Trying to get in Early for Season 4 Here (Betfair ID is AAroddersAA).
Are people still playing for Swansea this season (first game is only two weeks away). I want to play for Swansea this year as I moved here from Newport, which meant I had to register for that other Welsh poker club. Luckily my Blue Square account broke so I couldn"t play for them. My Betfair account is fine though so can I transfer to Swansea please :-)

Hey everyone. Just registered on Betfair and my alias is Thighs.
Are the tournaments available to register already like bluesquare, because i cannot seem to find it under the sattellites tab? Also anyone know when the passwords are issued?

Hi Chris
Yes the tournaments are available to register now. It is not under the sattellites tab though. Just go into the all tab and they are listed in there. The name of the tournament on the Betfair lobby is "APAT Online League Div 3 - Round One #359394"
If you have any problems finding post a reply and somebody will help.
For the password see the thread below.

Yes it"s League three, and that ain"t going to change unless we get some people signed up for the tournament!!! So get onto Betfair and register yourself for it. So far we only have two people registered. Although there are on 12 registered in total. We needs to try and get off to a good start so should all try and play the first game if we can.

Already signed up for Swans from last year.... can you sign me up again please.... unfortunately I probably wont be able to play very often as I"ll be working most sunday evenings... but if not i"ll be playing

Hi all, i have just joined this site and would like to know if i"m too late to enter the league with you guys?
Secondly, did anyone fill the Swansea Captain position?
Thanks
-
Will make an effort to play a few of these this season. Betfair made me change my userid it is now _AAroddersAA.
I kind of lost interest in the first half of this season, as I was often away on Sundays so not able to play. As I now have mobile broadband for my laptop I should be able to play even if I am not at home.
I will be happy if Swansea finish...... not bottom.
-
Hi everyone,
I"ve put my name forward for the Swansea Captain Vacancy but nothing has been decided yet.
My poker alias is Nemisiss9 (Betfair) Stormpetrel (forum ID).
I"ll be playing in as many league games as I can (all I hope!)
It would be great if more players could find the time to participate in these games and help Swansea in the league. The first game is Sunday and it would be brilliant if Swansea could make a good start but this won"t be possible unless more people play, so please spare the time if you can.

This - I am going to be playing tomorrow Stormpetrel. Not Hopeful of a great Swansea turnout (nobody at Aspers seems to know what APAT is) but you never know.
-
Thanks AAroddersAA for playing tomorrow. Two Swansea players are better than one and maybe more will play!
I"m proud to say that I"ve been accepted as Swansea Captain, I"m fully committed to Swansea and I will do my best.
Good Luck for tomorrow!
-
Congratulations Allyson and good luck to you and Rod. Hopefully you can get a few more players. Have you tried mentioning it on facebook or putting a post up on some other forums? I"ve posted on AWOP, PokerPlayer, EatMyStack, Punters Lounge & Betfair - they don"t mind.
-
Thank you. I"m very proud to be Swansea Captain. I hope we can get some more players together, Thanks for your advice I"ll certainly give it a try.
Best Wishes
Allyson

Excellent news - well done.
There are one or two people I know who I might be able to convince to play. I reckon just getting off the bottom would be a good place to start *lol*
-
Thanks. Good luck trying to convince people to play.
I"ll try putting up posts in facebook and other forums, it might get some people interested in playing. Anything"s worth a try!
-
*sigh*
Can"t make this one tonight. Having to be somewhere else for work purposes. Was hoping to aviod it but it was either this weekend or next weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Ok. Hope you get good luck next weekend.

Defintely. Do you go to many live events? I can"t place who you are *lol* Most likely because before this year I never had the time to get to the live events myself !!!!!!!
-
I haven"t done that many live events. Just a few local ones at Aspers and Swansea Grosvenor. I did the APAT Welsh Championship in March but had a very early exit, Hope I do better this time!
-
Well done Steven for winning silver in the Main Event. You were awesome, Sorry I missed you at DTD. Congratulations and best wishes. Allyson
-
Allyson, thank you very much. The support of the people at the venue and on the forum was the best part of the run that in the end came up just short, I ran good there is no question of that and was not really good enough right at the end (was to tight when it got 4 way). I will be doing my homework to give myself the best chance of another final table in Dublin this month, whilst I can"t really expect that if it did happen I want to improve my performance. Sorry for missing you at DTD will you get to another live APAT this year?
I am also registered and ready to go for this Sundays league game. Looking forward to it.
-
Absolutely fantastic performance Steve, I didn"t actually meet you properly at DTD but I imagine you were one of the few lucky ones to escape me ;)
You played a great game that I saw and you and Ben can both be proud of your achievement.................. Just another Wales takeover. Good Job and represented the 3rd division in grand style.
GL and see you on the felt on Sunday
Ian
-
You are too modest Steven, you were brilliant. Best of luck for Dublin, I hope to play the European event in Coventry next. Good luck for Sunday and thanks for playing, I haven"t registered yet but I"ll be there, I can"t wait to play ;D

Hi all,
I"ve recently moved to Carmarthen and should be able to able to play a lot of the league games, having just spotted them on Betfair. This weekend might be a bit difficult - moving house - but with any luck I should be able to play.

