lots of good memories...the " friendly" derby!!

only time i have ever since trouble at anfield (exluding the mancs of course)

and the onlytime i have spilt with a girlfriend because of football...

in case your wondering......she was a blue nose..we "d been together for 4 years..both season ticket holders at respective clubs...(weekends where funny, as we"d share what happened at night on the saturday, and just didn"t speak if we played each other.

well one time she went too far....we lost 2-1 at Anfield, Andrie Konchelshev (or wotever) scored both, train on the way home was unbearable,,,she moved out on the wednesday

Title: Re: singing the blues
Post by: Mikeyboy9361 on January 13, 2009, 13:43:06 PM
LOL. It may be once was the "friendly derby" but not any more the hostility between fans is pretty scary to be honest, the last 2 derbies at Goodison, have gone against us, and for some reason the clubs think segregation is not necessary for this game. But ask the smattering of Liverpool fans around us if they felt safe, I personally saw to guys get clouted, the offenders then promptly got up and left before the stewards could do anything!
Civilised people can enjoy the game for what it is and take the banter that goes along with it, but this game seems to have become more significant over the years in respect of bragging rights, and the atmosphere can be very unpleasant.
The Glenn Dimplex group have a factory in Prescott, and if one or the other team wins, then they have 50% absenteeism the next day!!
Title: Re: singing the blues
Post by: kinboshi on January 13, 2009, 14:53:34 PM
The derby"s changed a great deal in my lifetime.  It used to be a friendly, and yet fiercely competitive rivalry.  Now, there is a nasty element to it, and it"s a bit sad really.  There are all sorts of reasons, bitterness towards Liverpool about Heysel, a change in the mentality of "fans" of many clubs (including Liverpool and Everton), maybe even a change in society in general.

I"m also a big rugby league fan.  The atmosphere at the grounds is top draw, friendly, never any trouble, mixing in the pubs before and after, families sitting together.

Or should I say WAS.  It"s changing, and not for the better.  Getting to be like football, and I"ve seen elements of trouble (a very small minority, but there nevertheless).  You can still drink at your seat whilst you watch the game, and I"ve never felt "scared" or intimidated at a match.  It"d be a shame if rugby league deteriorated any further down this route.

Anyway, back to the weekend.  Predictions?

i get fed up with hearing about people saying rafa should go..absurd.  We didn"t play well at all, never winning the 2nd ball, and giving you too much space when we went 1-0 up.  Stupid foul by beni (i screamed at him to "stand up") I just knew he"d give a foul, and that you"d score.  Didn"t play well enough to win. end of.

Exactly.

Those that call radio & TV phone ins aren"t representative of the fans in general.  Which is why I never listen to 606 on 5live, or any of the phone in shows on telly.

Liverpool were dire, and we nearly won.  This is how we"ve been playing for a lot of the season - but earlier we were scoring the late goal to win - when it could have been a draw (game against Stoke at Anfield being the exception).  Now we"re managing to draw games we should be winning.  It"s the opposite of what manu have done this season.

manu are in the driving seat, but the title isn"t won or lost in January.  If you"d told me at the start of the season that we"d be level on points / three points behind manu at the top of the league - I"d have taken that in an insta.

Gerrard has been off form for a while now (wonder goals notwithstanding), and Torres is back from a long injury (what a miss though!).

The hard work begins now, and revenge starts on Sunday :D

Okay, at half time I was thinking my prediction was going to be nailed on, but Stevie G did it again, with a little help from Tim Howard, but then he did re deem himself a few times later in the game.
I only saw the high lights on ITV, I don"t have Setanta, but it looked and sounded (5 live) that we got battered, so I will settle for the draw. Can"t get to the replay cos away on business, but I will catch it in Dublin hopefully.
My prediction Everton 2 Liverpool 1.

i think i"ll be singing the blues after today as i have just placed a little wager on 1 horse in each race at Lingfield today using nick mordins speed ratings and with a slight tweak by me  ;D so if you feel like losing a few quid you wont go far wrong than by following my selections...I DO LIKE A E/W LONG SHOT ::)

LINGFIELD (AW)
12:40 1m 4f - Rock Peak
13:10 1m 4f - Turner"s Touch
13:40 1m 2f - Bomber Brown [should be short,not much value here,poor race]
14:10 1m - The Wily Woodcock [spotlight has tipped him , kiss of death that]
14:45 7f - My Sweet Georgia [claimer , say no more]
15:20 2m - Mulaazem [should be a good price,spotlight writes it off ;D]
15:55 6f - Inka Dancer [long lay off but well in and a good price to be had]
16:30 6f - Rocoppelia [complete donkey outsider,probably from skegness]

well that should lose me a few quid today...

