How do the tournaments work and how do I sign up to them?

I"m assuming you mean how does the team aspect of the tournament work?
It"s a normal no limit Holdem freezeout, every man for himself (but try not to bust too many of your team mates!). Players are awarded points for 9th place to 1st place (1 point for 9th...9pts for 1st) in each tournament. Only the top 4 finishers for each team count towards their total (this means that, on occasions, the points can extend down beyond 9th place).
The tournament winning team is the team with the most individual points and they are awarded 3 league points. The second placed team gets 2 league points and the 3rd placed team gets 1 point.
There are 10 matches in the season. The top 3 teams will get promoted to Division 1 and the bottom 3 teams will be relegated to Division 3, so hopefully there will be something for all teams to play for right up to the end.
Prize money is awarded to individuals for each tournament as normal.
The league-winning team"s top 4 players (total individual points scored) win seats to APAT's £250 buy-in live Professional event.

The official line is that there shouldn"t be any soft-playing but it"s almost impossible for it not to affect how you play if you know you"re against a team mate.
Play as you see fit is the best advice I can offer. No one"s going to hold it against you if you knock a team mate out - just don"t go out of your way to try!

There"s no inconsistent ruling Steve - there"s been no ruling at all yet - which is why I said

Sean wasn"t approached per se, I happened to notice his name among the members of APAT Notts" facebook group. When I looked at his profile I noticed his location was Leeds.
However there are legitimate reasons why someone in Leeds would want to play for Notts (that"s where they work, they were born there or they play at DTD regularly (anticipating a possible future live link-up).
I noticed Bainn was among Sean"s facebook friends so asked Bainn to have a word with him. The next thing I knew, Sean was posting to say he wanted to play for us.
So, if APAT are happy with it, Sean will play this season. If not then he"ll play next season I hope.

Where i work at Reckitt Benckiser in Nottm, i got my mate gaz suffolk to sign, also i will try and get John Hubbard (local dtd player) and Simon Gregg (local alea and dtd) also a few players from my pub who all play in the redtooth league and want to branch out.Now we are promoted it should be easier. Reckitts is on the Boots site which employ over 3000 people so if i send an email out to poker players out there lets see what response we get, regards ;D

I have argued against limits on the teams previously, but surely 3000 is too many on one team.

Where i work at Reckitt Benckiser in Nottm, i got my mate gaz suffolk to sign, also i will try and get John Hubbard (local dtd player) and Simon Gregg (local alea and dtd) also a few players from my pub who all play in the redtooth league and want to branch out.Now we are promoted it should be easier. Reckitts is on the Boots site which employ over 3000 people so if i send an email out to poker players out there lets see what response we get, regards ;D

I think that Nottingham should fill their boots. If you can"t deal with the medicine they dispense in your direction, then that"s to their advantage. ;D

Ooops, dont take it literary, i only meant about ten players. Quality always beat quantity. Its hard to recruit players as i live in Derby and players wont play (must be a football rivalry thing) btw im Nottm born and bred before anyone says something lol

Oh right. I was a bit concerned that the arguments about soft play might get worse when everyone on the table is from the same team.

I understand, we had six players on the same table last sunday and trust me there was no soft playing. My own player knocked me out on game 8 :( No hard feelings Mint Trav :)