YAY - Welcome to Swansea Mike. Allyson will have to do without you this weekend I guess but she always wins (2/2 this league) so don"t worry about that. If you could just get some places as well in later games that would be great. I"ll just carry on being value in the game *lol*
-
Hi Mike, Welcome to Swansea Hooray! Don"t worry about playing tonight if you can"t make it, if you can play any League games that"s great. See you on Betfair whenever you can play, my Betfair alias is Nemisiss9. Good Luck and thanks for joining :) Allyson
-
Good Luck for tonight Steven and thanks for playing. Swansea members are starting to increase now big time ;D lol Allyson
-
Congratulations guys you gave a fantastic performance last night. Sorry I didn"t make it to the final table but you played so well you didn"t need me! Thanks to your efforts Swansea gained a massive three points ;D amazing result.
Swansea are now top of the League with North London on six points :) Well done Mike for winning your first League game! I"m so glad you were able to play lol and well done Steven for finishing eighth and helping to secure those vital match points. Thanks you both so much for playing, See you for the next game I hope :)
-
Top stuff from both of you so far. I am not starting to think Swansea might be able to do something this year which would be great. I will try and match the performances you guy"s have put in at some point this season as well *lol*
Lets gogogo

A great start to your APAT journey, your use of the big stack on the FT was a joy even from my perspective. Good luck with the rest of the season Mike and well done Steve on your result here and that little affair last week and Allyson very well played every week so far.
Be lucky unless up against me
Ian

Thanks for all the congrats guys, to be honest I had a great run of cards in the mid-stages to get to about 20k chips (around the time that Stephen went out - having KK vs QQ in particular vs one of the other larger stacks) and it put me in a great position to really abuse the cash-bubble, I must"ve raised every other hand and had over half the chips in play by the time we were in the money! After that it was just a case of not making big mistakes and beating up anyone that looked like they might try and compete for the win...
Anyway, I really enjoyed it and let"s see if we can extend the lead at the top of the table - Stephen, your turn to run good and win the next one!
Cheers,
Mike
-
We are all playing tonight so lets get another result. Three on the final table, it can be done girls and boys :-)
You two both playing Luton?
-
Sorry guy"s couldn"t get it done and went out third. Misplayed the last hand when I had the AA.
-
Well done guys for making the final table again. We didn"t have the best of luck, next time we"ll be more lucky I hope! I might even make it myself to the final table ;D Congrats Steven on coming third you were so unlucky to go out :( I won"t be going to Luton, GL if your going and for Dublin :) Allyson

Thanks. I could have played it different (probably better tbh) but he was not meant to check the flop *lol*. I will be playing both Dublin and Luton yes, I need a good result to put the pressure on Jack and Darren at the top of the rankings. Thought you said you were playing in Luton, was it Coventry?
I am guessing you will be back on the final table pretty soon, we now have the start of a pretty good team just need more players which we will all keep working on I am sure. Until the next one - good lcuk at the tables.
-
unlucky Steven for your 3rd, if i"d managed to dodge a different set of bullets and not crashed out 10th we"d probably have got some points for swansea from the night. Allyson, couple of unlucky hands to send you out too - ah well, next time we"ll get back to our rightful place at the top of the tree!
cheers,
Mike
-
Congratulations Steven for winning yet another silver medal :) perhaps you should consider changing your name to Mr Incredible 8) GL for Luton, Allyson
-
Just need to sort out your Heads Up play now Steve. :P

Thank you very much, maybe one day I will learn my lesson that slow playing aces on a final table does not work lol.
I know this thread is open to anybody but surely that doesn"t include....... them :D
-
Good luck to you both in the English online Championship today. If I am at home I will keep an eye on how you are doing.
-
Good luck for tonight guys, you put in a great performance last game and should have got points for effort! Lets hope we all get lots of these ac ad1 :) Allyson

Welcome to APAT, it is certainly possible to play. Not hard to do my PM should explain it but contact me of Stormpetrel if you get stuck with anything, or post on this thread and one of the two of us will reply.
Do you play live or just online?
-
Hi newps, Your very welcome to play for Swansea in the league. Hopefully we"ll see you for the next game. Will send you pm.

Congratulations Steven on your win tonight, very well done. Thanks for playing and GL again for Luton :) Allyson

You should come and play, with your game you would do well at the live events. Going to Coventry.
-
Thanks Steven,I can"t make Luton but I"m going to Coventry. I enjoyed Nottingham and managed to stay in the ME for a while so that was an improvement :o Hopefully I can do better in Coventry. Whatever happens though it"s good fun and useful experience of playing live. Hope to see you this time if your going, I missed you in Nottingham but then again you were very busy on the final table ;D

Yeah, I"ll be there. Lucky enough to bink a seat in the Sat last night as well. I will definately find out who you are this time and say hello.
-
Finally got around to checking the 10/10 results - well done to both of you! I should be back in action for the next one, hopefully.
Do either of you play live at the Grosvenor or Aspers in Swansea? I was thinking of turning up to the 100+10 at Aspers on 6/11 if anyone wants to meet up?
Cheers,
Mike

I mostly play live at Les Croupiers these days (which is a long drive to be fair but is a good card room), not a big fan of Aspers as most of their cash games seem to be self deal, which slows it down a lot. I actually don"t play many tournaments other than apat and the odd DTD. Is the tournament on the 6th dealer dealt do you know? I might be tempted top take a look.
-
Thanks Mike. Hope you can make it for the next league game, I play live at Aspers sometimes but as the 6/11 event clashes with the APAT European Online Championship I"ll have to give it a miss. I"d be happy to play an Aspers/Grosvenor event in December though so let me know if your interested in going then.
Cheers
Allyson

I"ve just called Aspers and they assure me that the monthly 100 is dealer dealt - I"m going to give it a go this month and I"ll let you know if I"m being told porkies...

