When I get that error up and the login screen comes up i hit cancel to take me to lobby. Then click Login from bottom right of lobby and screen opens up and click ok and it seems to work and I connect fine without disconnecting.

Worth a try, works for me.

I had no end of problems with iPoker for years, and it didn"t seem to matter whether I was playing at PaddyPower, BSQ, or Titan.... I had continual lockups, and connection errors.

I messed around with the MTU setting on my router, and things improved but were never perfect.... then when I changed router from a Belkin to a Netgear, all my problems disappeared..... now I can play iPoker sites with perfect stability.

Could be a number of things.  I for one, never have a problem with BS (or any ipoker sites), unless it"s the whole network going down.

If you do have a problem it can be:

1.  Your computer is running at capacity (either memory or processor) and it"s your computer that is effectively stopping the connection.  For example, if you are watching a video, using pokertracker, and say editing an image using photoshop - that"s going to use a lot of resources and can cause a disconnection from your poker site.

2.  Your connection is playing up (either intermittently or for longer periods).  This can be due to local issues (your wireless router playing up), your local exchange having problems, your ISP having network issues, or something bigger than this (very rare).  It could also be BlueSQ having connectivity problems that affects a whole group of people (either everyone, or a group of people in the same geographical area).

Of course, if you"re downloading or uploading lots of stuff at the same time as you"re playing, then this can also cause the poker room to disconnect.

3.  The third area that might cause the problem is the MTU packet size.  I don"t understand this either, but effectively what it means is that your router deals with "chunks" of data of a specific size, and the poker room might be sending chunks of a different size.  Apparently this can cause a problem like the one you are experiencing. Fortunately, there is a possible solution:

It seems to a big problem over the past 24 hours or so. I had problems connecting to BlueSq prior the APAT Sat last night and I"m unable to connect to Titan just now - it"s the same "Cannot Connect to Poker Server" message.

Given that there have been a good number of us experiencing this, I wouldn"t go making significant changes to your network / internet / router setup as this particular connection problem looks like it"s on iPoker"s side.

What ISP are you with?

I"m on Virgin cable, and have had no problems.

Does it ever throw you off once you"ve connected, like for the OP?

Did you play last night?

It can be the case that only one "skin" of the ipoker network is experiencing a problem at any particular moment.  This is often to do with a problem moving the money from the cage to the tables - and so those in a tournament might not be affected, but those trying to join a tournament or sit down at a cash game might have problems.

It"s interesting that some people had problems last night, and others didn"t.  I wasn"t really in the comp long enough to have any connection problems unfortunately...

I had problems last night, could not get on to BS so I missed the game. Tried 30 minutes later and it was fine.

I emailed them re this problem about 10 months ago when i cudn"t get on continously, they advised me to uncheck the buttons and manually type my details in.

dont know if this is still the same issue but it works pretty okay for me now up until yest.

I always type my info in (never use automatic log-in)
This is the first time I have had this problem in over a year. Will try tonight to see if I get the same problem
My ISP is virgin (not cable)

when you say it doesn"t take you to your seat, do mean at the very start of the tourney?

it may just be the delay from the announced start to the time it actually does, its about 1 min and has caused me mild panic from time to time but it gets you there in the end.

Wayne, if your going to play the sat. tonight can you not try and register now. At least that way if you have probs connecting at least your only miss a few hands and not the whole thing. (I had probs last night went to sign in at 7.55pm and it took me three attempts and missed the start, but at least i was in, not for long enough though.)

Did you register earlier in the day?
They don't have late reg on ipoker?

But after following that sound peice of technical advice that the tech guys at work ask?

Have you tried logging off/out and restarting?

Just a suggestion ;)

I had no connection problems last night - just problems rebuying!  It let me do the first rebuy at the start, and then I decided I needed to accumulate some chips, so I started open-shoving with any two cards, only to be cruely outdrawn by QQ against my KQ...  anyway, that wasn"t a problem as I could rebuy....erm, no I couldn"t.  It wouldn"t let me "due to technical problems" - the message said on the screen.  Then it let me rebuy once, and I wanted to take the next rebuy - but same message and this time the software was not for turning.  Somehow managed to get to the end of the rebuy period and then it wouldn"t let me add-on.

I hates the internetz sometaimz.

Think I know what happened here.

While the software displays "unlimited rebuys" the programmers obviously have to put in a large number as infinity does not exist in computer land.  You have obviously just reached the maximum number of rebuys allowed  ;D

;D

It had obviously decided that 3 rebuys and no add-on was enough for me.  Maybe it mistook me for someone who could play?

Hi Kinboshi,

I work for Blue Square and have looked into the issues you experienced.

If you could call our Customer Services on 0800 587 0500 and request to be put through to me, I would like to explain the results of the investigation.

Many thanks

David Abrams

This looks promising ...

Kinboshi doesn"t like to say much on here though Hillster  ::)  so it"d probably be best if you could post details of the problem yourself. You"ll see that a lot of us have had problems connecting recently and I"m sure we"d all appreciate your answers / help in resolving it.

Hi all,

I"m very concerned that a few players have experienced connection problems and although this appears to be a minority I hope the following might help.

This advice is from Playtech, the software provider. As you will note, some of it is rather obvious in helping a bad internet connection, but please let me know if any of this makes any difference. I think point 3) may make a difference to some if they have an old or corrupted network adapter drive.

Mike (Blue Square Poker)

1) Close all other programs during the game play - other open programs, especially P2P file sharing or on-line video streams could consume too much connection bandwidth. (If player is behind home/office LAN, the other computers on the same network may also affect the general network data throughput).

2) If player"s using laptop together with WiFi connection, please advise him to consider connecting via network cable during the poker sessions. Wifi networks are generally much more unreliable and even the simplest thing, like microwave oven, could cause hiccups in the network.

3) Update drivers of the network adapter

4) Disable unnecessary network services like IPv6, QoS etc..

control panel > network connections.>

5) Contact the ISP and the reasons of intermittent connection quality.

6) Upgrade the Internet connection if possible.

Never knew if i"d be home in time to play in APAT National Satellite tonight so never pre-registered. Got home at 10 to 8 and had PC fired up and Blue Square opened by 5 to 8... "Cannot connect to Server" kept coming up. Tried closing programme then re-opening but never worked so just kept hitting "Log in" every two secs after it told me "Cannot connect to server" until I finally was able to log on at 8:02pm - 2 mins too late for satellite :-\  ... not a good week for me & Blue Square.

Is there a reason there"s no "late reg" on Blue Square?
Or a reason this keeps happening?
It"s not an isolated incident so surely must be a problem at Blue Square"s end?

Guess i"ll be giving the $10 freezeout a bash tomorrow instead.