My Sweet Georgia - 2nd 8/1 nearly worked although i was each way at 12/1 so not to bad,Turners Touch was 3rd at 8/1 i had 10"s e/w - the rest ""what a load of ####""

c"mon Mulaazem  ;D i"m up slightly so i may go for the bra on head approach as Mulaazem is a stretch of the imagination in this one lol lol i think it may need performance enhancers  ;D

edit 15.31 - 4th 25/1 of 14 runners  dohhhh

Inka Dancer never got in it  :"( so it was on the last race...

11/2 - 1st    weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
11/2
6
13/2
6
7
8
9
10
12
14 - price i took weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Rocoppelia got backed down something wicked and won quite coyly with a bit in hand,TY TY Betfred for your generous opening odds this morning...
2nd 12"s 3rd 10"s and a 1st 14"s all e/w Bomber Brown the only win bet i had on lost as a odds on cert  lmao luckily i did not put a lot on,but a profitable day has been had yippee
so my longshot value approach pays off today hmmmm i may have to look at saturdays card  ;D

Man City did well today against 10 men today , sign of a good team that. ;D i wonder if Kaka regrets not going?

anyhows less of the jibes we"ll probably get stuffed today so i best shut up  :-[

got 2 longshots today both at Lingfield,so please feel free to lose your money :o

15:55 - Maslak e/w for me,should be the rank outsider
16:25 - Cantabilly e/w again should be around the rank outsider but snippets of form give him a chance and if its a strong pace early on from Annabelle"s Charm,Summer Winds and Action Impact which it may well be as these 3 like to front run then this donkey has that bit stamina for the last furlong to pick them off..

Right Mr Noble,

Stick to the poker strategy and stop posting horse racing tips, because you are much better at your poker stuff than you are with the horses.

And Neil and I can"t afford to keep following your tips, waiting for one to pay off.   ;D

then i suggest you should have a proper betting bank and bet strategy lol lol  ;D

looking forward to tonight oh my humble red fans? i see Rafa has pulled a masterstroke
and sold keano lol should be interesting when the nippy spainish kiddy pulls his hamstring again i"m sure there is an abundance of striking talent biting at the bit to score the goals to help the reds win the title..... ;D

i went to a poker home game of a friend of mine last night [along with laptop so i could play online at the same time lol lol] and they discussed/argued lol lol about beckham? why? forgetting all the jealous overseers and journalists who want to have a dig at him,the fact the 2 best managers in world football plus sven  ;D [he did have a good club record] rate him and everyone that has played/plays with him
rate him up there with the best..then why question if he should be playing for england? i"m sure SWP bentley lennon are for the future? after all SWP really lit up chelsea and the other 2 are great for keeping harrys seat on the bench warm lol lol
and young theo and J cole are injured .. boy oh boy we have so many great options for right midfield  ;D

a quick look at some [and i mean just some] of DB"s assists let alone the free kicks scored and goals in open play..

He"s not the player he was, but he"s still a great option to have on the right. He puts a better cross over than SWP, Lennon, Walcott and probably Bentley too. He cant get past full backs, but never has been able to. At international level SWP and Lennon struggle to get past pacey full backs and when they do, the final ball is rarely testing enough. He has proven EVERY manager who has written him off that he is worth his place in any team. His attitude is first class and he never acts the prima dona. he would happily go to the world cup, sit on the bench and not play a minute if he could see that the team is winning. A credit to his profession and I hope he becomes Englands most capped outfield player.

Great clip noble, they managed to not include any assists against City (oh yes we weren"t in the prem in those days)

Quite simply though, he shouldn"t have played for England whilst he was messing about at LA Galaxy.  The standard isn"t high enough, and there"s also the flights to take into account.

No he"s at Milan, if he"s playing well enough, he gets into the side. Simple as.

The question is, would you have him in your side, and the answer is a massive YES. Even if it is just to come off the bench, and provide those fantastic crosses, just think how many goals Bob Latchford would have scored if he"d have had Becks as his supply line :)

Was this game ever going to be a thing of beauty? I think not. Blood and thunder Derby it was always going to be and thats what it was. Liverpool had the better of the first half, and of course we cheered when Gerrard went off, he"s Liverpools best player, who wouldn"t want to play "em without him in the side.
Lucas" first card was harsh, but the second was nailed on and he was walking, after that it was all Everton, which is strange cos very often the 10 man team raises it work rate to compensate for their loss. This didn"t happen with the reds, and it was up to us to grab the goal, cos we were defo going to lose a shoot out! Credit Moyes with his substitutions, we don"t have a million ££ bench we have kids! And they rewarded Moyes" confidence in them. Come on you Blues!! :D

What"s the difference between a lift and City?
A lift doesn"t take 9 months to go down........... :-*

A new Man City Oxo cube is about to be introduced. It"ll be called "laughing stock".