That makes it a lot more attractive to be fair. Any idea on the structure.
Now loving this thread by the way, Feeling like a team type thread, now lets get a few more players, get our promotion and start our challenge for the first division. If we all arrange to meet up and play a tourny in Swansea we might be able to convince other players. How does December work for you both? My poker calander looks kinda full in November.

Gotta admire the hang-in-there-ability of players on a team where a team message includes the phrase "you both".

It would be great to meet up in Swansea for a live game and it is a good chance to persuade potential new team members to join up. I"m pretty busy in November but December is a good time. Hope we can get something sorted, be nice to see everyone :)

I"ve just called Aspers and it seems like 6th November is a special "Bonfire Bonanza" event. The details are:
1. 2 day event, 7pm start on 6th November, 2pm on 7th November
2. £150+£15 entry
3. 10,000 chip starting stack
4. 40 minute clock
5. Dealer dealt
6. Entry includes complimentary buffet
I"m still intending to go, anyone else?

Might actually get opportunity to play in a league match this Sunday for first time since first season so just to get it right in advance my latest Betfair incarnation is holdmnweep (changed from bokor). Good to see Swansea doing so well and congrats to Rodders on his success in the live APATs as well.
-
I know that APAT needs to look at merging some teams due to lack of interest and Swansea was probably one of them. However I believe this thread shows that there are a few player serious about getting the team up and running. I would hope that Swansea does not end up being merged with another team as Allyson has done a great job this year of getting people playing and we might even be up to five active members soon. This might not sound like many compared to some clubs but given that we didn"t really have any players at the start of the year, Swansea is growing and IF we get promoted to Div 2 this season I think we have proved we should be given the chance to remain.
-
OK who is playing tomorrow. I will be back in Swansea by the time it starts so I will be in. Lets try and get a record turn out for Swansea tomorrow (should not be too hard we only need four) and get the win and start closing that gap on North London.
-
Thanks Steven, it"s great you can make it for Sunday. I"ll be playing as usual. Hope everyone can play, obviously the more people that turn up to the matches the better chance Swansea will have of promotion. We"re doing pretty well at the moment ;D and I"m sure more people will join the team soon. Nice to hear from you Outlander, hope to see you Sunday. GL everyone
-
I will be playing tonight username is newps79, my name is chris newport, i would like to wish everyone the best of luck for tonight as well.
-
Thanks Chris and Mike for playing tonight too. Wow what a turn out! Very best of luck guys
-
14 Players in and FIVE are from Swansea. That is an great turn out, lets all make the final table. Swansea players are:-
Nemisiss9
ugmike
holdmnweep
newps79
AAroddersAA
Can we make it 5 wins out of six (Swansea players have won 4 of the first 5 tournaments)
-

Got your wish... five in by my reckoning. Good luck to everyone... but especially those representing Swansea!!
-
Yay, go team! GL all.
Mike
-
Soz for the KK Newps.... was hoping to dent Linzi"s stack... still better to keep the chips in the team than let her have em... she"s got more than enough. Oh... and apols for the radio silence... just cant get my head round chat during the games... nor multi-tabling ... that really does my head in.
-
thats ok, hitting a full house on the flop and running into quads was difficult to take, i am glad it was to a fellow team member. hope you go onto win it. not happy with my debut performance.
-
My debut this season too... likewise not happy with how it went... every time I had something I ran into something bigger...except when I hit the quads against you... went out with 99 against 10 J s ... thought I was ahead coz Linz bet a bit bigger than normal.... but it was best I"d had for ages... she was always going to hit flush though... still maybe Rodders will fair better.... wish at least one more of us had got to final table... but ugmike had cruel luck as well KK didnt work too good for him. Hope we fair better next time.
-

Allyson also had KK outdrawn, really unlucky. A few cards hitting differently and we would have a few on the final table. I watched your table and from what I saw I don"t think any of you did too much wrong. Don"t get hung up on results, you are going to lose most tournaments not matter how well you play. The team was unlucky tonight but I am still confident we can get a good finish in this league and win promotion. Your table looked like fun anyway, Betfair not allowing you to talk on tables that you are not sat at is annoying. Hope everybody keeps playing as I think the results will come.
Good luck at the tables between now and the next one. Will let you know my result later.
-
well our luck can only improve, do we do any social events where we meet up in swansea and play, quite enjoyed playing tonight and will definately be back for more
-
Go Rodders... railing you... you can do it!!
-
go on rodders, can you post the result here when you are done.
-
I think we have come second tonight whatever happens from here, we are three way and it could go on for a while, North London are going to win it.
-
I managed to get the win tonight so that is not five out of six tournaments one of us has won. I hit everything on the final table and was pleased with the way I played. I think I made 4 sets.
I am pretty sure we were second behind North London, so the league will now look:-
1) North London: 15
2) Swansea: 10
3) Kent 5
It going to be tough from here but lets not give up and keep fighting for it.
EDIT - Corrected table
-
Congrats.... you did well with the 9s. Howdz the league work this season. Value added for top team and just the one promoted??
-
Congrats.... you did well with the 9s. Howdz the league work this season. Value added for top team and just the one promoted??
It is not just one team, I can"t remember if it is top 2 or top 3. There is added value for the top team buyins to an APAT national chmapionship event for the top 4 players in that team.
-
1) NL
2) Swansea 10
Big gap to make up unless you get more back up on final table. Great effort to win it though... but hard to make up ground on NL by yourself... need the rest of us to get there too. Unfortunately I normally work on a Sunday night... so prob wont be able to give my support again for a while... not that it counted for much tnite. GL.... as long as one person wins each event and has some support on final table easy... you can do it.... four players... three who"ve won and Newps out to prove a point next time.. you can do it. Just to be on the safe side though find some way to nobble the computers at the Iwaniak household and take Linzi and Richard out.
-
Congrats Steven on your win, 8) very well played. The rest of the team didn"t have the best of luck tonight but it was still an excellent result for Swansea as we gain two match points and this keeps us very much in the promotion race. We also retain our position of second in Division Three. The Top three teams in the Division will gain promotion at the end of the season and the top four individual players of the winning team will be awarded APAT event seats. Swansea are looking good at the moment but we need everyone to keep playing, so let"s keep up the good work guys! Hope to see you for the next game. Allyson
-
Well done Steven on another fantastic result, and great support from Allyson again. Sorry not to be giving much scoring support - Allyson got moved to our table and I promptly exited the tournament (I"m not doing a good job of impressing the captain!) in 2 all-in hands after two card-dead hours.
Anyway, hopefully I can run a bit better at the next one and catch up on event wins...
Cheers,
Mike
-
well done rodders, sorry i could not be more help. just googled the women from north london and she is uk womens champ, the standard is very high. does skyler dyck ever play, he writes a blog which seems popular

