Club Captain

I am pleased to announce that the captain for the Bristol Poker Club for the season will be Suzanne Hayward.

Suzanne has very kindly offered to assist in this role and get the recruitment drive going for the Bristol area.  She is part of the Bristol and West Poker Meetup group and is a regular poster on BlondePoker and recently cashed in the APAT WCOAP main event at the Vic, just missing the final table.

Many thanks,

Leigh

Very good choice, she recruited 1/2 of the team already through the meet-up threads.  :D  If you hadn"t recruited her, we would have thrown her under the bus anyways with Tom out of the country.  (Our Bristol captin last season)  :P

Really chuffed about making it into the first game through a satellite, and Ihope to make a sound showing to kick off this season.  I think it would be cool to make all the live events this season and very pleased that Suzanne has persuaded and encouraged me to get involved with APAT.  I expect "Team Orange" will double up on their previous showing, yes!

Orange FTW

I vote for Suzanne as Bristol captain, did a great job letting us know and is deserving of the honour!

Can anyone tell me what time the tournaments begin each Sunday evening? Many thanks...

Duuuh just posted on the on the board that Suzanne should be captain, come here and she is. Great choice!

What time do the individual tournaments begin each Sunday night and how does one find them/sign up online? Is there a password for each one or does Blue SQ recognise your sign-in and just let you in?

WPT magazine pulled contracts from Future in Bath and there is a bit of a legal kerfuffle so last issue about to hit the stands (I was to contribute 2 pages next issue). Future likely to launch new poker title more later.

WELL PLAYED BRISTOL!!!

We had a fantastic turnout and had 2 players make the final table, goater (Simon) who was 8th and 1vanace (Toby) who was 5th which will give us a total of 9 points woooohooooo...a brilliant start!!

Well played also to sleeves who was at the top of the leaderboard for most of the game but got unlucky when down to the last 20.

Thank you guys and looking forward to the next game already :-)
Title: Re: Bristol Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: Noe on February 01, 2009, 23:44:56 PM
I really HATE that the 9 points are worthless to us now that I JUST sussed out that ONLY the top 3 teams get anything towards the league points.....   *sighs*

This make me very sad.
Title: Re: Bristol Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: suzanne on February 01, 2009, 23:47:18 PM
Some captain I am, I only just sussed it out myself.

Team points are :-

Southampton 15 pts
South London 14 pts
Cardiff 11 pts
Bristol 9 pts
North London 6 pts

Therefore league points earned are :-

3 pts   Southampton Poker Club
2 pts   South London Poker Club
1 pt    Cardiff Poker Club

I thought the extra points would be added to the team points...sigh.

Post by: APAT on February 01, 2009, 23:50:10 PM
It was a great effort guys.  Look on the bright side, you are only 3 points behind the leaders and not 6 and you have shown that you have the game to compete for the top three places in each of the 20 matches.  There is a long way to go...
Title: Re: Bristol Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: Noe on February 02, 2009, 00:00:40 AM
Well.....  yes that is one way of looking at it!   :o

But our team did so well and are still in the BIG POOL others with the rest of the losers!   :o  Right now it feels like a lot of energy and SUCH A FANTASTIC result to have 2 in top 10 and like 4 in top 20......and still be 7 way tie for last place.   :P

(laughs)   ;D

BUT great result Tob if we pulll this out of the bag behind, this puts your name on list for top 4 players and that seat to the Big leagues.  ;)

Thanks for the support guys n gals, well played Toby.
Like the rest of you I thought all the final table got points for the team, seems a bit harsh that only the top 3 get team points, oh well at least we know what we gotta do in the next leg.

Think we are quite a bit behind the top two but if I"m right in thinking we only need to be in the top four to progress so all still to play for.

I officially HATE QQ.

Goater is on my table and goes allin, I fold QQ he gets a caller 10 10 v 99 and hits a 10...phew!!

Noe, sleeves and mousebob are on my table and im in BB with QQ, Noe raises I call, low flop and Noe goes allin...good fold me as she shows AA. Same table and I have QQ AGAIN but sleeves has raised before me and doesnt have too many chips so I fold. He gets all his chips in with a caller when his JJ trips up and no queen appeared on the board...phew!!

Moved to a different table, chipdaddy no1 makes a x5 raise (suspiciously big raise) so I go all in with 10 10, second chipdaddy re re raised allin with a mountain of chips and what did he have? Yep you guessed it Q bloody Q...sigh.

Well played Greener...thanx for the supports girls...sorry Noa for knocking you out when I pushed all in I was praying you would fold..maybe I should have folded pre-flop and not got involved...difficult having to remember your playing for the team and not just yourself. sorry I didn"t get us in the top 3 the luck just ran out with some unlucky rivers :) unlucky too Suz..some good play you made last night.

InTheCash: I think I am officially doomed in this tournament! ..... I got two callers to my AllIn with pocket Aces .... and both had AK .... guess what? .... both hit a straight on the turn for half my stack .... all downhill from there! .... maybe next time!

Mr Dan Owston of the Cardiff team seems to think that Bristol is dead in the water. I must agree that we havent had the best start but after winning the last game I am sure our luck has changed.

We know we are a better team and the league is far from over.

I am putting a £10 bounty on Dans head for any Bristol member who knocks him out (on the poker table I mean as I believe he does boxing :-)  Owston69 is his username...TAKE HIM OUT!!!

goater1414 (Simon) and 1vanace (Toby) ended heads up giving us a 1 2, Toby who played an excellent game and was chipleader for most of the game took it down in the end.

Another 3 points for Bristol and we are back in the game!!!

Its a bit doubtful that I will be able to play this weekends game as I am playing in the woman tour in Sheffield on the Saturday. I wont get back in Bath till 4pmish Sunday then the family has the "sarnies, sausage rolls and birthday cake thing" when I get back as I chose to be away on the day.

I am also off on holiday with the kids on the Monday morning so if I do manage to play and go deep I will probably be up till the wee small hours packing suitcases but then again going by past performances I will be out fairly quick....sitting out might give me my highest place LOL.

Please dont forget to support our team, we are fighting back and a good result this week will let the other teams know we are a contender.

GOOOOOO BRISTOLLLLLLLL XXXX

PS the bounty on Dan still stands ;-)

Still plenty of games left to make a charge up the leaderboard.

well played Mark, sorry I could,nt give you more support on the FT, had a easy fold when I was check raised but decided to call knowing I was miles behind and needed to hit another ten to double up :-*.
Still plenty of games left to make a charge up the leaderboard.

Yeh saw that hand  :) we all do it, but hats off to you reaching the final table. And youe 100% correct plenty of time to catch Plymouth. Im on holiday in two weeks time 18-19th but I hear its been put back another week, happy days