The announcer says that City have lost 3-0 and the dog immediately rolls over on its back, sticks its paws in the air and plays dead.
"That"s amazing," says the barman. "What does he do when they win?"
The City Fan scratches his head for a couple of minutes and finally replies: "I dunno.... I"ve only had the dog for eight months."

Q. How do you know if your newspaper is upside down?
A. Manchester City are top of the table!

NEWSFLASH ROBBERY!

Late last night thieves broke into Maine Road and stole the entire contents of Manchester City"s trophy room. Police are looking for two men carrying a light blue carpet.

Rafa benitez is driving past david moyes, who is walking down the street with a bag of potatoes on his bag.

"Hi Dave, what are you doing with the spuds"

lol lol n1 i had to chuckle [potatoes are expensive]

Mark Hughes was getting worried that all his players were hopeless, so he phoned up a decent manager to ask for advice. David Moyes explained that he got all the Everton players to dribble round cones, thus improving their close ball control. He suggested Mark try this. Two weeks later, David rang back to see how the Man City players were coping with the new system. When he answered the phone
though Hughes was still browned off.

"Didn"t my suggestion work?" Asked Moyes.
"Bloody cones! They beat us 3-0" muttered Hughes   ;D

Well i have just finished reading a fascinating thread which has been locked off by Des..just when it was getting interesting and i didnt muck in with any jokes or quips..i must be getting soft as i wanted Liverpool to win secretly, but do not despair my red friends you have 1 leg to go and 1 certain Stevie G who seems to make a habit of producing big performances in that red shirt when all seems lost..so it may be premature to write the Red #h#t off just yet..
I will add there are not many fans who sing there hearts out towards the end of a game when it has been such a disappointing night for them but i dare say the blue half of mersey might mention the result at work tomorrow.. ::)

Good luck to city thursday night against the mighty hamburgers lets hope city discover that the round thing has to go in the onion bag thing of the opposition in order to win.. i wont crack any trophy room jokes just yet Rob  ;D

wp Everton.

I thought we got exactly what we deserved from today"s game.  It really disappoints me that Fergie puts out a team like that in an FA Cup semi final.  I think it shows a greater lack of respect for the tournament than any of the abuse the club took in 2000 when we didn"t take part.

Should it have been a penalty or not ?

Doesn"t matter, if you are relying on marginal decisions to win games of football, then you are doing something wrong.  How you can leave the likes of van de Sar, Carrick, Ronaldo, Rooney from even traveliing to the game ???????

We looked solid at the back, although the Brazilian twins really need to learn some positional play, but upfront, we just lacked any real bite to break down a solid and good Everton defence.

Never been so disappointed for ages over an United defeat.

The question is did Fergie get the team selection wrong ?

Well, we won"t know the full answer to that for a bit.  If we thump Pompey midweek, get some momentum back and win the Premiership and Champs League, then maybe this selection is forgiven.

And I don"t really want to contemplate any other scenarios.   ;D

Take nothing away from Everton.  I thought Jagielka and Lescott were awesome today and if Saha could find a bit of form to give you something more upfront, it should make for a great cup final at the end of May.

after dancing around the living room with the bloody dogs going bonkers cause i"m screaming Jaggers Jaggers..2 fellow blue mates spraying beer over each other and 3 rather sheepish looking utd scum friends ;D reluctantly pulling £10 notes out of there pockets for foolishly ::) backing there team i am looking forward to a well deserved All blue FA final appearance ..
Congratulatins are in order for DM who got his tactics spot on yet again and the kid Rodwell impressed me yet again.I had to feel for Tim C for the 1st shocker but i thought Berbatov gets the award for bottling it. ;D and Howard without doubt was swearing like a trooper inbetween the sticks as each utd player stepped up to take there pens..well done TH....

Got back from Wembley at quarter to twelve last night. What a great day!! The sun shone, a few beers before the game at the bottom of Wembley (Olympic?) way, with thousands of rowdy Blues, a few impromptu games of street football, and loads of good natured banter.
The game flew past in a blur, and I know it wasn"t a great spectacle for the neutral, but oh those penalties!! We have a shocking record in shoot outs and I never thought we were going to win, and after Cahills miss...... Step up Tim Howard, what a hero, and then the rest of the boys stepped up and did the business, fantastic!
The atmosphere was amazing, the blues sang their hearts out, and drowned out the United fans, were they there, well I know they were, I could see them, but certainly couldn"t here "em!
Okay United fielded an under strength team, do I care? Not one bit, we have beaten Liverpool, Villa, and now United and deserve our day in the spotlight. Lets hope we can finish it off on the 30th May.
And Kinboshi cheered for Everton! It doesn"t get any better, Come On You Blues!!! :D ;D :D ;D :D