Hey Mike, you were very unlucky to go out Sunday on a very strong hand, I think it was :as: kc. I"m very impressed by the effort you make in all your matches and I remember you won the first league game you played, a fantastic achievement! Hope you get better luck next time :) Still a good night in terms of points for Swansea though thanks to Steven"s win ;D Allyson
-
Hi Chris, very hard luck Sunday losing on a full house! As you noticed, the standard of the league is very high and Linda Iwaniak (linziwan) is a very tough player to beat. Sadly Skyler Dyck hasn"t played this season but he"s more than welcome to come back and play for Swansea. Hope to see you for the next game and you get better luck :) Allyson
-
thanks for the words of support, i may do a bit of research on the players for next, i will definately be playing and am already looking forward to it. thinking of trying the apat qualifiers tomorrow as well.

Glad to hear you will continue to play. Good luck in the qualifiers. I might play the online game on Saturday but depends what I am doing. There is a game at Aspers that is worth a look as well. Or I could just go to the pub (which looks favourite at the moment). Hope to see you playing more APAT tournaments in the future.
-
whats the event in aspers? is there a mailing list i can sign up to?
-
Chris, see earlier message on this thread, below.
I"ve just called Aspers and it seems like 6th November is a special "Bonfire Bonanza" event. The details are:
1. 2 day event, 7pm start on 6th November, 2pm on 7th November
2. £150+£15 entry
3. 10,000 chip starting stack
4. 40 minute clock
5. Dealer dealt
6. Entry includes complimentary buffet
I"m still intending to go, anyone else?
-
Trip report on Aspers Bonfire Bonanza:
Pros:
40 minute levels, 10k stack and dealer dealt gave plenty of play.
The standard was much weaker than I expected (very similar to the lower buy-ins there). Playing classic TAG worked well, picking on the 4-5 on my table who were loose-passive with lots of 3-betting and being more careful around the others, keeping pots small against them.
Cons:
Only 45 runners (but top prize over 2k).
Buffet was poor - just chilli tacos and rice.
Breaks were too long.
I didn"t cash (came 14th after getting all in on flop with the nuts (nut flush) only to have a set fill up to knock me out, would have been chip leader but it wasn"t to be).
I"m not going to be around for the 100+10 for the first Saturday in December I"m afraid, have satted into Betfair"s tournament in Vienna, shall we get together in Jan or Feb?
-
Feb works well for me.
January is APAT Spain and hopefully the champion of champions event (if I win the rankings) + the Team Event. I may also play the DTD Deepstack in Jan if it fits in.
If anybody fancies the trip to DTD let me know.
What is the event in Vienna? I will keep an eye on it see how you are doing. Good luck with it.

Sounds like a plan for Feb. I"d like to try out DTD at some point so I"d be on for a trip there sometime. The event in Vienna is the Betfair Live event (https://site.poker.betfair.com/promotions/betfair_poker_live_vienna.html. Only 270 euros but 100k guaranteed so worth a go).
-
Feb is good for me too. I"m hoping to make the team event in January. Hard luck at Aspers Mike, Vienna sounds good though. Best of luck :)
-
Who"s on for the league match this weekend? I"m hopefully, but not definitely, playing.
-
I hope I can make it this weekend not 100% at the moment but should be ok
-
I really hope everyone can make it for Sunday guys, (I"ll be playing as usual) We"re doing well but we need to keep battling to keep our promotion hopes alive! Let"s keep up the good work GL :)
-
i can play tonight, won a freeroll last night on 888, 2100 players which was good. went to les croupiers on friday did not too well there, so the form is up and down at the moment. wish you all well for tonight.

