Post by: eVolution on January 29, 2009, 21:09:58 PM
i have one question about the league - i was reading the format section and was just wondering, this may be completely stupid but ill ask anyway - will the 4 players that get the GUKPT entry be the highest point scorers from the online league, or are the players who would be playing live already selected and all our points do is help them on their way to blue square?

I"ll try to answer but Neil can correct me if im wrong. The 4 players that win the seats will be the team of highest scoring players in the FINAL.

The players selected to play in the final will be the highest scoring players in thier team during the league, IF the team qualifies.

So first your team must succeed in its division, then you must be one of the top 4 points scorers in you team to be invited to the final.

In other words its all to play for. Everything depends on your performance and your teams performance in the league. :)

ok cool thanks man - wud also like to know wat kinda level the ppl r at who r playing in our northern division - not taht it matters but if anyone plays anywhere online and has any nice wins id like to know :) lol - wat about yourself, where do u play?
Title: Re: Belfast Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: lukybugur on January 29, 2009, 22:43:29 PM
No Colin, it"s still the 4 Members of the Winning Club that get the GUKPT Seats. So, if your team have three players in the last 4 of the Final but it ends up that none of them win it, these three players will likely nett the Club enough points to win the four GUKPT seats. So even if you go out 40th in the final, if your colleagues make enough points, you will still get to the GUKPT.

A portion of the GUKPT winnings will be put aside for your team mates to earn their share based on points won in the League Games throughout the Season.

I quote from the Welcome post;

Quote
The poker club which wins the National League will receive four entries to a Grosvenor UK Poker Tour main event, to be awarded to the four members of who played in the National League final.

Should any of these four players go on to cash in their chosen GUKPT main event, then 20% of their GUKPT prize money will be retained as a secondary prize for their poker club team mates, and paid out in line with individual National League points scored during the Season Three campaign.  For example, players who did not score any league points will not be eligible for a share of GUKPT prize money.  Similarly, players who won a GUKPT seat as part of the National League winning team will not be eligible for a share of any secondary prize money, should they not cash with their own GUKPT entry.

The four members of the top three teams in the Online National League will receive APAT National Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to commemorate their achievement.

Neil is spot on, the four players from the final winning team will take the GUKPT seats.  Every one of their points scoring team mates will stand the chance of sharing any winnings that those seats may generate.  Lots to play for.

nice - i was just looking to see that if i play well, and if the damn cards fall in my favour, that i personally cud end up playing there in the GUKPT.  good motivation to try to win each of the 20 tournaments lol.  ah well should be fun anyway, cant wait till sunday nite - gl to all involved

Thanks Billy, but I think I was a little unclear. I amended the following sentence later adding the word "team".

I"ll try to answer but Neil can correct me if im wrong. The 4 players that win the seats will be the team of highest scoring players in the FINAL.

BTW I"d like to invite Belfast team members to change their location settings.

Go to cashier, then settings click on the other location button and enter "Belfast Poker Club". ;)

Title: Re: Belfast Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: gtthnuts on February 02, 2009, 00:11:23 AM
yeh maybe. i would love to make top four. just realised that the points ffrom 1-10 really only affect players chances of qualifying...
as top team ie belfast gets 3pts
edinburgh gets two and stockton gets one.
so even though belfast dominated ft we only get one extra point. not representative imo
Title: Re: Belfast Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: beansisdaman on February 02, 2009, 00:42:51 AM
It jsut means we have to own FT every week :) Billy we"ll get you to the GUKPT yet!

I"d like to think that me and Gareth"s previous GUKPT experience helped us ship the tournament ;) ;)

btw one question... quoted from original statement:

"The four members of the top three teams in the Online National League will receive APAT National Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to commemorate their achievement."

Now does that mean top 3 teams with highest points by week 20 or does that mean the 3 highest finishing teams out of the 10 in the final?
Title: Re: Belfast Poker Club - General Discussion
Post by: APAT on February 02, 2009, 00:53:33 AM
That is the top three teams in the final.

Well played to the Belfast guys last night. Great result.

Have to say the structure was less than good. I know its only a fiver in but this could see players not bothering to play throughout the season because of the rapid increase in blinds. Marty was saying he was playing in a $6k tourny after he got knocked out and it was a much better structure, why not give this league the same.

Anyway, it was still great craic to play in and im looking forward to the next one.

For any Belfast players interested we have a forum going and have a thread open for these events. Its a good laugh keeping up with each other! PM me for the address if you guys are interested.

Not to forget the moan about the structure!!

We fielded about 12 of our 23 players, and I think a few were unlucky by the sound of it. :(

My bro was calling me Bilko throughout the game. Reference to a Sgt Bilko episode were no matter how much he tried couldn"t lose a single bet. :D

I admit I had a little luck and managed to bag myself 5 points  ;), but alas no points for Belfast this week. :-\
I am confident Belfast can come back with a good turnout and more success in a fortnight. :)

So far we are looking at The Fortune Roms in Bangor and i have put forward Blick Studios on the MAlone Road where i"m starting 2 weekly and a monthly game on MArch the 2nd.

Anyone who would like to play or has any suggestions about loction, buyin, setup etc post up and let us know.

Monday is a good chance for a cheap meet up! It is self deal though on a Monday so people may prefer going to Bangor for dealers. Either is fine with me. A few of the lads were posting about it on the forum. www.riverbox.co.uk.

As i said i"m fine with where ever we go.

Anyone else any thoughts?

Ps First team meetup scheduled for 2nd March at Blick Studios. This is a new venue being run by Belfast's own Eoin Morris AKA PandaWatch88 and a good venue for a first meetup. Nice venue with tea coffee and food, widescreen TV, wi-fi and plenty of room. Few beers/wines if players want too.

Hi Nick

The APAT Scottish Championship takes place this weekend in Edinburgh. Myself and sword11 are competing, live updates available from APAT website. Because of this game the league game takes place next weekend and not this.

As for the last game the results have been posted in the Northern division posting area. From memory I think Gerard came 6th and Belfast came second and gained two team points. We are looking fairly good at the moment. The race for individual points is on now to determine who will represent Belfast in the final.

Hope you are well and see you next week for the league game.

Cheers

Col