Was that the £15 Tournament or the cash games?
I have been at Cheltenham but should be back for tonight or I can jut play on the laptop probably. Gotta watch the F1 first though.
-
it was the tournament, went about in about 50th, 107 entrants, really like the way they do the tournament there. really enjoyed the night
-
Congrats Chris on your win. Best of luck for tonight everyone.
-
Right I am playing tonight but after yesterday I might not quite be 100%. Betfair took over Cheltenham which was cool, and I got some free Betfair stuff, too much Guinness though has left me not really 100% for playing poker.
In other news Vettel took the title today, probably the right result across the season.
Anyone if the rest of you just play well to make up for my probable bad play that would be good.
Also don"t forget thee are sats this week for Spain on Betfair.
-
Swapped my shift earlier in the week so I could get away today with a 50:50 chance of making the start but knowing i"d at least be able to play before blinded out. Bah humbug ... wish I"d missed the start.... would have been far better off if I"d come in an hour late and not played like a numpty in the first hour... oh well... I"m hooked again now... going to have to give it some more goes coz I"m not doing much for the team so far. Hard luck Allyson... outflopped by an under-pair is tough... but go Newps and Rodders... the final table and some points are in sight. Good luck!
-
went out chasing a flush draw, i had top pair but knew the other guy was in front. schoolboy error need to stop gambling so much.
-
Sorry all
Didn"t play very well tonight. Should have done better when it got down to six handed but my decisions were poor. Will make up for it next time though.
-
well done rodders, you did well and you had a late night as well, i played well for 80% of the time and made two shocking calls. hope to iron these errors out of my game very quickly and then offer you some support on the final table.
-
Hard luck tonight guys! sorry everyone I did the earliest exit possible when I ran my pocket tens into trip sixes ::) Look on the bright side though, we"re still second in the league ;D Hope the bad luck we"ve had lately doesn"t put you off playing! Everyone played well tonight but we had a big share of that awful bad luck again. Swansea still has a very realistic chance of promotion though but we need to keep on fighting for it and the competition is very tough. Hope to see you all at the next game and we all get better luck :) Allyson
-
Hi everyone, just looking around my area for some poker games - I live about 45 mins from Swansea. Can someone tell me a bit about your game, entry fee, cash games? Where it is etc? Also if anyone knows any games around the Ammanford, Carmarthen, Llandeilo area or anywhere in between? Cheers!
-
Hi poker777, welcome to Swansea Poker Club! We play an online league at Betfair Poker which usually takes place once a fortnight on a Sunday at 8pm, The cost is $10. If your interested in playing you will need to get a Betfair Poker alias.
The next match is on the fifth of December, hope to see you there :) the password for all the league games is apatmember. Swansea are currently in division Three but are hoping for promotion this season as we"re second in the league at the moment ;D I"m not sure what games are going on in the Ammanford area etc. but Aspers Casino in Swansea usually have a tournament the first Saturday of every month. If you"ve got any questions about anything get back to me
Cheers
Allyson

Allyson, stop posting on forums and go and get better so you will be in Coventry on the weekend :-)
Hi Poker777 I will echo Allyson, and say welcome to APAT.
Obviously the online league is an online game (cos it"s an online league). If you do decide to sign up and play the league (and don"t already have a Betfair account) please use one of the links from this site to allow APAT to benefit from your play. Download link is on the homepage http://www.apat.com
As for live poker, it might be out of your way but in my opinion the best venue for live poker in Wales is Les Croupiers in Cardiff, right by Cardiff City Stadium. All the games are dealer dealt and the cash games are very good, run regular and the dealers are excellent. Food and drinks are served at the tables with games running well into the night on Friday and Saturday. Worth a look although a long drive for you.
Aspers Cash games are softer than Croups and run quite frequently, but Croups is a far better experience. I am not a big tournament player and play far more cash than tournaments (outside of APAT I can"t remember when I last played a live tournament). Realistically Aspers is going to be the closest half decent venue to you.
What sort of games are you looking for - there are bound to be some pub games and snooker club games in your area, if you are fairly new to the game they are a great way to start out. Rileys snooker club will run games if you ahev one near to you. If you are more experienced the Aspers/Les Croups are the places you want. Although if you ever get the chance DTD in Nottingham is a different league.
APAT will also be holding be hold an event in Wales in the first half of next year. I expect it to be in Cardiff (at Les Croupiers) although this is based on nothing other than I know they would host it and it is the best venue, it will be a two day £75 10,000 chip starting stack with a superb structure and 45 minute clock. It is run by the best tournament organisers there are (seriously). If you get a chance then I would recommend checking this event out.
There I will stop sounding like an advert for APAT now let you get on with looking around the forum.
-
Hi poker777, another welcome to the Swansea club!
I"d echo what the others have said about Aspers being the best (local) place - I"ve not tried Les Croupiers as yet (a bit of a hike from Carmarthen) but the tournaments and cash games at Aspers are seriously soft. Tournaments run most evenings, just check their website for buy-ins and structures, but almost all are self-deal which is a bit of a pain.
Anyway, welcome again!
-
Hi everyone, league match is tomorrow so please play if you can. We need those match points if we want promotion! Let"s hope the poker gods are with us :) Allyson
-
i am registered, i am full of cold as well, good luck to everyone. is anyone going to the one way event next saturday?
-
I"m in.
Not doing the One Way Poker event as it clashes with the online APAT. I basically need to play that one as if I make the final table I will have the most points in the overall rankings this season and will tie up a Champion of Champions seat. Means a lot of the pressure will be off in Spain.
If we have any chance of winning this btw we really need the win tonight so lets all go for it. There is really no difference between finishing 2nd and 3rd so might as well go for the win. We are six points behind North London with three games to go. Its a tough ask I know but still possible so lets not give up just yet.
-
That sure went well :-)
Come on newps and holdenweep 2 players on the final table would still put us in there with a chance. Keep it going.
-
finished 7th, got short stacked and went all in with J Q, run into aces. getting better each time.
-
Very hard luck tonight guys :( Well done Chris for getting seventh :) Everyone is fighting hard for promotion, it"s going to be very tough but it all depends on the last two match results so please keep playing. Swansea still have a good chance but we have to keep trying. Thanks everyone for playing tonight, keep up the good work and GL for next time :)
-
shall we arrange a date early next year where we all go to les croups on the friday, we could maybe go for a meal or something first. we will be playing division 2 poker by then.
-

We will hopefully be playing Div 2 poker, although there will be no division three at that point.
There should be a decent event in Cardiff/Swansea in Feb time. Calander for Jan is pretty full with a DTD GP and two live APAT's. Hopefully the CoC event as well.
Feb is totally empty, although I may play the DTD deepstack that month. Happy to arrange a night at Aspers/Les Croupiers/G. Who wants to go, post what weekends you are available in Feb and I will check the Swansea/Cardiff casinos for decent events.
The new APAT season is likely to begin in March so we should all make the effort to get to a live event at that point.
-
I"m pretty busy during January but February is good, nothing much going on this month, though I might play the DTD deepstack. I"m happy to go to Cardiff or Swansea in Feb. I"m also hoping to go to more APAT live events next year, the Welsh Event for definite (assuming there is one) This year it was in Swansea(Aspers) in March, don"t know where it will be next year but can"t wait for that one, well can"t wait for all the events really ;D

This is a nice unconfusing thread (unlike the rest of forums currently) so I will put a post here, you wanna swap jobs for Bolton by the way???
I take it you mean the DTD Deepstack in Feb as hopefully a few of us are planning on that, they have a few different tournaments that weekend so should be good.
I would expect there to be a Welsh event next year (will be shocked if there is not), probably in Cardiff as Aspers have not done too well this year in these kind of events. If you are not playing them all the events (I hopefully am but some that need long weekends depend on nothing getting in the way work wise) strongly recommended are:-
1) Dublin - Best APAT weekend of the year, nowhere near as expensive as everybody says
2) Scotland - Aberdeen this year was cool would go again, may end up in Dundee next year - or Newcastle?
3) Nottingham - Book the whole fesitval off work
-
i cant make the first weekend in feb as I have a wedding in liverpool, how did you all get on last weekend in the apat event?
-
Ok Chris. Hope you can make it for another weekend in Feb. Didn"t do well in the APAT event, my qc qh got beaten on the river by a flush :o so I crashed out of the event "fairly" early third from last I think lol
-
Hi guys, League game is on tomorrow and we need as many players as possible to play. Match points are vital at this stage so let"s go for it! Best of Luck!
-
Hi all,
I should be back playing tonight - Merry Christmas!
Mike
-
I"ll play tonight - if you can call what I am currently doing at the poker table playing that is.
-
I am registered for tonight, i have gradually got better every time so hoping to get a minimum of top 3 this time. good luck to everyone for tonight.
-
Chris, unlucky with your exit tonight - rightmove, right time - he should never have called, and you were a favourite when he did...
-
went out in 8th, dundee are looking stonger all the time. just hope mike goes on to win it.
-
unfortunately not - out in 5th. having been short(ish) stacked by losing with AA vs AJo (all-in preflop)...
Never mind, see you all next time!
Mike
-
you played very well mike, it happens we have got the makings of a very good side. my mate has just said he will come and play. he once won one of the grosvernor events. http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=136517. this is him.
-
Very well played guys. We should have got some points tonight but it seems the poker gods were against us! It"s all to play for in the last game. Have a good Christmas everyone and GL for next time.

Hi guys,
Last league match of the season is tomorrow night! We need as many people to play as possible as this match will determine whether Swansea get promotion or not. Our fate is in our own hands, if Dundee win tomorrow, unless we get second we will have no chance of promotion so we really have to go for it! I know we have had very bad luck recently but that"s poker. However, We have great players in the Swansea Team so let"s get this game won. Best of luck everyone.

Just for you I will make a special effort not to finish in the bottom three this time. Based on the last three league games and my recent form it"s probably a futile effort.
You OK, did you have a good Christmas and New year?
-
I will be playing tonight, does anyone know when the next online season will be starting?

It will be annoued soo........ ah forget it *lol*
Nobody is actually sure what the league format will be actually be. It is pretty unlikely to will remain as is unfortunately
Have a look at this thread it explains that and a lot of other things about the forthcoming season.

My recent form has been well, pretty awful ;D but will keep on trying. Looking forward to next season and the new league format(whatever this will be) I had a good Christmas and New Year, hope you did too :) Had too much turkey, chocs and beer as always! Hope the blonde shirt will fit lol Anyone playing the Betfair London Live event? This looks like fun, think I"ll try a few sats for that.

Well you have been better than me, not that that means anything over the last month or so :-)
How do you eat/drink too much at Christmas, didn"t think that was possible. I might play a few satsn for the Betfair live event, Ian won the league last week so he will certainly be playing it I would have thought.
I will do a quick sweep on who is registered tonight for you now so we know who is playing for Swansea and Dundee. I reckon we will take them tonight.
-
I"m registered for tonight, GL all.
Mike
-
Players Registered tonight, will update as more register up to the start
cgull69 - Brighton
Donthehammer - North London
Dundeeshug - Dundee
Forththistle - Dundee
Highlandpk18 - Dundee
Pables64 - Kent
Sussex-girl - Brighton
TheDon1966 - Noth London
theyid62 - Kent
Nemesis9 - Swansea
utgmike - Swansea
AAroddersAA - Swansea
Newps - Swansea
Reedmeister_ - Brighton
Iced ink - Kent
lpgn - North London
Wise_Owl BF - North London
Travel52a - North London
Liziwan2 - North London
At the moment there are three registered for Dundee and three for Swansea. Our line up should be slightly stronger but the Dundee players are all in form so everybody needs to give their best performance this evening.
One suggestion I would make is not to worry too much about how Dundee are doing to start with and don"t go into survival mode just to outlast them unless the situation on the day really warrants it, which based on the current dynamic by default it will not. Play to win and make the right moves. It should be enough to get the job done.
EDIT @ 19:20 - We now outnumber Dundee 4 to 3
-
just went out, started well then messed up, good news is 2 dundee players already out
-
I may have just made the mother of league all cockup"s
That may have been the worst move in the history of poker.
EDIT - Thank god for that, thanks Allyson :-)
-
does that mean we are promoted? i made some shocking calls today as well.
-
Congratulations and very well done everyone :) We finished ahead of Dundee tonight so we will finish third in the League and gain promotion! Division Two here we come ;D Thanks everyone for playing. It is a very tough league and we have had bad luck over the last few games but we kept fighting and got the result in the end :o
Everyone in the Team is a quality player and I hope you will keep playing for Swansea next season, I"m sure more people will join Swansea soon. It would be great if we could all meet up next month and celebrate! I think we all deserve a night out after all the effort we"ve made. So hopefully see you soon :) Cheers everyone ;) Allyson
-
Well done guys and gals , your only problem was the same as ours ...... TURNOUT
well played you lot
cheers
Ian

Great post and thanks, yes we deserve a night out!!
Although you are not going to say it yourself, we wouldn"t have done it without the job you did as captain by getting some players and changing it into a team that nobody bothered with into a team that can get promotion (and won two games at exactly the time we needed you too) - Well Done. See ya in Bolton.
Obviously I expect the full support of Swansea next weekend in my effort to win the APAT National Rankings Title (and keep it out of Cardiff *lol*). I am currently top but Darren Shallis is right behind me with Jack Prime still in with an outside shout too. Don"t forget to follow the updates on the APAT boards.
Oh and you really should all visit the rest of the APAT forum at some point too, we are all really quite nice :-)
-
congrats on your promotion.
-
Thanks and congrats on your promotion. Well done Luton!
-
Allyson - I"d certainly second Steven in thanking you for captaining us (and of course your two wins!). Steven, best of luck on the APAT rankings.
Now for the night out, what dates are we thinking? Mid-week or weekend etc? Do people want to exchange numbers by PM to organise?
Congrats to everyone on the promotion - let"s see if we can get up to Div 1!
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Guy"s
Excellent news, I survived a weekend in Spain with APAT (I was not 100% sure if I was still alive yesterday but can now confirm I am) *lol*
I think a night out in Feb is a must (we were awesome this season) so we should do something about it rather than just talk about it. I honestly don"t mind what we do but my preference would be something that does not involve playing poker. I would be happy with a night in Wetherspoons or some place like that. However there is also the option of going for a meal (Indian is good for me). Oh and a weekend is better IMO, will be better if we don"t have to get up for work. I am not available the weekend of 12th and 13th but would be happy with any other weekend. However I am going to suggest 5th of Feb just so we have a date. If that does not work for others we can change it.
Mike/Chris/Steve I will PM you my number/email. Can you all PM me and Allyson with yours so we can all text or email each other.
Can all four of you please post here if 4th Feb is any good for you and if you would prefer:-
Poker
Meal
Pub (with food included if you like)
I will vote for the pub (Wetherspoons in Swansea??) on 4th Feb. Let us know if this does not work for you. Me and Allyson are both on Bolton the weekend before so can sort out final details there. (follow the updates and support Team APAT and Blonde Poker FTW please)
Whatever we do I can"t promise I won"t bore you all with accounts of APAT weekends and various APAT experiences.
Rodders
--------------------------------------------
APAT Season Four National Rankings Winner (Very Blatant brag - again)
APAT Community Team Captain - UK Team Championship 2011
-
Thanks guys for your kind words and the great team effort that made promotion possible. Well done Steve on winning the National Rankings 8) best of luck with Champion of Champions and for the Bolton Team Event.
It would be good to get a night out sorted for Feb! I"m ok for Saturday 5th but can"t make it for Friday 4th. Most of the other weekends in Feb are ok for me except 12th 13th in case I go to the Betfair London live tournament. I don"t mind whether we play poker or not. I"m more than happy to go to Wetherspoons or some place similar, so my preference is for the pub ;D Saying that, I don"t mind if we do something else. Poker, Pub and Food (Indian sounds great) are all good.
Look forward to hearing lots of stories about APAT weekends lol
Allyson
-
Congrats to Allyson on getting the team promoted and to Rodders on his national rankings success.
I"d love to meet up for a meal or poker or pub but I"m afraid I"m likely to be the spanner in the works because:
1) At the moment I work evenings until about midnight, except normally on a Monday or Tuesday.
2) I actually live in Cardiff and signed up for Swansea because was born nearer to Swansea and at the time nobody else had signed up so wanted to try to get the ball rolling as knew I"d have very little opportunity to play for either Cardiff or Swansea because of work.
So I suggest you arrange something you can all make and I"ll try to get along if I can by swapping shifts with colleagues. Happy to come down to Swansea as I"d hoped joining Swansea would give me the motivation to drop by the casinos there but so far it hasn"t.
At the moment I"m very unhappy with Betfair over an episode last Saturday when they trapped many users funds and were not paying out winnings on some tournaments. Surprisingly this rather frustrated me and I tilted with the purpose of getting rid of my paltry bankroll so that I never had to use the site again. Their customer service in rectifying the rather large error with their software has been appalling so as much as I love playing Apat tournaments and want to play for Swansea in the league I feel compelled to boycott Betfair unless they push the boat out to restore my trust in the site. Anyways, hope to see you all in one of the live Apat tournaments if not before.
Cheers Steve H
-
well done to everyone on their successess. i cant make the first weekend in feb as i have a wedding on the wirral, i think a meal and then some poker at aspers would be a good idea.
-
Hi all,
Friday 4th Feb is fine for me, Saturday 5th is more difficult. Happy to meet/drink/eat as suggested - though, of course, I"ll have to come across from Carmarthen so might need to drive (I"ll check train timetables!). I"d suggest that we meet up for the 1st w/e in Feb since at least some of us can make it - we can then try to make it a more regular event thereafter?
Hope to meet at least some of you then!
Cheers,
Mike
-
the 4th feb will be very busy in town, it is wales v england at rugby that night, if you are going for a meal you may need to book before hand. i doubt i will be there, the wedding is on the sunday and i think i will be travelling up on the friday, if not i will try my best to make it

Oh ffs - I forgot all about that.
Sorry guy"s, that"s gg to poker and food that night. I will be watching the game in some random pub somewhere (most likely Cardiff or Newport). Looks like 4th Feb was a bad day anyway.
Just come to the Bolton event next weekend!!!!! I will give you free membership to the Team APAT fan club

Has anyone played Aspers on the friday night? I am thinking of doing it next friday(25.2.11) if anybody else fancies it, I would also consider les croups.

Dont know about aspers on a friday but was at croups last friday... 100+ runners for a £15 freezeout. a good night... helped by the fact I made the final table but had my AK cracked by A9 to go out first for £30. Will probably be there again this friday... aspers would probably be a bit too tight for me to get there after work... would need to check out train times but if it was doable I"d be up for it...
-
I am a big fan of les croups, I played last monday and came 4th, top 3 cashed and there were 32 runners, i was quite happy with my performance. we should definately arrange a friday in les croups, the last friday of the month is usually quite busy as it is most peoples payday. well done on the final table, any news on when the online league starts.
-
Les Croups is better than Aspers on a Friday night, Aspers is basically gets turned into a nightclub, not great for trying to play cards. Les Croups has some excellent cash games (not that I have been there for ages but I am told they are still good).
The new league will be annouced at the same time as season five so I would expect to see that some time next month eith the season kicking off in April.
-
Les Croups still very vibrant for cash games although not a participant myself, prefer tournies... very wary of cash. Cardiff Grosvenor offers cash as well now though on a more regular basis than it used to - until recently were only getting a table going on a fri or sat - now there"s often a table going on most nights and it"s usually a more leisurely game... not as manic as les croups which is certainly not for the faint-hearted.

I will be playing some poker this weekend, I have 4 days off so need to do something, saturday is destined to be a day of sport with Swansea v Leeds and Italy v Wales, has anyone played poker in Bristol on a friday?

Hi Aneurin, Welcome to Swansea :) We did well in the league last season, finishing third overall. Hopefully Swansea can do well in season 5. We could use more players though, so if you can get more people to join that would be great! Hope to see you at 888 soon for the League games. The first match is 03 April. (Sunday at 8.00pm) ($10 buy in) Hope I can improve my match performance in s5 too LOL. My poker alias on 888 is south38, used to be Nemisiss9 on Betfair. GL Allyson :)

yep saw that, was definately improved last season from earlier attempts by swansea!
unfotunately manchester are down in our division this year, i was hoping that maybe with the restructuring Manchester would remain in Division 1 as I wondered whether it was right to move from hometown to currently living town or not, and hoped not to be up against my old teammates, and friends from home too!
and last season i suffered with working sun evenings some weeks, at the minute though i work 5.30am-2pm on sundays so hopefully i should be playing most games this season, as i want us to win this league, whilst I hopefully go back to s3 where i was making money from the online league ;)
Good luck to all swansea players in the new season!

Excellent stuff.
Password for the league games this season is "apatdiv2" and the discussion thread is here http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=8260.0
Good to see some new members here as well. For those of you who are new, welcome to APAT. Don"t forget in addition to the league games APAT have a full schedule of National Online Tournaments and run the best live tour in Europe. Would be great to see some of the Swansea players doing well this season, not only in the league games but in the wider APAT enviornment and beyond that. If you get the chance try to come to an APAT live event. The Welsh Championship is set for 28th and 29th May and will be held in Cardiff.
Speaking of live events are any of you playing Coventry this weekend?
Cheers

England won"t mind. Getting beaten is an everyday occurance for England, Rugby, Cricket and now football, they are experts at it.
I can"t make Coventry, I hate missing these but I had already commited to something for work and can"t get out of it. Coventry is a great casino as well. I will have to support you online instead. I hope to see at least one Swansea player in day two, final table would be good, gold medal would be better.
I will be back in Newcastle though so hope to see some of you there (will be a good one as everybody is doing the long weekend).

Congrats Steve on the Welsh Captaincy for the Home International Championship. Very well done 8)
